I'm not sure exactly what's causing this but, it seems that all the files get an extra . at the end. The result is that everytime I want to sync, it'll want to kill all the files and reupload everything.
Anyone else try doing this? I haven't experimented much yet because it took a really long time to transfer everything (almost 4gb), most of the files which were also transcoded, and I'd rather not do it again.
It could be a problem with either the htc audio player or the windows media player doing it?
I'd like to keep using winamp because I have a good system set up. Songs with a 0 rating don't get synced to anything. 1+ to my ipod. And 4+ to my phone.
is the winamp service still in beta? i tried it a while back and didnt get too deep. let me know your results when you get done messing around. I am looking for a good setup to stream my mp3s from my pc.
I must have been a bit vague. I wasn't trying to stream mp3s to my phone through winamp. I was trying to sync part of my media library to it.
oh, well i dont have this problem. files get copied fine.
BUT theyre copied to the device. is it possible to copy them to the storage card?

Alright, simply put: I want to use my Tilt to replace my old MP3 player.
I installed PocketPlayer and got an 8 gig MicroSD card. Filled the card about half-full with music, and plugged it in.
This is the weird thing. The first time I put it in, PocketPlayer recognizes all the files (1200 or so), and they play without issue.
The problem is, if I exit the program and try again later, only about 60 files are still in the library.
When I check the card with File Explorer, I only see those files. If I take the card out and open it on my PC, everything's still in there.
So my question is, why is it that my Tilt isn't able to keep all these files available to me?
Any suggestions or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
i would try not to place all the files in 1 dir but put them in sub dirs if you dont already to see if it makes a difference
never had the issue myself but my lib is a tree struct with artist->album->tracks
hmm, I personally use media player so i have my db or artists/geners/albums etc
My card is 4gb with a boat load of songs on it, have you tried using a diffrent player to confirm its not pocket thats not causing the problem ?
do the files disapear from you another(total commander/etc) file explorer within windows mobile as well ?
um my 2c's
I have 1.4G of music on mine, in appropriate directories, and it's okay with Pocket Player.
However, I find that Pocket Player uses a lot of battery playing them. I don't know if it's because I have them in ogg format or what, but the Tilt gets quite warm when playing for a while and the battery drop is pretty high, although I haven't actually measured it yet. I should do that tomorrow.
I haven't had any problems w/ TCPMP & my 8 gb card. I have all my music in storage card\my music\'artist names', and all the playlist files saved in my music
the htc audio manager is good no problems when using it with 8gb card. but the repeat function doesnt work does anyone have the same problem???
I use Mortplayer (Freeware) which is better than any commercial app out there. I have lots of MP3's on my 8gb card and always reads my library. It can also display album art. It also has presets and extra Bass etc etc. Try it out.
Does your Tilt go boooom?
Okay, re-organizing the music into directories worked.
Now I'm faced with the problem of getting an effective way to listen to it.
I have a good set of headphones, but the USB-headphone adapter is another story.
I don't like the fact that the adapters make it so that the microphone doesn't work. What's the best solution for an adapter? Or should I just give up and go Bluetooth?

I personally like the Motorola S9 bluetooth headset. It all depends on the style you like but they sound pretty good. For bluetooth, it also depends on how much you'll be listening to it between charges.
I use the Plantronics convertible headset. Without the earbud it you can listen or make calls like a standard bluetooth. With the earbud you get stereo sound. The fit is dependant on your ears, though. They give you several options, including isolating buds, but you have to find what fits your ear best. Sound is great, and the bud make stereo convenient. I keep the bud in my pocket, so it is always available.
I use the latest Pocketplayer without a proble and like that the new version supports bluetooth control button like next song and play/pause. I still use TCMP to play my videos and with those two you cant go worng.
Is there a way to send the sound coming from one's soundcard over wifi to a Dream phone?
Note: NOT to stream music or radio or video, there are lots of apps for that.

What are you trying to do then.
well, i dont know about transferring the sound coming out of the soundcard, but you can setup a samba share and then use Estrongs File Explorer to connect to it and you can play your music from your pc on your phone, but honestly you didnt give alot of in-depth info about what youre trying to do, so i dont know if thats what you want. I mean if you want to hear it in both places at once then thats not the way, but if you just wanna listen to music from your pc then its good.
You should always leave AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE for people when you post looking for help, that way people dont have to GUESS how to help you.
So like i said, if you just wanna listen to music without keeping it on your phone, get Estrongs (free in market) and setup a samba share (Windows Share) and connect to it and play away...
Please reply back with more in-depth info about what it is you're trying to accomplish, and maybe youll have a better chance at getting some decent help...as it stands your request is rather vague and your chances of getting a decent answer are slim so just let us know EXACTLY what it is you're trying to do and see if that gets you anywhere....hope this helps...

Well the question sums it up pretty well and it's fairly simple, I want to hear what my PC's is playing through the phone speaker or headset, eg if it's playing from a tuner card I want to 'pipe' the sound to the phone
You're going to need a compatible sound server running on the phone.
Look at pulseaudio.
Note: this is not going to be a simple project -- you need to get the pulseaudio server running on android. That means coding, compiling, etc.
Once pulseaudio server is running on the android phone, it is trivial to set the pulseaudio client on your computer to use the android phone pulseaudio server as its default output.
Good luck.
Bluetooth?
Not sure but is there a way to turn your phone into bluetooth headphones? That would probably be easier... Dunno.. Just putting it out there... If the phone supports it, programs like BlueSoleil (for pc) can pipe out all sounds over bluetooth.
do you have a wireless router? If so, you can use an app called Gmote. From there you can play music that's on your computer through your phone speaker. Also, you can use your phone to select music and have it stream through your computer. Finally, it also acts as a wireless mouse with your touch screen and you can use it to navigate instead of using your mouse if you are across the room. It's pretty convenient. I use it all the time.
I have Gmote and it's amazing, but one can only play files, I don't see a way to play the sound from the tunercard for example. Anyway not serious was just wondering if it were possible.
So, Ive looked around the internet, and this forum, and cant seem to find an easy way to stream video from my home computer to my phone. I can use gmote when Im at home, and thats neat and all, but it would be nice to not have to download everything to my phone. I know Iphone has a few apps for that, are there any decent ones for android?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Are you talking about a different app you could you at home over wifi? Or remotely over 3G? I use Allshare at home and it works well.
Oh sorry, I mean when Im out and about over 3g or wifi from another source. Ive used allshare and Gmote and they both work wonderfully when Im home. But as for when Im out and about, I havent heard of anything reliable.
Why not give Winamp Remote a try? I used to use that on my old iPhone 3G. You run a server-app on your PC, select which directories to share (video/audio), and access these directories from your phone via a login that you setup. On the iP3G, access was established through a normal browser.
Interesting. I tried something like that today, by using a different server type program and a certain video player, but it gave me a lot of errors and the videos had a lot of trouble playing (well, sound but no video, at the most). Not just HD movies either, movies that play just fine from my SD card wouldnt play (just to test it out). I wonder if this program would have those same problems? It sounds almost identical is why I say
Well, audio worked for me without a hitch. The UI was alright, and synchronicity was superb. Video worked well for me too, but I must admit that I didn't use this feature so much because iPhones were/are really finicky with resolutions and file-types. I was forced to pre-convert every video I intended to stream beforehand to an appropriate format and reso', and store two copies of everything on my HDisk: the original high-quality copy for desktop-viewing, and another for iPhone streaming... but that's just Crapple, right? Android is much more flexible when it comes to video-containers (among other things), so I see no potential problems for you—especially if you're using videos that play back fine on stock if stored locally (on your phone). Why don't you give Winamp Remote a shot, and report your findings...? It shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes to setup.
That actually makes perfect sense, well, I think Im going to call it a night tonight. but by thursday or friday I will get on that and report my findings!! thank you very much for the help and I will get back to you as soon as I get the chance. Oh college life lol.
Sure man, no proll'em. I hear you
Try using a program called orb. Works wonders for me!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
Dude, Orb is Winamp Remote! Hahaha...
"Vlc stream & convert “from the market (freeware is doing the job - but the $4 are worth it for the Pro version)
Quality wise is the best.
You need to do some work on your router at home to forward 2 ports.
This one is the best so far.
Hello, dear people who happen upon this thread,
I just bought a Sony Xperia Z, I used to have a GS3. On both of these phones I seem to have trouble with the playlists.
I created some playlists with foobar2k (format .m3u). In most of these playlists, there are songs with Japanese tags. I put the playlists on my phone, but strangely enough only the songs without a Japanese title tag get displayed. I can find the songs on the phone, they are just not in the playlist.
I first thought it was because the GS3 doesn't support Japanese, but I'm having the exact same problem on my Xperia Z. It works fine if I add them manually on the phone itself, but I'm kiiiiinda reluctant to add 3000+ songs to playlists manually.
Would anyone know what the problem could be? Is it the phone or is it foobar?
Thank you for taking a look at my silly problem, any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I tried transferring the tracks via USB, but in the end it took over 2 hours and at about 2/3rd through it said there was an error in the operation, saying the device didn't respond anymore. Phone works fine though.
I took a look at the tracks that were already transferred, but still no tracks with Japanese title tags in the playlists, even though they are on the phone. I'm really at my wit's end here.
I installed Media Go today, and I managed to transfer one of the playlists without problems (i.e. the Japanese songs are there and are displayed on the phone). When I try to transfer the other ones to the phone I get an error message: "Due to device limitations with international characters in playlists, the track 'music\03 歴代の桜師.mp3' was removed from playlist '狐の工作室' after transfer. Time: 2013/06/06 21:30:00 Code: 0x00000000
I really don't know why I was able to transfer the first playlist flawlessly, but it keeps deleting the Japanese entries for the next ones... I'm starting to get really desperate here.
UPDATE: I just contacted a Sony representative through chat, and during the chat it suddenly... started working? I now have all playlists complete on my phone, including the Japanese tracks... Nor me or the Sony representative have any idea how. I did the same thing as I always did, just... suddenly it worked. Very strange. Anyone has any idea why?
Hi guys,
Im having real trouble getting music onto my Ativ S. I either sync it with Jriver or copy direct to the SD Card and it doubles up all of the tracks. Sometimes it triples or quadruples the track list. I then delete everything to start again but the tracks all stay listed on the phone. Is there a way to refresh the list? I dont want to blank the phone yet again.
I have searched but cant find any thing on this. Its so bad I had to go on holiday and had no music. Ironic that my old Android devices sync better with my Windows 8 desktop than my Windows 8 phone does!
I cant find any other decent music app in the store either. I really like my Ativ S but I also really like music. Will have to go back to Android just to have Poweramp back.
PS. I also tried by ditching the SD and just using the onboard memory, same issue. It all doubled again. Also photos seem to randomly double but that I can cope with.
It's a known issue, but should have been fixed in GDR2. Is your phone up to date? GDR2 should have been available for some weeks now.
