Hope every one is well,
guys I am aiming this thread at UK T-mobile Vario III users, so please dont be offended and please dont hijack this thread
Now that out of the way, the thread concerns Blackberry connect from T-mobile and has anyone had any luck getting it working with the MDA vario III using a T-Mobile UK based sim card for corporate email,(not personal email, but email solution(work email))
I know some of us have got BBC to work with the kaiser, using software etc supplied by other companies/ parties (including myself)
But has any UK T-mobile mda vario III user got bb connect working downloading the official version of the software from http://updateservice.t-mobile.net/blackberry/download/folder.do
Thing is they do not have the MDA vario III listed on there devices section.
I have got BB connect working using BBC software supplied by HTC
Heres the link and follow the instructions take around 15-30 minutes for corporate email.
http://www.america.htc.com/connect/8925/
Issues that I have and reading through the forums seems to be affecting a lot of fellow users, is that using BB connect on the device really slows the device down and makes it sluggish! Ontop of that, Once I had done a corporate activation using BBC I could only receive emails from that point on, and any old emails that I had would not be visible in my inbox. To a point I thought it was not working at all, until I got an email and realised that yes, I can get emails via BES but not old emails prior to the setup.
Come to think of it that’s my BIGGEST gripe with this, the device sluggishness and email issue.
As for installing T-mobiles BBC software from there site, I downloaded MDA Vario II’s and installed this, Got it installed both on the device and the desktop, the device software registered and I had a PIN assigned, done the device config update via the desktop, but that’s as far as I got, It kept trying to connect > connecting> connected> data tunnel available > not connected<<
So it kept looping around.
The only thing I could think about is that BBC software I download from HTC/RIM allowed me to do a corporate activation (as am BES admin- I could set my own password etc) but the BBC software supplied from T-Mobile does not allow this,
Vario III users
Have any of you got your devices working with the t-mobile UK bbc and corporate account?
Guys please don’t hijack this thread and go off topic, I am really only after pointers on getting this working with a T-Mobile UK sum card with MDA Vario III using BES.
AS for anyone else after advice of getting BB connect working on there devices, there are so many threads and if none of them offer you what you are looking for start a thread of your own, and people like my self and others will try our upmost to support you. End of the day this a forum and posting threads is part of what the XDA-developers experience is all about.

Apologies to all in advance, who rightly groan when I ask this, but does anyone know if and when an official UK MDA III Rom update will be released by T-Mobile UK?
I am new to the network and have no idea how the support works. I have read through the forums and seen issues with upgrading the MDA III from another ROM (such as QTEK country ID issue for example). For an absolute novice like me (no technical background whatsoever) can anyone assist me.
The issues I have appear to be common ones and they are:
1 The microphone doesn't appear to carry voice effectively (although the speakerphone seems better for some odd reason) and
2 The bluetooth connection is temperamental and battery draining; to say the least.
All help appreciated. Please forgive my naivety as this is my first ever post - so be gentle.
Sorry, I don´t understand you at all, could you tell me if you have got a new T-mobile ROM for the MDA III that has an unlocked-SIM? If so, where could I get it? Thanks.
My post was regarding upgrading my existing ROM.
My MDA is unlocked as I requested a code from T-Mobile who provided it within 1 day.
Sorry I cannot help, as like you I am trying to find out where and how to upgrade.

Okay this is how I have blackberry connect working on T-Mobile USA tmobile MDA
1* downgraded to tmobile de 1.06 rom
2* installed BBerry connect software from TMo De
3* logged into my tmobile changed my phone to a bberry 7100 and clicked change hanheld, the pin was autopopulated for my new device.
4* sent service books.
Here is the thing, the 1.06 rom blows hard chunks and is unusable compared to the 2.26 rom.
my question is , has anyone been able to use any other rom besides the tmo de rom from back in the day?
how about the cheetahs BBery connect software?
I know there is another thread on this but it is Uber long and is filled with more questions than answers, so if you know please post here and dont ask too many questions.
My setup worked with BIS I dont use BES.
I've been using Qtek 2.17 with 2.47 radio. Working without a problem so far. My service provider is Tmobile as well.
It won't allow me to send an attachment over 60k though, and I can't download most of the attachment, some kind of error. What's your experience with the rom that u've been using as far as attachments are concerned?
I don't use it anymore cause I had the same problem as you, I was wondering if there was any clear progress in this project
I hate to post topics that might have been covered...but i've searched and searched until i got a headache and figured I'd just ask....
From what I understand, from a t-mobile representative I know, there is a download able patch for the wing that will allow you to use hotspot @ home (that is use your mobile phone and mobile phone number to place calls through ANY active wifi network you can connect to) and also one for the sidekick..which is irrelevant considering the platform...
Anyways, I have a wing and went to t-mobiles site and see nothing about downloading this fabled update but haven't found anything.
Long story short: does this exist, and if it does, has anyone tried messing with it (i.e. cooking something up) so it works for the MDA?
I love my MDA and the wing is really..well...the same thing, with a few new lame features.
I, too, have a T-Mobile MDA and REALLY want to use this service. I can't understand why I wouldn't be able to utilize the MDA's built in WiFi features with the service. Anyone done found any helpful hints since this thread was originally posted?
I understand this thread is old, but wanted to chip in and voice my curiosity for this as well.
I have the MDA and have been very happy with T-Mobile. But after moving to a new place recently, I have NO coverage inside my home.
The MDA is a very capable phone and I'm sure that [email protected] is usable on it with just a software installation. Although, does anybody have a clue as to how to make that happen?

The only WM phone that I'm aware of that can possibly be used with [email protected] is the Hp IPAQ 510 that has not been provosioned for AT&T.
There are two SKU's for this phone-one for AT&T, and one that is unlocked.
Hi there
I'm due for an upgrade (got a HTC Wizard @ mo) and wanting to avoid carrying mobile & blackberry - have read that I can put BB Connect on Kaiser and this seems a good option.
My question is - work use Vodafone for BES - but do I need to be on the same network or can I stay with Orange and get BES activated on my account? I use my personal phone (had same number for years!) and just bill the company back - so would prefer to stay with Orange (for call plan) if possible.
Have asked Orange (UK) and they couldn't give me an answer that made sense, so thought I'd ask here!
Thanks for any help
Dan

Your Kaiser can work as a blackberry if you install BlackBerry Connect 4 on your device. Regarding the SIM card, it has to be the one given by your Blackberry service provider. I mean if you use Orange for the phone, and if Orange is not you blackberry provider (it shouldn't be) then you will have to put the blackberry SIM card in your Kaiser and use another phone for your Orange SIM card (I know blackberry can also provide the phone functionality if you ask it and of course pay for it...).
I know you can put two SIM cards in your Kaiser using a specific tool (the brand name is SIMORE) but I don't know if it works with the Blackberry SIM cards (all I know is that is does not work with 3G ...).
thanks for the reply - what do you mean when you say that Orange shouldn't be my blackberry supplier?
surely i can get phone & blackberry on the same sim card, rather than use 2 sims?
not sure if i have an answer to the question yet either. to receive work e-mail do i need to be on the same network (i.e. vodafone) or can i be on a different one (e.g. orange)?
thanks

BB Connect comes on the application disk and is running on my Stellar right now. Obviously you have to tell O2 you want a Blackberry tariff before it will work.
I've had it running since I got my phone on Friday and my only complaints so far are that it didn't pull down all my old emails off the server like my 'real' Blackberry did/does and it appears you have to go through the Blackberry Internet Explorer shortcut to browse the web.
Blackberry tariff is £10 a month for (allegedly) unlimited email and browsing, though I suspect there is a FUP of 200meg, like on the data bolt on.
Hi, I recently activated web n walk for the UK the 5 pound package.
I was having problems connecting to gmail or any other service requiring https and synching with gmail exchange.
At first I thought something was wrong with T-mobile blocking ports as I could plug in a Vodafone sim card and everything worked fine. Putting t-mobile sim in another phone would exhibit the same problems of not being able to connect to gmail etc.
After speaking with t-mobile tech support I downloaded the official rom RUU_Kaiser_TMO_UK_3.31.110.3_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.70.18.02_Ship from the t-mobile website and everything worked 100%.
The problem seems to be the ROMS I was using including Shifu, TPC Elite Google Android etc. T-mobile are obviously checking something with my rom configuration or something but I am at a loss as to what it is. I would like to use the latest ROMs as the t-mobile one is crap.
Please can anyone shed some light on what I can try. Thanks
David

Hi David, I use t-mobile UK and i use many roms from this site with the vario 3 with no problems. T-mobile sim cards come with a content lock as standard. You may find you can't even use u-tube application. You should be able to remove this content lock via my t-mobile on their website. Customer services is useless there. That is why you are experiencing that problem even when you put the sim in another phone.
Hope this helps.
cheers
James
Hi James,
I have disabled content lock, and have checked as I can get to *cough* p0rn sites. The other point is that my internet works fully when I use the T-Mobile rom.
Could this be a radio issue?
David
Hi David on my vario 3 I use radio 1.70.19.09 with hard spl 3.34 and pdacorner ultimate-x.v8 and mine is fine.
The only issue I have with internet with the custom roms is that when connection setup has run. It puts in proxy server settings that cause issues. If you go to start, settings, connections and into t-mobile internet is there a proxy server ip address ticked. if so remove the tick and see if that helps.
cheers
James
