Interesting WM/PC Software - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Found this software because my screen was cracked and I needed to recover some info.

Regards,

I prefer Pocket Controller Pro

Good finding! My screen was cracked (I am still looking for a way to fix the screen other than HTC - Too expensive). With the program, I can use my phone, at least for data retreival purpose now. Thanks.

Screen cracked? Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337102

you can still use it for doing a ton of things if you install MS voice command too.

PointUI on the TyTN II

I just installed the latest build of PointUI (www.pointui.com) on my TyTN II, and really like the slick interface and touch capability. Anyone else running this app, and if so have you run into any issues? The fact that the software will remain a free product makes it worth the "testing".
Thanks.
James
Theres a couple of threads on this already. I have installed it but my TyTN II locks up every time within 2 minutes of starting, even after a soft-reset so have given up for now.
I may give it another go when they fix all the bugs listed on their forums and add more features to make it more usable and by then hopefully my lockup issues will be solved as well.
I did use it for some days but I hate that the 'close' button is not an actual close button at all. It just minimizes the app instead of closing it. So it is very memory consuming.
But I did like the interface and the way it worked. Just wait a little longer to have them some issues solved.
plexat they have just fixed the close program issue today with this update
http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/hardwarekeys2/home.zip
Copy the exe over the old one and you now have a close button instead of a minimize one!
It also fixes the issue with hardware buttons not working.
the background color is horrid and the icons are goofy. but the app itself is pretty slick and i like the update manager.
i haven't used it that much, but the only bug i've experienced is while swiping my finger from side to side to move the applet ribbon the touch cube activates. i didn't know it could activate with a side to side motion.
anyway, for a beta product this thing is incredible. it has huge potential. after revisions, i think this will be a must-have app.
just installed it on my phone and it works for about 2 mins before freezing, once already its reduced my screen to randon red and yellow dots, so thats getting uninstalled.
shame really as the 5 mins i did get to spend playing with it i was quite impressed
or i would if it had a proper uninstaller
very nice!
Just installed this in a WM6 emulator (having no real WM6 hardware at this time) and I must say it is superb! It feels like an iPhone (heresy to say something around here, I know). I almost have to say that it is better then TouchFLO (Yet another heresy to say something around here).

This is a great update! I didn't like the idea of all my apps running in the background. Thanks for pointing this out.
yay! it lets me get to the hardware buttons!

No problem. I dont really know how I found it I have a tendancy to go to forums and open all threads that interest me by holding ctrl down and clicking on them. Then I read through and close them as I go.
I just happened to come across the update in one of the threads I was reading! One of the developers had posted a link to the file in the middle of a thread.

The cube activating is due to your touchflo config file. All you need to do is edit the config file to exclude pointui and the cube will not activate while pointui is open.

PointUI - some notes
Great app, but the problem is it cannot start my 3G connection when e.g. updating weather, or using update manager.
DAMN!
When I start the connection manually from normal WM6 interface, it works then, but it's annoying...
Any help with this?
Thanks,
Gabriel
You know, the saddest part about it all is that even with our $700+ dollar devices (unless you're like me and sold your soul to AT&T... $150 Kaiser baby!) we're all dying for a UI like this. Tell you what, if it wasn't for you guys and the xda-developers community, there's no way in hell I would have gotten this phone. Dutty's ROMs are magical stuff, man. Tell you what, after a few more weeks/months of dev. and a full version with a less... erm... blue background, I'd pay $50 for this program if it allows me to get through my day without ever seeing any part of the traditional Windows Mobile UI. I'd pick it up for $100 if they included integrated task manager, file explorer, media player, web browser, and other essential software. Hell, I'd gladly go higher if they allowed me to never have to see any part of Windows Mobile GUI again. The Kaiser kills the iPhone in functionality (that's why we're all here, right?), but man pointUI is a step in the right direction towards closing the "sexiness" gap.
Okay, rant over.
I'm note sure I would pay $100 for the UI, but I do agree that this is exactly what Windows Mobile needs. Overall function is great and with just a few minor fixes/changes this would be the killer app for any WM device.

I cannot agree more than what you say. HTC is a superb tool designed by engineers with some "help" from designer people. I love it, but my god the interface is sometimes not sexy at all (just compare the icons of pointui as an exemple
Iphone is a superb tool made by designers. I love it from a purely design point of view, but it lacks a lot of things engineers love (openness, 3G+, GPS, etc.)
Now the TYTNII plus a pointUI type interface would be the top must. The very few minutes I spent with pointUI, I loved it. I will keep it as soon as it really work and have more customization.
Now, I am sticked to HTC, because it is quite easier to adapt a new interface to an existing device, than the contrary
Thx

I had the same.. fairly easy to fix:
get yourself a registry editor (PHM for example)
navigate to: \HKCU\software\microsoft\today\keys\112
change: Default string to 'phone' (from Home)
change: Open string to '\windows\cprog.exe'
then i'd do a soft reset.
should work..

Tilt Sensor Not-Quite-SDK

I contacted HTC and asked them if they had a tilt sensor SDK, or had plans to release one, and they basically said "no". So, I decided to see what I could come up with to get tilt response integrated into my little pet-project, and to my surprise, managed to figure out how to get some basic data out of the existing tilt sensor DLL on the Diamond.
If you'd like, you can see my "hello world"-level app using the tilt sensor here on my blog. I've included the source so others can play with the few tidbits I've figured out. The app itself is pretty boring, it'll really only be of interest to developers looking to integrate tilt into their app, and even then, it's still a boring app =)
If accessing the tilt sensor is well known, feel free to ignore me.
Well done, thats great!
You should also probably look at this and talk to CharlyV, he might be able to add some info.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403939
That's great news !
Now developers might use such information to release usefull applications and funny games !
Yes, I was wondering, for my car I use the G-tech for acceleration-measurement.
Is this sensor sensitive / good enough to also do those kind of things?
Also, navigation programs can be a lot more precise by knowing when accelerating, cornering or braking.

Good question: I might try to write some sort of logging program and see what kind of data I can get out of a car trip. That's a bit off for now.
Also, I made a minor update the project, I determined a few more of the unknown values that the API returns.
perhaps you or some other guys are capable to work with some tools mentioned in this post??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2373447&postcount=56
Is there any chance to develop a calibration tool for this sensor?? Mine drifts to lower-left and thats annoying because Opera always means, I rotate my phone :-(
Thank you
I updated the project to include a sample of how to use the event driven notification of different orientations that Opera uses (instead of polling the sensor constantly to determine the current orientation).
I'll have to do some digging to see if there's any way to calibrate the sensor. It'd be nice (mine is a bit off too), but I don't see anything immediatly obvious.
Perfect news!
I hope there are devs, who will make apps or games for this. My idea of a new game is "Black Circle".
(Side in German bug game in English, dont worry)
http://spiele.isnichwahr.de/r432-spin-the-black-circle.html
What do you tink about it?
I wrote a managed wrapper based on Scott's work:
http://blog.enterprisemobile.com/2008/07/using-htc-diamonds-sensor-sdk-from-managed-code/
I think it would be possible to calibrate the sensor by replacing the HTCSensorSDK.dll with one that acts as a pass through to the real thing. Then it could "massage" the returned values with calibration adjustments.
Teeter -> HTCSensorSDK.dll (one we roll that tweaks values) -> RealHTCSensorSDK.dll (the real DLL)
I don't think that the DLL is replaceable unless the device is flashed with a new ROM.
Thoughts?

Getting out of full screen mode from acrobat reader LE

Hello Everyone,
I just got my diamond 3 days ago. Right now, i'm trying adobe acrobat reader LE 2.5 that is included with the phone. Te problem is that once i select full screen mode, there is no way to get out of it. I tried double tapping, tapping the corners, reducing the zoom and nothing happens, the document reamins in full screen so i cannot change any settings.
What i do is to close the applications with the task manager.
Anyone knows how to do it?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, couldn´t manage it either.

i did open a book in full screen. used "back" button or "hang up" button to close/minimize the adobe, then really closed it with the task manager!
nothing special. nothing to be worried about....lol
of course, but this can´t the way how it´s supposed to be done.

of course. the way to do it should be just think "adobe close" !
using two full clicks is the wrong way to do it. damn, HTC! when are you going to learn!!
why using full screen in the first place?! use "reflow".
now if you know another way me and HTC are glad to learn.
on a serious note, i wonder sometimes: why bother and try helping?! nothing seems to be good enough for some ppl...
i´m not kidding. just imagine you make your internet explorer on your pc fullscreen, so the only way to make it non fullscreen anymore is to fully close the application and then restart it?
you can´t be serious that this is the way...
I would like to read a .pdf file on my ppc in fullscreen and maybe change the file again an read another in fullscreen, maybe it will never happen in your usage profile in mine it will.
opera is capable to do so too, so where is the problem, maybe a double click and you get out of the fullscreen mode. That´s not magic.

KukurikU I do agree with horstborsch, I think that maybe a double tap would work to go back to normal screen.
I use full screen when i need to watch some detailed diagrams included in pdf documents, reflow wouln't work for this.
I think there should be a way to do it, if not i would consider this as a bug.
On the other hand, please if you cannot post a good answer or if you don't think the question is good enough for you to answer, save your words, there is no need to be sarcastic. I think the idea behind this forum is to help each other, not to post stupid comments.
Not just me then..
First post on the forum, so first of, hello! This looks like a great resource!
I am also having this problem, see no way to get out of full screen at all
I also encountered this problem only 3 days ago...
Adobe Reader full-screen...
I think the problem with this application is that is was designed for devices with hardware keys beneath the screen which operate the soft-key command on screen (similar to that of non-touch screen smartphones). Of course, the Diamond has no such keys.
I used to use this application on my old Wizard (which does have the hardware keys). If you pressed any of these two hardware keys, the menu would re-appear. You could then exit full-screen and execute any of the other options. Perhaps this is an oversight on Adobes' part?
All u guys are LUCKY..i cant even see the fullscreen option??

Control Pocket PC from Desktop software... I forget the name, HELP??

Anyone have any idea of the name of a free program that did this? It also let you take snapshots and record videos of the screen of your pocket pc. Any help would be appreciated.

another vote for Soti.
Works great
Out of curiosity...
What's the difference between Soti Pocket Controller and Mymobiler?
do they have the same functions, do they do different things? Or they are pretty much exactly the same?
lame late reply...
DotPocket is also one of them... (http://www.dotpocket.com , seems down?)
i prefer pocketcontroller too tho

I love Soti because I demo software from my Tilt.
Not only does the software allow me to mimic the phone on the laptop, record screen shots and videos, but I can spoof different skins onto the image so that I can duplicate the handhelds that the customer will be using.
And all the associated buttons on the spoofed skin WORK... making training a lot easier.
The only real problem I have with Soti is that the bluetooth connection is really quirky.... doesn't always work that way.
I like the Soti Controller Pro as well. BUT.... my desktop crashed and I needed to download the version that I HAD, and it won't let me. They're FORCING me to download the new version 6.02 which doesn't work with my current registration code! And the NEW one they gave doesn't work because they need me to upgrade!!!!
I'm looking for a new FREE desktop controller!
Anyone know of a good one?
@maia
mymobiler is good although it's already been mentioned.
it does have picture screen capture and video screen capture though the videos for me are double-speed. like they had too much caffeine or something.
MyMobiler 1.25...
i use one called Mdesktop.. tis very good
anyone tried "sparus software everywan remote support personal edition"? its free and you get a copy of your device screen on your desktop to poke with your mouse instead of your finger (unless you have a touchscreen pc of course!)

[APP] G-Sensor Based touchscreen Locker 0.1.0.10 (Beta)

After a month and a half with the TP, I really wanted a better locker. One that would if the phone were in a given position would lock the phone if I forgot to. I can't count the number of times that I made "Case calls" becuase my phone resumed while in my belt pouch. This application works much better for me than the others out there.
I am still working on the UI (it's a bit plain Jane at the moment, but before I clean up the look I'd really like to get some feedback on the application and Ideas for the final "look" of the application.
Here is version 0.1.0.10. the First stable public Beta.
Once G-Locker is loaded, if you turn the phone in a specific direction the locker will engage. Then with a "flick" of the wrist in the correct direction, it will unlock.
The initial defaults are:
To Lock: Turn the phone with either long side facing down (or gently flick to the side).
To Unlock: "Flick" the phone in a side to side direction.
To adjust the settings lock the phone then press the Settings Button (You have access to the button for 5 seconds before it disables)
Available settings:
Locking Direction
Unlocking Gesture
Locking Sensitivity (gives some control over phone angle required to lock)
Unlocking Sensitivity (Controls the acceleration force required to unlock)
Number of Seconds to wait before checking to relock the phone
Options to:
Lock the Phone on Suspend
Check if the phone should be locked on Resume
AutoStart (NOT IMPLEMENT AT THIS TIME)
Lock the Panel when Starting G-Locker
(sorry no documentation yet, it will be included in the next release.)
Great, let me try a couple hours and i will post some feedbacks later.
Thanks for your effort!
I'm trying it as well. But isn't it the same as sensorlock?

The software confused me... It only locks my taskbar and I really don't know how to unlock it. So I simply uninstall it (because my screen wasn't lock)
Between SensorLock and TouchLockPro, I prefer SensorLock, because it's more simple. If i can program, i would just go with SensorLock and add the option of light sensor lock and it will be a perfect software.
Eh. SensorLock didn't do it for me. I'd rather use TouchProLock because I just have to tap the center button 3 times to unlock it . I actually have PocketShield + TouchLock Pro. It replaced S2U2 + SensorLock. I don't use PocketShield as a lock really, more as a screen saver since it's simple and has notifications. It's easier for me to look at when I'm just checking my phone to see if I missed something.
Actually the Old adage "he who hesitates is lost" fits real well here. I started this project about 7 weeks ago (when I couldn't find anything on google regarding a sensor based locker). Unfortunately it sat on the back burner for the past 5 weeks while I worked on hunting down the power and heating issues I was having. Then I never really bothered to do another Google search (until today) seems there are a number of these out there. I have looked at sensorlock today, It is very configurable, but not really what I am looking for (More of If the phone is in a given position then lock it, I'll have to look at touch lock pro. At this point though I'm inclined to drop this project unless I really can't find something else that works (no need reinventing the wheel any further!)
(BTW, I disabled the full lock rountine (except for the taskbar) for the beta version so I would not have to do a soft reset ever time something didn't work correctly)
Should I decide to resume development, I'll post here then. Thanks for those that took a look at it.
Sensorlock is no longer developed and is not at all perfect, il'd use this over sensorlock if there was an option to only lock the touch screen on wakeup from call, which is broken in sensorlock
Dude! If only this could be integrated with TouchLockPro!!! I'd love you both! Might want t have a talk with ZuinigeRijder. He releases the source for TouchLockPro also. I really think that GLocker + TouchLockPro = best locker for g-sen phones on xda-dev
