Just spoke to someone at Orange today who prooved most helpful. She said she couldn't find the handset in their list and I mentioned that several friends had spoken with retentions and got orders placed. So she rang through to retentions and came back to me 15 minutes later telling me that the handset will be available to retentions in 4 weeks and available to the normal Orange sales channels by the end of the November.
This did seem very definate as I was basically saying if they weren't I'd be leaving and going to a network that could satisfy my requirements.
So question is do we wait for another 4 weeks then ring retentions or do we jump ship for another network... namely T-Mobile who has a great data plan but crap network coverage (where I am at least) and an obsession with pink?
Jump ship I say. I'm in the same situation with O2, the t-mobile data tariff and flexible voice/texts is enough to get me to leave my contract with O2.
That said, if O2 offered the black (HTC original colour) version and had a solid release date I would have to re-evaluate. But waiting for a date that constantly changes (which has happened in the past with previous handsets) is just not worth it when the contract has finished its 12 months.

this is incorrect. it will be launched this week. i'd wait till the end of the week
For what its worth, I have rung O a few times over the last couple of weeks and have spoken to a few people "on the inside"...
As far as I can tell, the device is well into "review" which is O speak for a) final tweaks to their customisations and b) testing by their own people.
What this actually means is that it is likely to appear on their systems within the next two weeks max.
I am certainly waiting for an O HTC Tytn 2 as I actually like O, I like my OWU 1gb data for £8 and I get very good coverage on O wherever I go. The only other network I would ever consider is T (due to WnW) but I know many people who are unhappy with T's coverage.

For What Its Worth I Jumped Ship From O On Sat Got The Phone For £40 Saved £17 A Month , Got 1800mins/txt & Web & Walk, One Very Happy Boy !
I just took delivery today of the Vodafone v1615 which is their version of the Tytn II. Very similar to the original. Radio ROM and OS are same version. No other noticable differences apart from a few things missing.
Will post the extended rom tomorrow if I get time.
These sorts of devices often don't appear on the "coming soon" until after they are actually available... the M3100 (Hermes) was available to upgrades about two weeks before it appeared anywhere...
I don't know the other guys sources, but the device is very nearly through review - the dummy models are in the shops back rooms now...

£8 a month for 1Gb??? I am paying £8 a month for 30mb... How I get the deal you got? I have a lot of loyalty rewards already as I been with them for nearly 8yrs.
The £8 1GB Orange World Unlimited deal was only available for three months last year (up to end Sept) and only to customers on largest talk plans (eg Panther 75) and you had to be quite forceful to get it.
I haven't heard of anyone getting it recently.
I will try and be forceful... by the way the new AT&T radio 1.54.07.00 is very good on my SPV M3100
If trying to get the OWU deal, watch out as they have more recently launched various other Orange World Bundles and the system the OCS people read from offer these instead of the OWU deal. The original deal was £6.xx plus VAT and the principle condition was that the bundle once applied had to be left on for the life of the contract (ie for the full 18 months or whatever).
I have heard of someone upgrading their contract and ensuring that all existing bundles were carried forward so they didnt lose it.

Confirmed. Just poped in yesterday to T-Mobile on Princess St., Edinburgh, asked for it and manager just took out one from under the counter.
In his opinion i signed the first contract in the UK (been in the shop at 7pm, stock arrived at 6pm) but I doubt it .
So for £100-handset, 12months contract, £20/monthly this toy is mine.
!!!!!!
That is ridiculous pricing!! I wonder how fast I can get up to Edinburgh...
Just been on the T-Mobile website, and they seem to be in the process of updating a few things... and the Vario II has gone missing from the list of available phones, so it looks like the Vario III may be coming!
Think they started shipping last Wednesday if you phoned them up. I phoned on Thursday, got mine Friday.
First contract in the country indeed
Me too, phoned Thursday, got mine first thing Friday 26th.

Heh, I've had mine since last Saturday! Some have had theirs since last Thursday, so that store manager is a week behind the times!
Sigh....
Did we really need yet another thread about T-Mobile availability....?
Anyway, give it a few more hours and the place will be flooded wit AT&T Tilt..
To be fair though, most of the other posts in the threads about T-Mobile are relating to upgrades, and no-one has really said a lot about pricing and contracts etc. I'm on O2 at the minute, but I like the look of Web 'n Walk and obviously am very interested in the Vario III, so I'm keen to hear what kind of prices new customers are looking at. I also want to be able to walk into the store and take a look at the handset, or order online, where most of the other posts (if not all) involve customer service phone calls.
Well, I got mine through Scancom. Ordered last Friday, £0 for the phone, on the Flext 35 package with 1gb WnW at £37.50 for 18 months.
Alrite, O2 users
let's see who else is in my position
My O2 contract is over
still with O2
being stupidly patient with them not even having a confirmed release date for their version of the kaiser or the rumored XDA Stellar
being so tempted to move to T-mobile
even been offered a fantastic deal
PLUS t-mobile is using HSDPA and have the best mobile browsing tarrif and service
only thing is,
the t-mobile version of the fone is UGLY
and also
im pray pray praying that O2 retentions would give me a better deal, AND maybe they would come out with a better looking version of the phone.... that way i can myself the hassle of moving my number around
all i can do now is wait
what do u guys think?
I switched to T-Mobile on a WNWplus tariff. When I phone O2 to cancel, they offered me £100 credit on my bill plus lower tariff than currently. But since they could not even tell me IF the Kaiser was coming out, I switched. Got my MDA Vario III in 48 hours and my number was ported in a week or so (until then I used call diverts to my temporary number).
I'm waiting. It's a work phone upgrade so I don't have a choice on the network.
I've just had to ask them to wait to do my upgrade
Thought i was the only one....
NO You are not alone!
I too have been waiting patiently, and ive gotten rather frustrated too, i called up o2 and have not been told when the phone is coming out or if it will even come out.
Im not sure if i should just go to expansys and get the phone from there. But then ive also been advised to wait since if o2 DO release the phone they might offer a better deal...
Im very happy you started this thread.. i thought i was the only one waiting..
btw, november 19th is the "latest" release that ive heard of..... (ive also heard dec/jan... i guess noone actually knows)
I just spoke to them and they said Nov to me as well
guys dont want and just switch to t-mobile.
Even if you get kaiser in o2 Data plan is rubbish - 200 or 300 megs only...
i know it sounds a lot but with tmobile unlimited data plan there is so much less to worry about.
after more than a year having wizard on o2 and now having kaiser on tmob i'm finally discovering what a pda is really for! email on the move, browsing internet whenever i wish to, listening to favourite internet radio on the way to uni and many more.
and hsdpa.. omg how fast it is... I'm lucky to be from Edinburgh where whole city is covered with Hsdpa range!

I switched from O2, since I figured December at the earliest for the XDA Stellar - they don't want to poison their precious iPhone launch, do they?
The T-Mobile phone is a thing of beauty. It's not the cool black look of my XDA Exec, but it's actually very nice. The pictures don't do it justice, IMO.
O2 retentions tried to fob me off with a crappy 200Mb for £7 deal. When I pointed out that T-Mob gave me 5 times as much, he simply assured me that based on my current usage (nil) I'd never go over that. He didn't have a comeback when I said the reason I didn't use their data at the moment was because it was horrifically expensive.
He did offer me about 50 minutes for £8 per year, but that was just to keep my number on their books, and I wanted to transfer it over, so I declined that one.
Also, O2 are downgrading their networks from 3G to EDGE so that the iPhone can get better-than-GPRS speeds. T-Mob are upgrading to HDSPA - it's even in Macclesfield! (well I was impressed )
Also, as mentioned, T-Mob give you 5x as much data per month as O2.
I switched.
Think about it.
I had a line with both I was tempted to wait till o2 got there act together but as I already used my orbit with my t-mobile chip, the choice was simple.
I wanted to see if o2 were going to get the device looking as good as the orbit, but I am glad I didn't wait as the device is so much better than I could have imagined.
The speeds are amazing in comparison, not worth the wait go with t-mobile imho.
Only benefit with possible o2 issue is the all black looks (like orbit) but by the time that comes out better options will already be on the horizon.
Why not get a Vodafone v1615 (Kaiser)? It has a beautiful shiny black back and looks really nice.
I got it for free because my bill this month was quite big
Today O2 announced that they are going to drop the 200mb FUP.
So unlimited will really mean unlimited.
I don't know if that only applies to iPhone customers (unlikely) or everyone.
Hi Just like to say i too am waiting , waiting waiting zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for it on O2 UK as the T-Mobile service around my home and in London City is still appaling.
ive asked o2 if teh 200meg FUP is lifted for all users but have had no reply as yet.
The Register think it'll (at least to start with) be for iPhone customers only.
What does this mean? GPRS and EDGE only. So it's harder to download more, since you're getting it so much slower than HSDPA.
I get HSDPA on O2 now in London. They are rolling it out.
Strange thing is, I only get H on my phone when i am actually using the data.

I belive that is how it is meant to work.
My contract is up in a month so I am waiting to see what o2 do. My mate who is an asst manger in an o2 store told me Dec/jan
So will have to see
Kimbie
I didn't wait, and even forfeited a month of my contract. Apart from the lack of the XDA Stellar and 200Mb limit, I've also noticed O2 have deliberately invested in sponsorship deals such as The O2, as oposed to new technology. The iPhone is a prime example of their lack of commitment, as they have taken the 'easy' technology option.
I checked today and the O2 XDA Stellar (IE TyTn II) should be avaliable on the 27th of november. this is subject to the clearance of current stock of the XDA Trion (original TyTn).
also the 200mb limit isnt really invoked only if you use around 1GB will anything be checked as the codes to add this to the system show a 1024mb limit in place on the £7.50 bolton
Oh well got a Vario 3 now on TMob
Kimbie
I got mine as an O2 upgrade a month ago from here and it's the original HTC phone, much better than the crap O2 will probably roll out themselves
http://www.theorder.co.uk/o2/upgrades/deals/HTC/TyTN II/O2-Upgrade
I rang 10 days ago to get a PAC code to transfer to my Orange Tytn II. They offered me the Stellar on November 19th for free with unlimited data for £7.50 a month with 500 mins and 500 texts on a 12 month contract for £25pm
The Orange Tytn II is going back tomorrow as the reception is awful where I live and work, which in turn is killing the battery.
I'm hoping the rollout hasn't been pushed back.
hi there?
they're giving out offers for the stellar ALREADY?!
that's not fair
i called them 2 days ago for my pac code and the best they can do to make me stay is saying to me "well, it's up to you..."
who did u call? o2 retentions or xda
did they promise they will have it delivered by the 19th?
and... how the heck duz the stellar look like?
hummmmm
Hi All!!
My current mobile phone is coming to the end of its contract next month so I started to look round at the alternatives.
I came across the tytn 2 and the more I read about it the more I wanted it. Then I came across this forum and now I can't wait to get it (how sad is that, I'm acting like a kid and I'm 47!!).
I do have a question though and that is how easy it was to upgrade it to windows mobile 6.1 because I think it comes with 6???
Apologies if this is a bit off topic but I wondered if anyone out there in the UK has been offered a better deal than me on the Tytn by Orange.
My deal...
On a £30 per month/18 month tariff with money knocked off for handing in an old phone (£50) it comes to £24.44 per month.
For this I get 100 mins per month and unlimited texts
And finally the Tytn 2 itself will cost me £80 and they're throwing in a free but cheap bluetooth headset.
Sorry to go on a bit and again I hope asking about my deal isn't off topic...
I'd do it if i were you. Tytn II is a good friend in your pocket.
But with 100 Callminutes.. bit to low though.
I say: Do it!
Thanks ElProempie
All comments keenly received (the more the better!)
I am on orange and was going to leave them this month, i got the folowing for £40 a month, I am in band 4 of 5 some months my bill used to be a couple of hundred..
1800 mins,
500 texts,
a bolt on that can be unlimited texts, orange calls or land line calls.
250MB web usage
a free tytn 2
I accepted
Hi Sorted69
Thanks for the info, I'm nowhere near you for usage and I've got to keep the monthly cost to £25 at the most.............keep em coming though!!
Forgive me for being a noob world traveler...
Are cell phone plans really that expensive in Europe? I pay $40USD for 450 minutes per month and my unused minutes build up to prevent overage charges. I also have unlimited Data/SMS/MMS for $40USD.
I pay ~$70/mo with taxes once my corporate discount is taken from the normal figures above.
Can't help with the costs, but it's really easy to upgrade the TyTN II. Just use Olipro's unlocker (stick'ed in the Kaiser ROM forum) to install hardSPL, and to SIM and CID unlock it. Just pick a ROM and follow the (easy) instructions. Job done!
(btw, my phone was originally an Orange TyTN II)

I currently pay £27.50 ($54) per month for 75 minutes of calls, 100 texts, and 120mb of data, on a 12 month contract. Since the plan's perfectly suited to my needs, I rarely if ever exceed any of this, so $54 is exactly what I pay each month. Signing up to this, the Tytn II cost me just £50 ($99) last October.
I can upgrade again come August (60 days before the contract ends), not sure what they'll offer me...
Thanks again guys, it's interesting to see what other people are paying!

Familyguy, best to read the wiki, linked in the above post.
BTW, I'm new to this too. I've only had mine for 2 or 3 weeks, so don't ask me for advice
As to costs, mine gets paid for by my company
This has turned in to a "I pay less than you do" thread.
@ OP
Who cares what who pays. I live by the rule that if I am willing to pay the price that someone is asking, then it is not too much. It all depends on what you are willing to pay. As to 6.1 roms, there is a plethora of cooked 6.1 roms to choose from, from loaded to light. The choice is yours. You don't need anyones advice on whether or not to "Do It" or not. Some would say no due to driver issues and others would say "Go For It". As for driver issues, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I dont use my phone for serious multimedia. Thats what my laptop is for. I say if you don't think the price is to high or to good to be true then "Go For It". Do what you want and don't let anyone influence your decision. However, all that being said, if and when you purchase it and then decide you made the wrong decision, everything you need to tweak the **** out of it is located in this forum. I really didn't like my Tilt after I first got it, but now I love it. I can change the damn thing daily. It's like getting a new phone every day.

Definitely worth shopping around - although note that Vodafone call their version of the Tytn II (aka Kaiser) a "Vodafone V1615", and for O2 it's the "O2 XDA Stellar". Both the same thing, slightly different roms and paint jobs, that's all.
My V1615 came sim unlocked (so I can potentially use it on any network), and I've since used the tools on this forum to flash it to the generic HTC rom, so it is to all intents and purposes a generic HTC Tytn II now
Thanks again guys, I had a look at the link above but didn't notice any 6.1 roms......I'll have a further search though, it's probably me not looking hard enough (wife always finds things but I can look directly at something without seeing it!!)
Trouble with O2 and voda is that they don't do a pink viewty which the wife wants at the same time, plus if we get 2 phones at the same time orange will offer us 1000 free orange to orange minutes per month!!
Seems like I might have a good deal then

You beat me to the post LOL.
Yep available at http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/htc_touch_diamond/detail/pay_monthly
To be honest i think this is a cracking buy and will be hard to beat.
Dolphin 35 Tarif includes £5 discount so will only cost you £30 month.
600 miins, unlimited texts and unlimited tinternet.
I have also confirmed that they support hsdpa speeds for internet.
I booked mine yesterday and should recieve tomorrow so I get a new toy to play with for the weekend
by the way the phone is only £39.99
Got to be one of the best contracts available IMHO
Yes its out
I ordered mine from http://www.mobiles.co.uk yesterday some good deals there to.
Better than the orange website itself
Should receive mine tomorrow (Fri)
Looks like Orange have finally caught up with tmobile and the rest of the operators offering "unlimited" internet (subject to fair use policy - silly service providers! unlimited should mean unlimited!)
Also looks like Orange are having a reshuffle so lets hope their customer service and retentions teams are gonna do their best to actually keep hold of customers from now on!
I think i would go back to orange, but at the moment, im happy with tmobile, i luckily got my phone from eXpansys so ive got an HTC Diamond, no awful Orange branding there then!
This forums gonna explode over the next few days as people get their new toys!

Interesting to see that the display card (instore) the magazine and the website all have different standby times for this device... lol
Just placed my order.
Great deal for the price. Given up waiting for T-Mobile (even though I slightly prefer the Compact IV looks) and they'd probably work out more expensive anyway.
Just a shame they won't deliver to my work address, so it'll be at least Tuesday before I get it.
Mmm some good deals on there razoruk1974
i looked at mobiles.co.uk But for me the internet is a big thing and the package is only £30 from orange website as opposed to £40 on mobiles.co.uk
mr_Ray, Did you order from Orange cause I should expect you get this Fri or Sat.
I rang up last night at 8pm, I just recieved my text to say the phone has been despatched and should recieve tomorrow.
Quick or what..
I dont care about the orange branding of the rom as this will be the first thing i will change
along with some of the good speed tweaks we have on here.
Let the Diamond forum Rock..
Does anyone know what the fair use policy is for the theoretical unlimited internet package from Orange? This hasn't been that clever for non T-mobile packages in the past.

The good thing about the orange customisationis the Orange logo is on the back cover which can be replaced-unless the have changed the dummy model
Just bought mine from the Orange store in Bristol. Looked like they only had one handset in stock.
£35 / month for 600 minutes, 3000 texts and unlimited internet, plus I get £5.50 per month back when I trade in my old handset, taking it to £29.50 / month.
Currently have a TyTn 1, so looking forwward to using a smaller handset with a better interface. The standard WM interface is pretty awful IMHO.
I was torn between the Diamond and the iPhone, but when the reviews came in saying that it *still* didn't support MMS, I decided to go for the Diamond.
It's charging up on my desk right now!

have you checked the interface yet ?
i am deciding between vodafone and orange (orange reception where I work is not ver good) but will be swayed by who has mucked around with the interface the most.
Orange used to total layer up, but recently their HTC devices have been close to the original in software terms.
Whats your view here after looking at the device ?
If Orange UK uses the same softs as Orange France, the TF3D has been all reskinned (in a better way IMHO), an "analog" clog replaces the nice digital one, no more youtube and google earth but orange TV and Orange navigation, the internet tab is for Orange word, etc.
I sent a screenshot of the clock here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406642 (note that I manage the icon bar using the advanced tool, so it's not in order, and the windows skin is not the default orange one (grey, as for TF3D))
My Orange phone just arrived. I had pre-ordered last week, After loads of transferring. They let me pre-order it. Paying £35 a month 1400 minutes, unlimited Text. Unlimited Net, and insurance and guess what its UNBRANDED!!!!!! IT's GENERIC!!!
CHuFFED !!
Hey guys, have this on preorder from Three, black version which is end of April for them (on one hand good as my O2 contract doesn't end until then, on the other bad cos SO SEXY!)
I just wanna clarify something, which I apologise if it's a stupid question - but I want this to be future proof. I know there is talk of some variants of the HTC One with no LTE; firstly, is this even true? And secondly, if true, is the Three network version an LTE variant?

The phone supports LTE (4G) for the UK. In the US there is an alternative 4G technology like Sprint use, WiMAX. But Three won't have LTE till late this year. In the meantime you can use DC-HSDPA (dual channel HSDPA) which gets you close to those speeds anyway. Three have a good part of their networking supporting DC-HSDPA
Beauty is three will upgrade you to 4g for free and it will be unlimited data unlike the rest
I get 18mb at present with my note one which is 8gb faster than my broadband !
Three represent excellent value for money I've been with them since they started they have improved their call centre and I would never move to anyone else
Don't think about it do it
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Great! Exactly what I was expecting tbh, just wanted to check I wasn't being conned with a cheap variant
And yeah, their Ultrafast thing seems pretty cool until their 4G comes on, and one of my reasons for moving to them was that they said they won't charge more, and their all you can eat data!
EDIT - Query:
Weird query, for Three, their delivery estimate is end of April. So let's say 30th April. Now, I want to port my existing number from O2 - no problem, I know how to arrange all that.
So here is where I'm less sure. My current O2 contract ends on 27th April, i.e. just before I might get the new phone. So, will my PAC code remain valid after I go out of contract with O2? Will I have to keep with O2 and take out a pay and go or month to month just to hold onto the number?

presume your going for the black variant ? silver is available either now or in a week
have you checked coverage for 3 .. they cover 97% of the country just make sure your not in the 3 percent !
When they started years ago they were horrendous but they have got better and better .. you will have unlimited internet, no throttling and free 4g when it goes live .. I use around 9gb per month and it costs me £36 with all my other allowances ..

They certainly have the most competitive prices and value for money, but be 100% SURE you are not the 3%(I am) as it is a pain the the rear to cancel your contract and you will have some charges(ie minutes for calls etc). I must say that their customer service has been really good every time we called them. I am very close to an aerial (less than a mile), but because(I assume) I am on the ground floor, at a funny angle, I struggle to get a signal. I had no issues on Symbian phones(Nokias) however since the wife and I changed over to Android in 2010 I have never had the same signal(not blaming Android) just seems an odd coincidence. I wish they were ok as I really like the idea of no premium for 4G. Considering going with them anyway for the 4G later in the year.

The problem with Three is the lack of 2G fallback. 2G gets into those hard to reach places better than 3G. Three's coverage value of 97% is outdoor coverage. The reality on indoor is considerably worse. In terms of data deals, nothing comes close to Three's plans, but it will always suffer as the worst coverage network which is a real shame. For home use, Three do have their home signal box which gives you a perfect signal around your home but uses your broadband connection to do so. I use one.
