since the new Rom-Update it is driving me crasy - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

I have a really annoying problem with my P4350.
Before the official Update i was running HERALD_WM6.0_4.12.07.06.PDAVIET with 4 MB Pagepool.
it worked really nice and i had never any problem with it.
Now i updated to the official HTC WM6 Rom. First i also installed the OS from PDAVIET over the Official one. But then i encountered after a little time the Bootloop of death.
it was always rebooting, and removing of the microsd did not really helped at the bootloop it was only stopping at the bootscreen and hang there forever.
the only chance was a Hardreset. After that i installed only the official Rom from HTC from the Bootloader. Now i am running only the official WM6 Rom and it is also rebooting after some time. i did not installed anything that i didnt installed also in the original WM5 Rom, and SD-Card removing also dont help.
After some Hardresets i installed a Safemode tool.
now i encountered another Bootloop and i can enter the Safemode. There i sometimes disable a Homeplugin, then it boot again. But not for long, it will hang again in the Bootloop. I have no idea wath File/Program is doing this thing and i have not many applications that boot at startup. It is also happening if i have no Home-Plugins enabled (from Safemode disabled).
can someone help me at this, or is it only possible that i downgrade or never install any application(wath is also no guarantee that it will not again enter the bootloop)
(sorry for every error in my text because i am German)

How long do you wait before giving up when you pull out the SD card? When I installed the home screen I got the continuous reboot and when I took out the sd card it stayed at the green windows mobile screen for about 2-3 minutes before booting into the home screen.
Also, have you tried this: http://www.modaco.com/Continuous-reboots-t256186.html ?

thanks for your help.
But i already waitet for way more than 3 minutes. i think it was ~ a half hour.
I already tried to rename the OMAP850_SDHC.dll but with no luck. The File is in the Rom and it is not alowed to rename this File. (if i look at the Settings from Resco Explorer ROM is activated)
my OMAP850_SDHC.dll is 46.38 kB big and from 02.07.07 5:44 if this information can help.
at the moment i try to avoid a reboot from my device...

I think i found the troublemaker.
I deleted a windows-design that i liked and used in all Rom-versions, and since i deleted the file it seems that the reboot-problem is solved.
If my Herald will hang again in a reboot-loop, i will write here again.
so long... thanks for the help.

Help Please ! Won't go past the Splash Screen?

I've been trying to get my old extended rom and new Qtek OS on my Wizard (Vario).
But now it gets stuck in the spash screen (ie the one giving the ROM numbers).
I've tried putting the wizard into bootloader mode and I can flash RUU's but when it resets it still gets stuck on the spash screen and won't go any further !!!????
What can I do ??
Please Help
Cheers
John
I should say that I had flashed using button's ROM RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.html
and this worked fine!
I then copied across my T-mobile Extended ROM and again everything seemed OK.
BUT then I tried to restore my new saved OS ROM using aWizard and this caused a freeze on my Wizard. It was after a hard reset that the wizard stopped at the splash screen.
Now of course I'm limited in my options because Activesync won't work until the Wizard has fully booted up.
I have tried setting the Wizard into bootloader mode and tried several ROM's (RUU Installer ones) but every time the correct splash screen comes up with the new ROM numbers but that is as far as it gets.
I also noticed on hard reset that you get the following message
Format FAT partition
Format failed
it then goes to the splash screen as before.
Are there any other things I can try Or will I have to send it back to T-mobile for a replacement??
(It's only 2 months old and I have re-flashed it with the orginal T-mobile ROM - but still won't go past the splash screen!!)
I live in hope
John
I have this EXACT same problem!
I can reflash any ROM but it will not go past the splash screen. Only difference was I wasn't playing with my extended ROM. I flashed the AKU2 QTEK ROM yesterday and have been fine through several soft resets, etc. This last time I was uninstalling phonealarm and after a soft reset I got a "could not find smswakeup.exe" (or something similar) and it's been stuck ever since! I also get the "Format Failed" message. Can anyone help!?
I think I'm going to have to send it back to T-mobile and hope they give me a replacement. Something is wrong, it doesn't seem to make any difference what ROM I used.
I think I'll reload the T-mobile shipped ROM grom the FTP site and send it back - and claim ignorance that it it suddenlt freezed and now won't boot up! - Bummer!!!
Right I've logged a fault and it will be sent back - let's hope T-mobile can't detect it's been unlocked and had several ROM updates - I suspect they will try a ROM update themselves then give up ???
The worrying thing though is that it IS possible to kill your phone with updates - maybe it was when I used aWizard to try and restore a ROM that did it??? I'll be more carefull next time!!
this has just happened to one of the devices im flashing at the moment.... absolulty f**king raging
i wish teher was a solution!!? anyone got any ideas?
activesync wont find it, so aWizard wont work.
i can flash between 3 roms without any problems (1.5.x 1.6.x 2.x) but always hangs on the splash screen. i have flashed back to the default rom that it came installed with it so i could just send it back to o2 (only 2 days old!)
i would rather just get it sorted by myself thoough so if anyone has ANY ideas then please let me know.
thank you!
Good luck! after about 3 days of trying different types of firmware, I gave up and sent it to expansys, for repair. And it looks like they've lost the bloody thing now.

tryed to write os with awizzard after changing extended_rom.
kills phone.
format failed..
Tryed different os's from win util - failed
upgraded with sd card methode worked.
in short :
you need a working wizzard to make a os dump on sd card.
Connect to wizzard with usbterm or romupdate.exe or simular.
do a rs2all command to dump os to sd card.
stick this card in broken phone.
hold voice comm button while resetting.
On ask press voice comm button again.
it bow restores the sd backup to phone.
saved mine.....
btw sd card backup can be read ad write by pc with util ntrw.exe .
so if you don't have a working dump i can upload one.

hard reset your device and hold your Camera Button prior to starting the wizard back on.
when the device turns back on, you will get the boot screen. Plug in your USB cable and load one of the known ROMS like the second to last iMate ROM.
This will allow you to get past the splash screen.

Don't worry, I met the same problem as you before, almost lost my hope, but finally I managed to fix it.
The solution is simple, that is to find an original SD card backup image from your wizard or others, then try to restore it in the bootloader mode. In my case, it said checksum error or sth else after begin restoring, and it gave up. Then I put my wizard into bootloader mode, picked one offical released RUU package, start reflash again. Finnally, I found the wirzrd works again for me after reboot.
I guess the principle is that the SD restore will destroy some import flash data structure before it said wrong, then the RUU package will rebuilt it wholely in the next reflash.
Hope this helpful, and sorry for my bad english.
There is hope
Last week after trying to downgrade to the original Cingular ROM on my 8125 using aWizard I ended up with a device that was close to being a paperweight. At least I thought so until I read and read and finally was able to get it to the bootloader and then plugged in the USB cable and ran the RUU for the new Qtek ROM (2.17). Guess what happened, yeah it worked. To my surprise I had a perfect device after 15 minutes.
For about 3 hours I thought I was a toast. Never will I do that again.

Problems with boot-loop

Okay, so I just recently flashed to Touch-IT 4.4 by itje, and it's been working great. However, I just softreset my phone and now it's stuck in a boot loop just after finishing with the first splash with the text Touch-IT in silver..
It should probably be said that it reboots by itself, which I don 't think is normal for a bricked phone?
So I'm a bit stuck and don't really know what to do; Is my phone bricked (in which case I'll just have to unbrick it, which isn't a problem since there's a certain good guide that explain how to and I've already used it once), or what's wrong with my phone?
Meh, turns out it's possible to flash it with the hacked installer as well.. So I'm just going to reinstall the phone.
I just have one thing to say to all of you guys doing all this work on the ROM of Herald/Wing:
YOU. ****ING. ROCK. <3

Take out your mSD card while rebooting and your device will start up fine
Is it the card that's doing it? Because I've soft-reset before without problems just fine. <.<
Gaah, I wish I had known that (or waited, but I was in a hurry to get my phone up and running again because I was expecting a call)..
It's not the cards fault. Somewhere here in the forum it was briefly discussed, but I can't find it right now.
It was said, that a certain DLL for SDHC support causes the looping.
It's called something like omap650sdhc.dll or so (you need to find out yourself, should be easy)
and by deleting or renaming it, it should solve the whole problem.
Never tested it myself, but it will not harm your device if you delete/rename that file.
That's the driver for the SD card drive... Depending on the rom you're using, it might be stuck inside the rom so you can't delete the file.
I asked Chikenbull on here to make a program that will rename that Omap file and reboot the device. I haven't tested it yet, but here it is.
Remember to use this AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I've been doing this for the last month to avoid a HardReset. I've been having the boot-loop problem since i installed the HTChomeCustomizerV80 and/or HTCplus, and read about the warning too late: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326689
I've since removed the Today plugins, and the only annoyance remaining are the Backlight adjust function not working, and having to remove the microsd everytime I restart/power-on the Wing.
As I said, I'm trying to avoid a Hard Reset because I have 30+ programs installed and it's gonna take me a few days to reinstall all of them. I searched here with no success... all I found are the same saying "remove microSD at boot", which is what I'm doing, but it's a pain.
Tried GAMBIT999's suggestion, but can't remove omap850sdhc.dll from the \windows\ folder. Would DUPRADEE's suggestion of renaming this file with the program solve the restart-loop problem? Or is there other methods I haven't found, that'll save me the trouble of a Hard reset?
-cheers
edit: PROBLEM SOLVED!! thanks duprade
omap850sdhc.dll couldn't be deleted, but just changing the extension to omap850sdhc.000 solved the problem!!! Now I can restart without taking out the microSD!!! w00t w00t w00t !!!
Check for errors under Windows
One more possibility I forgot to mention which work fine for me.
After having the boot-loop symptom I took out my mSD card and checked it for errors under Windows.
I let Windows fix the errors and everything worked fine afterwards.
The procedure didn't took long even on a non USB2.0 port.
No card removing or file renaming anymore.
Folks having the boot-loop may try this solution out first before renaming/deleting the DLL.
My problem was SOLVED by simply renaming \Windows\omap850_sdhc.dll
It's funny how if you do not know the cause of the problem, SEARCH is useless. But once you find the answer (thanks Gambit999 and Duprade), going back to Search turns up pages of the same question posted over and over.
Anyways, credit goes to Paul at MoDaCo who found the solution on June 26:
http://www.modaco.com/content/HTC-Atlas-Atlas-MoDaCo-com/256186/Continuous-reboots-/
Changing to a blank new SD did nothing... but by Renaming the file, the PPC will reload the uncorrupted file from the ROM.

Trinity running 6.1 Elegance- totally bricked - please help me!!

Hi all,
I have been visiting these forums for 2 years now and have downloaded some great tools and ROMs to enhance my Trinity, however something all of a sudden has gone very wrong!
I upgraded to WM6.1 Elegance edition about 3/4 months ago, CID unlocked the phone about a month ago and everything has been working like a dream.
However just today, I attempted to turn the volume down on my phone during a meeting (I always forget to normally!) and there was no display. After few battery resets, again no display. It starts up, loads the the Elegance splash screens and then hangs on the screen before when the OS should appear.
My decision was to flash the ROM again. I cant flash using Activesync as it wont pick up on the hung screen, so I started the bootloader and got as far as 1% of the flash and it will restart. So I tried the SD Card method when resulted in a "loading" screen appearing for a few seconds and then it goes back to the standard bootloader and displayed a 00068002 error.
I am out of ideas, I hear mtty.exe is a good program for this kind of thing, but what I want to know is if this is fixable or if I should give up!
I have been working on this since 2pm today none stop!
Can any of you guys give me any suggestions please?!?!?
Kind regards,
Jonathan
Should be a cinch
Did you SPL the Phone before flashing roms?
If you put the phone into the bootloader mode The RGB screen and kill of activesync you should be able to run one of the flash update programs.
If I have flashing problems its usually Active sync so I kill it then run the flash program.
I've got a sneaky suspision your battery might be causing the problem.
Hi there, thanks for the reply. As I was new to upgrading I havent used SPL on the phone before flashing the ROMS. I did use an unlock tool recently as i wanted to try a different network SIM to see if it worked when I was in South America, so the phone is unlocked to all networks. Are you saying if I SPL now it should sort the problem out? If so how do I do this withour ActiveSync working - can you use SD?
Another thing I failed to mention was that when I start an upgrade and it follows all the steps, it doesnt say the current ROM on the screen where you press update ROM. It just gives the name of the new ROM and the current one is left blank.
I have disabled Active Sync before attempting the update. It seems to go through fine and then the phone restarts wafter 1% of the update.
What makes you think it is the battery? I am happy to spend under 20 pound on ebay if you think it will fix the issue!
try unbrick.bat.......my trinity was also stuck.......unbrick.bat save my day....
The same happened to me several time....I could not find a solution other than this one:
1. Flash the official HTC ROM.
2. Flash the required ROM then.
it works for my TrinTy.

Phone slow and often doesnt work at all

Hi people,
I recently decided to update my touch diamond to wm6.5.
Already got HardSPL 1.93 some time ago together with the swift rom.
Now I downloaded this rom:
BOGYSOFT WM6.5 Build 23060
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552162
And followed the instructions carefully, put the rom on the internal storage and started the update process as usual.
After it had finished installing I already noticed it took the phone way to long to completely boot into windows.
After a few reinstalls I finally got it to work but it was very slow and often I couldnt even unlock the damn thing.
At this point I cant even get into windows anymore.
Now ofcourse I want this rom removed from my phone, but is that even possible when I cant boot it into windows??
I need to have an USB connection to put on another rom, so is that possible without windows?
Thanks for your help!
I got the same problem. anybody help us?
I had a problem with an earlier version of this ROM, and the fix turned out to be quite simple.
I flashed my stock ROM back on and then re-flashed BOGYSOFT, ever since then been no problems what so ever.
I had flashed a few different ROM's to try before this it's possible I suppose that there may of been some corruption with repeated flashing.
I think the hardspl is affecting the phone's stability, cause returned back to the stock after flashing some cooked roms and it's bad more than before.....
any news?

Yes but dont you need to acces the phones internal storage to add a new rom?
Cause I dont know how to do that when I'm not even able to acces windows.
Anybody?
Is my phone bricked or is there a way to connect to the internal storage without WM?
Now it doesnt even boot the rom anymore,
The image has even dissapeared from my internal storage.
It is now stuck in the Bootloader telling me to trigger the USB host.
Any ideas?
My Diamond has been pretty unreliable over the last couple of days, but I used MTTY to format the internal flash, loaded the latest Gen.Y ROM (I don't think it really matters which ROM tho) and now it works perfectly again. Plus to me it seems a bit faster. Anyway I couldn't be happier.
If you can get into the bootloader with USB I'd certainly give the instructions in this flash a go (post 3 or 4 only if you're on Windows XP).

thanks mate!

Xperia Restarting problem with Custom Roms

So i have been using Custom ROMs for about a year now with no problems. However, recently i flash to the Valkyrie Firestorm 4.4 (i think) leo and when i attempted to restart my fone it would either hang on the sony erricson logo or it would boot up like it does after a flash. As in it would run the customisation and wipe all my contacts and other information, but strangely enough the clock would remain on the correct time.
This has happened with every firestorm i have tried, which are: 4.4 leo, 4.4 manila and the 4.5 leo. I am going to try a different ROM to see if i still get the problem. has anyone had this problem?
I've re-flashed my hard-spl multiple times to no avail.
Yup I've had the same problem with itje's touch it 14 rom. I have no idea why this is happening, it already occured twice with me.
I had the same problem with the valkyrie 4.4 rom, Itje's Toucht-it Leo v10 and Toucht-It Xperience v2, UnOff 6.5. And also with other versions of itje's Touch-it because i remember seeing the HTCpedia.com customization screen a lot
Every time my phone hung and then when i push the reset button it take's a long time and then it is back to first run. or it does nothing and stays at the touch-it start-up screen.
Could it be a hardware failure like something with the backup batery in the phone? when power goes off it doesn't save data and then when you turn it on it thinks it is first run?
I can always tell when it is going to happen if the favourite programs on the programs tab dont work anymore. When I want to start a program from the tab it says "location not found" or something. After that I will likely have a system freeze and after that I have a hard reset, same sympoms as Aerox912.
So maybe it has something to do with the programs tab?
I am having the same issue with Christians 3.201 build.
Also during the installation it will often hang on the install of Opera or Opera Beta.
But I tried re-downloading and reflashing 6 times before I gave up and went back to an older ROM.
Looking forward to the next version so I can try again. I really like the Firestorm but I also really like the Panels.
Now I just need to find out how to install the SPB Mobile Shell 3 as a panel like on Christians and I would probably stay with my SEX1 build.
Using itje's touch it 15 RC2 and it sometimes, for no reason, phone just reboots. It used to happen with version 14 as well. Never used to have that problem before then.
I tried with rotastrains Blaze rom. the latest edition and i am still getting the same issues. I too, can tell when it is going to happen. When the programs can't be run anymore or if the phone freezes and then i need to turn it off, i can almost guarantee that will happen.
Im glad to see im not the only one with the problem, but isn't there anyone with a solution? I've tried everything and i really cant put up with having to wait 15 minutes until my phone is usable everytime it restarts.
Guys, i had this problem with my Diamond recently & i can say that it's more than frustrating.
try this option, I'm not sure if this is the EXACT same process for the Xperia but it did solve my issues. Perhaps scheduling a daily backup of PPCPIMBackup will help keep info up 2 date when the dreaded lockup happens?
hope this helps
flash a stockrom and then the custom rom and the problem should be gone
Why would that help?
I now tried cristians rom, and had the same problem again within one day. I'm now gonna try the MTTY (format) option, see if that helps...

This simple solution seems to work fine for me. Thanks man!
The MTTY solution for formatting the phones ROM area worked just fine for me
Can you point me the mtty formatting method? Please.
I also had this problem once at my x1 and once at my girlfriends diamond. Seems a reflash with a stockrom and after that flash the custom rom again solves this problem.
Atleast it worked for me.
I put on the R3AA014 ROM and am still seeing the problems.
Is there another Stock ROM that would work better?
And I have tried to look up the mtty method and all I find are people talking about it, but not the actual method.
Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe it isn't a software problem but a hardware problem. Incase no rom fix it.

Could you please describe the process.
I tried the The DEFINITIVE MTTY Thread but the task 29 command did nothing... Though i'm not sure what should happen.
For the Xperia, I heard that the command is Task 28 instead of Task 29 for the MTTY process

Hm... i tried that but that did nothing.
happened to me many times..most frequent is my X1 will restart itself every half an hr...very frustrating
SOLUTION:
Format Your SD card (don't be lazy and just delete the old stuff and put new rom file in there).....put a fresh copy of the .nbh file in root.
Hard reset after flash.
Problem should be gone
