Hi.
I can't get the VoIP to work with my Kaiser.
No problem getting it to work with my Hermes.
I have downloaded and installed the file:
"VOIP Drivers"
"MajikVoIP"
and I'm using Schaps VoIP Config tool.
I can get the device to connect to the SIP server, and it will show in the home screen as "selected"
however, whenever I try to make a call, I get the error : "Network Service not available. Try again later" or some other messages about how the connection can't go through
The SIP account is set up to only accept g711 (either ulaw or alaw).
Has anyone experienced that problem as well ?
What did you do to activate VoIP on your Kaiser?
Thank you
Jean-Yves
Bump!
Decided to install VoIP to. But whatever I do I get the same error/message. I tried a WIFI and G3/GRPS connections, I tried VoIP Buster and our Company (Swyx) IPPBX and the alle result in the Network service not available message.
I tried the same accounts on my Wizard and the work flawlessly.
Anybody can shed any light on this matter? As far as all the other other threads go VoIP should work without any problems.
TIA, cheers,
Cacti
Same problem here
I tried many different solutions from different threads. I even managed to get the call another phone using VOIP (VOIPbuster network), but the other phone could not hear me and I could not hear the other....
I used different cab files like MajikVOIP and WM6VoIP, but no configuration works. I even tried different IPDialplans, but no avail...
Hopefully someone could shed light on this issue.
Oh, my ROM is the original UK rom...
actually, different problems.
@jyavenard/le_cactus: does it work over WiFi? If there is a block or proxy then WiFi should work. TMO is known to actively block VoIP on their European network.
@epoot: your issue is something altogether different and not easily answered since in-call audio loss isn't fully understood yet. I suspect its bandwidth/codec related and have done testing which supports this theory, but I have yet to produce a working low-bandwidth codec due to logic troubleshooting difficulties.
Hi Sleuth,
Thanks for your response, strangely enough I looked at my profile and it seems that I am from the US. Well maybe I created this account when I was travelling, but I am living in the Netherlands using the operator Orange with a non-branded HTC Kaiser (bought it without subscription).
I am testing VOIP over Wifi and have tried the different configurations found in the different threads of this forum. Never got it to work though...
So the proxy issue you mention does not affect me, I think? It might be another problem...
In one configuration with certain cabs from one of the forums, I kept getting the searching... status and VOIP did not work. In the other got the message: Network service not available...
In antoher configuration I finally managed to call someone, but no audio from both ends...
I was hoping to find a walkthrough of a successfull VOIP installation on an orginal UK rom...
Cheers,
Edwin
wierd, I could've sworn the OP's info was US/albania not yours epoot... Sorry for the confusion, I've edited my previous post for clarification.
I've installed the TNT VoIP cab available in the cabs thread. After I removed my AT&T hidden proxy along with the two port restriction entries in hklm\comm\rtc\adaptertypes I was able to connect just fine over 3G with both-way audio. My only issue is that sound plays out the back speaker instead of my Tilt's earpiece speaker.
VOIP internal speaker
I've finally gotten VOIP to work using the MajikVOIP.cab and VOIPdrivers.cab. Now all the sounds is coming out of the external speakers. Anyway to re-route this to the internal speakers? Great forum!

Hi sleuth. I am using Tmobile from the Netherlands with an unlimited 3G plan. i was wondering if u can tell me where i can find the Tmobile's hidden proxy ( if there is 1) and how to modify/edit the hklm\comm\rtc\adaptertypes in order to use my Tmobile 3G network for VOIP. What i see is that the string value is set to default. Atm i am using ur VOIP cab with VOIPCHEAP, which works fine over WIFI..but getting disconnected if i want to use it over Tmobile's 3G.
thank you in advance.
Tommy
try using www.fring.com, it's very easy to setup and works ok.
I've tested fring too.
Did the sound in your case come out of the loudspeaker or on the earphone?
the sound is coming from earphone.

are u sure? my old fring version gives sound from the speakerphones and yesterday i downloaded the newest fring version for my tytnII, which gave the same result..sound from the rear speakers. could u try to set ur volume on max and then listen again..cuz when u set at low volume it could also sound like it comes from the earphone. I've used skype, fring and sleuth kaiserVOIP.cab ..all with the same result.
AGEphone Mobile 2.5 Speakerphone Edition supports the internal speaker on the Kaiser and a range of other HTC devices (with more to come)!

okay -- my gprs connection disappears after a day or so and i have to make another connection -- if i give it the previous name then i am told that the connection already exists. any way around
second problem is that i am using bluetooth headset and i can hear songs on it but no calls -- i can hear only a loud hiss. is it a known issue and is there a way aoound it??
The Bluetooth is a known, and very "annoying"problem to say the least. The trouble is that it is not clear where it comes from. It seems to affect also ppl who have upgraded their firmware...
And in the best end-user support tradition, neither the manufacturer (HTC) nor the distributor (O2 et al) even bother to acknowledge it or say if they intend to fix it.
Are you sure the GPRS actually dissapears? There is a known problem where it will not re-connect,if you put it into flight mode and then back out of flight mode you may find the GPRS wil re-connect. As for the BT issue, have you recently upgraded the rom? The 169 version from O2 had known BT headset issues.
I will answer both the questions -- firstly regarding the upgradation of the radio version -- i have not upgraded the firmware as far the bluetooth is concerned but i did upgrade the radio version. but the fact remains that i can hear the songs being played on the media player. what i am looking for is some tweak or a setting i am missing. i have already tried to uninstall and install the drivers again but i have had no joy.
regarding the gprs a soft reset is helping but yes -- it does disappear. and the fact is though i cannot find the first connection i made, i a told that i cannot make the next connection with the old name. can i know what speeds i would be getting over the gprs connection anyway??
thanks a ton
I recently had the chance to play with the Nokia E61i and the built in VOIP client is brilliant. It allows you to use internal speaker, speaker phone and bluetooth with VOIP calls.
I had a Pocket PC before HTC Titan, but unfortunately had to sell it because I am traveling a lot now. I will primarly use my device in South America where the WCDMA band is different. I am thinking about getting the Nokia E90 or the HTC Kaiser, but must make sure the Kaiser will have built in VOIP client. Can someone confirm? Thanks
Even knowing there are many VOIP applications for Windows Mobile, I tried many with the HTC Titan and only ONE worked ok, but the problem was it only worked trough the speaker phone which was very annoying and not convenient.
I understand voip should be included in WM6.
IE : the integrated phone application can do voip.
Tried it with WM6 and voipbuster on my HTC Wizard and it's working although the sound is not so good sometimes because of the Wizard weak processor (I think).

I have already asked that question some time ago - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322377 - and it turned out there is no VoIP support in Kaiser by default. I haven't seen any traces of VoIP in Kaiser I've played with two days ago. And finally, take a look into official Kaiser product sheets - they don't mention VoIP at all, while it's a good feature to shout about.
So basically, there is no VoIP support in Kaiser. However, installing it as an add-on from cab files might have a chance to work, but someone with real Kaiser with hands would need to test it and let us know.
That is really sad. I guess I am going to have to go with the Nokia E90 until a Windows Mobile device has a built in VOIP client.

VOIP is easily installed by YOU.
There's no reason to not get a kaiser because it doesn't have this if you are a member of these forums.

Well, this is great news! I hope I could confirm it as soon as my Kaiser come - I couldn't resist and pre-ordered one in Handtec.co.uk. ))

I have Kaiser now, I've installed VOIP Drivers.cab and MajikVOIP.cab. Installs all components correctly, logs into SIP account, makes a call, but... sound comes out of external speaker, instead of internal earpiece!
Did you manage to make it work properly and if yes - which cabs exactly did you install? Thanks.
im keen to find out also! I thought that you could only access voip using cooked roms.
There are a number of WM5 VoIP endpoints available.... however I'm not entirely sure about WM6 yet. I work in VoIP, and its on my list of things the check now that i have my shiny new TyTN II sat infront of me!
I'll keep you all updated with my findings.
Mind you.. i must check tmobiles policy on VoIP, I had a sneaky feeling they are blocking necessary ports...
managing your voip client?
for those with Voip enabled and working, can you tell me how the voip client determines which connection to use, ie wifi or using the data plan?
I have installed Fring and it works well. Is this different than the other voip programs discussed above?
from what i understand, Fring is a stand alone app, where as the voip i am looking at is fully integrated into the phone and uses the standard dialer, hence my previous question about how the Voip determines which connection to use? And if that is automatic? ie. if wifi is available will it just connect via wifi and if wifi isnt available will it then revert automatically to using the data plan to make the voip call.
Not that this helps with the Kaiser, but according to HP, the new iPaq BM series should have the VoIP client enabled by default; in fact, as far as I'm aware, it's the only device announced with it enabled.
Hi,
I'm new to the PDA and WM phone world, and i have a quick question. If there was a voip program of sorts for a phone like this, would that mean you could just pay for a data plan and not have to pay for a voice plan from a company like AT&T? And then u could still text message, e-mail, internet and the sorts, but also be able to make calls through your program?
Hi
Most providers (certainly here in the UK) flag data used for Messenging and/or VoIP so they are charge at a higher rate or excluded from your inclusive allowance so you pay extra or not blocked completely.
VoIP on a mobile device is only really of benefit when you are in range of a wireless connection.
Regards
Phil
Hey, thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if AT&T restrict data like he said? That's gonna be the main service i will be using, and want to know if they do or not.
Hi,
I think it can be a solution for everyone who wants to use M$ VoIP and GPS in his Diamond (till today if you use VoIP, GPS goes dead).
IMHO problem was one file called dnsapi.dll in VoIP cab which overwrite original one in ROM. It caused that GPS goes dead.
I've removed this file from my OEM package and cooked a ROM with VoIP. I tested this and VoIP and GPS is working without any problems.
I using only OEM packages - if someone can make a cab file from attached OEM package and test it, maybe we will have a solution for everyone !
[2008-08-08] UPDATE - CABs can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2497988&postcount=8
Sound great!!
This is what i´ve been waiting for... fring does the trick... but BAD.
Sweet.
Good idea, a shame I don't know how to make a .cab.
None of the VoIP programs I tested work on the diamond (even Fring doesn't work properly...)

I'm not talking about Skype and Fring - issue was with VoIP drivers from M$. With that you can dial via e.g. Halonet from normal dialpad.
Anyone tried to make proper CAB? For chefs attached OEM package is ready to cook.
Hi,
I tried to make a proper cab, but apparently I failed
I damaged my original dnsapi.dll, now I have one with filedate
31.01.07; could someone upload the original one from a 1.37 rom?
Thanks,

Aaaah, thanks Saves me from Hardreset because the VOIP drivers wouldn't uninstall anymore... Have something in return: Here you have two CABs which do not install a dnsapi.dll, and tested them on my diamond. Works perfectly. You even dont have to reset the phone...
If feedback is positive, maybe the OP could change topic into "[solved]..."?
One tiny thing left to do: Change the ipdialplan.xml to make VOIP dial those "+1 (999) 1212 - 1212" numbers as well ^^
Thanks and enjoy,

I've tested in HTC GPS Tool and Automapa (Polish navigation).
Anyone tried CAB prepared by mcseven?
I used tomtom 7, outdoor gps and mobile terminal emulator to see nmea records on COM4 directly. all 3 programs were running simultaneously and were receiving GPS.
I also tried to connect the VOIP to my asterisk, works as well, but cannot call any +1* numbers or numbers with brackets, since I dont know how to change the ipdialplan.xml in /windows...
I didn't know wich one of the .cab I should install so I installed both; I started with the drivers, it did nothing then I installed WM6Voip, it seemed to work. So I installed SIPconfigTool to configure my connection and I tested TomTom, the GPS was detected (whereas it wasn't with the original WM6Voip). Nevertheless, I tried to use my VoIP account over 3G but it couldn't connect (whereas Fring can connect).
works fine using tomtom 7 and GoSIP...
Yes, possibly the built-in VOIP cannot use STUN functionality, and fring can. I believe that to be a firewall issue.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. I establish a connection, but 5 seconds into a call the diamond ceases to transmit voice. Receiving voice from the remote party however continues flawlessly. No Headset connected and not put into a docking station. Has anyone a similar problem or even a solution to that?

Well, yes. Use a program called SIP config (anyone you like, I use this one) to program your provider settings into the phone. Then make sure to visit Settings->Phone->"Internet" Tab and change it from "Never" to a setting of your liking. After that (and pressing ok in the top right corner) it should register with your VOIP provider as soon as there is a data connection available. If your phone places a call via VOIP, it will ring a short audible "beep" prior to connecting. I found no way to tell it explicitly "use cellular network" or "use VOIP network" for placing a call. Perhaps this will be added in a later ROM.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. (...)

I believe that to be a firewall issue as well. Yesterday I went home from work and put the phone directly into my home Wifi net with direct connection to my asterisk server. Everything works fine.
Today I used another access point at work, and it worked fine as well, so if you are having trouble getting voice to the remote party it most likely is your firewall's fault.
btw I have not found a way to use the internal=headset speaker, it will always use the loudspeaker for received audio.
wow, big THANKS.
works fine for me. Could connect to my Axon PBX with SIP and GPS also runs fine (Tested with tomtom7 and WMMiniGPS).
I realy waited for that and had also two hard resets behind me previous during tests
It almost works for me. I can connect, but my voice doesn't arrive to the other side of the line at all. Neither does the voice of the other side arrive to me. The line is open, but seems 'dead'.... what am I doing wrong?
ipdialplan.xml for sipgate in Germany
Fantastic, with the new cabs now GPS and WM6VoIP works. Attached a dialplan which I modified last year for my Kaiser. It works with my sip provider in Germany (sipgate) and you can dial local plan, leading 00 or + or 0. It may work also for others.
voip speaker
Great job!
Is there already any solution for the intern/extern speaker problem?
Hi,
after searching xda-developers and googling I finally mannaged to get Voip working with the wm6 builtin voipclient.
I can make calls over wifi without a problem, sound through the phonespeaker and I managed to get my voipclient connected over 3G...
But Noone can hear me when I make a call over 3G and I can't hear them either...
Anyone got this to work?
I tried duttys roms an the hyperdragon roms (which I find great) I alo tried different radio roms without succes.
Thanks in advance,
Bartus
could you please tell me which voipclient you are using so I can try it .

hmm 227 views and no one can tell me if it is possible to get ths to work on the kaiser?
destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config_1.1.CAB works for me in the US with ATT. I also have skype beta for WM 6.1 working as well. You can find it in AllTheWay or Ptater's 4shared cab collection... (in their sig & the Read here 1st post)
I used Skype on 3G with Dutty's roms. I haven't been able to use it with NATF's V2 rom. I just upgraded to the V5 rom and I'm going to try that.
surely the problem lies with the network protection controls in place to stop you making voip calls on your data plan?
thats the case here in the UK
I would say that is probably a correct answer, failing that, it could be some problem with sip through nat, or some other such issue that can often arrise using the sip protocol. There are often sip problems through nat networks, hence the need for STUN.
Hello.
I want to buy HTC Touch Pro, but it is importand that VOIP (SIP) is working on this device.
Can somone tell me if it works or not???
Thank you,
That is a very good question Goose;
The firm where I work is migrating to VOIP, and I'd like to use the HTC as main line phone.
Let's hope someone tested the VOIP on the Raphael...

don't know if it's working, but it should I cannot test it for you..
Thanks Lepermessiah,
I'll test it as soon as I receive my device back from repair (1 week hopefully) and keep you posted on how this SIP VOIP client runs...
Perhaps take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401608
I havent tested it out yet as I also have a raphael on its way back to the retailer at the mo.
Lol, you too Mrvanx?
Seem that the Raphael is like Vista: they released it too early without fully testing it and resolving all the bugs...
It is pointless to buy such advenced smartphone without voip support.
I mean, it is whole point with wifi on it.
Ow yes, we can browse web, but I can't really find it fun to use Opera Mobile on a small screen.

Like i mentioned try the thread above and see how you get on, on my other device (HTC Hermes) it works a charm, VoIP was part of Windows mobile however it never seemed to make it to any of the official builds, mostly because obviously it takes business/revenue away from a mobile network provider correct?
Why present the customer with a subsidised handset which can bypass thier mobile network to make calls for free/cheap??
I tried to connect my touch pro to my asterisk server using the "built in" client. It kind of worked, I could initiate/answer calls over wifi, but about 2 seconds after the call connected the phone went in to sleep mode and cut off the wifi connection, tried messing around with the settings in advanced config but nothing helped. Also with the VIOP cab installed it is impossible to use the GPS.
I wouldn't recommend it.

Yes i noticed the GPS conflicted with the driver, pretty sure there is a solution in the thread.
Take a look in advanced config (3.2) i THINK there is a setting in there to stop the device sleeping as a call is made, i WOULD look but my raph doesnt get back to me until either tomorrow or the day after.

SIP is a protocal which many VoIP providers use, see explanation here.
Skype is a brand name, they use thier own protocol to communicate hence thier own software. the "built in" VoIP drivers use SIP so you can use any provider you like which supports SIP.
thanx mrvanx
After all, is this possible or not??
I can voip with SJphone and Fring, but they have the problem of the external speaker, but I cannot voip using the multiple tutorials here on xda to make voip calls with the phone (without 3rd party programs...)

Warez is a reference to illegal software - we don't want to attract that kind of attention as it will only end up causing too much hassle for the whole forum . See the rules for posting (no. 11) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=221545
yes that is true, but i didnt refer to illegal software, skype mobile is free to use. i refered to ppc only because there are a lot of advices if something is wrong with installation or something else. nothing more.
sorry anyways
Guys.
Is there any 3part SIP software, just software so we canuse any VOIP provider with SIP suport?
To be cleared: I do not have this phone, I want to know if VOIP over SIP will work before buying it, if not, I have to wait for fix or other phone...
