I have copied the installation files across from my old microSD card and arranged with ALK to have the app deactivated and set up for migration.
Have run the install and it says installed fine.
But when I try to run it, it says "copilot is not a valid pocket pc application"...
Have tried reinstalling, have tried using shortcut from programs and from program files on storage card. Even tried installing to device memory.
Any ideas?
strange mine works perfectly ok- I copied both folders over from the original SD card over to the microSD card on my TytnII. then ran the installer from one of the folders and it installed ok.
The only think I made sure was that both folders were at the root level of the storage card....
Thats how mine was...
Anyway am in the midst of a hard reset as I fear that various other satnav trials have mucked up my dll's...
Update - hard reset didnt help at all... same problem...
works beautifully on mine.
you do need to make sure you are using a 2577 with the 6.0.4.110 binaries or it definitely won't work.
Just for your info ... TyTNII with MemMap v5 - 3.3TB of UK ord survey ... works brilliantly as well
I can't load my desktop version and update it. The cd's are corrupt or something!
So I can't even open the copilot on the device to check the version. I have run the patch'd update from alk support - but no joy?
So ALK have confirmed that the replaced version on my storage card is the latest build but no joy...

I successfully upgraded from WM2003 to WM2005 some months ago. I'd now like to upgrade again to TuMa 1.3. Currently my existing rom is 5.03.02 and it crashes quite regularly - especially if people call me.
Anyway, I've been reading through the wiki and a lot of the threads again but there's one thing I can't seem to understand. It seems as if upgrading requires an SD card? Is this the case?
Now, before I'm accused of not reading the documentation, I have and it quite clearly states, "copy the EXTROM folder to your storage card". That's fine and well but I've never had an SD card so how did I manage the first upgrade?
What I've been trying to find out (with little success) is if "storage card" is like the ROM storage area but before I flash my SPV M2000 into a very expensive paperweight I thought I'd better check. Better safe than sorry I guess.
Can someone confirm?
no sd card
i've got a spv m2000 and no sd card but i've managed to upgrade to tuma 1.3 no problem i just copied the extrom to the storage on the phone got less storage now but still works fine

Do you remember where you copied it to? Was it the root directory or just in My Documents?
My worry is I'll copy it somewhere that the install program won't be looking. In the documentation it explicitly states "storage card/EXTROM". It'd be just my luck to copy to the files to the root of my device - try to flash it and having it fail because it couldn't find the image files.
You seriously don't have an SD Card?!
Go to a store, buy a 128 MB one for nearly nothing. Honestly, I can't imagine running a Windows Mobile device without one, especially Windows Mobile 5. There just isn't enough space natively in the device.
You don't technically NEED anything in the EXTROM folder either. Alternatively, you can just take all of its contents (cab files) and put them on your device using activesync, and run them in File Explorer to install them. It's the same thing, just not automatic.

I've not had the need to use much memory on the phone really.
When I had an iPAQ I needed loads of memory and was always using it everywhere but I've found the SPV to be very slow (hopefully improved with the new ROM) and also the headphone socket is proprietary so I can't use headphones that fit my ears that don't fall out.
As well as this, I no longer use Windows - well I use my gf's laptop to flash the phone but that's about it. There's very little integration with Unix and the SPV and it's led to a dramatic reduction of usage.
I've heard of some programs that can sync with Evolution on Unix but they're very unstable at the moment and require quite some understanding to get working and I don't have the time to get that working just yet - maybe in a few weeks time.
I've already ordered an SD card but was just a little excited about the prospect of flashing the ROM (it's like Christmas morning for me!) and was wondering if I could do it without it.
Anyway, running the cabs one by one sounds like a solution for the time being. I thought it needed to replace parts of the sub-system that needed a hard reset no?
Once the ROM is flashed, will Device Information reflect the ROM Version as WM5 5.1.1700?
There is no problem to flash this rom without SD card, because you can install manually every cab from extrom after flashing

Thanks xplode.
I've worked out that the cabs are completely independent of the ROM update and as such don't even need to be on the device.
I thought they were like install files and needed to be present after reboot for the flashing to complete properly. My mistake.
Does this have to be installed on the kaiser memory or SD Card.
On my Wizard I installed it on my SD Card no problems, but on my Kaiser it installs fine, but when I click to run, nothing happens ???
Mine works fine from SD Card. If you're having problems try using Resco, TC, etc. to look at the shortcut properties. Make sure the .lnk is pointing to the right place.
I run "Live" from the SD and it works fine. Unlike Google, which gives you the option of installing to the SD...and then installs to the internal memory anyway.
Strange
For now i can only install it onto main memory, checked links, etc...

What version are you using? Here is a link to the latest original desktop .exe straight from MS. 10.6.0030.2100:
http://rapidshare.com/files/77537208/WLM_v10.6.0030.2100.rar
This one has not been hacked & includes the contact sync fix from MS. Try it.
To install run from desktop. This .exe includes several versions & will select the correct one for your device.
Thanks Gsleon3
This release installs fine and seems to be actually regularly pushing my email (so far)
Hi all,
sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't not find an answer anywhere.
Is it possible to force the TomTom Taster which comes on my Vodafone v1615 app CD to install to my microSD HC card?
At the moment it only installs to the device itself and the option "Install program into the default installation folder" in Activesync is greyed out (as it is with all apps found in the Add/Remove Programs screen when connected to the v1615).
I've installed TomTom Home but cannot see a way to move the installation folder or my one free map download to the microSD card.
Thanks for any help forthcoming
Macca
Its actually nothing worse than copying the TomTom installation folder to your storage card. At least thats what I did. Havent reinstalled TomTom in like 10 ROM-flashs/hard resets, I just make a new shortcut with each flash/reset.
i use tomtom and installed successfully to the tilt main phone storage w/no problems. the application isn't that big, only the map data which is on the sdhc card
check with tomtom support!
tvos
M4cr0s, thats exactly what I'm trying to achieve and have done with my previous iPAQ. So it is just a case of copying the installation folder over? This wont corrupt any installation files or reg pointers?
Macca
There are probably some reg pointers, but it since it works fine here they are either not necessary or the application will automatically create them if their not there. (actually surprisingly many applications works fine installed to storage card and just made shortcut to upon a new flash/hardreset)
To test, just copy the TomTom folder (program files/navigator I think the default path is for the kaisers bundled version) to your storage card, rename the original TomTom folder to something else and try run it from the storage card. If it works, you're pretty much set I'd say.

Yesterday my program files folder in my storage card (4gb Kingston) got lost, instead of that 2 (@#%)*% or sth) appeared so decided to delete everything in my storage card, but now when I try to install the programs I had (some of them, ie. MedCalc) installation was unsuccesful, what do I have to do to reinstall them?
Maybe try to go to Remove Programs and try uninstalling the programs that were on the card - it might be failing as it thinks they're already there.

Woke up this morning and had the exact same thing happen. Uninstalled all the programs from the card and deleted the folder. Reinstalled and the all seem to be working fine now. Unfortunately my speaker just stopped working, so now I'm trying to find a fix for that. Did you just upgrade to the official ATT wm6.1 update on the htc site. I got a text from ATT on Wed and upgraded it last night, went ok, but today I've been finding all kinds of wacky things going on.
PS I have an 8gig Scan Disk. So it can't be a brand thing.
they dont appear in the remove programs list, because i had done a hard reset a few days ago,
I am a serial flasher(!). Up until yesterday my latest ROM was dutty 3.3. All was working fine.
I flashed 3.4 (running BLAC_USPL.EXE) the storage card way, putting the storage card in once I was in bootloader mode etc. ROM loaded fine, but ever since then, manilla wont recognizre my photos, and is giving me a hard time on music.
In addition, without the storage card inserted, device runs MUCH faster than when it is inserted. i thought it was a problem with the 16Gig card, so I reformatted it and reloaded my data (which I can see on file explorer). SAME problem: Manilla wont load pictures and device slow.
I tried 3 other ROMS, including going back to Dutty 3.3. SAME problem: Manilla wont load pictures and device slow
I tried another storage card, this time a 6gb wich has always been flawless. formatted once on the device. formatted anpther time on a PC. SAME problem: Manilla wont load pictures and device slow.
Im going crazy. Can anyone offer some advice?
i don't know if the File System can make any differance, but try multiple types, format it once in FAT32 and test, then NTFS and Test.
maybe one of them is slow!
let us know how it goes
cheers
OK will try. thing is that the machine just gets slower and slower, as if some major process is running in the background. Ideas?
..and its a problem that never occured in the past.
I know it's a long shot but has any "crud" built up in the microsd card slot. If you've eliminated the sd card it's self and everything is fine without the card sound sounds like it's the slot it's self.
had same problem, reformating complately SD card helped me, try formating it again dont use quick format option.
hope that's gonna help you.
cheers
i figured it may possibly be a corrupt file in my DCIM (pictures) folder which stopped manilla reading the folder and kept it busy scanning the folder (hence machine slowwwwwwwwwwwdown), so renamed it, and the problem has gone. Odd, as I can read all the pictures on my PC.
thnaks for all comments
Did i miss somting, you say this is due to a 1.59 rom, only one i know of is CHT and based on your contry I don't see a match, do you have a 1.59 WWE rom

as opposed to the SD method? It may be that entering the card during the process (as outlined by Dutty et al) can cause other files to get corrupted...?
try hard reset after rom flashing.

thereĀ“s already a thread discussing this issue with a vanishing sd-card after flashing the new roms. Take a look here:
