Has anyone switched to Mobile shell? Have you noticed much of a difference? In battery life, Memory Usage and speed of interface??
I am about to install it on mine and will try and give an indication of how things went...
I did... But i haven't notice any difference in battery life.. yet ! .. But; memory usage, interface speed is better than TF3D...
Nice I know have it on mine, I'm trying to figure out how to customise mobile shell to give the same functionaliy as touch flo as in not so complicated, links to opera instead of ie etc etc. Any ideas??
So far though I definantly like mobile shell more, touch flo is prettier but mob shell is far more functional in day to day use. Based on nothing than my hopes and dreams and use of less system recources I think my batt life might be better.

yes it does...search for...SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 Theme / Skin Collections Thread here in xda...where it all started
Has anyone tried this instead of the TouchFlo 3d?
How well does it perform?
I have it on my Touch (telecon NZ). I just use the Spb shel with WM7 skin. Also the pocket cm wm7 skin. Coupled with s2play it works very well, not a prticualr drain. Far nicer ntrfac thab the stnard wm6 today screen no matter how skinned.
Hello there,
this may be a little off-beat, but does anyone know if you can install and use pocket fritz 4 (or another top program, like shredder) on the Hero?
I have no idea!!
FRITZ?
...i wish i could take FRITZ with me wherever i went...although the only FRITZ i know of is the Gentlemens club down the street haha.
...sorry couldnt help
Hahaha got me there. I could have been a little more specific. There's more info on the program here:
Link
It says on the page: System Requirements: Pocket PCs or mobile phones with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5, 6.1, 6.0, 5.0 or Windows Mobile 2003 with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Touch screen. For installation: Windows PC with DVD drive. For activation: internet access (from the device or through your Windows PC).
So I guess you really need a windows mobile? Thats a big bummer! Is there a way to get a .cab working on a android-phone (thats not too complicated, so even a noob like me understands?)
Why wold you want that. The graphics are not that good. I have a Windows Mobile HTC Touch Diamond, that runs the NEXUS ONE Android(2.1)(the live wallpapers version) and on the A. Market there are a lot of chess apps that have a good user interface. But I was just giving you an idea.

Hiya!
Yup, I know there are some other chessprograms, but if you want to analyse a game on the go, I don't think there are much alternatives. Pocket Fritz is simply the best, and maybe even the only one that can analyse a position
the best
hi all ,
yes ! of course pocket fritz 4 is the best and ultimate, and hero of chess in ppc land !
with an elo perfomance near 2938! super grand master ! this means it playse and analaises
more powerful than Gary kasparov !
only for that ,I have stuckked with
windows mobie yet !
Shredder Chess recently released an Android version of the Shredder application. While I don't think it's quite as powerful as Fritz, it does offer you game analysis at a pretty strong level on your Android. It's EU5.99, so about 7 or 8 dollars, which isn't too bad. I've paid for it and it's a very high quality application.
Best iPhone Clone Program For Windows Mobile Phones

I am the one who created the iPhone theme version 6, 3 years back, it was a great success but there were issues with the fact that it did not work with wm6 and also there were newer versions of wisbar released, which made me create this new theme, in this time i sold my old o2 XDA IIi and now have an N97 but i am seriously disappointed with it. So i download the wm6 SDK and created the new theme on it, the new wisbar allowed me to create same transition effects as that on iPhone.
I am soon going to post the theme on my website http://appleiphone.110mb.com/
and my blog
http://aleksander100.blogspot.com/
Stay tunned and hope you all like the theme.
looks like there is no more point developing.
I am just offering some feed back. I am not try to bash or discourage or upset. There is already a very good iPhone clone that is currently actively being developed. I think it would be pretty hard to beat. So I just wanted to give you a heads up. You can check it out here if you want to...

I can think of a couple of reasons.
1. "Sense" as a UI is a total resource hog. When I was using it as my today plug in I would boot at like 70% and be up to 80% after a couple of hours. When I boot up with iPhoneToday as my today plug in I boot at 50%. Makes quite a difference in the speed at which my phone responds.
2. Using sense I push a button to to go to my start menu. Then I push a button to go to my settings. Then I push a button to go to my Comm Manager. Then I push a button to Turn on my Wifi. Using iPhoneToday I push my Wifi button and I am done.
3. How about this one. When I was running the stock Verizon Rom with "Sense" I had 100mb free for storage and 60mb free for memory. When the HSPL came out for my phone (the Imagio) and I was able to get a cooked Rom with Titanium only (no Sense) I now have 210mb of free storage and 90mb of free memory.
So- there are a couple of reason. I could list more. But people that hate the iPhone wouldn't care what I say. It won't matter to them bc they have predetermined that anything that starts with a little "i" is the enemy.
^Depends on what phone you have.
Srsly why not get an iphone? emulating iphone on a winmo device is just ridiculous. :\
I <3 my x1 winmo device, the sense ui is a defnite bonus. ♥

I don't hate it at all. I simply find it really limiting to my needs. Heck, I made my wife take one on subscription, considering her computer is an iMac and that she has not all my needs on a phone (a work companion).
Said that, I still think that if you really want an iPhone, just buy (or subscribe) one. You'd be happier than with a clone.
Honestly I hate that WinMo users try to convert their devices to Iphones...
And that mere statement is a PRO about WinMo: It is soo versatile, that you can simulate any UI you want, from Iphone to Android...that´s something you can´t do in an Iphone...
There´s a lot of beautiful UI´s for WinMo: TF2D, TF3D, RLToday, SPShell, Bell UI, Point UI, Titanium, etc, etc, etc...
Anyway, if you need/want an UI similar to Iphone´s, have you ever try Vito Winterface? I´ve seen an Iphone skin around xda...

few things i dint mention--
the theme supports landscape,
at&t brings out start menu
and the theme doesn't look smooth as hypercam dint record it well.
The wallpaper can be set by the user as per his/her desire.
More icons in development and vga version is also in making.

So why don't have best of all on WinMo? Some people need lifestyle, some need usability. I need usability, all informations on 1 screen (and not 1/3 of screen just for a clock like in Manilla), speed (most used apps in RAM) & stableness.
For MY needs most UI's are too heavy loaded or uses too much resources or can't be configured a easy as IPT (also it's better than the original on iPhone, )!
No one talks about S2U2, which is also a clone and also better than the original!
Never heard an iPhone user saying that Apple "converted" apps from WinMo!!! They just use it and don't discuss!
BTW iPhone is more stable than WinMo because you can't do everything!
I've been using IPT for months now and I love it because it's simple, gives me what I am looking for quickly, easy to use/configure, and fast. I hate - HATE!!!! - the WM6.5 default look. Sense sucks too as far as I'm concerned. I'm not hell bent on having an iphone clone, but I would just like a screen with all the info right there, and not tabs to scroll through. I'd switch to something else if it was better, but I have yet to find it.
Some of you guys may have had a Windows Mobile phone before. And you should then propably know about SPB Mobile Shell, a very fast good looking launcher. And it's coming for Android. So sign up for the beta now.

Cool, but
1. This must be a battery killer.
2. I doubt that it will be available on Wildfire. Or it will lag like hell.

1. I think it won't be a battery killer, cause it will be a home screen application, like the others .... i used it when i had my HTC Kaiser ... and this was very cool, usefull app
2. SPB ran very well on Windows Mobile ... on "oldschool" phones too ... so i think wildfire will be enough
Have smooth when run on Wildfire?
Hope this works on wildfire...

I had SPB on my old HTC Magician, but the 3d stuff lagged sometimes.
2. Maybe But we can`t play Raging Thunder on the Wildfire, but I can play the WM version on a 400Mhz processor with smooth 40fps.
Don`t get me wrong, I want this to work well on all devices.
is there a free working version of this? Thanks.
There is if you look around but honestly its not that good..
Try Regina 3D Launcher. I've seen/heard 50-50 reviews on it being comparible to Mobile Shell 3D and it's free.

Launcher Pro is a good launcher, ADW Ex is popular as well. You just need to browse around and find the best replacement launcher for you.
Define "better keyboard". What makes a keyboard better to you? I like Swype. I've also heard good things about SwiftKey is good as well - but the cost is $2.
I don't think spb is a great launcher anyway. It has nice looking features but they don't work too good. The weather looks nice but is always way off. It uses old forecasts to tell current weather. And it doesn't seem to know Washington dc exists.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
I tried Spd Mobile shell and noticed alot of battery drain guessing from all the widgets it's packed with. It was cool visually but wasn't for me.. i'll stick with my launcher pro but for something free Regina is pretty cool too it has that itunes cover flow feel.
I used a previous version of SPB Mobile Shell on Windows Mobile 6.1, it was a great app for the limited UI in Windows Mobile. It is certainly not a must have for Android, with so many good / great launchers including good old Sense, Launcher Pro, ADW and GO Launcher (among others). I have used all of these and the differences you have to try. A cute UI that I tried recently was Spark .. free but not for me, cool views though.
*SIGH*
Anyone here actually USE SPB Shell 3D? No, there's not a free version and no it's not cheap. But it DOES take 4x4 widgets to a whole new level. It takes a while to boot up when my phone starts up but once its up it's been running fine. With the new BAMF GB lockscreen and SPB Shell my phone is just SICK! I've tried to go back, but I've gotten used to its deliciousness (and it DOES wow everyone I've showed it to) and with each upgrade it gets better.
There's a reason that OVER 9000! people have given it good ratings on the Market....

Yup I think I'd give it a good rating too if I were foolish enough to spend $15.00 on a home replacement that slows the phone down and doesn't really do anything special that can't be had cheaper elsewhere. You know, just to make myself feel better.
(edit)Yes I have tried it before you ask.
There's always a free version of everything, if you're willing to look for two minutes.
That being said, I didn't find it useful enough to buy, especially for 15 dollars. Rather donate it to the BAMF guys. Battery drain, and the novelty wore off quick.
Favorite keyboards:
Swiftkey
FlexT9 (swype, but better)
If you don't want to buy a keyboard, the gingerbread keyboard is pretty darn good.
Thanks for such insight!

So you spent 15 dollars and yet didn't succumb to the "feel better"? Wow, the force is strong within you!
Because I haven't complained about SPB in a review and followed up with another review saying it wasn't ready for prime time (at the time). You're so right. Gosh, you must be like Miss Chleo or something.
No added functionality? I guess it depends on the user. I've found:
1. The carousel isn't like anything out there. The free alternative doesn't have the same functionality/ease of use. I find it especially handy for easy access to widget screens that are 8 screens back. I don't have to cycle through them.
2. Beautiful 4x4 custom widgets. I've not had the problems with the weather widget. It's especially handy when looking for the 5 day outlook quickly. And the calendar widget is fantastic too. It's pretty and functional.
3. Ability to add screens on the fly (up to 16)
SPB Shell lags on boot/first use, but I've had no slowing of my phone in daily use after boot. The problems I experienced before were problems that have been fixed since my second follow up review.
And have I mentioned it's absolutely beautiful?
But you're right and those 9000 fools (and Google, who showed off SPB Shell in their booth last year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona) are just sore. Couldn't be the oohs and ahhhs I got from people looking at my phone. It couldn't be both the increased functionality and aesthetic beauty of the custom widgets. It's all because they're upset they spent so much on it. Thanks on your comment. It's changed my life and I am now in perfect agreement with you.

Free? I think the word you're looking for is stolen/warez. You're "free" to steal it. But there's no "free" version of it in the market.

I've had absolutely zero battery improvement when I've used Launcherpro or stock over SPB. But you can't upgrade apkwarez, can you?
Everything is relative. I like things that are functional and pretty. SPB is both. And just a quick note, donating to the BAMF guys isn't against the rules if you buy SPB...you can do both.
I think SPB is neck and neck with Sense. They're both great looking, fast, and functional. If my phone didn't have sense I would use SPB all the time.
As for keyboards, I was able to get FlexT9 when it was free from Amazon and its awesome.
I bought SPB and I have mixed feelings about it. Yes it's great and it's fast... when it's loaded. I don't use a task killer but it seems that often when I unlock my phone, it needs to reload part of the launcher and that adds a delay that I don't like.
I'm also not impressed at the development. They did add one new 3D widget for birthdays but it never works well for me, it's always missing some people and the people I see change every time I reboot.
It has a lot of potential, I just hope that the devs won't take the money they have now and leave the launcher stagnant.
I have been running SPB Shell 3D for several days, I have no lag, no battery drain (not any worse than running on just Sense, and better than GB rom) I have it fully configured with my own weather app etc. I really find this app to be pretty cool, it works and I have not had crashes or anything else yet with it.

Don't take it so personal, I happen to think that spending 15 on spb is foolish, my opinion should really not have garnered such a response from you, you didn't develop the program right. But you are a hell of a defender I'll give you that.
To clarify, I'm sure this was the best thing since sliced bread on winmo but as was stated above there are many many options for launchers on android. I have spent >$15.00 on the different launchers out there, does that make me a fool, probably because I was happy with the first one I purchased. But you know I don't feel too bad in this case because I think the people who got my money deserve it. Anyways I'm done, sorry if I upset you.
I might be mistaken but i remember reading there was a free alternative to SPB Shell that had many similar features. Can't remember the name, though.
