Kaiser WiFi connection - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have a problem, my Kaiser connects to my WiFi Router which is a Linksys WRT54GR. And then after 10 seconds or (sometimes 30 seconds) I have no datacom. I am still connected though but no data is being sent or received. If I turn the WiFi off and then on again on my kaiser then I am again able to communicate for about 30 seconds and then it stops again. Does anyone recognise the symptoms ?

I have tested the WiFi Kaiser connection with my LinkSys WAG54GS and gives me no problem, works fine...
Tested with DLink Access Point without problem.
LinkSys with WPA and DLink with WPE...
No problema at all, Kaiser makes better like my last PDA, an Hermes one.
Regards.

Try a different channel on the router.

Wifi is pretty weak compared to my other PDAs, iPaq 6915, Q9000, T830, make sure you put the slider on maxium performance and even then the range is not very good.

That's not the experience I have.
I use a Linksys WRT54GL router with Hyper-WRT firmware.
I've no problems at all.
The connection is stable and fast even with the slider totally to the right (max. battery save).

Well...
I have tryed different channel.
My probblem is still in place when I stand right next to the router and have a full reception
I do not loose the connection it just does not send & receive any data, but the connection is there all right...
Hyper WRT firmware... I once flashed my old (very old) linksys router with one of those things and the router died on me, how safe is it now and do you have any recomendations?

I use max battery as well and the Kaiser performs on my home net (4 Linksys Wireless G APs) just like my 8525 good performance even with fairly low signal. I've streamed Slingbox for several hours straight with no disconnects.

I saw this problem described on another forum and unfortunately, the guy had to return his Kaiser. New one worked flawlessly.

I have had mine connected to a USR & Sweex wifi router and it is perfectly fine for prolonged periods of time, It might be worth hard reseting it and trying the wifi first before doing anything else, if its still doing it then send the handset back.
Russ

Do you have the DHCP server enabled on your router ?
When disabled you have to enter manually an ip address on your TytnII within the same ip range.
Otherwise you can't send and receive data.
Furthermore this looks like a DNS problem.

Vanstra,
I know now that it is a DNS problem... My DHCP is on and now I also set the WiFi on the Kaiser to best performance... I have proper connection now. I did have to reboot my Server as it is the primary DNS in my network. Well so far so good. Strange only that I have 2 laptops one desktop and an XBOX and they all functioned perfectly all the time...

my wag300n reboots during web surfing with kaiser

Hi, is there anyone having this issue using wifi? My linksys wag300n reboots after few minutes of use with kaiser. Linksys customer support doesn't know how to solve the problem.
I tried changing the channel but with no result. It lasts max 5' then the router reboots and the kaiser doesn't connect anymore.
Hi
If your box reboots it is a problem with your router as it is of course a security hole that could allow a denial of service attack. Your router shouldn't reboot no matter what tries to connect to it.
The Kaiser is Wi-Fi approved and has worked with no issues wherever I have tried it, as far as I can see your router isn't, this means it probably lacks the testing and interoperability of other routers that have gone through the testing procedure to get the Wi-Fi logo.
I would check for updated firmware for your router, that may help. Often disabling security and encryption will see things play a lot better together however you don't really want to do that.
You may need to get a new router for it to work reliably
Regards
Phil
The firmware is the latest, and linksys assistance is futile, suggesting channel switching and ssid renaming...
Wireless works flawlessly with a notebook, but with kaiser lasts only few minutes, and of course is NOT kaiser's fault, infact i didn't even bother contacting HTC.
ATM i think that you're right: the only solution is getting another box.
Thanks for your reply
The linksys WAG devices are a royal pain in the a.......
Switch to a better router would be my choice..... It seems unless your paying a squilian bucks for a TRUE cisco device, then Cisco stuff sucks.... However all my Cisco stuff works a treat (for the most part).
If you do go searching out a new router, and like to flash roms on more than just your phone, check out these routers at this link
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices
it's a free linux-based system that you can flash on various routers that adds tons of functionality to the device. i have the standard install of dd-wrt on a wrt54g v2 linksys router, and it works flawlessly.

Wi-Fi connects but NO data transfer

Hi,
I have just got the Diamond and I have two main problem.
1) Although I have connected the Diamond to my Home wireless network, there is no data transfer. Opera can not open pages, Youtube can not start even I can not update weather?
2) When I connect the Diamond to the Laptop / PC, all PC's and Laptops connected to my home network (wireless) drop from the connection and never connect again?
Thank you for your kind help...
I have same problem with my Diamond.
1) go to: startmenu->settings->connections->Wi-Fi->networkcard/adapter->and make sure that it says "my networkcard/adapter connects to internet"Also at the same tab open IEEE 802.11b/g Compitable Wi-Fi Adapter and try to a static ip matching the one your pc uses. (not sure about it since i can't recreate the problem atm..)
2) Try the thing I suggested in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417664 (plz use search next time)

Thanks for your reply, but both of solutions do not work for me...
Any other suggestion?
Thanks for your help..
Try turning on wifi, then go in LAN WIRELESS and change in "improved performance"
All of this do not work for me too...
Go to Wireless LAN settings and there to power mode and set yo best battery.... that worked for me.
in "settings => connections => WiFi" is "Connected". In "Wireless Lan" there is Connected too... In log on my router there is MAC adress of Diamond as associated and authorized. All seems OK. But on Diamond do not work any internet connection (Weather, web, etc...). With Active Sync works fine. Laptop with the same settings works fine. But Diamond with WiFi... no way :-(
Any other suggestions?
Same problem after i made ROM update from 1.7... to 1.93. before works fine. no other software is istalled.
Been having an issue with connecting to my wireless network also for the last week. My phone is from orange in the UK. My wireless router is an Dlink 614+ on Virgin cable broadband.
The Diamond would connect intermittantly but then say 'not avaiable' after a period of time, or when trying to reconnect after diasbling/enabling wi-fi in the comms manager. Also, after restarting my router the device would connect for a while but not seem to 'hold' it's connection.
When the device was 'connected' I could not get opera/youtube to load a page, even though I could see the diamond in my router's log showing it connected with a leased ip address. What made it so annoying was that every other wireless mobile device/laptop I have owned has connected without any problem at all, leading me to beleive there was a problem with the phone. Again, this was rather frustrating as the phone was detecting avaliable networks but just not 'holding' the connection nor 'using' the connection in opera/explorer etc.
After searching on xda-developers and other forums for a possible known issue, I tried all the various suggestions including;
i/ increasing to best performance under power mode in Wireless LAN settings
ii/ Hard reset of router (even though other wireless devices were connected fine)
iii/ trying static rather than dynamic ip for my diamond in router settings
iv/ disabling any security/encryption on my router
v/ entering DNS settings in manually into my diamond
vi/ changing 'connect to' under wi-fi neteorks to 'Work' rather than 'the internet'
vii/ tried various roms
and other suggestions I had read about - all which didn't make a difference!
I was about to send the diamond back to Orange (here in the UK) but decided to give it one last go and change my router. I bought a Netgear WGT624 for 25 quid from PC today world and my diamond connected
straight away without an issue, and opera/youtube/messager all connected straight away to the internet. I have not lost connection once. So thats how I resolved it - obviously my device did not like 802.11b (on the original dlink router) even though all previous smartphones have connected fine and the diamond's wireless adapter is labelled b/g.
Hope that stops anyone wasting a week like I did, I would try it out on another router before making any decisions because the chip in the diamond seems a lot more picky to what it connects to than anything I've used in the past!
cheers
Linksys WAG54 is OK, Freebox is not perfect
It really seems to depend on the WiFi router.
I've had probems with my French Freebox (my ISP's ADSL+wifi router) using WPA2 AES. It would work fine, for half an hour maybe, then it would stop. It says it's connected but there is no data transfer. You can switch WLAN off and on, soft reset the phone... nothing will do. Then it will work again later on.
I downgraded encryption to TKIP and i experienced the same problem.
But then I've tried my old Linksys WAG54G router, using the exact same encryption protocol and key and it works perfectly (for hours)!
I've also tested free access (Paris public Wifi, Mc Donald's...) and they work fine.
As my ISP wifi box does not let me have a look at all the settings (beacon time, etc.) it is very difficult to tell what makes it not-so-compatible with my Diamond... But there must be something.

Can't connect my N1 with Linksys router

Hello
My N1 can connect easily to all kind of wifi routers and modems without problem but not with my fitness club's one, they have a Linksys N160.
My N1 can detect the signal, enter the password but then it's stucked with the message ''getting ip...''
Where is the problem? is it a know hardware or software compatibility stuff?
Sometimes rebooting the wifi router helps. Also make sure that when the guy over at your fitness club reboots the router you don't have the wifi of the club saved. delete the saved wifi profile, reboot the wifi router and then try. Cheers.
Already tried it several times. I saw that OS4 of iphone/ipod have the same problem with router enabling Wireless-N, I will ask him to limit the router to B/G
I also had similar problem with Linksys WAG54G2 (at latest firmware). Then I changed to much cheaper adsl router, TP-LINK WD-W8960N and no more connection problem.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I had problems using my Nexus One on my SMC Barricade 802.11b/g/n router when 802.11n was enabled. Turned it off; problems were gone. I don't think that works well yet, though some people have said otherwise. Could be a router-specific issue.
Ok so it's a WAG160N to be specific.
He tried to use mixed B/G instead of mixed (which would imply N too) but it still stuck at getting ip...
I told him to throw this router in the garbage because anyway SE and HP mobiles can't connect too,but he said he would do it but his boss will never accept to pay a penny more
My parents had a router that did exactly the same, my phone got stuck on Obtaining IP, whilst the missus 5800 connected and broswed just fine.
It was a crappy old thing and they replaced it the other week, now I can connect and browse just fine.
I also use a linksys WAG160N.
bought a nexus one, could not for the life of me get an internet connection.
turns out dns on router is poofed, so i just set DNS from my isp manually on the nexus one together with a static ip and booya interent at full 802.11n speeds.
sometimes its the simple things.
This sounds similar to when I set my router to channel 13 or whatever the max was on it. My N1 would only sometimes get a connection, but would eventually drop it and stay off. Solved it by selecting a lower channel (WifiAnalyzer suggesten channel 1 as the best alternative to channel max) on the AP.
I can see that in CM6 nightly that I have since started using I can choose regulatory domain, and thereby open up channels previously blocked. If you can't change anything on the AP this might help you solve the problem on your end.
So suggestions if none of the posts above me provide a solution is to run WifiAnalyzer and see how the channel-graph looks.

My Razr i makes WiFi drop/crash

Hi folks !
Recently I started to experience some troubles using my WiFis connections. The problem is simple, the connection drops, the WiFi network disappears from all the devices, and a few seconds later it comes back.
At first I thought it was a problem with the router of my work. But then I started to experience the same things at home. Then I decided to test the WiFi without connecting my Razr i to it and it worked like a charm. Now, as soon as I connect my Razr i to a WiFi, it crashes a few seconds/minutes later and keep doing it until I disconnect my phone from the WiFi.
Did someone experience the same thing ? Have you any idea for solving the problem ?
Thanks anyway.
PS : I only use 5Ghz WiFis. I'll try with 2.4 soon but the 5Ghz compatibility was one of the reasons why I bought this phone...
We have also issues with our WLAN at home, which is sometimes (but not always) very unstable in connection with a Samsung 5 Laptop (regular reboots shortly after activating the laptop Wifi).
I did not experience this problem yet with my Razr i, but I will keep it in mind over the next days (we have a complex setup with several computers, phones and Android entities based around a Fritzbox 7390, so error identification and validation takes very long and is not finished yet).
BTW - if you look for help here, please specify your WLAN router in detail as well as your provider and general IT-setup.

Well ! Thanks for the reply.
My router that provides the two WiFis is a Cisco Linksys WRT61N.
My setup is kinda complex but works well. Got another router provided by my ISP, which is the DHCP server. This router is connected to a port of the WRT61N switch. Not to the internet port. Every connection that enters in the ISP router goes to the Linksys, and then is NATed by it. I don't think those informations are very relevant but anyway here they are. That's a complex setup but it works well (needed to do that because I have cable connection, and the cable modem/router have very limited configuration).
The devices that use my two WiFi are :
2.4Ghz : My Razr i right now.
5Ghz : Two iPads, and the HTC 8X of my girlfriend.
I made some other tests, one the Razr i there is an option for switching on or off a kind of network frequency. So instead of both enabled, I enabled only the 2.4Ghz WiFi frequency and connected my phone to my 2.4Ghz WiFi. No problems detected. Stable connection. Right now I'm at work, and everything works well in 2.4Ghz. So there is clearly a problem with the 5Ghz frequency on my Razr i.
Anyway, during those tests, I discovered something very interesting. My battery life had a huge improvement with the desactivation of the 5Ghz WiFi frequency.
Thanks for the details - especially on the 2.4/5 GHz topic.
I am also at work right now, but will check it at home and keep you posted.
WPA2
I had the same problem, I think it was triggered everytime the phone went to "sleep". It was changing the security encryption that fixed it for me. I can't remember what i had on the router as default, and I'm not at home right now to check what I'm running, but I believe it's WPA2. After the change, I had no trouble whatsoever. Hope this helps, good luck!
EDIT: nevermind what i said, i just logged into my router and remembered it wasnt the encryption type settings, but rather the wifi standard used, it used to be 802.11 b+n+g, and now i got it sitting at 802.11 b+g, which equals to 2.4 GHz. Meaning the razr has apparently a problem with the 5 GHz spectrum..
I too have a RAZRi which is connected by wi-fi at home to a Fritz!Box 7390. I noticed that when the RAZRi went into sleep mode with wi-fi connected (keep wi-fi on setting) it would have lost any internet connection on waking, requiring a disconnection/reconnection to reset. More annoyingly there was also a loss of connection (IP address) at laptops also connected to the router by w-fi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections, which needed a reboot of either the PC or the router to re-establish a connection. The router GUI would show them all as remaining connected.
By using the manual setting on the router to restrict 2.4GHz connections to b+g (not b+g+n), it looks so far as though both problems are avoided, and the RAZRi can be set to use either the available 2.4GHz or 5GHz (a+n) connection on the Fritz! successfully without problems. EDIT big problem is though that disabling "n" on 2.4GHz seems to cause wi-fi throughputs to crash by more than 50% on both frequencies (which for me negates the benefit of having VDSL) - they recover if I re-enable, but then the lockups start if the phone is connected. A hobsons choice.
Thanks guys.

Anyone getting wifi issues? I stay connected but can't pass any traffic

I have been having issues where i am connected to the wifi but the device stops passing any traffic. I have fing installed and i can't ping any other devices on my network. I know its just my phone because i have my work phone and tablet connected to the wifi and they still work fine browsing webpages, watching movies etc while the droid turbo can no longer communicate with the local lan or out to the internet. If i switch the wifi off then on again it will reconnect and then work normally. I can then ping devices on the local lan and access pages on the internet. This has happened a number of times now since i got the device.
Edit: I just updated the phone and still get the issue. I have a cisco WAP at home, we have cisco WAP's at work which i will test tomorrow. If this thing still has issues i am just going to swap it out for a Note 4.
Check this out:

I've been seeing issues with Cisco wlans too.

so it looks like it works good at work, something with my home cisco ap and this phone as all other devices at home work ok.

Yeah this phone does not seem to like my router for some reason. Keep in mind I'm not a networking expert, but I've tried every combination of options and settings every which way from Sunday and I just can't get the thing to work. When I do connect the phone to my wifi it kills the the connection on every device in the house. At first I though it was just a wireless thing, but even the downstairs computer which is plugged in directly to the router doesn't work. Then as soon as I disconnect the phone every device works again. I thought maybe there was too many devices, so I disconnected all but the downstairs computer, still had the issue when I connected the Turbo. I've tried just turning off the WPA2 and just having an open system, I've tried connecting the phone using a WPS pin (This one actually worked for a good 5 minutes before crapping out and hasn't worked since). On the advanced options of the phone I tried an automatic IP as opposed to the default DHCP setting (This also worked for a good 5 minutes before not working ever again). I've tried limiting it to just one frequency band. I have tried so many different things and I just cannot make this phone work on my router. And I know it's my router because the phone works fine at work.
phone: Droid Turbo
Router : Asus rt-ac66r
yup within ten minutes of getting home, the device no longer passes traffic. My work S5 still works fine at home and so does my samsung tablet. The device worked on wifi all day at work on our enterprise wpa2 network no issues. I tried doing static ip at home, changing to 2.4 ghz, trying new ssid. Not sure what else to do with this thing...
Not just you
I posted a comment on Motorola's forum where people are discussing their wifi issues... And my work around. I currently beleive its a software issue and can be fixed via update. Also, today I found (it appears) that the longer the phone goes without a reboot, the shorter amount of the it appears to go with out needing the wifi card reset.
https://forums.motorola.com/comment/829632
My work around fix...
First, over night my wifes phone now behaves just like mine. It now connects to wifi and after sometime passes it no longer passes data (but stays connected). I needed a way to auto disable/enable the card... I installed Tasker. I have it set to check every 15 minutes, if the phone is connected to WiFi, to disable then enable the WiFi card. I use WifiMatic to enable the wifi card when the phone is connected to the cellular tower that is near my house. (Doing this by GPS uses more battery power...) Using Tasker with the rule to verify its connected to wifi first helps not enabling wifi if its nit needed and lets WifiMatic enable/disable it as needed.
