Hi All!!
My current mobile phone is coming to the end of its contract next month so I started to look round at the alternatives.
I came across the tytn 2 and the more I read about it the more I wanted it. Then I came across this forum and now I can't wait to get it (how sad is that, I'm acting like a kid and I'm 47!!).
I do have a question though and that is how easy it was to upgrade it to windows mobile 6.1 because I think it comes with 6???
Apologies if this is a bit off topic but I wondered if anyone out there in the UK has been offered a better deal than me on the Tytn by Orange.
My deal...
On a £30 per month/18 month tariff with money knocked off for handing in an old phone (£50) it comes to £24.44 per month.
For this I get 100 mins per month and unlimited texts
And finally the Tytn 2 itself will cost me £80 and they're throwing in a free but cheap bluetooth headset.
Sorry to go on a bit and again I hope asking about my deal isn't off topic...
I'd do it if i were you. Tytn II is a good friend in your pocket.
But with 100 Callminutes.. bit to low though.
I say: Do it!
Thanks ElProempie
All comments keenly received (the more the better!)
I am on orange and was going to leave them this month, i got the folowing for £40 a month, I am in band 4 of 5 some months my bill used to be a couple of hundred..
1800 mins,
500 texts,
a bolt on that can be unlimited texts, orange calls or land line calls.
250MB web usage
a free tytn 2
I accepted
Hi Sorted69
Thanks for the info, I'm nowhere near you for usage and I've got to keep the monthly cost to £25 at the most.............keep em coming though!!
Forgive me for being a noob world traveler...
Are cell phone plans really that expensive in Europe? I pay $40USD for 450 minutes per month and my unused minutes build up to prevent overage charges. I also have unlimited Data/SMS/MMS for $40USD.
I pay ~$70/mo with taxes once my corporate discount is taken from the normal figures above.
Can't help with the costs, but it's really easy to upgrade the TyTN II. Just use Olipro's unlocker (stick'ed in the Kaiser ROM forum) to install hardSPL, and to SIM and CID unlock it. Just pick a ROM and follow the (easy) instructions. Job done!
(btw, my phone was originally an Orange TyTN II)

so your getting 450 mins unlimited texts and net access for the equivelent of £35 a month INCLUDING your discounts.
And your saying the UK is expensive?!

I currently pay £27.50 ($54) per month for 75 minutes of calls, 100 texts, and 120mb of data, on a 12 month contract. Since the plan's perfectly suited to my needs, I rarely if ever exceed any of this, so $54 is exactly what I pay each month. Signing up to this, the Tytn II cost me just £50 ($99) last October.
I can upgrade again come August (60 days before the contract ends), not sure what they'll offer me...
Thanks again guys, it's interesting to see what other people are paying!
synet when you say just pick a ROM.........where from???
And do these ROM's have mobile 6.1 on them??
Thanks
Boinng...........this makes me think I should venture into the vodafone and possibly O2 shops before I go ahead with the deal on orange this Saturday!

Familyguy, best to read the wiki, linked in the above post.
BTW, I'm new to this too. I've only had mine for 2 or 3 weeks, so don't ask me for advice
As to costs, mine gets paid for by my company
This has turned in to a "I pay less than you do" thread.
@ OP
Who cares what who pays. I live by the rule that if I am willing to pay the price that someone is asking, then it is not too much. It all depends on what you are willing to pay. As to 6.1 roms, there is a plethora of cooked 6.1 roms to choose from, from loaded to light. The choice is yours. You don't need anyones advice on whether or not to "Do It" or not. Some would say no due to driver issues and others would say "Go For It". As for driver issues, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I dont use my phone for serious multimedia. Thats what my laptop is for. I say if you don't think the price is to high or to good to be true then "Go For It". Do what you want and don't let anyone influence your decision. However, all that being said, if and when you purchase it and then decide you made the wrong decision, everything you need to tweak the **** out of it is located in this forum. I really didn't like my Tilt after I first got it, but now I love it. I can change the damn thing daily. It's like getting a new phone every day.

Definitely worth shopping around - although note that Vodafone call their version of the Tytn II (aka Kaiser) a "Vodafone V1615", and for O2 it's the "O2 XDA Stellar". Both the same thing, slightly different roms and paint jobs, that's all.
My V1615 came sim unlocked (so I can potentially use it on any network), and I've since used the tools on this forum to flash it to the generic HTC rom, so it is to all intents and purposes a generic HTC Tytn II now
Thanks again guys, I had a look at the link above but didn't notice any 6.1 roms......I'll have a further search though, it's probably me not looking hard enough (wife always finds things but I can look directly at something without seeing it!!)
Trouble with O2 and voda is that they don't do a pink viewty which the wife wants at the same time, plus if we get 2 phones at the same time orange will offer us 1000 free orange to orange minutes per month!!
Seems like I might have a good deal then

Well you all seem to get good phones cheaper then us. The cheapest I've seen the Tilt here was $149 with a 24 month contract. All we get for free here is a *insert random featureless phone model here*.
You obviously have a good monthly plan. However, unless my currency translator (ie my brain) is malfunctioning, you seem to be getting a better deal then the OP.

Hi all,
I'm due for and upgrade soon and I was wondering what you think of your operator. Prices / Customer service and support / Network coverage etc.
EDIT-My original reason for this thread is below. I took the risk of going with Orange today and got a Trinity
I'm considering a Trinity (only on Orange atm) or a Hermes (on o2, T-Mobile and Vodafone)
I prefer to look of the Trinity (bigger storage card, size, cheaper and GPS) but I view Orange as a bad point, but the Hermes has more support and roms here and is available with my current operator - o2, who I plan to bribe with 'give a free phone and a better contract, or I'll go to t-mobile or vodafone.' Anyone had any luck doing that?
reliability- vodafone
best deals - t-mobile
t-mobile wins
Do you know if any of the UK providers offer unlimited internet connection (without the stupid 'fair use' policy)? I mean, really unlimited like usual broadband?

How much are you planning on using? I find it hard to get anywhere close to the 1GB fair use "limit" on standard Web n Walk.
Unless you plan on doing a lot of streaming video, in which case you should get the Web n Walk pro which has a 10Gb ceiling, you will find it hard to download a lot on a pocket pc.
bbobeckyj, I tried the same 'bribe' but it got me nowhere. I have always been on O2, but might have to switch to Vodafone because they have much better contracts that suit my needs for my XDA Mini S. Vodafon are bringing out a new internet extra as well soon, so I'm going to wait until then.
Well guys and gals I successfully ported across to t-mobile from O2....the data charges are just scandalous on O2.
Web-n-walk and U-Fix 25....nice
HSDPA activated already according to the woman at t-mobile and i can verify it was....just watched the latest BBC News feed without a hitch!.
NICE

I was thinking of using skype a lot actually. For that, I think definitely 1 GB limit will be crossed fairly easily. But for that also need a fast connection. Will look into all this when about to get new contract near end August.
Midget1990: I didn't know that usual broadband is also capped! I have NTL and I download easily something like 20 to 40 gigs a month, which sometimes increases and sometimes decreases... So far never faced any caps, and got this connection just for that fact that it was 'really' unlimited, even if the speed was just 2 Mbps.
Just so you know, t-mobiles usage policy doesnt allow skype...you have to use the web-n-walk pro for that.

You just potentially saved me spending a lot over nothing.
Now all that's left is to find someone who does allow unlimited usage and VOIP. I think I'm living in dreamworld
I don't really want to pay loads for a contract, but it looks like the cheapest t-mobile do is about £30 . Which would you say is better out of web n walk and flext?
EDIT: Just looked at flext 20 and it looks perfect for me. (Mobile internet (t-zones, WAP or web'n'walk) charges
Browsing costs 0.73p per KB, a maximum charge of £1 per day no matter how much you browse the internet on your mobile phone.)
Please could somebody say though, where would the £1 for the internet come from, because the £34 you get to spend a month just says that you use it on calls and texts. Does it come from somewhere else? (Never been on a contract before)
Well all i can say is im using flext 25 with web-n-walk 18.....that works out at 32.50 a month..........unlimited internet (obviously fair use...but a gig is MASSIVE for a pda)
the flext thing has 60 quid of allowance, works out at (if you go half for text and half for calls)
300 texts
150 minutes (anytime,anywhere(uk) )
plus free weekend calls to ANY uk number (not including premium or 08 numbers)
Youd get much more out of the flext + web-n-walk 25, but i really wanted to pay the cheapest option. I hate it when they put a few quid in between, but boost the allowance by almost double.

Yer ive noticed that...but the free weekend calls must be worth a HELL of alot.....think thats a limited time offer aswell??
Which have you looked at then?
I was gonna go with flext 20 + web-n-walk.
I can't see when the offer ends, I can't actually start the contract now so was going to in a month or so.

WnW MAX allows skype, its basicly everything like home Broadband but with 10gb fair usage, you can go over but if you go over say 3months in a row they may contact you and ask you to reduce it, allthou 10gb for a PDA is a hell of a lot, unless you plan on using it as a modem a lot of the time 10gb should do.
if you will be using it as a modem all the time then the t-mobile usb modem might be a better option as that allows unlimtied internet - http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/personal/.../internet-on-the-move/internet-on-your-laptop
Regards
I wish that t-mobile did a cheaper flext and web-n-walk. I only really want to spend £20 a month.
Orange - best customer service, talk 7 data plans ok, do the Trinity on very good deals if you shop around
T mobile - plans excellent if you want flexibility or if you download a lot.
O2 - customerservice absolute ****, plans ok, once the best range of PDA's - now limited
Vodafone - havnt a clue
Really depends on deal your offered. Orange clinched it for me at last upgrade - 7 months free line rental and a free trinity with GPS on a 12 month contract.
One thing to note about t-mobile wnw.
They are blocking IRC/MSN etc... over GPRS, some users have reported those apps are working correctly however recently signed up customers seem to have ports blocked??
Id be interested to know if anyone can use IRC over wnw....if so what GPRS settings are you using?

Short answer - no. I've been with Genie and then O2 for many years, and the one thing that's happened in that time is handset and contracts have become more expensive. I rang up a while ago to try and get a new XDA, and they wanted to put me on a £35+ contract and I would still have to pay something for a (decent) phone.
What O2 are good at (for me at least) is giving you dirt cheap contracts. For instance I got a 1 year contract of £20 a month reduced to £10 a month, then £100 cash back for not taking a phone. So I'm paying £20 for a whole year for Online Offpeak 300 (or whatever the hell it is). Even the O2 rep suggested I just get an XDA off Ebay.
Hi all,
My T-Mobile upgrade has come around and I've just got off the phone with the upgrade dept having gone for the Vario II (TyTN). Of course after doing so I started looking around on here to see what the state of play is regarding firmware and unlocking etc, then I find out about the Kaiser!
So, is it worth phoning T-Mobile back and cancelling the Vario II in anticipation of this coming out? The site says "expected September" but do you think that's accurate? Also there's the cost involved... The Vario II is costing me £80, but I imagine the Kaiser will be more. Will it be worth the extra?
Any opinions gratefully received!
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328501&highlight=worth+it
I would say no to selling a TyTN at a loss to buy a TyTN II, but for someone in your case I would say it's definitely worth going with the newest model, even if there is a small premium on the upgrade price.

Definitely! But haggle and speak to retentions - you might get it for same price as Vario II
So I phoned them back and spoke to the same guy from before. He said the Vario III is already available for upgrade customers and it'll cost an extra 30 quid! Consider it done. It'll be here next week.
Thanks for the advice.
Noiz, if you don't mind me asking, how much is your typical monthly spend? Just to give me an idea of an upgrade cost.
Can't decide between a Touch, for its size, or the Kaiser for its performance.
cheers.
I just got my Kaiser a day ago and I can say that the build quality alone is worth it. It's amazing how much better the physical build quality is compared to the TyTN. It seems like HTC really put alot of effort into making this unit.
JB
yea they should have added atleast a little more internal memory. Something like 2GB internal memory would have been awesome.

Not at all! I'm on the FlexT 25 + Web n' Walk bundle. It originally cost me £26 a month because of a discount when I signed up. They said if I wanted to keep that price it would cost me more to upgrade, so he reset the contract price to its default, but then gave me a £5 discount on that. In the end it's now costing me £27.50 a month. I never actually use any more than my allowance each month.
I could've brought the price down a fair bit more by going for the FlexT 30 plan, but with the Web n' Walk on top it would've been £37.50 a month, so I decided against that.
If you're switching from another provider they seem to be offering discounts on FlexT plans on the website right now, although I didn't see the Vario III there.
Thanks for that. I'm on the exact same tariff as you but paying £24.38 due to getting 25% off. I would expect to pay a similar amount to you then, maybe a little more.
My brother get's his Touch today so after having a play with that i'll try to make my mind up which one to go for. The Touch should be free.
Thanks again.
I think they quoted me £20 for the Touch, but I'm sure you could haggle it down. Personally I wanted something with a full hardware keyboard so the Touch was out. I think you get the Touch interface with the Kaiser though if I'm not mistaken...
If anyone's watching this thread, waiting for my Kaiser to arrive, check my post here:

Well, i'm in the process of upgrading my Hermes to a Kaiser on T-Mobile UK. My bill for the past year is £45-£50 a month, and it looks like it'll be about the same for the next year too. so my upgrade costs are.....
On the 30/11/07: £80
5/12/07: £100
20/12-07: £230
Tomorrow? god knows!
oh - on a brand new contract - it was £150 (early dec) now £190.
Have i missed something or is that just crazy????
think i'll wait til the middle of Jan... it'll either be 500+ or free!!
you can get an o2 steller for £89 on a £35/month contract. thats why my girlfriend is leaving t-mobile and going to o2. t-mobile just dont treat their customers very well esspecially their returning customers
It would be worth ringing T-Mobile and asking to end the contract; I'm sure they'll be more flexible in the upgrade cost once they realise they are about to lose a customer
Thats how i got mine, i threatned to leave, as i actually was going to move to orange. But they ended giving me a really good price plan and the kaiser for £80 (unfortunately i couldnt get it for free ) The networks are very tight wen it comes to giving away things
I just went from a T Mobile Wizard to Kaiser, playing the give me my PAC Code routine does not seem to work, however, what does work is to just keep ringing, i rang 4 times and got 3 different deals ???
In the end i got the Kaiser for £80 and they let me downgrade to W&W 20 or whatever £27.50.
I looked hard at Orange and O2, but the W&W Tariff is far better VFM.
just to let you no how it works with T-mobile. each account has a CLC customer lifetime contribution T0-S4 and is worked out on many different things, price plan, what type of cals you make/recive, what's outside your allowance, how much allowance how often u call customer service. basicly how much u cost to keep compared to how much u make them, but not loyalty as a lot of people still think I can't tell you what things have what amout of nfluance as I don't know and nobody apart from the big wigs can tell you either. any way T customers are high value but not many people are T customers, T0 T1 and T2 range from 230-320 on a 12 month and 280-380 on 18 but like I said this is rare and also an advisor can overspend 20 for any T customer without asking anyony. most common are mid value account S0-S4 S0=200 S1=180 S2=100 S3=50 and S4=RRP no matter contract lenth but S0 and S1 can also auto overspend by 30 but only on a 18 month plan baisicly if your S4 you don't get anything. anythibg else and your best option is either a web match so get the same as a new cust ore some times better to just pay some toward the handset, but will only be FOC ir you are a very high user. and threatening to leave and askeing for a PAC and a manager etc will not do anything a a advisor in upgrade team has all the same systems and accses as a manager and the same athority when people put you on hold to check with a manager there probably getting a drink. and kickibg of and demanding a manager will just be told a 2hr cal back which will not happen mainly because its a waste of time for everyone involved as a manager realy won't be able to do anything extra. hope this has cleared a few things up, and I apoligise in advance for punctation spelling etc its late now and im on my kaiser and can't be arsed to check it
forgot to mention vario 3 as a upgrade is 280 or 370 with co piolt
well O2 will still be getting my £89 tomorrow and £42.50 a month for the contract plus web bolt-on. thats £845 over 18 months t-mobile will not be getting
I already tried threatening to leave T-mob, but that doesn't (as said above) seem to acheive anything. They told me i have a £200 "upgrade discount" but thats 200 off any magical figure they pick out the air!
The t&c of o2 web bolt on doesn't reassure me, as despite what they told me in store, it only mentions web access ie web pages and doesn't mention other online services (messenger, voip, ftp, ssh, etc etc).
Oh, and O2 will charge me for the handset based on my voice package cost, then i have to add the web on for an extra cost, but no handset discount!
They way T-mob is swinging the prices about i think they may have a rush on for handsets so the prices are going up, hopefully in the new year they'll have too many and the price will drop....
sory to dissapoint but its not going to get any cheaper in new year its stil going to be 280 handsets like that don't go down in price im afraid the vario2 and compact3 etc are still the same now as when they come out originaly. the prices vary because of who you speak to there not meant to offer full spend straight away and some won't at all and some wil overspend but most won't as the mony they spend affects their stats an also their bonas
well my girlfiend called up t-mobile today to cancel her contract and the oddest thing happened, they undercut o2's handset price. end result, same web-n-walk flext 25 with added £20 a month for free. so £89 worth of calls texts, and mms. grand total £32/month and the handset was £69.99
this was the first call to t-mobile, no repeated calls, she just told them she was treated rude by the instore rep and said o2 had offered her the stellar for £89 with a better data package (£7.50 a month for full HSDPA) not t-mobiles cut down 3G web-n-walk service for £7.50.
Thats all it took and he sorted out the vario III to be picked up instore because the warehouse didnt have any
RESULT!!

O2 seem to IMHO. Haven't paid for a phone from them in 4 yrs. Started with a Nokia 6230, then the 6230i, then to the XDA Exec (HTC Uni) and now the Kaiser (Stellar). My monthly spend is £30-£40 and all but the latest were 12 month contracts. Now on 18 month due to better offers. Interestingly, they seem to have upgraded my handset warrenty to 18 months too. I wonder if any of the other networks do this?

Note quite, the online "my t-mobile" has the same upgrade price (getting more expensive since the start of dec), so its not the person i speak to, its the computer system. Either T-mobile are downgrading my "upgrade status" or the basic cost is going up. Also, the new customer cost has gone up in the past 2 weeks. Next time i speak to them i'll try and get a better deal, but i'm not confident they have that much power to override the computer. :-(
well I was first quoted £230 upgrade on my girlfriends contract from the Vario to the Vario III. when we called today to cancel they did have a better price, even though we had been told by an instore rep the compuer had the last say in your upgrade price and threatening to leave t-mobile would have no effect. he saud it was useless calling t-mobile as they would give the same price as he quoted.
He obviously was talking total crap because they where very quick to give a good deal. £69.99 for a vario III on w-n-w flext 25 is a damn good price as they also threw in the same extra £20 as the original contract and we got w-n-w plus for the price of w-n-w standard.
Prices are not set in stone so dont settle for those inflated prices quoted. Its all about who you tallk to as to what price you get. basically any rep that tries to charge £230 wants to give themselvs a decent commision and not give the customer a decent price
I was fully ready to get an o2 stellar after the way my girlfriend and I was treated in store. He was rude and refused to call customer services to check for a lower price. He told us we may as well go somewhere else if we wanted to pay less.
The way we where treated was brought up in the phone conversation with t-mobile and it may have had some bearing on the price, or it coud of just been the sales rep that wanted to give us a good deal, either way its was not a set price as he quoted two prices before we went for the final offer
I got my Stellar from 02 for £40.
I was going to move to t-mobile until i phoned up 02 and asked to cancel.
They guy on the cancellation desk was very helpfull and gave me a good deal so i decided to stay with 02
the only downside is that there is no 3g in my area with 02 but there was for t-mobile but getting the stellar for £40 instead of £117 I can live without the 3g
the cost for a new T-mobile vario did go up but i dont no why but the upgrade price has always been 280 and will be for a long time. your upgrade limit can change whenever it feels like it but can be overid by any 1 the advisor can overide any think on the system its just what wil happen if they do, thats why no one will and managers cant do anythin different, there are extra things that can be done but there is still a limit and never to far from the original.and one other thing NEVER listen to what my T-mobile offers it is always the absoultr minimum i work in the loyalty team at T-mobile as you can probebly gues from how much i no if any one wants to PM me with there number i will do u a favor and call u up with the absoult best we can do. im leaveing soon so dont realy care what my stats and spend are so ill let ya no the best we can offer
one other thing never listen to the people in the shops either there systems are compleatly different from theirs the ring us to set their offers on the system for them. allways call the network direct never upgrade online or instore unless its been set up first over the phone for you

the cost for a new T-mobile vario did go up but i dont no why but the upgrade price has always been 280 and will be for a long time. your upgrade limit can change whenever it feels like it but can be overid by any 1 the advisor can overide any think on the system its just what wil happen if they do, thats why no one will and managers cant do anythin different, there are extra things that can be done but there is still a limit and never to far from the original.and one other thing NEVER listen to what my T-mobile offers it is always the absoultr minimum i work in the loyalty team at T-mobile as you can probebly gues from how much i no if any one wants to PM me with there number i will do u a favor and call u up with the absoult best we can do. im leaveing soon so dont realy care what my stats and spend are so ill let ya no the best we can offer

I sure wish you would of said this yesterday before we went for the £69.99 offer. although it was a damn good price for the fact she is still on webnwalk flex 25 with a £20 extra credit a month and webnwalk plus for the price of webnwalk standard.
Would you have been able to get a better price?
to be fair 69.99 on flext 25 is a good offer anyway i dont think i could have done much more than that. you definitely got a good deal
I'm glad i got mine when i did then.
Cost me £100 for the fone, but i kept my Staff discount even though i'm not staff anymore, so i've got 50% off everything...
Flext 35 and W&W Plus for £25... i'm well pleased...
Rather pay slightly more for the fone and save over £300 line rental over the life of the contract...
G
about time too
upgrade should be next week
Awesome!! I just noticed this myself. I've been waiting for this, my tmobile contract ran out on sunday. I moving to orange because it has better coverage around the crap hole where i live. I can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy
You beat me to the post LOL.
Yep available at http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/htc_touch_diamond/detail/pay_monthly
To be honest i think this is a cracking buy and will be hard to beat.
Dolphin 35 Tarif includes £5 discount so will only cost you £30 month.
600 miins, unlimited texts and unlimited tinternet.
I have also confirmed that they support hsdpa speeds for internet.
I booked mine yesterday and should recieve tomorrow so I get a new toy to play with for the weekend
by the way the phone is only £39.99
Got to be one of the best contracts available IMHO
Yes its out
I ordered mine from http://www.mobiles.co.uk yesterday some good deals there to.
Better than the orange website itself
Should receive mine tomorrow (Fri)
Looks like Orange have finally caught up with tmobile and the rest of the operators offering "unlimited" internet (subject to fair use policy - silly service providers! unlimited should mean unlimited!)
Also looks like Orange are having a reshuffle so lets hope their customer service and retentions teams are gonna do their best to actually keep hold of customers from now on!
I think i would go back to orange, but at the moment, im happy with tmobile, i luckily got my phone from eXpansys so ive got an HTC Diamond, no awful Orange branding there then!
This forums gonna explode over the next few days as people get their new toys!
See story covered here on coolsmartphone...

Interesting to see that the display card (instore) the magazine and the website all have different standby times for this device... lol
Just placed my order.
Great deal for the price. Given up waiting for T-Mobile (even though I slightly prefer the Compact IV looks) and they'd probably work out more expensive anyway.
Just a shame they won't deliver to my work address, so it'll be at least Tuesday before I get it.
Mmm some good deals on there razoruk1974
i looked at mobiles.co.uk But for me the internet is a big thing and the package is only £30 from orange website as opposed to £40 on mobiles.co.uk
mr_Ray, Did you order from Orange cause I should expect you get this Fri or Sat.
I rang up last night at 8pm, I just recieved my text to say the phone has been despatched and should recieve tomorrow.
Quick or what..
I dont care about the orange branding of the rom as this will be the first thing i will change
along with some of the good speed tweaks we have on here.
Let the Diamond forum Rock..
Does anyone know what the fair use policy is for the theoretical unlimited internet package from Orange? This hasn't been that clever for non T-mobile packages in the past.

The two months is not true at all but 500mb FUP is
I have seen mention of the 500MB fair use policy
for the Panther call plans
also for the offer : Free mobile access to facebook, Bebo, myspace and flirtomatic subject to a 50MB
Have not seen anything that states the fair use policy for unlimited data package on Dolphin.
liamhere - thats is a cracking deal

I bet you can not wait for this to arrive tomorrow - if your in a city then it may still arrive by motorbike otherwise it should be DPD (Parceline)
The good thing about the orange customisationis the Orange logo is on the back cover which can be replaced-unless the have changed the dummy model
Just bought mine from the Orange store in Bristol. Looked like they only had one handset in stock.
£35 / month for 600 minutes, 3000 texts and unlimited internet, plus I get £5.50 per month back when I trade in my old handset, taking it to £29.50 / month.
Currently have a TyTn 1, so looking forwward to using a smaller handset with a better interface. The standard WM interface is pretty awful IMHO.
I was torn between the Diamond and the iPhone, but when the reviews came in saying that it *still* didn't support MMS, I decided to go for the Diamond.
It's charging up on my desk right now!

have you checked the interface yet ?
i am deciding between vodafone and orange (orange reception where I work is not ver good) but will be swayed by who has mucked around with the interface the most.
Orange used to total layer up, but recently their HTC devices have been close to the original in software terms.
Whats your view here after looking at the device ?
If Orange UK uses the same softs as Orange France, the TF3D has been all reskinned (in a better way IMHO), an "analog" clog replaces the nice digital one, no more youtube and google earth but orange TV and Orange navigation, the internet tab is for Orange word, etc.
I sent a screenshot of the clock here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406642 (note that I manage the icon bar using the advanced tool, so it's not in order, and the windows skin is not the default orange one (grey, as for TF3D))
My Orange phone just arrived. I had pre-ordered last week, After loads of transferring. They let me pre-order it. Paying £35 a month 1400 minutes, unlimited Text. Unlimited Net, and insurance and guess what its UNBRANDED!!!!!! IT's GENERIC!!!
CHuFFED !!
When I left Orange i was at least offerd a free Touch Diamond and an Okay 35 quid a month connection with there so called unlimited data package...
But yesterday we moved my mums phone...
The retentions guy basically wanted us to pay 40 quid a month for the contract. And wanted us to pay 150 quid for the phone...
Oh and Unlimited is now 250mb FUP... And he was even being very dodgy as im sure it was 500mb... he simply said "it depends on who you talk to"
I was a bit WTF by his attitude.
His attitude was not friendly by any means if anything it was aggressive insulting and uncaring.
I just found it really odd also that one week i get offerd a free phone a couple of weeks later they want 150 quid for it. Even with the contract. As if being a returning customer means nothing to them...
Anyone else had really bad experiences with them?
Oh and on that day we went to a Tmobile shop and got my mum a Compact IV Just waiting for the pack code to arrive to transfer the number.
In my experience;
Never take the first offer. Take note of all they have to offer, look at other prociders' contracts and then call back. You can usually negotiate something.
Always make sure you get through to Retensions, not Upgrades. Same handset, same contracts, different prices.
Prices do depends on how many 'credits' you rack up during the contract. If you pay minimum line rental and never go over minutes, you don't get much leverage on new phones/contracts.
Personally, I've always gone for 12 month contracts as I can't stand the thought of having one phone for more than a year!
I was on Orange, switched to O2, got the £35/month deal.
No more callers getting put through to my voicemail instead of my phone!
No need to go through Orange to do an upgrade, just visit one of the third party providers (car phone warehouse, Phones4U etc.) and they will upgrade you with a better deal than Orange will offer direct.
I got a free Diamond on my existing Dolphin £25 contract. Just walked into Phones4U and they offered to upgrade with no additional cost. In less than half an hour I had a new phone without having to change contract or number.
Orange!!
I was on contract with Orange for 10 years.... and when I told them I was leaving 'cos £8 a month was ridiculous for 30MB of data, some guy in an Indian call centre just said OK... 'OK'!!! TEN YEARS!
I've moved to vodafone... £30 a month, free Touch Diamond, 250 mins anytime, 150 texts, 500MB data... and polite call centre staff I can actually understand and who know what they're talking about!
I wouldn't touch Orange again if they offered me for free, every new device HTC release in the future! Good bye forever
