I installed the Palm thread app ripped from WM6 device board and everything works except sending MMS I keep getting out of memory errors. I made sure that the pic is under 300k but as soon as I hit Send I get the message. I'm with cingular/at&t. I have searched regarding this but I noticed that for some people it works fine and other not so its hit or miss. But I wanted to know if anyone else has tried to use this on there kaiser.
Thanks
i tried it and no, you cant send any MMS's (I tried some of the other varients found elsewhere on this forum but none work better). In fact I found that this app had knock on problems all over my TYTN II and slowed down the machine considerably. Since this isnt an app you can just remove I had to do a hard reset.
Thanks for the reply hopefully someone figures out a fix for the slowness and mms not working on the tytn II
No one else has tried Palm threading app on there Keiser yet? and has mms working with AT&T??
I too tried it on my Kaiser and could not get the mms to work no matter what size file I tried, it would give me the memory error. I was able to uninstall it through the add/remove programs though and not have to do a hard reset.

I am experiencing the same. Luckily I don't use MMS very much so if I absolutely need it I can Uninstall Threaded SMS and fetch the incoming MMS then re-install threaded sms. I had same issue with Cingular 8525..Too bad, this is the best threaded sms app out there to me. I can't understand why they haven't built a threaded sms app that comes pre-installed. So basic. Everyone uses SMS. What are they thinking?
any updates on this one yet? I miss my threaded SMS/MMS
**** it doesnt work for me either
****ing BS...please shogun mark, HELP!!!
i wanna stress how important this app is to me.....i was sooo ****ing excited to go from 8525 to kaiser. this actually almost makes me wanna go back.... even though the kaiser is soooooo much sweeter. im beggiing someone to please please work on a fix for this!! please

Which version of Palm threading app are you using?? I have tried to setup the correct settings for the ATT mms part and still as soon as I try to send a mms i get the "out of memory error"
if anyone gets it to work they are brilliant...i have the shogunmark version from windows mobile 6
ttttttttttttt
It is a known bug in the app. Just be thankful we have what we have. To better understand, go here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=621
Works for me. The Shogun version thats circulated around doesnt work. You need the full version. Do a search and you might find it. THe problems are the same on most WM6 devices, and not just the Kaiser.
P.S. Some f-in patience might make people actually want to help you. 6 posts, half dropping F bombs doesn't endear you to the community.
Temporary Fix
Well this is what I do to have palm threading and MMS working on my Tilt witch is something I have asked before but haven't gotten an answer but this is my crazy hack or whatever you want to call it.
My theory was well since the MMS portion for Palm threading is out of the question regarding a fix from what I have been reading about. I asked before If after you install palm threading is there away to enable again the default MMS application that came with the phone like that giving you the option to use palm threading for Txt's and sending MMS' to be sent by the default application witch i like better.
I have the files but I dont know where to upload them too but if someone can post them up I will send it to them.
Basically I managed to get me the cab installation of Arcsoft MMS composer ver 4.0.21.28 .. I noticed that tilt has a new version 4.0.3.?? anyways so basically this is what I did..
1) install Palm threading application - reboot device
2) Install Arcsoft MMS application - reboot Device
3) Install EnableMMS.cab - Reboot
4) Re-apply ATT MMS cab configuration so that MMS gets configured
Now when I press on the email key I get the option to compose a MMS and I can receive them fine..
Like i said this is something I just tried for the heck of it and it worked but I dont guaranteed it will work for everyone. I have tried this on the Tytn II and now I just received my Tilt and it works good.
If there was a way to just re-enable the MMS portion I think there wouldnt need to install the slightly older version of arcsoft composer viewer but I havent able to figure it out..
PS. I tried uploading the zip files but it keeps telling upload of file failed..
Can you e-mail me those files, please.
Hi, is someone able to upload these files somewhere?......thanks in advance
ok here they are.. Let me know if they work for you
http://rapidshare.com/files/61245824/MMSsetup.zip
Thanks doug0365, i will have to do a full backup first on my kaiser before i install the files......its missing the threadersms.cab though....but thats ok i found the file in the kaiser forum.......will report back later today of the outcome.....thanks again.
I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...
Hello folks, i have searched these forums and cant seem to find the answer i am looking for regarding xt9 and the kaiser.
I have a kaiser and have installed WM6.1 duttys march04 rom and 1.64.08.21 radio, with the HTC touch keyboard and keypad CAB.
The keyboard/keypad work excellently when using the device with one hand, and xt9 seems to pick up alot of words
BUT
when i am typing long texts/emails, and using the slide out hardware keyboard,
xt9 deletes characters and corrects words when i dont want it to, even when i click the xt9 symbol to turn it off, or even change it to a different input like Keyboard or Transcriber. very annoying/useless.
please help!!
thanks in advance
mcall_r
nobody got this same issue?
You might be looking for a way to disable xt9 then.
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...w&q=Disable+XT9&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
no i dont want to disable xt9 totally i only want to disable it for the hardware keyboard, as it works great for the "touch" keyboard/keypad, and i hate using abc input.
Is this possible?
use the xda google search try these to search these words: Xt9 and hardware keyboard.
look at the fifth link. someone had the exact same problem as you and the solution was given. it was dutty's disable xt9

that disbale uutility will screw up your keypad even worse. When it installs, it wipes out the image files used for the xt9 and then you won't be able to uninstall the touch keyboard/pad at all. I would recommend not using the disable utility.
Keep in mind that the Touch keyboad/pad was designed for the HTC Touch device, which doesn't have a slide out keyboard. Therefore the code was never meant to run on the Tilt, at least perfectly. I've tried every variation of the touch keyboad and they all don't work well for one reason or another....
i see.... well thanks anyway.
does anyone know of a GOOD alternative to the touch keypad app?
ive tried alot of others such as
FingerFriendlyFriends
PCMKeyboard
Phone Pad
Touchpal
but none of them are as good/easy to use.
Cheers

yes please elaborate
"it" being the disable xt9, given that I have the touch keyboard installed.
it may be that you are using the touch keyboard that's already installed as part of the rom, in that case the disable utility probably works. I was using a cab based install of the touch keyboard, one that worked with my tilt fine except for the lost of auto-correct and no word suggestion anymore. When I installed the disable xt9 utlity, it wiped out the images used within the keyboard but still left xt9 installed but in a non-useable way. Then I had to manually remove everything, both the keyboard and the disable util manually because neither would uninstall now....
This is a cab that i used to ALWAYS use on my Kaiser to speed up the keyboard response of the device. Just tried it on my Fuze running ROMEOS and it definitely showed signs of improvement.
Install the CAB and soft-reset. Post your findings to this thread.
Makes this change:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\compime.dll
Layout Text=COMP IME
To Turn on again
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\eT9Ime.dll
Layout Text=eT9 IME
Hi, I've tried this registry hack on TouchHD with production firmware, and it certainly does disable XT9 and re-enable the native WM predictive text, *BUT* it makes my TouchHD slow to a crawl. The phone still works but extremely slow (like 2-3 second reponse delay) and also gets extremely hot behind the CPU. It's as though there is still some process in the background desperately making unanswered function calls to XT9. I've had to re-enable XT9 just to make my TouchHD responsive.
Can anyone point me to a CPU/process tool so I could see what it is taking up all those CPU cycles and generating all that heat when XT9 is disabled?
You tried that hack on the Touch HD? Does that even have a hardware keyboard? I don't think that it was supposed to work with that phone. (Maybe?)
yeah.. this would have no effect on sip inputs...
Well there is one problem i got is that when i install this tweak i cant type æøå on the hw keyboard:/ (norwegian keyboard) so is there away to use this tweak with norwegian keyboard support?
Still searching as well
I am also still searching for a way to get rid of the whole friggin' black et9 input bar, but keep my hardware keyboard to be responsive to the sym key, and the function key for typing euro sign and pound sign.
I hate the black input bar, especially since after you type first name in a text message address bar, and press space for a second name, it fills ion a name that's highlighted at the moment.
That's just so annoying...
Anyone any clue on how to deactivate et9, but keep the hardware keyboard fully functional?

it is posted in the Raphael Software section. do you now think it's working?
I think it wirked.
I have jsut installed it on my kaiser and it seems to work very well, But i am also old school and running solace v1, works great thank you! no more.. t hanky ou...lol
just pade the registry change...
seems to be working well... barely any lag at all...
i've made this change VVV as well in hopes to fix this problem... it also helped a little
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
“InitialDelay”=dword: dec 775
“RepeatRate”=dword: dec 23
with this one tho seems a lot better.
After i uninstalled this "disable xT9" my manilla sms meny dissapeared... Anyone knows how to restore it?
this actually got my sip full qwerty keyboard stuck in number mode...
i just changed it back to et9ime.dll and it's back to normal...
too bad... seemed to work well for the hard keyboard.
Works well for me on my HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks heaps ... it's been bugging me for a while.

Works great for me, I've been looking for something like this! Thank you very much!
just a lil warning...
Be careful installing this on touch pros/fuzes. It has been known to get the on screen keyboard stuck on numeric mode. Some ppl have gone upto a week or two without the problem showing up. Just a heads up.
just a lil warning...
Unfortunatley, I did not read this post prior to installing the xt9 disable software on my Fuze. I really enjoyed everything, such as the older style auto correct, and the list of suggested words. Now that juicy "Full QWERTY" is stuck in number mode. Is there a fix for this? Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick
I did the reg change to get the win mob predictive text... which worked until I did a soft reset. After that, my FULL QWERTY is also stuck in number mode.
Changed the reg back to original, and I got back my FULL QWERTY. No need to soft reset.
this helped me! HTC messaging with hardware keyboard on xperia is much faster now... but not windows messaging...
but I found this, which helped out with that too...

I know of this option and have tried it. It doesn't work as touchwiz ignores it. There is a similar option for samsung which once came up during my search but can't find it anymore. Most probably both needs to be tweaked.
Aside from the reg tweak posted already you have to do this also
Change:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext]
"DLL"="mms.dll"
to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext]
"DLL"="htmlnote.dll"

Thanks but have you tried it ? And yr experience? I think on this and other sites it is said by those who have done it that the sms process becomes extremely slow and there are additional problems as well.
This registry tweak worked for me, but I don't use touchwiz. However, if you want threaded sms but don't mind slower response, you can use the link message.lnk which points to sms-mms.exe instead of the normal tmail.exe

Problem is, if u do not use touchwiz & hv w6.1, u might throw away this phone as, wm6.1 was just not meant for touch screen. The default wm sms/mail program is ver difficult with fingers. Also there is the white on black screen of samsung and the larger font. I need to consider these issues and have been repeated going back to touchwiz

Touchwiz, sucks, but the phone is great. So, your statement is flawed.
Try other UI's instead, there are many free and more customisable ones, or other sms apps.

If the software is always disturbing you and cannot be totally discarded then its not a perfect situation.
Re: alternate solutions, I am still looking for one under wm6.1 as 6.5 is not offered in my country. Unfortunately, there are many ideas but little for wm6.1 anywhere. So cannot call it a satisfactory situation.
Touchwiz for all its fault offer good finger based usage under wm6.1 and as I said it really like the black skin.
So is there any solution which satisfies the above requirements under wm6.1 or should I forget it and wait for 6.5 whenever that happens.
I am in the same boat.
I can upgrade to 6.5 but don't want to.
I have 6.1 and actually like Touch Wiz (more so than tf3d on my htc touch pro).
