Hey Guys,
so i bought my phone in december online and it worked great. I love the phone and think its an unbelievable investment. But just last week, I tried to plug in my mini-usb upside down and I cracked the small chip that the miniusb plugs into.
The phone does not charge, and seems pretty much ruined. I tested alternate batteries and went to the at&t store and they said that because its cracked it wont charge.
Does anyone know of any reasonably priced repair centers? Or has anyone ever had experience just shipping it back to them and getting a new one?
I called them and said it would cost $300 to repair, cost me $250 to buy....
Thanks a lot,
Greg
Search -- there's a place in the US that will repair it for about $80
The same thing happend to my tilt. I would recomend you try charging it using the adapter. It seems the adapter aligns the pins on the mini USB port.
Hope this helps.
There is always the option of getting a second batter and a cradle to charge it I have one just so i can take the spare battery on the go
Here is a good example of what to look for
Its not a fixed USB port but this should get you back in business. Also, If you have Hard-SPL , you dont need the USB port to flash or mod another rom. Just use the Micro-SD card. Its faster and easier anyway
Hope this helps
Excellent repair work from: www.ppctechs.com
I've had two tilts repaired.
Back in September I found my USB cable no longer fits snugly and will fall out of the Hero's mini USB port unless I position the phone on an angle. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so were you able to fix it? I don't feel like sending it in for repairs, and as much as I'd like to upgrade there doesn't seem to be any new phones I'm set on until Q1 2011.
Any help?
yes, this has happened to me... the problem is with the 'cheap' cable youre using... get another one (cable)... the jack on the phone is fine... gl, h.
I found a random mini USB cable and it seems to fit much better but not perfect. I plan on selling my phone back to best buy when a new phone I want comes around so I'll need a new cable, luckily I found an OEM replacement for cheap online.
Hello I am from the UK, I got the M8 at a great deal and it came today. However there is a problem with the HTC charger not being suitable for UK plugs, i.e they dont fit. However I got given an adapter for it unbranded, as a white plug with a USB slot for the HTC USB cable.
Now my worry is, from my knowledge you should only use chargers of the same brand as other chargers can do damage over time. Using the white plug given, it is not HTC branded, although the cable is still from HTC. But is this bad for my phone? That am not using a HTC branded charger? I want to charge it before it is powered on but I also don't want to use a dodgy charger.
Hard to say. If its some off-brand, cheap charger, it can have some defect that can conceivably damage the phone.
But if its decent quality, I interchange my MicroUSB chargers all the time (Samsung, HTC, etc.). Maybe technically not the best thing to do. But I haven't noticed any ill effects; and I'm willing to accept the consequences on the off chance something happens.
Worth buying the original IMHO.

Mine was shipped from Hong Kong so came with an English plug but I currently live in Australia. It shipped with a UK to AUS adaptor and this has been working fine. I think that's the cheaper option then buying a whole new charger.

I only say this because I did this.. i got my HTC ONE M8 and thought the plug didnt fit but the earth prong expanded (i havent had a new phone since htc one x .. apparently this is the new design on phones as my friend with S5 laughed at me when i said the plug confused me for a while lol)
well some cheap non brand chargers can harm your device battery. there are a lot of complains like this. so if you even want to change your charger i recommend buying the original HTC charger or same quality charger of other brands.
Greetings, I'm recently bought a used Motherboard around $90 bucks at ebay from China and shipped to Malaysia, for Samsung Note 5, but I made a horrible mistake during the disassembling process, that I tear out the signal flex cable of note 5 with the chip stucked inside (causing me unable to link the cable to the recently bought motherboard), so now I moved out both signal flex cable from the phone and hoping for motherboard and screen able to boot. However, the phone is not responding still though I replace the dead motherboard with the used motherboard. Is the signal flex capable really crucial for the phone booting? I hope I could get some advice from this platform.
Note that: I charged the phone with fully functional battery to test booting, and another attempt without battery but connecting to charger. But none of it gives me positive feedbacks.. Could this be a fake motherboard as well? or it just need signal flex cable to be connected for booting?
Thank You for any replies!
