Hi,
Does anyone know of an application which can be used to toggle power (i.e. activate & deactivate) to the phone without 'tapping' on the phone Icon ?
Alternatively, does anyone know how to do it ? - extended Tapi commands ?
Thanks.
I dont know of any application - but you can turn the phone on and off by holding down the "hang up" hardware button to the right of the d-pad at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds.
Actually, this doesn't seem to completely turn off the *whole* radio I don't believe. It may turn off the RF portion, but it doesn't do everthing.
In the early versions of the T-Mobile PPCPE on the USA network, my device (and others) would frequently give up making and receiving calls etc. Turning the radio off/on or doing a soft reset sometimes helped, but interestingly opening the SIM door would always do the business. It appears that opening the SIM door powers down even more of the radio side of the phone, and (obviously) makes it do more afterward like re-reading the SIM etc.
Anyway...just thought I'd throw that observation out there ...
cheers,

The hardware power button on the Kaiser is the worst I've ever used... (Do HTC actually do any user-testing?)
Can anyone point me in the direction of source code or an application that will re-map the power (on/off) to another hardware button? The rather useless "OK" button next to the scroll-wheel would be a nice alternative.
I'm aware of one or two applications that will suspend a pocket pc (which you can obviously map to a hardware button) but none that will allow bringing the device out of suspend via a specific, designated button.
Cheers,
Steve
I quite like the position of the on/off button it makes sure that you dont switch the phone on/off without meaning to, the camera button to me seems a tad too prominent and lends to getting caught more so than most buttons but thats what the soft lock is for (press and hold red phone, for those that didn't know).
I am pretty sure there are going to be means to do what you want but not until the phones are more discovered.
Russ
Thanks.
I'm aware of the option to lock the thing with the call-end button. But that doesn't turn the phone off...
In the past I've stuffed PDAs into the waterproof plastic cases you can buy for navgational use outdoors, but the power button on the Kaiser is so inaccessible that using it in one of these cases makes turning it on or off pretty much impossible.
The ideal solution would be some software that maps to the centre button of the D-Pad, with a press-and-hold turning the device on and off. I could write the necessary code to map the button and turn the phone off, but I've no idea what's neccessary to turn it on again!
Steve
Steve is right!
I'd pay for a utility that gave me _full_ access to remap _all_ of the buttons to _any_ function including power.
Does anyone have the reg code to access the "inaccessible" buttons on the Tilt (I don't want to install a different rom, but I don't mind editing the registry...)
tia
I finally found a power utility to restart the device via on screen selection that looks good too. However, one other function I need it to do is shut down without having to press the side button for 5 seconds and then confirm with on screen touch.
I've read in other theads that ShutXP is meant to fully switch off the device but on my v1615 it simply switches the display off (locks the screen etc, just as if the power button was depressed momentarily).
Is there a bug with the v1615 (Vodafone branded TyTn II/Kaiser) and this tool? Does anyone else have a Kaiser and the ShutXP tool and experience this issue? Perhaps I have something else installed which is causing it not to shutdown properly??
I've noticed a DWORD registry entry for ShutXP in HKLM\Software\PPCSpft\psShutXP\VideoPowerOff which has a default value of 0. Setting this to 1 doesn't seem to make a difference to any of the features.
OK, I'll ask it in a slightly different way as I've done a little more searching around and cannot find any tools to do this...
How do you switch off the TyTn II without pressing the side power button?
i.e. have a shortcut in the HTC Launcher which powers down the device similar to psShutXP but not just to sleep??
I'm talking about completely switching the device off - not just putting it to sleep. Pressing the power button for more than 4 seconds allows you to switch the device off, completely.
PS shutxp
Have you heard of PSShutXP??
Have used it before... does what you desrcibe...

PsShutXP is not able to do that. I think it isn't even possible with any software. (AFAIK)
Thanks johanromijn, couldn't think of any other way of making it any more clearer...
I've read somewhere about a command prompt interface on the ppc which can emulate many functions. Do you know about this? I'm sure it could do many power functions but I can't for the life of me find the same one I read about.
Pressing the button simply sends a software command so perhaps it can be captured and saved to a shortcut on the touch screen. I could understand the difficulty if it were a hardware switch! Unfortunatly, the button capture software I've used doesn't register the button press and the device just warns me about loosing any unsaved data before powering off - screen capture attached.
I just don't want to waste battery unnecessarily over night or elsewhere when the device isn't required to be on.
Anyone got any suggestions??

Given that you'd normally need to press the power button to get it out of powersaving mode before doing any screen tapping anyway, other than the fact shutting the device down takes 5 seconds more, I don't see any advantage to having a fully screen tap method of powering off. In fact, to the contrary, it may result in unwanted accidental shutdowns eg when putting the device in pockets etc when the screen may accidentally be touched/tapped in the wrong place if not put into powersaving mode first.
Install 888PowerOff it will put a shortcut that you can place where you want in the start menu etc, still asks for verification but still faster than power button
Maybe you should just hire someone to do the work for you. Powering the phone off by holding a button is very hard work.
Lots of reasons
I'ts not as if you can't set the attribute of the shortcut to hidden and call it, to schedule it, or in my case, I'd like to use PhoneAlarm to trigger it when to power gets down to 10%, still allowing me to make outbound calls, that is if I'm not obsessively watching my battery while people I don't really need to talk to are calling me.
Not to mention with WinMo, I'm always telling people 'just hang on.' I can't even power down as fast as they can.
If I assign it to a long-press on another hardware key I can just reach in my pocket and press; I don't have to dig the thing out, hold the button for what on my unit comes out to 7 sec, tap, and put the thing back. Discretion is always nice.
I'd really prefer to skip the whole PowerOffWarning.exe/ShutXP bit, and just power off. My phone is not my heart, it can stop for a few minues once in a while.
Power off HTC TyTN II by software
I have the same question with my HTC TyTn II and have researched it for a few weeks now; even contacted HTC technical support - but they did not an answer. I did find a software that will fully power down the device (XdaShutdown).
But since I have had other HTC smartphones, Blacberry devices, etc., that would definitely fully power-off (not just the screen or go into Standby mode, etc.) - what I was really looking for is an app that would power-off the device at a scheduled time. Used to have a program called CTScheduler which did this on my former Smartphone (WM5). But this app does not seem to work on WM6.
If most Smartphones and Blackberry devices can do (either by 3rd party app or within the device itself...) scheduled power-off-- why can't some of these HTC Pocket PC devices be made to do same?

Hi all, i'm just after some help with AE button on my Diamond. I've done all the usual searches but to no avail.
I've installed AEB and setup 'long press of volume up' to turn display on/off. This is so i can save battery life when i'm using gps software without losing my current gps positions.
The problem i have is that the volume up button i've configured only works on the main today screen. Once i'm into a program it does not work.
Have i done something wrong maybe or is it just not possible?
Thanks friends.
Anyone?
How can I make AEButton work other than just in today screen?
- sorry i am desperate!
The new tilt sensor program GSEN has an option to turn the screen off when you put the phone face down. It'll solve your problem...
Dear experts,
I have HTC tytn ii which i bought from Singapore (in 2008) when I was working there. Now I have shifted back to India and there are some issues with my phone and local HTC support people said they cannot help since the handset is bought from singapore. I wont be going back to Singapore and their support hotline is also down, infact Singapore dont have one. Did a lot of search on net and came across this forum. I hope to receive some guidance from all the tech experts.
I did see FAQ and sticky threads but its too techy and dont wanna take any wrong step. Following is the list of problems:
1. I cannot receive/disconnect calls using the front buttons (green & red). Infact except the center button none of them is working.
2. The roller key on left side top - push function is operational but the roller function is not working.
3. Query key board - None of the keys are working cannot type. When i push the soft reset button (right side top button which we use for standby) then caps light on query keyboard turn on and when i slide the keyboard in I can see Fn button light on.
I have reset the phone using clear storage but the problem still persists.
I would be very thankfull if anyone can guide me through. I am not sure whether its a hardware problem or some drivers problem.

where are the experts?????????? kindly help
It seems to me that the ribbon cable inside the phone is not inserted completely or is broken. If you take the phone apart you might be able to reseat the cable and see if that helps.
