I have been trying to recover my (currently) bricked Dopod 595 after a ROM upgrade totally screwed it up.
I did the 1.34 ROM upgrade that changed the SPL to 1.10 and after that deviced that I should revert to the original Dopod ROM. I managed to do it by replacing the nbh files on the 1.34 RUU. The ROM writing seemed to be successful but the device does not move beyond the second boot screen.
So I tried to apply the RUU again, only to get the vendor ID warning, which I was not expecting.
Using mtty, and issuing info 2, this is my result:
HTCSF kEØ(HTCE
What the hell does that mean??? It almost seems like the CID was badly written... Was it supposed to be HTCEUR?
Is there any was I can recover this, perhaps by hacking a ROM to match that CID?
Thanks in advance!

i think easiest way to repair this is if you have warrenty just send it to repair to htc...
futureshock,
Yes, I could do that. Not sure how to explain to the service center what happened, tho...
Anyway, thanks for the advice.

I have the same problem too. Any solution yet?
You need to send it in if warranty... just tell them the blardy unit refuse to start... I did the same and they replace the board for free... i am in Malaysia though...

ok so here it is i want to go back to the original cingular rom for the cingular 8125 cause i am going to give it to my brothe i am upgrading to hermies but every time i try to load the rom it wount let me. some one help
You need to provide more info.
Things like what Rom do you have on it now, what exact Rom are your trying to install and how are your trying to do it.
If you're sure that you have a G3 downgrade to the 1.05, reunlock the CID (trust me) and then you can install either the 1.08 or 2.25 original Cingular shipping ROM's. Follow the steps in my signature.
The 1.05 is one of the greatest tools. I've used it to repair the bootloader on G3's that I've bricked with my early bad rom experiments and also to return devices back to original shipping version to return under warranty.
Good luck!

I am using Summiters old 2.26 ROM, and have to send back in the phone, so I want to flash it to the HTC Rom from the HTC site, but just wondered if that would have issues or not.
My IPL SPL is 2.24 and the HTC ROM is dated newer then mine.
Think I will run into problems?
You could always flash the original rom with the noid RUU if you run into anything. Just place the nk.nbf in the same directory. And might I suggest that you CID-relock your phone prior to sending it to a service center as that procedure usually voids the warranty.
Wao
Good info thanks, although I will admit to being a noob at this so should I re-lock the device, then run the htc rom?
Your advice on the nk.nbf is strictly based on the HTC rom not loading?
Regarding the relock, where can I find a relock tool? I remember ages ago downloading and running an app called lockwiz, is that right?

yeah, lokiwiz does the unlocking but if you didn't save the output file I don't know how you are going to re-lock. Doubt they will even check that as long as you have a stock rom on the device though, so you should be ok.
So Then...
The original thought should suffice, using the stock ROM from the HTC should load ok.
I am kinda in the same boat. I need to send my 8125 in for repair. I currently have Molski's ROM. I tried to go back to the ROM for my phone from Cingular and I am getting an error 296 Upgrade only. I have tried both Cingular ROM and get the same error.
Would the nk.nbf file pretain to me? If so where do I find it and how do I use it?
Sorry - I am a noobie to flashing the ROM's so any help would be greatly appreciated.
ORIG STOCK Cingular ROM
I believe this is one of the Original Shipped ROM from Cingular.

The exact error I am getting is:
ERROR [296]: UPGRADE ONLY
This NBF file cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please get newer NBF file.
What is the NBF file and how do I get and use it?

I tried that before I posted. I get the same error afterwards.
I finally got the old Cingular ROM installed but cannot go to the new ROM.
I broke down and contacted HTC. Basically they told me to do a warranty replacement.
Thanks for everyone's help.
My MteoR can´t boot anymore (freezing on second bootscren)...
Any option how to set SUPERCID on MteoR ONLY over the bootloader and then upgrade the ROM ?
HI, unfortunately it's not possible. I have the same problem,my mteor stuck on bootloader, my CID is VODAP304 and i can't upgrade any roms till now... =(
when mteor didn't boot anymore "superciding" is not possible this is correct..
but with an shipped upgrade the "restore" of phone is possible!!! only thing is that you must have a correct shipped rom that match you cid... (to know what cid you have look in wiki!!)
innocent, made some pressure on vodafon or send them your phone ... there must be an rom for you phone... because they sell it with the vodafone software on it... the want give it out... but you have bought the phone and with that the software ... they must gave you the rom!!
Futureshock, need your help and advice...

Hi,
I've flash my phone to the Schaps_WM6Pro_Trinity_4.30.2008_WWE_Full ROM and after several Soft Resets my M700 is stuck in the original bootloader screen.
My USB port does not work so I copied the des bootloader and ROM onto ny SD Card. Launched the des bootloader and the the ROM was flashed successfully. After some soft resets to change various registry settings the device is now stuck in the original bootloader screen (SPL-1.07.0000).
I've tried to flash the ROM again but it goes to a grey screen saying "loading" then displays "000068002". I've tried various ROMS and get the same error code.
As the orginal bootloader is displayed I think it's looking for a ROM with the same CID. The phone is a UK Orange M700.
Does anyone know where I can get the Orginal UK Orange ROM from? I've tried the Mozzer one without any luck and found French ROM gives me the error message "no allowed".
Hard Reset does not work, just takes me to the bootloader screen and I've left the battery on overnight.
As the USB does not work I can't use mmty to reset the device.
Please help
Thank you
Look on the Trinity WiKi and use the CD card flash method. This will allow you to flash without using the USB. Works every time
I can flash from SD card, but as the original bootloader is loaded I need ROM with CID from Orange UK
Oh... you need to unlock your phone first. That is probably where you are running into your problem. or you could try downloading your OEM rom and flash that using the sd card, then unlock, then have at it with a cooked rom
Has anyone got Part02.raw dump from an Orange UK M700. I might be able to build a new ROM if I can get my hands on one.
Thanks
Maybe you will find here

Hi fktsndr
I've tried those without any luck.
I've bitten the bullet and have sent it off for repair.

OK, if you get it back I suggest you to replace the original spl to hard-spl!
With hard-spl you will not stuck in bootloader any more.
But of course you can restore the original spl
Yep,
have learnt my lesson and if the phone is repairable then I'll Hard-SPL it and take a backup of my ROM.
Cheers for the help
One last question
mobile phone couldn't fix it so looks like a trip to Orange which could be pricey, but one last question. I have various nbh files for the M700 but they all have the wrong CID. Do you know if it's possible to change the CID in a nbh file so that I can use it for Orange UK (ORANG001)
cheers

Unfortunatelly I do not know. But hard-spl ignore cid, so you will not have cid problems.
About NBH, you should ask Ervius in this thread (he is a rom cooker):

Hello,
I'm a new one on this great forum so first of all I'd like to send greetings to all of you.
I've searched and read a lot of posts on this forum as well as on another ones, but unfortunately I couldn't find a solution for my problems.
I have purchased a bricked Dopod with HTC logo on it. Previous owner told me that it was Dopod (I don't know exactly which one - C800 or C858) with a Chineese WM 5 OS. He was trying to make HardSPL but he didn't realize that it is recommended for Heralds with higher IPL/SPL.
Now I can only launch Bootloader (with IPL/SPL 1.11.0001) mode but still without oportunity to flash - even with RUU from Dopod (RUU_Herald_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.7.707.3_02.69.90_Ship_R.exe). This RUU seems to be too old for my Dopod. I couldn't find any other (newer) one.
Has anybody got RUU for Dopod suitable for 1.11.0001 IPL/SPL? Or maybe someone who owns working Dopod with IPL/SPL 1.11.0001 could make a backup of his ROM and we could change the mentioned RUU to be able to flash 1.11.0001 SPL?
What do you think?
I'm waiting for your responses and opinions.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Martin.
Hello again.
I have some new ideas.
Could someone verify if I'm on the right track?
I have used NBHextract tool to extract .nbh file from RUU_Herald_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.7.707.3_02.69.90_Ship_R.exe and realized that there are 2 .nb files which are SPL and IPL for my DOPOD. During editing those 2 files we can notice that they include "1.09.0001" string. File 01_G4IPL.nb includes only one "1.09.0001" string and file 00_G4SPL.nb includes just two "1.09.0001" strings.
What if I'll change those strings to "1.11.0001", as it's shown now in the bootloader on my device, and than recompile .nbh file for using in RUU process...
Will it work without total bricking my DOPOD?

as i know it, all the spl flashing methods other than original RUU (it needs to be signed) require a 4+ SPL/IPL. I would just send it in. Changing the string won't work because it's not identified by name but function
I'm just wondering how the ROMUpdateUtility is checking if dedicated .nbh suits to current SPL and IPL. As I've mentioned above, I've tried to use official DOPOD Herald RUU (with SPL/IPL 1.09.0001 included) and it doesn't suits my device with 1.11.0001. Why? CID should be the same and the only differences are in SPL and IPL. As it's official RUU I thought it would work even on my device with higher SIPL/IPL. When I realize that it doesn't work I'm wondering if the way with changing the SPL and IPL strings in .nbh file will do the job.
Now I think that the reason of non flashing, even with official RUU, could be corrupted CID-block after using HardSPL with low IPL/SPL. I've read thread about similar problem with Wizard. The question is: how to restore the CID block in our bricked devices? I'm not even sure if this theory with CID-block is a reason...
What do you think about such a trick:
- Run RUU on someone's working HTC device but only until the moment, when it wants you to click the last button to finally proceed with flashing. (This step is to let RUU to know that this RUU is correctly dedicated to our device). It's a kind of fake for RUU, cause our CID doesn't much the CID of ROM included in RUU.
- Next disconnect working device from the USB and connect your bricked device with launched bootloader mode
- Next click the final button to launch flashing in RUU application. If the process of CID matching was done before thit step, the flasher should start and let us flash our bricked device. But I'm sceptic to this solution. If it was so trivial, everyone could flash his device with different ROMs so easy...
I can't try this trick cause I don't have working HTC. What do you think? Will it work or not?
