How to insert 'pause' when dialling. - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Did a search and found some info. on the Wings forum, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I want to dial a number with a three second pause half way through (for using calling cards). I've tried inserting 'p' and ',' but when it reaches the symbol the call ends.... any suggestions? Thanks!

p works for me, but use a couple of them, i use two for my v-mail so i don't have to enter the password

Putting P (pause) and W (wait) into numbers, ala on Nokias?

Is there any way to do this? I have a mate who lives in Cyprus, and I'm using that JustDial service to use my free O2 minutes to ring his mobile (instead of rack up tens of quids worth of extra charges every month)... On my old Nokia, I used to be able to tap the asterisk key three times to get a p, and four times to get a w ... So say, if you were dialing the number 08707 123456 to access the international dialing service, and then dialing the number of the person you wanted to call, you could insert an entry into the address book like
08707123456p0035987654
(where 0035987654 is the number of the person you wish to call via the 08707 service).
The difference between the p and w commands, for those who don't know, is that if you typed p, the number would just pause for 3 seconds before dialing the numbers after it, regardless of whether the call had connected or not, but if you used w, the phone would wait until a connection had been made, and THEN dial the numbers after it (useful for connecting to an exchange number on a corporate phone system, or quickly accessing a particular menu on your phone network's helpline).
Oddly though, it seems (to me, at least) like there's no way of replicating this functionality on a much more expensive phone - I've tried typing P and W into the number dialog using the on-screen keyboard, but the phone just ignores any letters, I've tried tapping the asterisk key to show the symbols, but they're not there, I've tried holding down the key to get the symbols (the only symbol you can get is the + symbol by holding down the zero key, and that's only if it's the first character in the string of numbers)... I'm a bit disappointed, because that means I then have to delve into my phone book whilst I'm on the line to the Justdial service, which means I waste about 45secs/a minute retrieving the Cyprus number, putting the phone on speakerphone, typing in the Cyprus number and THEN connecting to my mate's phone.
Anybody found a way of getting this pause/wait functionality on the 2i, or am I relegated to having to type the second number manually? Seems a bit rubbish if I'll have to do that, especially considering a much cheaper phone that came out four years ago can easily manage this functionality.
Try 08707123456,,,,0035987654
IT WORKED! Genius. Thanks very much dude Took about four seconds before it started to dial the second number, as I guessed it might do (one comma per second... logical, captain), and it didn't show the second number while it was dialing, but I don't care about that because it works!
Many thanks, have an eBeer on me.

Caller ID problem

Hello, i just want to ask did your caller ID software working smoothly? Mine sometimes run greaat but sometime didn't recognize caller even i have safe it and edit the pict, ringtones etc...
How about better software, anyone know?
For some reason, my Alpine doesn't show the caller's name correctly unless I do this:
As my phone is on O2, anybody in my address book who is also on O2, I have their number in as "07xxx xxxxxx" (where the Xs are their number, all mobile numbers in the UK begin 07). However, anybody who isn't on O2, I HAVE to have their number in the international +7xxx xxxxxx format, otherwise their name doesn't show up when they ring me.
I don't know why this happens, and I've not been able to figure out a workaround, and this has happened ever since I got my first XDA (I've had two), and I've done a couple of hard resets and fresh reinstalls and this still happens.
So yeah, that's what I had to do to get my caller ID working properly.
I am also on O2 and have all my numbers in international format but occasionally the device is just slow looking the number up.
It will display the number for a few rings then show the name. Of course I don't know if it always finds the name because sometimes by then I've answered the call.
Yeah, I have that problem too - the number only comes up after a few seconds if I don't have them in the right format for the person calling (depending on what network they're on) - by which time they've usually hung up or it's gone to voicemail, so meh.
Hm it's strange, for me i didn't wotk to set international format, it just show the number. And there is a funny thing, i run my caller ID and just look around, then i did soft reset. after that it will show the name and they personal photo etc. but after i soft reset again it didn't work again? :?
Any one know the other program wich do same function but does they job better?
Thank for all.
Ermm.. maybe u could try to download O2 plus...

Microsoft Voice Command - Processing Too Quickly to Use "DIAL" Command - Help

Microsoft Voice Command - Processing Too Quickly to Use "DIAL" Command - Help
Greets,
A co-worker bought Microsoft Voice Command and installed it on his Tilt. The Voice Command works fine for most items, but cuts off in the middle of a "DIAL" command, and then reads back the first 6 numbers. This happens no matter how fast you try to speak.
Since this was bought 2 days ago, it is the most recent version. Commands like "Call xxxx" and "What is my battery strength" work fine.
Does anyone else have familiarity with Voice Command acting too quickly / cutting you off before you can finish a DIAL command?
Thanks
I believe the timeout can be fixed via registry,
hklm\software\microsoft\voice command\speech
SRTimeout, mines 4000 ms.
Still No Go
Now that it is Monday I have checked the co-workers phone, and increased the timeout from 4000, to 5000, to 6000, to 7000.
In each case, the DIAL command still stops at 6 digits. Everything else works fine. Call X at Y works. What are my appointments for tomorrow works. etc.
Originally, I thought it was just stopping at 6 numbers. Actually, I started paying attention to the six numbers it is repeating (out of the standard 10 digit dialing). They have almost no bearing on the number actually spoken.
HELP!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

It sounds like the recognizer or number map is off. Are you in the US? Did you purchase a US version of MSVC?
Please see my MSVC Guide here and post there using the appropriate information.
thx.

[Q] Dialing Within A Call?

Today I tried to call a customer service number for a business on my Captivate - you know the ones, press 1 for English
Anyway, once I made the call, I figured out how to and pulled up the dial pad within the call and hit the number for my selection... Nothing happened. I tried this multiple times and the computer on the other end acted like I didnt do anything. I tried calling my cell providers customer service knowing they had a similar system, and they too couldnt recognize my key strokes to enter my mobile number.
Has anyone else had this problem? Its like the phone isnt broadcasting the tones over the line while dialing or something. Am I doing it wrong, or is this just a problem my phone has? Very odd...

You're not going home and re-entering the dialer program are you?
The best way is to go to speaker phone so you can hear it then hit dial pad from the call screen.
If you go to the home screen you are still in the call but hitting the phone icon will let you find or edit contacts, but will not broadcast unless you hit the call button but I don't think it will broadcast to the active phone call, it would likely try to start a 3-way.
from the home screen you must return to the call from the status bar.

The problem seems to have fixed itself, as it worked the next day to dial an extension to get a hold of my girlfriend at work. Very odd. My procedure was to dial the number, then while in the call look at the screen and hit the button for "dial pad' which of course brings it up. Then, enter the numbers I needed to enter.

I have had this before on another phone
It was likely because of a bad signal. It was just strong enough to reveive the signal but not strong enough to have your phone communicate to the tower. Thus on the other side of the line they never got the tones even though they were being dialed. Considering it did not happen again it appears this is the most likely cause.

[Q] Alphabet on keypad during calls?

My company has several different plants that I must call on a regular basis. Most of the time I'll call the 800 number and the press 2 which allows you to punch in the first few letters of the person's last name that you're trying to reach and it will give you their extension. Well recently I flashed a froyo rom and I can no longer see the alphabet on the keypad during phone calls. Prior to being connected it's fine...letters on the keypad. But in call...nada. Has anyone else noticed this and if so is there a fix?
Try dialer one, its on the market. Not sure but its worth a try its free.
