hi,
i looked around for instructions on how to upgrade the ROM but i couldn't find any.
i have a very old ROM and i want to upgrade it to the latest ROM that includes the A2DP, etc.
how do i go about installing it? is it like installing a regular application? i have a Qtek 9100.

Re: Simple guide - Unlock Vario and update to other ROMs
For anyone else who has had the same problem as we did, follow these simple instructions:
First download lokiwiz v2b. Don't use previous versions or you'll not get through this!!
Hard reset your device (not necessary, but it ensures you'll have no hassle with Activesync).
Done that? Good. Extract the lokiwiz v2b .zip folder and copy enablerapi.cab to your memory card or to 'My Documents' folder on your device. Then execute the 'enablerapi.cab'.
Done? Just switch off the device (power button; put it in standby mode).
If you have Activesync already installed, un-install it and re-install directly afterwards (ensure a brand new partnership).
Then when prompted by Activesync, plug in your USB cable PC-PPC and it should recognise as usual.
Then execute the lokiwiz.bat file (in the folder that was generated earlier when you extracted the lokiwiz02b.zip file) and when you see the MS Dos (black screen) choose the option CID Unlock (SuperCID) and wait for it to COMPLETELY finish. You'll know it's finished when your Wizard is re-booting. Plug out your USB cable at this stage.
Once re-booted and back into WM5, re-connect your cable and if all goes well it should re-connect to Active Sync (wait till it has finished syncing or says connected!).
Finally......double click the executable file, which should be:
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Hopefully it will now install the ROM without hiccups (about 10 minutes).
Sorry to you gurus for the lengthy explanation, but some of us are still relatively inexperienced to this and a thorough (if you can call it that) explanation of the processes will really be appreciated. I certainly have done when some of guys broke it down to me in the past.
I'm hoping this ROM will not dissapoint me as the others have done, as I've been getting quite frustrated and angry about the whole WM5 & HTC thing.

Thanks for the breakdown. I am new to all this, and not too au fait with all the developer terms, and it can be quite intimidating!
I have an O2 branded XDA Mini S and want to use it with Vodafone SIM card. The device is unlocked, so I can make and receive calls - good start!
However, I want to get rid of all the O2 branding and install the vodafone GPRS/SMS/MMS etc. settings. From what I've read on the forums, the O2 stuff slows the unit down, and it will all be irrelevant anyway. Does the extended ROM you refer to above then get the unit into an "unbranded" state?
Basically, I just want the unit without any trace of O2 (boot splach screen, O2 active etc.) and to be able to put the Vodafone settings in manually...

I have the exact same problem. Both Loki and aWizard don't work.
Typically when you want to downgrade your phone to an earlier (or shipped version) you need to first downgrade it to Button's 1.05, then you can "upgrade" to back to the desired 1.x or 2.x ROM.
Is that what you're asking?

1)dovngrade to 1.05 . Is necessary only OS or boot loader and ratio too?

looks to me that you have a "G4" chipset, I can tell because you are reporting the IPL 2.21.0001 and not just IPL 2.21 Maybe someone else can verify this???? If so please please DONT try to flash before you have researched "G4" chipset flashing first

I have just read a post were is explained that if you have G4 chip is not possible to downgrade or upgrade the ROM.
Bootloaders (IPL/SPL) with .0001 at the end of the version are G4 flash chips.
This info will be very halpefully for everybody need to perform any flashing action on wizard phone.
Do you confirm that is actually not possible to solve this issue?

I was been able to remove the SIM lock.
If I try to CID unlock the device I receive CID unlocked successfull but after a ROM update the device stuck at startup.

I tried CID unlocking but noticed that didn't work with AKU 2,
Is it possible my phone isn't cid-locked? Is there a quick way to check?
How can I downgrade to an older rom version and what file should I use,
I tried this one: "RUU_Prodigy_1030710_110_10410_Qtek_NLD_Ship.exe"
but after restarting my wizard and loading the bootloader the update program gave an error claiming that it can only UPgrade to newer versions...
I suppose I cant use the wwe version or can I?

As written before, u need AKU 1 to CID unlock your phone..the only way to be sure is to unlock again. Use buttons rom.. downgrade to that... unlock the phone.. install the rom again so the IPL and SPL are the same..then you can switch to whatever rom you want. How ever, you havent shown what type of Wizard you have whether its a G3 or a G4..the above method is what i used for my G3 Wizard

1. Thank-you for posting in a new thread and not in a ROM release thread.
2. Do you have a G3 or G4 (what is your IPL/SPL?)
2a. If you have a G3 read the Sticky post The Definitive Guide to Unlocking & Rom Upgrading G3 Wizards.
2b. If you have a G4 log onto the IMEI pay site (links all over the place) and pay to get your phone unlocked.
3. IF you have a G3 rom you must downgrade to CID unlock. It isn't possible to CID unlock from AKU2 or higher (read the sticky, it tells you what you need to do)
4. The best thing to do if you are unsure is to just repeat the unlock procedure. It won't hurt a thing if you are already unlocked, but will unlock you if you are locked.
5. Don't do anything flash related until you know for sure, beyond a doubt which version of Wizard you have (G3 or G4) If you have a G4 and use G3 procedures you WILL most likely ruin your device.
6. You won't get this error if you follow the steps in the correct order from the upgrade guide.
7. Good Luck

With your G3 just follow the steps, in order, from the sticky and you should be able to end with whatever ROM you choose. Some of the steps may not make sense but, they are necessary and prevent common issues if followed correctly.
Well, I do have a G3 so I can follow the tutorial,
ipl and spl are 2.18,
only question left, CAN I downgrade to the wwe rom in the tutorial? that's what I wanna know, because I now have a nld rom, can I flash to the wwe rom in the tutorial without CID-unlocking?

Ok, so I have been reading through the forum and the wikis. I think I am more or less now ready to unlock and flash my phone with the latest rom. Just a few questions before just to make sure I got it all right before I do anything and completely kill the phone. The PDA I have is from an Orange UK contract.
WM 6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Operator Version 24.181.1.612
Rom Version 1.81.61.2 WWE
Radio Version: 1.27.14.32
Protocol Version: 22.45.88.07H
So step 1) Install HardSPL (kaiser-HardSPLv1.zip, is the latest version right?)
Step 2) Run Kaiser SIM/CID Unlocker & Changer (latest version is 2)
Step 3) Install the new Rom (3.03.405.0 (Radio 1.64.06.04) updated original WWE)
Step 4) Do a Hardreset
So if I follow this process, with the help of the wikis it will unlock my phone and allow me to install the latest rom? Could you also tell me if I am running a correct version of Windows because I read somewhere I have to downgrade to version 6.0. Secondly, is the rom I have chosen above the correct one for my PDA? Thank you, all help appreciated. Sorry for being such n00b.

basically just follow post 3...once u do it once right u will do it more often and get used to it...the first time i had to read over the steps a few times just to familiarize myself with it..now its just download the rom and flash away...
in case u do flash more...u dont need to hardspl each time...once is good for life

k thanks, the way I have understood is that HARDSPL will do a CID unlock (not a sim, if I am not mistaken) and I will just have to use the SIM unlocker to sim free the device. Then off to flashing the rom with the version I described above.
its a bit more complicated with an orange phone mate. You have to SIM unlock it first to flash with a different radio and if you flash to WM6.1 you need a compatible radio...
sim unlocking is not that complicated and I managed it with the details on this forum, there is a bit thread about it somewhere...
Got my orange kaiser in the afternoon, by early evening I had unlocked, flashed, new radio and was happy.
The actual process of flashing a new ROM is pretty simple when you have done it once.
right, having a read through this "Guide on how to unlock an Orange TYTN II by UKBATMAN" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357592&highlight=orange) It says "use OliPro's SIM/CID Unlocker or Jockyw2001's SIM Unlocker". I have already downloaded OliPro's latest version so I am assuming I can just run this application and it will sim/cid unlock my phone?

Ages ago I upgraded my G4 wizard to WM6.1. Now it turns out I need to put it back to WM5 - but can't find a RUU to use.
The original ROM was from O2, but that is not vital. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable RUU from? I found one that would, I think, only work with a G3 device, but have not found one yet I can use...

I thought I had found one, but the RUU complains that it is the wrong version (Error 300) and I get nowhere. I still have WM6.1 working fine... how infuriating :0p
Well,as you say its a G4 and upgraded to wm6.1,ok
First,how did you upgrade to wm6.1,which method did you apply to upgrade,was it SoftSPL or HardSPL ?
If you applied SoftSPL,then,just simply download official stock rom and flash it,it'll work,but if you applied HardSPL and the IPL/SPL are changed,then first you'll have to Remove HardSPL,revert back to Original Official IPL/SPL of the carrier and then you'll be able to reflash wm5,ok
Let me warn you here,if the phone is HardSPL and you flash any Official stock rom without removing HardSPL first,will 'Brick' your phone.

Actually i had the problem with G4 on how to upgrade to WM6, I tried but no luck, haven't tried either SoftSPL or HardSPL yet but when I flashed my WM5 original ROM, I didn't have any backup at all so I kept searching answers here for days, & finally I tried the Wizard Love ROM which one of the Senior Member here said it will work. It works for me & now I'm using WM5 Wizard Love Rom with CID LOCKED.
Hope I can help u with that..

If anybody can teach me how to upgrade my Wizard G4 (T-Mobile/MDA - black) to WM6 (any rom) or the download links for SoftSPL ONLY! they said it's safe..
