Ok so if you dont know the 8925 has probably the worst battery life of any HTC phones I have ever used. It was like they decided to put all the latest and greatest into a shell sexier than hell, then give it a old 8125 battery,
The 8125 had what a 1250mAh battery, so they give the 8925 a 1350mAh, makes no since. I am still use to my P990i having a 1500mAh battery and getting 7-9 hours of play time and a 10-18 day stand by time.
Are their any upgraded batteries out yet? if no I may just have to get a second battery and charger cause I cannot go the last 4 hours of my day without a phone. Oh and a car charger is out of the question. I swear those things were made by battery companies to kill you battery faster than shizzit.
Actually, I have found that after a few full charges and running the battery down to about 5% it lasts pretty good.
The first day I had it I had to charge it after about 4-5 hours. Now I am using it most of the day.
if I'm 3Ging and/or GPSing, it goes fast.
if i'm not doing those but doing anything else, it lasts a long time. Easily a whole day.
3G is a huge strain on battery life. Don't expect to get anywhere near the battery life you did with the 8125 if you are using 3G.
With my 8525 I would get 9 hours of battery life at the most (100%-0). With the Tilt, I have been getting about 12 hours of battery life with about the same amount of use.
I run WL push email all day and browse the web pretty heavily.
Make sure to condition your battery by running it all the way down to 0 before you recharge a few times.
I have been conditioning the hell out of my battery so far, 100% down to %5ish, 100 to 5 100 to 5, only charges it and gone through like 3 cycles so far. Hopefully I will see something soon
anyone know of any batteries out there yet? if no I will put an order in for another OEM HTC

lol. that's a trust worthy site.
Just a note - conditioning a LiIon battery has zero affect on its charge capacity.
I'm getting between 8-10 hours of very active use and 10-16 hours of life when I'm not on the silly thing all the time. SPB Pocket Plus calculates my battery life at around 10-11 hours, and it's usually pretty good at estimating it once it's seen enough data.
Nevertheless, I can also attest to the fact that the battery life of my Kaiser is increasing. I'd say its about 25-30% better than when I first started using it a few weeks ago.

I am hoping Slueth is right about the battery life increasing over time. Mine isn't a 4th of what the 8125 or 8525 was. The comments on 3G being a huge drain I can't agree with. The 8525 and 8125 had the same battery consumption and I could get a full day of regular usage on both.
I can say using the Kaiser rom over the at&t rom made a noticeable improvement.
I live in HSDPA nation [Bay Area]. My tilt gets pushed to limits everyday. I have mobile shell installed with weather update, push email and active sync through exchange server, use ICS with laptop on the go. I can get through the day with heavy use and the battery never falls below 40%. At 11:00PM last night, I had 75% left on my battery level indicator.
I would say it's about 20-30% better than Hermes' battery performance.

That's AMAZING! I wish I could have spent 75% by then and still have 25% left. I use everything you mentioned too but I barely make it t 7 or 8 pm before my tilt turns off at 1% battery level so I have to stick it in the charger as soon as I get home from work at about 6'ish.

Add the battery meter to one of your tabs and look at the options for the meter by tap & hold - options. It allows you to set a fixed battery life or use a statistically estimated duration.

It all depends on your actual data usage. If you aren't transmitting a lot of data, then the HDSPA usage won't have a significant effect because it isn't on all that frequently. If you do, you'll definitely notice a difference.
Mine was showing about 75% this morning and is now at 57% (5:30pm) - that is following three or four short phone calls, several web page downloads, several synchronisations via bluetooth and ten or fifteen minutes experimenting with the business card scanner.
I do agree with other comments here that battery life improves after several charge/discharge cycles. This Kaiser replaces my old Hermes - I think the battery life may not be quite as good, but it isn't vastly worse - trouble is that it has so many fun things to play with that you just do more with it! Just the GPS alone will draw that battery down if you use it too much - my hand-held Garmin can flatten a pair of high capacity AAs in less than 24 hours - and that is not powering a 3g transceiver and bluetooth at the same time.

i must say, i have the case of not able to leave my phone in my pocket. I always have to have my phone out, turn on from sleep and do something with it. If I'm able to resist this temptation, my phone can last the whole day going down to 50%. If I'm messing around with it, then it could go below.
I noticed that Skype is a MAJOR draw on the battery.
When I had skype on and logged in, the USB charger could barely hold the charge even ... when I was also using GPS with Google maps the battery life was visibly going down.
After using the device more normally now I get quite decent battery life.
The real test will come when I fly cross country and read an ebook on it.
If i can resist the urge to play with the GPS i can get about 2 days out of mine, but my useage is pretty light. I am using Direct Push with my exchange server, and get about 15 emails a day. The TCP timeout on my firewall is set to 1 hour, so i think that helps too. I am using the black & blue comm manager with 3g option, and i leave 3g off(it switches between 3g and Edge all day at work, and i heard that can lower battery significantly). I only enable 3g if i tether, and even then 3g coverage in my area SUCKS! Verizon has EVDO everywhere here, at&t needs to get their ass in gear . Overall i'm happy with the battery life. I've setup a few PDA's for some of my users here so i wasn't expecting anything great (although our two blackjack users seem very happy with battery life).
Just placed an order for the 1600 mAh Tilt battery
Hi,
I was confused by the different batteries available for the Tilt at www.batteryupgrade.com , so at I e-mailed them this message,
Just found your site, and am interested in purchasing a battery for my ATT Tilt/HTC Kaiser however; when I looked at my battery it does say KAIS 160, but the P/N is 35H00086-00M, and not 35H00088-00M. The device is ATT Branded, and in the device info on the phone, model number just says Kaiser, not Kaiser120 etc. Is there any difference, what battery should I get?
they gave me this link-
http://www.batteryupgrade.com/product_detail.php?productId=75070772&searchphrase=htc%2520kaiser
Just waiting to see if it does help alot, if not, I'll at least have two batteries now! lol

Terrible so far... but i've only been through one charge cycle, almost. I topped off the out of the box battery. From there it's been plugged into the computer while i was adding w***z (i mean perfectly legal software). So I've never actually winded it down to 0.
Is it bad to keep topping it off like this?
The battery life i've been having probably wouldn't even last a day but i should probably go down to 5% before i charge it again and see if it improves.
My motto with this phone is "Who needs decent battery life if you've got GPS, a 3MP camera, an unbelievable library of third pary software, 3G, a fully qwerty keyboard, gorgeous touch screen, and tilting screen?"
hey is there a tool or software with which i can check if my battery is broken or if it has full capacity? my battery lasts only 2 days, this sucks!
if i use a 1600 mah battery, will the percentage be displayed correctly? or can the tytn only handle 1350 battery and i have to take the 1600 out and put it back in?

two days is not bad. mine wouldnt last more than 24 hours due to the way is use it. i have bluetooth on all the time, wifi on nearly all day and my display is set to the brightest mode and i turn it on very often. i dont expect the battery to last longer than 24 hours.
its a agood habit to keep pumping electricity into it every now and then
Yeah, I need to charge every night. It's not the battery per se, it's just the Tilt/Kaiser uses a lot of power, especially if you check email often, use BT and wifi a lot (GPS too eats up power). I don't use push mail at all, so that helps stretch the battery (I just manually check my mail periodically throughout the day).
I think many people would say if you are getting 2 days on a full charge, that is great!
Personally, I just got a second charger for my desk at work, and have a car charger in the glove box. If I know I'm going to be away from those for a lengthy period (weekends say) I have a AA battery powered emergency charger (from pocketsolutions.com) I can take with me.
Hi all,
I just wanted to tell my opninion about the standard (900mAh) battery.
I heard a lot of people complaining about the battery, I also complained about the battery. But that was only the first week when I got the phone. After a week or 2 the battery became better and better, every time I charged it up. Now I use the phone 3 days without charging , compared to the 1 day I could use the battery in the beginning, 3 days is very good. Things what I do in those 3 days are: Internet (umts, hspda), Reading RRS feeds, taking pictures, listening music. So the battery is quite good. And I am happy now!!
Unlike the good battery, I am going to buy a new battery (1350 mAh) Imagine how good it then will be, then I can use even more like 5 days.
I just gave my opninion because, before I bought the Diamond, I heard rumors about the battery, that was almost a reason for me not to buy the Diamond. Still I bought it, and I can't confirm these rumors.
THE BATTERY IS PERFECT, and the phone is great too (especcially with the v1.93 rom)
So don't listen to those rumors, and give your own opninion, I give this phone a 9!!
I have had my diamond a week, and i found that the battery would be flat before i got in from work (8:00-5:00) and thats with very moderate use.
Last time I charged it up, I didnt use the charger that came with it, but instead used a standard wall mains to usb charger (came with a blue tooth gps) and its now on its second day, and it has only lost 3 cells on the power info screen.
have been using the phone more than normal only thing i have done different is install the tweaked com.manager to turn 3g off (dont get 3g in the are im at any way) and it seems to be great now.
where did you find this tweaked manager?

just use advaced configuration tool. Go to Options, Comm manager and add '3g' to the tick boxes.
I've made a few tweaks with Schaps and TF3Dconfig and my battery has excellent life now. I think it does take a few days of charging and discharging to settle down but I can now go days with reasonable use
In my opinion it also depends on WHAT you use to charge up your battery. I mean, whether you use the stock charger, or 3rd party charger.
I bought a 3rd party charger (http://www.momax.net/products_detail.php?cid=2&scid=1523&brandcat=82&pid=11134) and the output is only 400mA, when compare to the stock charge (where the output is 1A), even thought both are fully charged, I observe that the one using stock charge, can last longer than the one charged by the momax one.
Anyone has the same experience?
I already posted my thoughts.
My MDA lasts longer when charged with the stock charger (5V , 1A) as opposed to charging from my PCs USB port (5V, 0.5A)
Thank you for confirming what I was experiencing.
Yep same here, the battery last around 2-3 days. Turning of around 12pm and back on around 8am.
And yes charging form the outlet takes less time and seems to give a better more solid charge.
And yes the tweaks help very much.
Hey guys we are just getting to know our Jewel.
Shes a friendly gal!!!

I just watch one movie in Coreplayer and the battery becomes half empty. The battery is a joke. Sorry, I love this phone, but HTC really dropped the ball on the battery.

Now it depends on the length of the movie doesn't it?
Another thing with ion-lit bats is that they require very controlled charge and that explains a lot of the problems experienced. I also believe the initial charging is important to respect. I charged mine for a full day initially, and noticed that it used all night for charging for a while (even the indicator was on full).
Today it was used for a few calls, had it on BT sync with my PC for a couple of hours, and used iGO GPS for 20 min, still leaving it 3/4 full. I could wish for more battery capacity - one week would be nice - but as long I only need charging at night I personally see no major issue. I have an extra battery or two as I tend to use the phine as MP3 player on long haul flights which I certainally prefer to the thicker backcover and the 1800 mAh battery.
when i got this diamond phone last week the battery performance
was bad serving me with less then a day worth of power where i
had to buy a second battery.
now that i have been off from work for a few days (3 days) i finaly
had the chance to cain this phone properly eg. flipping wifi on/off
through out the day listening to shoutcast, lenghty periods trying
to setup LAN, listening music while out on the road and checking
emails, looking on the net, yapping on the phone and sending txt messages.
to my supprise the battery seem to be holding up pretty good. now it
appears to be holding out till the end of the day where before i had to
carry two batteries now i think i can get away with carrying just one.
here are my stupid questions
1, does htc batteries get better performance after multiple charges?
2, did i have a semi faulty battery and now a miracle has happend?
3, am i just dreaming that the more i use the longer the battery stays on?
today i charged the bat. at 9am (ish) and now its 3,45pm. i still have 3 bars
remaining im supprised as from before a few days ago this was not the case.
im using the daimond with no mods and standard battery.

suprised!

hiya mate,
I am going through the same thing. First day I got the phone and battery was awful about 4 hours it lasted me! very shocked. but it is holding out.
I did charge the phone initially for about 12 hours as specified but don't know if that helps.
what i tend to find with new mobiles is that you have to charge fully and then DISCHARGE FULLY the phone numerous amount of times to get it to perform to the best of its abilities. I don't think its anything to do with HTC batteries, just the fact that new batteries have never been used and need to learn!

you are half right. this battery life is improving if you keep charging it but it is not advised to fully discharge them.
the fully charged-fully discharged method was for the old batteries with "memory".
somewhere in this forum, in the trinity forum somebody experimented the two ways of charging-discharging the battery. the conclusion was that it is better to charge the battery anytime, any occasion u have.
Indeed, the battery's performances (and this is applicable to all common batteries) will increase by time until it reaches its max capabilities.
To gain performance, the battery has to discharge and charge very frequently, or better, continuously. I don't really know how the Diamond manages it (meaning if the battery is full, will the device still get power from the battery if it is plugged on, or will it drain power from the cable. It could also drain from battery if it is fully charged and charge it in the same time, or it could simply always take it from the cable and charge the battery in less time)
The reverse is also true, meaning if you don't discharge/charge your battery frequently enough, its performances will decrease by time.
Also, if your battery discharges and charges all the time, it's lifetime will be longer than a battery that is only used once in a week.
I don't know if I made it clear, lol.
By the way, don't think that if you keep charging your battery you will end up with weeks of battery, there is a limit and it is 850mAh on the stock battery, if I remember correctly.
thanks for the tips some say discharging is good and some say dont.
all i know its 8:35pm and i have only used 1 bar from around 4:30
which now leave me with 2 bars. im jumping for joy because normally
by 6pm ish the battery would have already died.
with all the hammering today i cant believe it only took 2 bars in nearly
12 hours and thats with no extra charge from the psu and only 5 usb
connections to the pc to sync and add files totaling 2 - 5 minutes
on each connection.
now i can officially say this phone is "DA BOMB"
time to sell the e90 and e65
The thing that kills the battery on this phone above everything else is the GPS - knocks it out in 90minutes or less. If you were having fun (even for a few minutes) with it in your first few days, this might explain it...

yeha that would explain it but the thing is I haven't even installed TomTom or any other GPS related app!!! weird. but i've had it for about 4 days now and battery does seem to improve slightly on a daily basis.
Lately, I noticed that when charging my tilt with the charger, it takes forever to get to 65% and then in almost no time, jumps to 100%. Is that normal? Does something need to be done? Do I need a new battery? If so, what's recommended?
Separately, when using WIFI, it uses over 400 mA -- that's outrageous.. Any way of improving that, while still being able to stream audio (ie power saving settings may be an issue)?
What's a good battery meter to help debug things?
Thanks
I have the exact same deal going on with my battery charge. Started happening not too long ago. With the stock ROM and with hyperdragon III ROM, I always see the jump.
I'm not sure what the problem is but I figured it was a false charge in that the battery's capacity has really lowered from the original 1300mAh. Also, thus why your batter drains much faster than it does (so does mine). If anything, it's probably just a normal battery problem which could probably be solved if you got a new battery. I haven't tried (yet). The battery life went from 3 day's of casual use with some data connecting here and there, to 1 day and if im lucky, a day and a half.
Hope this helps out a little. And if anyone has the real solution, do tell. Thanks.
Regards,
K
I had the same problems. Took forever to charge. Battery life was horrible. Could only make a 3 minute phone call on a 100% charge before the phone would shut off. Ended up being the OEM battery was done. Lasted about 1 year on heavy use. Bout a battery/cradle charger from Amazon that came with an extra battery. Also bought another 1600mah battery. Both of them work great. No more charging problems.

I too think it's a faulty battery (which may still be covered under warranty). It's always a good idea with the TyTN II to have at least one spare battery for long trips etc (I have the original and 2 spares as well as a cradle which recharges spare batteries). The O/P should try another battery to confirm that works normally and if so and the original battery is still under warranty, contact HTC/The supplier to see what can be done. IF they need the phone (and I've never tried claiming on a battery under warranty), make sure it is fully reverted to 'as from the factory' status using all official ROM/Radio/SPL before sending it in.
Edit: The o/p could also try cleaning the battery terminals (using a cotton bud soaked in contact cleaner) to make sure high electrical resistance has got nothing to do with it.
