Have a look here for preorders. I'm assuming that these prices are for new customers and not for existing customers wanting to upgrade.

Now I'm holding my upgrade too Thanks for the news se4me!
Though I wouldn't say that's a perfect mobile but it just come with everything I've been looking for as an upgrade choice of my MDA Pro.
But I'm curious, because my current contract ends on 29th-Sep, what would happen if I take no action by then, just in case if I kept waiting but they didn't release the new model before 29th.
(Plz don't laugh coz I've only been living in UK for one year so far, not sure how these things work)
Any advices appreciated

What deals did you get with T-Mobile UK???

Hi All,
Please could people add a quick post for the deals/upgrades they got through T-mobile (UK).
I have the £16 half-price for life Web'n'Walk 18 month that expired in June.
T-mobile offered £220 for phone and keep existing tariff or £80 for phone and Flex 35- Web'n'Walk for £37.50 for 12months. The T-mobile guy said he would ring back Friday as the new customer deals were not available yet, but he would be able to offer the same - I must say he was really trying to plug Web'N'Walk Plus!! I take the view £220 is cheaper than a SIM free £450?
Cheers Ody
they have to give you a subsidised price over the sim free price really dont they...
im on flext 35 with WnW and a 25% discount and got the vario III for £80 (they originally said £100 but did a "trade up?"
it'll eventually be a free upgrade as all phones are when they've been out for a while.
funnily enough Tmob wanted £240 for the varioII when my upgrade came around (according to the options on My Tmobile) which i thought was rip off-tastic!
I have two business lines with T-Mobile both on the Flext25 plan. I got two phones for free (one per line) on an 18 month contract. Also, both Flext25 plans benefit from a lifetime 25% discount. I don't have W&W though am thinking of it but often use all the Flext25 allowance and often spend a bit more (but not enough for the next Flext upgrade).
Got both of my phones upgraded for free on Flext25+W&W. Business contract though.
I got a free upgrade (getting it delivered tommorow morning). I am on Flex35 web n walk however only pay £15 / month rental as my mate works for T-Mobile. Only thing is I am tied to an 18 month contract which doesnt bother me as I am pleased with the service. I am so happy I never purchased that stooopid iPhone last week.
Before i got my Vario III i had a Vario I on T-Mobile and i was on a Flext 25 + WnW and i never paid above the monthly tarrif cost. I got an upgrade to the Vario III on a Flext 25 + WnW Plus tarrif and the hamdset was free! I was amazed so i said yes please straight away!

Wow that sounds like a really good deal.
I've been waiting for the Vario III for a long time now. I'm currently on Flex 35 with WNW and hardly ever use all my minutes.
They have only offered me the same as the OP, basically £100 upgrade even on 18 month contract.
How did you manage to get your handset free? Becausethere are no other providers at the moment with this phone, im finding it hard to negotiate a better deal.

I'm on the same tariff and was offered the same price 4 times. I'm waiting until it's on the website... I've been told it should come down in price then
Leaving Orange so new customer to T-Mobile with no history, paid £139 for Vario III on a Flext 25 + WnW Plus
Paul
I got a new contract with TMobile as a new customer. I paid £59.95 for the phone on an 18month contract Flext-35 Web n' Walk plus (£42.50/month). I ordered over the phone and managed to get the 'web-exclusive' free weekend calls deal as well.
I was originally with o2 (7years) and they offered me £100 credit and a £15/month 12-month contract (1500 off peak calls and 500 texts). Adding onto that the price of an unlocked tytn2 and o2 data-bolton.
Although tmobile and the cost of staying with o2 were roughly the same price over 18months I got far more for my buck with tmobile.

Yeah, same here - I was told to wait until they can match the web.
I've got to admit it's very annoying how they offer better deals to entice 'new' customers... I won't feel happy until I get a better deal than the £100 (even considering I was willinging to upgrade to WNW+ also.)
It seems even some of the guys on flex £25 can get the phone at £80
quetion is when the **** witht this be -m the ''being able to match the web'' thing?
I turned down WnW+ flext 25 & handset for £80 for this stupid wait!!!!
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I've just been on the phone to T-Mobile and got the following prices:
Flext 25 £209.99 180 minutes 12 Months
Flext 20 £169.99 ??? minutes 18 Months
Flext 25 £149.99 300 minutes 18 Months
All of these were Flext with Web'n'Walk standard, as a new customer.
Could I do better? The Flext 20 looks like the best deal at the moment...
yeah wait till the web deals come out.... thats what t mob are telling us all...
Reading on this forum I seen some people have this cheaper. What have they offered for Flex 30 and WNW+ ? (bearing in mind there is a £5 discount if thats still on, for new customers)
@ Digimortal
I am on a business account so maybe they offered me the handset with no upgrade price because of that? I don't know mut i was phone teh guy a few times asking laods of questions so h eknew i was interested i kept umming and ahhh ing and i was telling him that i wanted it with a black case but t-mobile only do it in silver so i kept asking questions and stuff and he said to me we can do you the handset for free. so i said yes straight away!!!
Personally, I would like to go for the Flext20 ie £20 then add the Web'n'Walk Plus for a further £12.5 = £32.5 then ask for the £5 discount, so paying £27.5 per month (for 12 or 18 months) and get the phone for under £100 - The guy I talked to was Stuart, who said he would ring me back on Friday?? and hopefully be able to tell me what the new customer deals would be that he could match...
the website is now advertising 25% of flext tarrifs. so pissed i baught mine 2 3 days a go. aw well i got my phone.

Looking at it its 'upto 25%' off and only on selected tarifs. The tariff I got is still the same price.

I hate it when that happens. You could always t-mobile CS on 150 and threaten to return the phone under the 14 day money back guarantee unless they honour the reduced price for your contract. They will probably do it to avoid the hassle and paperwork!
At worst if they don't go for it, send it back, cancel the contract and start a new one at the new 25% off price - you know it makes sense!!

Orange upgrades to TYTN II ..what tariff deals are you getting?

Am not sure if this is the right area for this post but here goes:
Orderd my TYTN II today on my old tariff of £20.00 a month which includes 200 text, 10 photo messages + 5mb data, 1000 minutes off peak.. phone was free and all on a 12 month contract. my total cost for the whole year will be £240. when the large data bundles come out i may go for it but for now i tend to use my m3100 throgh the wi-fi at home. i only tend to download my hotmail/gmail messages or msn when on the move ie twice a week if no wifi is avail. what i am worried about is that it would have been nice to have the Anytime tariff.
I might still get a sim only monthly tariff off T-mobile.
Does anyone know what this will be called on Orange. Are they going the same way as they did with the touch?
its called the Orange TYTN II
Deleted... was talking bollocks!
WOOHOO! Finally got to talk to someone in Retentions who has a brain.
Got the TYTN II for free but had to take an 18mth contract.
Same deal as I was on - £35 (I think) for 500 any time, any network mins, 500 texts.
Probably not the best deal, but beggars cannae be choosers!
F.
good one enjoy.....
Racoon 35
Hi Guys, just got my Kaiser / Tytn 2 on Orange ...
Here's the deal - (I think it's good for the rest of October)
Racoon 35 - £35/month on 18 month contract - this gives 700 across any network minutes, plus 100 text (not a big text guy) .. plus unlimited landline numbers starting 01 or 02.
On the £35 contract, the tytn2 was £89.99 but the package provided cashback on an old phone ... I got £150 c/b on an old nail of a Nokia 3110 ... cashback works on airtime credit so I've bought the phone with four months free use.
They are also providing unlimited data access at evenings and weekends for two months.
Negatives .. No sexy iPhone style HTC black theme .. watch out for the data after two months free use .. the small print automatically puts you on a £5 a month data tariff if you don't opt out (the same with the traffic TV service too).
PS, Just installed Tomtom 6 and the internal GPS works better than my old bluetooth did on my XDA mini.
Wish list ... make the display look like the iPhone
Well, after getting Orange to put £100 credit on my account to upgrade to a free TYTN II on a 12 month contract, I thought I'd phone up their customer services and have a small whinge about their appallingly bad data bundles. Currently I pay £4 for a measly 4mb on an old orange world bundle. Their best offer was £8 for a capped 30mb per month. Eventually, having been fobbed off with a stock answer I was put through to a "supervisor" who agreed, when I mentioned Vodafones £7.50 for 120mb deal, that the Orange one was, perhaps, lacking!
I explained that with modern phones such as the TYTN II having the potential for being far more data intensive (google maps, youtube, skype, bbc streaming etc) that it was about time Orange offered a fair price for a decent or even uncapped data limit.
Apparently, this may happen sooner rather than later, as I was told that new tariffs were being rolled out in March ('08) and that after many complaints data tariffs were also being revamped. I do hope that this does indeed transpire. If anyone has any further info please post...
Hmm. Wonder how much these new data bundles will cost?
Can't see them allowing you to move from an £8/month 30Mb bundle to a cheaper with more data one? or maybe they will surprise us...for once.
Spoke to a nice woman at Orange last month, I told here that I am paying £8 for 30mb and said I wanted to change my data bundle to the 250mb one. She checked and said it was only for business customers as I was on an animal plan, I lied and said a friend rang up a while ago and said he was on an animal plan and they put him on the 250mb package ok , she went and checked with her supervisor and she said that I could go on the 250mb package on my current animal plan
So everyone on the 30mb Orange data bundle, I would phone Orange now and request the much bigger package for less money, am so happy now
Orange World for Business 4 £2.50 4MB £0.80
Orange World for Business 10 £5.00 10MB £0.80
Orange World for Business 250 £6.38 250MB £0.80
Orange World for Business 1024 £17.02 1024MB £0.80
Orange World for Business 2048 £21.28 2048MB £0.80

This has made my day, i'm going to ring them tomorrow and say the same thing, hopefully they will bump me up.
They told me on the phone the next level up from £8 - 30mb was £35 - 80mb, I mean what the hell? Isn't bandwidth supposed to get cheaper the more you buy?
They are so far behind the competition with their data charges it's beyond a joke. Unfortunately for me I live rurally and have no choice but to use Orange as it's the only carrier with a decent signal out here.
Mr Radeon123 was not wrong. Just got myself 250mb for £6.38 per month (which is minus the VAT) so £8.00 or thereabouts is the charge per month. Thanks for the info matey!!!
If they don't bump you up just keep phoning, someone will eventually put you on the business data tariff.
I think the business tariffs should be the normal data tariffs as the current ones are redicolous
Here is my 250mb data bundle screenshot as proof
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/Radeon/NewPicture-1.jpg
I'd be shipping off to T-Mobile to be honest.
Shame 3 dont do the handset, there network deals have become good and their data packages are defo better.
Got my better half (not so techie) on a 2mb per day data bundle with Orange and that is FREE for ever. They do charge £0.50 per 50kb if you go over (£10 per mb) so spb gprs monitor is pretty useful.
Having just got the 250mb for £8.00 business bundle put on my personal account, I enquired again about the possibility of updated data bundles coming out in March...
STOP PRESS!! The lady I spoke to said that on 1/3/08 £8.00 will buy UNLIMITED DATA (NOT capped at 30mb or anything else)
Hope this information proves to be correct and is of use to those of you in the UK...
I've also just upgraded to the £8 data bundle, the guy I spoke to said the fair usage policy kicks in if you go over 1Gb on a regular basis, so I think thats as close to unlimited as you can get for mobile use, so long as your not using it as a modem too much.
To top it off as I'm getting my 8Mb broadband connection free with my contract it's a relatively cheap option for data.
Vodafone seems to be the way to go...
My Tytn II is about 2-3 months old, I got in on Vodafone for free on an 18 month contract. Originally I had to pay £40 per month for 750 mins & unlimited texts. I haggled with them and brought them down to £25 for the same! WOO!
Well i was gonna leave orange and got this deal in the end , phone free , £35 18 month contract giving 500mins cross network and unlimited text messages , 100 additional loyalty bonus minutes , £5 monthly discount loyalty bonus and the basic data package
Be careful with the data package.
I was offered the unlimited data access at evenings and weekends for two months.
I had data charges for about £4.00 for each of those two months.
When I queried this I was told I had gone to websites outside the Orange World portal !
I no longer use Orange for data.
r
Andrew
Pretty good deal, I think
I have two phone contracts with orange 35 pound/month each for 500 mins and 500 text. Near the end of contract. Over the last month, I've phoned disconnections 5 times getting a better offer each time. Tonight I went with this:
Phone 1) SE K810i 600mins & unlimited text 15pound/month
Phone 2) TyTn 11 700 mins & 100 text ... wait for it 20 pounds/month.
Both phones free. Also added 250MB data to the TyTn11 for extra 7.50/month.
I'm pretty chuffed. Phones arrive Thursday. Now on to ebay for 8GB microSD card!
Andy

MDA Compact IV – List your best deal

All,
I know there is a thread for the MDA Compact IV, but this one is more specific. Can anyone who has managed to get a deal list it in this thread as:
1. Current price plan
2. Monthly line rental
3. Monthly bill
4. New price plan
5. Place where MDA Compact IV was purchased
6. Total cost for the MDA Compact including any delivery charges
The idea is to help the rest of us decide where we should be buying the phone from.
Thanks...
This is what I did, I hope I've not f***ed up too badly, not TMob though, no service where I live, Orange is good though.

That’s a good deal as long as phones 4 u honour the Quidco payment. They can always not pay out it has happened before with other companies.
I would really like to find out what deals others have got on T-Mobile, be it through a shop / online / telephone. I’m calling them at 8:30 so just a few minutes to go. Wish me luck...
OK just got off the phone and spoke to Mike in team LR4.
I was very frank and he just told me the best deal possible. No messing around total time spent talking was probably 5 minutes.
1. Current price plan - Flext 25 + WnW (12 Month)
2. Monthly line rental - £16.25
3. Monthly bill - £17 - £20
4. New price plan - Flext 25 + WnW (12 Month)
5. Place where MDA Compact IV was purchased – T-Mobile directly over the phone.
6. Total cost for the MDA Compact including any delivery charges - £20 (free delivery) that’s a £210 discount!
Now bearing in mind that my total line rental for the year works out at £195, getting a £210 discount on the handset, there actually paying me £15 over the year.
Oh and for people who are wondering how I got free delivery, well I simply stated that online they are giving free delivery one all new contracts and upgrades so why not via telephone?
Hope it helps...

He was honest when he came back to me as he said they wouldnt have any in till they got rid of the Compact IIIs, and the guy said there were a 100 or so left on the system nationwide. He said they had had a batch of Compact IVs in to see the initial response to it, and they were flying out. Looks like they've all flown. So I'm on the system waiting now. I had to hold the line twice as he checked with his manager for a few things, but I dont know what that was about.
All in all a pleasant surprise - no haggling - he offered me the best price straight off the bat. Scottish man dealing with a Welsh man for you I suppose... Us Celts stick together and help each other out! lol
Hope this helps - be interesting to see if other people manage to get hold of them after me, considering I was told they've all gone.
What confuses me is how so many of you are being offered the phone for FREE (with many on 12 month deals) with such low tariffs such as Flext 25 and Combi 20.
Surely this loses T Mobile money? no?..

I was honestly gob smacked when he said I could have it for free. I hardly use the phone - txt quite a bit - but use the web a lot. As i said I was initally on 18 month contract, but am now 6 months outside this. 12 month contract and free phone for £27.50.
What confuses me is why is this phone cheaper than Vario III (Kaiser/Tytn II)?
I guess there just trying to keep customers as competition is stiff at the moment.
Take me as an example the total cost for me is £215 (£195 line rental and £20 handset) for the year that includes £40 of credit per month to use as minutes or text, and unlimited Web n Walk, and the MDA Compact IV!
Just the RRP of the phone is more than I will pay for the phone and line rental all included so I’m not complaining!
Just finished speaking to T-Mobile.
As of 14:00 on 16/06/08 they have the MDA Compact IV back in stock, so anyone who missed out go get it before it sells out again

All,
I know there is a thread for the MDA Compact IV, but this one is more specific. Can anyone who has managed to get a deal list it in this thread as:
1. Current price plan
2. Monthly line rental
3. Monthly bill
4. New price plan
5. Place where MDA Compact IV was purchased
6. Total cost for the MDA Compact including any delivery charges
The idea is to help the rest of us decide where we should be buying the phone from.
Thanks...

why are contract so much in usa

just been looking at some posts and seen the price some of you guys pay in the usa,how come its so much.
If I recall market coverage I've read correctly, the US contracts reflect higher bundled minutes per month and subsidies for purchasing a phone. Both of these "features" aren't typical in other parts of the world (most notably Europe) where the minutes/month is either lower or non-existant and the carriers don't provide a discount for the phone that you pick up.
Many analysts expect the US model to migrate more towards the European model as time passes due to market pressures.
so for a average price plan what do you get for your money, here in the uk you get a free phone eg the diamond 600mins and say free web for 18months and for 35 uk£
Over here in the UK, phones are certainly subsidised. As for, higher minutes? I'm paying T-Mobile £37/month, for an 18 month contract. For that, I get 1000 voice minutes, 'unlimited' texts, 'unlimited' web, and a free MDA Vario 3 (Kaiser).
Big US companys are incredibly greedy, care nothing about the customer, don't care about improving the customer expirience, and only really care about the money.
that's why!
Edit:
For a US individual AT&T customer, you'll run...
$40 - 450 talk minutes... not even unlimited *5000* night and weekend minutes
$35 - unlimited data/ internet usage
$20 - unlimited texting
so for an individual who wants to text and use his tilt that even with a REBATE he spent 200 dollars on, for internet usage, he pays 95 us dollars per month. this is using the edge network most places in the US *only get HSDPA in metropolitan areas* which is quite slow :-S

Corporate greed knows no borders, we have T-Mobile in the U.S., they are a German corporation, and Verizon Wireless, Vodafone has a big stake in them. I get HSDPA in my area, and it's VERY rural, so you'd be wrong about HSDPA only being available in metro areas, I live in a county (Mendocino, NW CA) that is HUGE at 3800 sq.miles in size, has a population of 88,000 and is very mountainous and rural. The nearest Metropolitan area to me is San Francisco, 115 miles south of where I live.
Edit-To be fair, while many of the bigger carriers, like AT&T and Verizon may not be as customer oriented as they should be, you have to remember the U.S. has many smaller and regional carriers as well, like US Cellular, Golden State Cellular, Inland Cellular (to name a few), and they are often VERY customer oriented, and tend to provide more personal service to their customers.

Try here (Switzerland).
Prices are approximate due to conversion but gives an idea:
For $30/month:
250MB data/month
NO free calls, $0.45/min to other mobile networks (there are 3 so the chance the other person isn't on the same as you is quite high), $0.45/hour (you pay that amount regardless whether the call lasts 1 min or 59 mins) to same network or landline.
NO free texts ($0.15 each).
And as the retail value of a Kaiser is $1100 here, youl'll still pay it $650 with a 1-year contract or $450 with 2 years.
The billing model for all phone providers have now gone to that "per hour" fee on landlines and same network, and same amount per minute for other networks.
The one network that is usually always a bit in advance regarding their offers has gone for plans where your monthly fee becomes a credit and you can use it up, basically removing the base monthly fee IF you use it up entirely. But free minutes/texts are basically non-existant apart for the top ($70/month range) plans.
It is probably worth mentioning that, at the current exchange rate, one US dollar is worth approx. .6844 Euro.
Call that a buck and a half per Euro.
So a 40 EU contract is worth $60.
I pay $73USD per month to AT&T. For that I get:
450 Peak Minutes
5000 Nights and Weekend Minutes
Unlimited Data
1000 Messages (any combination of message types)
Weird Al's Canadian Idiot greeting my callers until I answer.
I don't see how this is such a bad deal. In order to exceed the 5000 minutes of off-peak time, you would need to be on the phone 1 minute for every 4.94 minutes during the off-peak periods. Let us also remember that AT&T has Rollover, so our unused peak minutes hang around for 12 months.

I get a tad of a discount so mines a bit less. I pay 120 USD for the following
National Family plan 700 mins ( I can go anywhere with 0 roaming fees here in the states )
Unlimited data PDA Connect for one line ( believe me I use it more than ATT might like lol )
1500 sms/txt per line
Longer Free nights and weekends
I bought 1 tilt from Ebay and 1 from the retail store. Even though I paid almost 700USD for the 1 from the start ( when it first came out ), I don't regret a second of it. I feel the prices for the plans themselves are quite fair.
wron wrong WRONG!!!
Comjon now! stop complaining about how high our monthly contracts are!! (My wife's idiot brother in law once had a $900 bill come to him--his wife was happy) but that's besides the point. How else are we going to contribute to our gov'ts 1.7 TRILLION bail out? lol

India is pretty cheap when it comes to mobile usage...Vodafone charges me 13$ per month upto 1GB data plan free per month and about 0.02$ per minute outgoing and free incoming with some text msgs free per month dont remember how many now...here you need to buy the phone seperately a decent WM device can cost upto 200$ appx but its a one time buy and you can switch SIM cards (i.e the phones are unlocked so you free to switch service providers) My average bill for a month comes upto 32$ including the rental charges.
Cheers
FCC plays a big part of why contracts are so much. Just look at the last auction they had for the 700mhz spectrum. If you want cheap rates, Sprint had a SERO plan for $30 a month for 500min anytime, $50 for 1250 min, $100 for 2500 min, all plans include Unlimited Text Messaging, Unlimited Data, Free Nights & Weekends Starting at 7pm. SERO is no longer offered but instead Everything Plus. $60 for 500 min $80 for 1000 min both plan include what SERO had.
MetroPCS also has pretty cheap plans.
For me I have 700 min/mo rollover family plan shared with 5 phones. My phone has PDA data plan and 1500 txt/sms. 2nd phone has unlimited medianet and 200 txt/sms. Rest just voice. I pay $137 a month for all 5 lines because I have a FAN account. I got about 1500 minutes of rollover minutes so it doesnt cost anything if I go over my minutes. Besides if I ran out of minutes, theres always Skype on my tilt and on my N75.

Erm, I paid the most I have ever paid for a phone for my Tytn II, 85eur for the phone, 35 Eur (250 outgoing minutes (all incoming calls are free)) a month plan, 10 Eur for unlimited FUP 3G internet. I pay just under 45 Eur a month for a 2 year plan.
I hope people in the US go towards a EU type policy. I cannot believe people still pay for local incoming calls.
Hmmm
How far do you get to call without paying extra? We get all of the USA, which is pretty big. Maybe we pay more to get more, our network is a bit large.
Here in the UK, mobile numbers don't have area codes (which I believe is the case in the US, although I stand prepared to be shot down in flames if I've got that one wrong).
Therefore, we don't pay more to call 'further'. Fixed lines, however can be geographic (with area codes), or non-geographic (freephone and premium rate numbers), so call can vary there. Calls to mobiles and geographic numbers usually are taken off the minutes bundled with the tariff before being charged; non-geographic numbers are generally charged.
As a result, I can call my brother who lives at the other end of the UK from me, and it comes out of my free minutes. If I had used all of those, however, it wouldn't cost me any more than if he were down the street.
Do any of your europeland companies let you keep your anytime minutes if you don't use them? That was my draw to AT&T when I first signed up.
My current plan is $68/month. approx 46.25 euros a month
Tilt came free to me for being a professional
450 anytime minutes, 5000 n&w
Unlimited data
1000 texts/mms/etc
