xplode ROM request - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

hi guys! I was trying to cook my own xplode ROM but I always get low virtual memory error. I was hoping someone can cook for me an xplode ROM without the following:
transcriber
windows live
firmware update
terminal services
htc x-button
PS: What is the last file that created during the createrom.bat process? I get up to something like WIFI.bmp.

check your PM...
PoGa

i think you have to install more ram .... or increase the space that the page file gets
once again i have tested it on 1 gb ram without issues

Official i-mate ROM release (1.40.176 & 1.12.00)

It's too good to believe:
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe
I'm downloading now.
Tom
39.6MB (their server is really slow today)
From i-mate site:
The details of the new ROM image are:
For the Worldwide English Build:
ROM version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.40.176 WWE
I think they waited until the pros on this site figured everything out first...then they just piggy-backed on their findings. Kudos to the real pros on XDA-devel!!!
tom
How to install this rom in Spanish Qtek 9090, i'm new and y don't now very well to change the language.
Thank you!
imate update
I just got the update from the I-mate site and am working it with the XDA tools but I'm getting a checksum errors on the radio, NK, and MS filles. Should I be using a different tool? My device is a MDA III T-mobile german flashed to english. Any Ideas???
Downloaded, installed and running. No problems....yet. I can't find a config file in the extrom in order to make some changes, but there's a setup.exe file now. Not sure what that's about.
No idea how to change the language...I'm not good enough to know that.
More later.
Tom
So far so good. A couple issues. 1) the phone off (or flight mode on) is no longer activated by the Call End button. Shame...I loved that feature. 2) I have a problem turning the phone on (flight mode off) after a soft reset. I think it may be caused by the Contacts Button addin. The only way I can turn on the phone is to go into the keypad and then turn it on. All other methods cause the system to lockup.
Tom
Temporary copy...
Until someone puts it up on xda-developers / cooks it,
a MUCH faster loading copy is at
http://www.myehud.com/BlueAngel/PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe
Ehud
Great!!!!!
I'm downloading it right now!!
i-mate finally released it after 1000's of unkept promises!
FINALLY!!! Here's to hoping it will be better than the Qtek version!
Again, I would like to ask why there is no config file??? I take it setup.exe has the config file built in? If any of the pros can give me some feedback as to this, I would appreciate it. I'd like to drop in several cab files incase I fubar something down the road.
Thanks,
Tom
P.S. almost 6 hours and only the "turning on the phone" problem.
yes... config is missing...
will try out some combinations .
skype is taking 3.8 megs... i don't need it there.

Ture...true. Skype was fun the first couple times, but with VOIP at home, I really don't need it anymore. Still, kind of cool to show people...if you have someone that you can connect to.
Tom
Tried some combos, including, using the old config and setup files... nothing wrorks,
only thing is that any additional file found in ext rom is treated as a carrier customization file, and on selecting one file , that particular file will be installed..
also, i noticed that there is one config file in the windows directory.
Just take the Autorun.exe and config.txt from another rom, add in the cabs from the i-mate rom, and there you go.
Yeah, I will be removing Skype ASAP myself. I can understand how it could be useful, but for my purposes, it just takes up space.
The Setup.exe is way better then the config
Leave the setup the exe it is better then the config. with the config you have to site the and write a line for each cab file. the setup.exe automatically runs every cab file in the ext rom. whether you put it there or not. So when cookinh your extended rom no need to keep having to change the config.txt. The setup will run whatevers there.
You can find this new ROM at ftp upload folder hope MDAIIIUser can move to wiki , I will upload ext.ROM by tomorrow

Tried that , removed setup.exe , copy old autorun.exe and made new config file,
but didn't worked out..

Do I need to keep autorun.exe ? If yes, then which one old or new?
sunish, I can not imagine why it would not work. You must have made a mistake somewhere.
The WMP10 close problem still exists, which leads me to conclude that it is indeed a problem with the 1.40 CE Rom, and not something within the Extended rom muddling it up.
Has anyone seem any actual improvements with this rom over Qtek's? All of the same problems still to be in place. The extended rom has a few different (but unimportant) cabs, but that's about it.
MarcValme, I'm not so sure I agree. One of the good things about the config.txt file is that you can specify the order in which the cabs install, which does actually make a difference in a few circumstances. Food for thought.
TheLastOne,
Don't know / Can't figure out where is the problem.
No combination is working for me.
Maybe will try it again after a day or so.
Right now, after unhiding the Ext ROM, I'm installing all the programs needed by me manually.
One thing that I noticed is the increase in speed... The performance is somewhat better now...

problem with Helmi's vanilla rom

Hallo,
I downloaded the vanilla version of Helmi's rom (THANKS Helmi!) and am trying to install it on my BA.
when I run the createrom.bat file, at a certain point there is a line that says,
Make sure that the free sectors is at least 1 (0001) or ROM will never work
of course I build the rom, I install it and it does not work. it just stuck at the 4 colored stripes at the beginning.
now I suppose the problem lies in this free sector, but I can't seem to understand how should I work around it... any help pls?
I never had any problem so far with any rom installed
thanks!
Strange...i've downloaded the same version from FTP and nk.nbf already was here,so no need to run createrom.bat!
mmm I downloaded this file
Helmi_BA_AKU3.5_Kitchen__R0
from the ftp site, it's a 50 mb file with all the folders like OS, LOC, ROM, OEM...
and, there is no nk.nbf file so you have to build it by yourself. I just d/loaded this file because I want a completely clean (well, as much as possible) rom, in fact I also deleted most of the OEM programs...
and I got stuck
you downloaded helmi_c's AKU 3.5 vanilla rom kitchen.
I had similar problem when i tried to add packages.
i didn't have time to look into the problem, i just re-cooked the ROM as it is (plain vanilla) & it worked!
may i suggest you try cooking as it is, if it works try to remove/add packages. this just to find out that you have a working rom kitchen.
I will try this, thanks.
hope it works!

Dead Xda IIS

Guys, i need some help. Recently i came across the rom update for my xda iis, so i decide to take it out of my drawer and see if i can update it with HELMI_BA_WM6_R0_Public. I followed all the steps and try to upgrade it, after i click on HELMI_BA_WM6_R0_.exe, my xda iis restart on cradle and after that nothing happen. I notice it only appear on the top with the word "serial" and the bottom "v2.06". I have tried in vain to get it working again, please try to help as im very new to this. Im using window Vista.
since apparently, you are not that experienced in flashing your device, i would recommend you use windows xp to flash your device.
then you have a look at this wiki wizard:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade1_WM2003SE0
this is a step by step instruction on how to upgrade from wm2003 to wm6.
please follow it precisely, even if you don't see a point in certain steps, they are all important!!!
if you, however, don't understand a step or a phrase, feel free to re-post, and i will explain it to you in more detail.
have fun with the upgrading, one word of advise: take your time, the first upgrade with storage resize radio upgrade, sim unlock and other stuff can last an hour or two (not the upgrade itself, but the process you go through). when you remember the steps and feel like you want a different rom, after testing this one, all you have to do is donload a "nk.nbf" file and flash it, and the entire update takes you 5 minutes then
Hi Chef_tony, thanks for the reply. I went to the link u gave me and from the 1st step on im stuck. It ask me to download both the unlocker and Repart and place it on the phone, but i cant do anything with the phone except for the "Serial" on top and "V2.06" below, it does change to "usb" when i cradle it. please help. thanks again
ok, then at that point you are stuck in boot loader, that happened to me too.
the reason for that might not be that interesting to you now, but it is because vista in the middle of the flashing process vista thinks it needs new drivers, downloads them and then it disconnects the device, something that shouldn't be done while flashing, as everyone knows.
these wiki links explain how to flash from vista using modified drivers, but i wanna tell you in advance, that i personally never got it running, i always use a windows xp machine:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4_Vista
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4_Vista_Pic
so, still i want to state that the best way to flash is a xp computer, if you have access to one, use that to flash your original shipped rom first, to resize the storage (first wizard step) afterwards.
theoretically, a virtual machine, running xp would also work, if you still have an xp cd lying around, you can download virtual pc 2007 from microsoft, it is free and you just need a short time to set up a virtual xp machine, because i can guarantee you, you will flash more than one rom, once you started on the topic.
remember, you need to flash your shiped rom, then you want to flash the helmi rom, then maybe a rom update and probably you are not staying with that rom forever, since it is wm6, there is also wm6.1 and wm6.5 to follow that.
what i want to say is:
- try the flashing with vista option described in the wiki links above
- if that doesn't work, try to get to an xp computer and follow the steps
- flash your original shipped rom first
- then the wiki wizard steps in again
Problem is solve, thank you so much chef_tony. my next question is...where can i get wm6.1 rom as all the link i had is dead
according to another user, this thread's links are still working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403421
but it does not contain office. (you can still try other office download links, if you need it)
just by the tiny size of the extrom i would say there is hardly anything contained, but anyway, that is a rom i used too, and it is quite nice, also look up IOLITE stuff in this forum for extra apps.
make sure to repost if everything went to plan
I found a working wm6.1 pro on another website and its working great! It contain office as well. Thing now is i didnt adjust the memory and i didnt have enough space to install every software that i had
This is the link http://www.4shared.com/file/66810499/8a61be24/HTC-BA5220758WWE_v302_25M_PP-16M_RAMdisk_a.html?s=1
By the way chef_tony, you happen to have any idea how to open up BA, cause i would love to clean it up on the inside.
1. the thing is, the storage resize is important for 2 reasons:
- sure, with the resize you woulld have 16mb more storage memory for installing programs and storing stuff
- you still have your original extrom on the device, which is not compatible with newer roms, meaning, instead of simply copying the extrom to an sd card to have a basic setup and installing programs you need to install cabs manually
which is why i said to follow the steps precisely, now you have 16mb of space you simply can't access from wm6 at all, and for a resize you'd have to go back to wm2003 first but give your rom a try first, maybe it is not the perfect one for you after all, then you still have the opportunity to re-flash.
2. i am glad you found a valid link, many people post their roms to hosters that take it down after a while, expecially when there are no more downloads of that item, and so, many links posted here half a year ago are not working anymore, which is sad, since there are still a lot of people, including you, that would like to go to wm5, wm6 or wm6.1 and not just the newest wm6.5 builds, but, whatever, you found your rom and hopefully kept the files stored on your pc for future reflashing...
3. there are two basic disassembling guides for the BA:
- the official service manual (also good for repairs, since they explain each step):
http://www.4pda-service.ru/netcat_f.../BLUE ANGEL/HTC_Blue_Angel_Service_manual.pdf
- the manual made by a forum user:
http://www.land-of-kain.de/ppc/mda3/disassembly/
i am glad it all worked out for you so far and you will realize that this old device has a lot of potential, when you keep it up to date (and clean ).
Thanks you so much for the help. I'll try to update if the link is dead someday, by the way..i have 43mb storage and 84mb programme, is that good or bad?
the program memory is normal, but the storage should be 16 mb more, so instead of 43.XX you would have 60.30mb.
that is the extrom resize mentioned before.
- you need to flash your original rom for that
- then copy the "xda-developers unlocker" and the "repart_doc.exe" to your device. (attached below)
- you install the extrom unlocker
- then you go to start menu and extrom unlocker
- you execute "unhide"
- then unlock
- then start the repart_doc and set the size to 128kb
then you can lock the extrom and hide it again.
maybe in that process there is a soft reset required, i don't remember.
the reason why you do all that is because the extrom memory is hidden and locked and contains a bunch of cabs, that install automatically, when you hard reset the device.
so after that, you can reflash your wm6 rom, and you'll see, that after you resized and formatted that space, your memory dialogue will show 60.30mb of storage memory (plus it gives you the opportunity to install wm6 extroms from the sd card).

What can I delete for files?

Hi I upgraded my 9090 to WB 6.5 from Xplode latest release. I’m really happy with this and everything works fine.
In this phone the memory is only 43.2 Mb, (I have another one, broken but it has 60Mb.) and the upgrade take almost all of this.
My question is what files can I delete to have more space?
Is it possible to install the OS on a memory card?
I’m really happy with this release so I hope there is a solution.
Regard
Ola A
you should downgrade to wm2003 first and repart your storage space, so that the device also has 60mb, also, the rom takes up 32mb in the rom storage, even if there was a rom with nearly nothing inside, just the operating system itself, it would still take up 32mb, because that is the rom size. and it must be in the rom space, there is no way to install it somewhere else.
so, what you can do to gain those extra 16mb, to need to flash wm2003 and then do exactly, what i wrote here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4706441&postcount=2
in the end, flash wm6.5 back and following that guide, it will run smoothly and fast and you will have slightly more space. still, you will never have more than 60mb of internal storage, unless you pick a rom with a ramdisk, which can offer you yet another 16mb in another partition.
I’m really pleased for the solution...
Please tell me where can I find how I go back to wm2003?
You had in your mind to do the repart for the storage space as in the link you suggest?
Wye can’t I do the repart in WM 6.5?
The download for repart_doc.exe and the second file have download problems, you couldn’t have some down load alternatives...?
How can I install the OS on the Memorycard?
Regard
Ola A
1. for the downgrade to wm2003:
1.a go to firmware.atspace.com/blueangel.html
1.b look for a firmware to match your device, it doesn't matter much, but it should be either an english rom or one in your native language, i guess english would be best though.
1.c Important! Extract the rom, so you have a folder, containing files like nk.nbf, ms_.nbf, baupgradeut.exe and so on. don't just start the exe you downloaded!
1.d download maupgradeut_noid, if the rapidshare download from the link above doesn't work, search the forum for "Chef_Tony Ruu", you will find several mirrors.
1.e download "repart_doc" and "xda-unlocker.cab" also from the link or search the forum, i uploaded it many times
1.f put the maupgrade in the same folder as the nk.nbf and all the other stuff from the wm2003 rom
1.g hard reset your device by pressing reset+power and camera+record, in the menu appearing set
Enable Kitl No
Format Storage Yes
Clear Registry Hive Yes
and confirm with the mail button
1.h after the device started, switch it off and remove the sim card and sd card
1.i put your device into bootloader mode by pressing power+record+reset, the display shows Serial V2.0x, where x is a number from 5 to 7
1.j start MaUpgradeut_noID and flash the device
1.k perform a wm2003 hard reset by pressing power+reset
1.l wait for the extrom to install and the following soft reset
1.m proceed with the manual from the link i gave you.
2.yes, the reparting of the useless extrom partition is, what i had in mind, it slows your device down and is just a collection of useless cab files with carrier customizations like dialer skins and wallpapers, that are installed after a hard reset in wm2003
3. it cannot be done in any os but wm2003, that is what makes this partition so useless, it is just not accessible
4. for downloading those files, if rapidshare doesn't work for you, as suggested in 1. use forum search and look for the file name, together with my name, and you will find several direct download links from the forum.
5. there is absolutely no way, the os can be installed from or to the memory card, in fact, while installing the os, the sd card may not even be inside the device, it can lead to serious damage of the device. like i explained in my earlier post, the rom does not take away any usable space anyway. you have 60mb of storage space for programs and files and 32mb rom space for the rom. if your rom is 20mb, then it is still filling up your 32mb of rom space and your storage will still be 60mb. if you have a rom with a lot of stuff inside, that is really taking up 32mb, you still have 32mb rom and 60mb storage.
that is why it is even better to take a big rom with lots of programs inside, because that way you really save space... since you don't need to install those programs in your storage space.
with best regards
Chef_Tony
A big thank you for your support. I’m now going to try this out.
--------------------------
Three hour later.
Yes, now is everything done. Some hard to find WM2003 file but at last... (They who were in your link weren’t there anymore.)
Now the memory is big and clean. All my apps installed...
A happy new year
Ola A.

Significantly increases the performance of your X2

Are you having problem with your CAB files or you need more speed and stability, then use Extendir to prepare your cab files.
Extendir is a file system filter driver that significantly increases the performance of your phone, in specific situations even up to 12 times as fast and faster…
With the help of Extendir 98% of my old and new files now work perfectly on my X2 without any heavy battery usage.

Answer to your question, check my attached file.
The software is really simple to use, download the file, unzip it and run Extendir Cabs.
and whats with extendir.dll which is actually doin the changes not the
extendir cabs which only makes cab files

Yes that is what I'm asking you to do just re-cab your Cab files with Extendir Cabs, Install your files as usual and just relax and see how your phone will perform. But if you want to go all the way, you can read the post about Extendir all cache and Preset Installer
And you still have questions just post in the thread and ShaDrac can personally help you.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530710

Okay, so if i use Extendir on my Manila cabs, it should make sense work faster on the x2?
OK ... I used the Extender ... and here is what I did (and is it simple):
1. moved all of the cabs that I wanted to "extend" into a directory -- on my PC
2. ran "extendir cabs" and pointed it to the directory mentioned in #1
3. It generated a single cab with all of the cabs that I had moved into a single cab called the "directory name.cab" that was in #1
4. I copied the cab to my phone and installed it ...
That was it ... and it seems to work ... but I don't have any results that I can report ... only did it to day, and it is too early to say what it is doing -- but it seems to have better battery response ... note that one of the cabs that I "extended" was SPB 8 Mobile Shell. After the install, all of the programs worked and the install did not take very long ... shorter then installing the programs the first time ...
Now the questions ...
1. When the extender cab installs, it asks where to install the extender cab ... and I selected the storage card -- which I found strange since SPB 8 is normally installed in the device and not on the card ... It seems to work -- but should that have been installed on the device?
2. there only seems to be a single choice for the location of the install -- when I did it the first time, I installed in on the device, and it took up memory in the device when I hade "extended" cabs that were both formally in the device and on the storage card. I then addnd more programs into the directory for the cabs, and rans extendir cabs again and it created another file (called the directory name -- note that this cab is located in the same directory that the extendir cabs.exe file is located). When I copied it to my phone and installed it, it said that I had to uninstall the previous version of the extended cab -- which I did. (Note that I also tried to rename the cab to another name before installing it, and it still asked about uninstalling the previous version.) I am not sure if it is possible to use it for device located cabs and storage located cabs -- is that possible?
Well that is my experience with extender and how it is used ...

A thousand thanks for trying this tool, this tool is basically for Rom developer to use and cook applications into their Rom, back then people discovered using it to re-cabs our Cab files make them faster and less battery consuming.
Answer to your Questions : You just have to group your Cab files into two groups. First group for cabs that will be install into Phone memory, Second group for cabs in memory card.
Or you can re-cab your files separately.
Tips for better battery and more speed : You may know this, but for those that don't know.
* Install applications that runs regularly, runs in background or programs you use frequently into phone memory.
eg : Manila
* Install applications that don't runs in background, you don't use regularly or very large applications in Memory card.
eg : games
Hmm.. im not sure if im doing it wrong but what i did was use the program on the manila cabs and the other stuff, but when i restarted my x2 manila didn't bother to start up unless i install the non-extendir cab im not sure what im doing.
Here is what I noticed over the last few days ...
There is a significant speed increase in browsing (I use Iris -- gave up on the IE since I was getting warnings about using IE6 based browser and Microsoft does not appear -- at least i could not find one -- to have an upgrade) speed and also Bing is faster ...
SPB 8 is also faster ...
There might be an increase in battery life, but I am still evaluating that part of it ...
I will have to give this a try. Thanks for the heads up
will the droid pro+3.0 really work in xperia x2? haha..=)
i m newbie...
