Problems with unlocked MDA Compact II

I have recently bought a MDA Compact II of a mate of mine. It used to be on T-mobile but has been unlocked and currently has an o2 sim. I have had some problems though. I cant seem to use my o2 GPRS settings in the device, or send MMS messages. When i take a picture using the camera, then go to send in a MMS the device freezes and i can not get back to the main screen. Also, when i try to send a file through MMS using the file manager, nothing comes up.
When i go to send a new message, i click on the menu button and the Insert Item field is greyed out. Does anyone know the problems i am having and how to fix them?

PS: Not much of a problem but wonder if it can be fixed anyway. Is there a way i can change the boot screen picture? It has the t-mobile design at the moment.

Hi. First of all, i'm not tiny bit as knowledgeable as the gurus on this board, but this seems to be solvable by my bird brain, so here goes.
First of all, I think you should do a hard reset and before the T-mobile customisations begin, you should soft reset to prevent T-mobile gprs and mms settings etc from getting installed.
Then you can install or configure O2 settings.
For boot screen, you need to CID unlock your device and then splash the required boot screen. There was quite a discussion in the Charmer forum about this. You might want to check the Charmer threads. Loads of information there.

1.- Settings: Delete all the T-Mobile connections, and create your own according to carrier of the SIM you are using. Doesn´t take much to figure out how to I wouldn´t recommend to stop the customisation where the extended ROM is deployed, you may find useful settings in your Ext ROM.

I have done a soft reset before customization begins, but my o2 details do not seem to want to work when i test them. The splash screen thing looks a little complicated and i will read up on it sometime.
Now for my other problem. Does anyone know why when i click "Send to MMS" after taking a picture the device locks up and i need to soft reset to use the device again. And also why is the "insert item" field greyed out in the menu when creating a new SMS?
By the way thank you for the other advice. I will be reading up on it very soon.

since soft and hard resets have proven futile, you may want to try a rom upgrade to see if it makers any difference.

no modem at above number.
and to let u know I'm not using T-Mobile network , and I tried to do soft rest befor the T-mobile settings downloaded and it still the same problem

I'm new here and i/m glad i can find help with people with the same phone
Apperently, i've been having problems with my network signal it only shows 1 or no bars...my phone provider is rogers in toronto...but i've changed my sim card into another phone and it works fine only with the O2 it shows an problem with signal of one bar i showed it to rogers they said its your phones hardware. is there any thing i can do to fix this problem or need to download any software....

Hum... if you never flashed any ROM's to it or RADIO, then my guess is that your Wizard's antenna is broken or something?

I was confused... I cannot dial out any phone number... only can receive..

Need more information to help
What happens when you try to dial out (any messages given)? Have you run through the Connection setup (under settings) for your country and operator (I assume it's a TyTN II we're referring to since we're in the Kaiser forum)? More information about your phone/ppc, sim, country and network may help.

Hate to ask the obvious: did you try a soft reset?

Where I dial out, the phone will alert "Bi Bi Bi Bi". Of course Tytn II... What you mean by "Connection setup"? in my Connection session, I only can find Tasks and Advanced but not country and operator.
I using Orange UK.
And soft-reset many times.

Had the same symptoms occasionally when connected to 3G on my P3600. Turned out it was a network problem. Network hardware was upgraded a couple of months later and no more problems since (P3600 and P4550).
Try disabling 3G, maybe it helps....

Read the manual or (translating from a German device): Phone -> Menu -> Options -> Band -> network type : select GSM.
This may or may not help, but it´s worth a try.

I have followed your guideline but still not work...
And I cannot access to 3G, GPRS now... Crazy...

My mistake......you should of course select GSM - typo in above post.....
If it still doesn´t work, I´m afraid I´ve no more ideas

Opposite
I have quite the opposite problem on my elf - Outgoing calls are possible, but no incoming calls. This sim card works fine on another phone, but does not work on another touch. Other sim cards work fine.
Any ideas anyone ?
( I know it's the wrong forum, but am desperate .

Cool man. It is work. But Do you know why I cannot set as Automatic? is that mean I cannot use 3G now???

Looks like it is indeed network specific. You might want to contact your provider and see if they are aware of any problems. As I said, my network did have the same issues occasionally and I believe Orange in France had some troubles as well about a year ago or so.....

Well with my (HTC branded and non network customised) TyTN II, Connection Setup is the name of an icon in Settings, Connections Tab. It allows me to select the country and network and the program configures the rest.

Ah that may explain it. If you have an Orange provided version of the TyTN II, they may have customised the options on your phone to remove that program/function. Connection Setup is explained in my manual immediately after the section on Comm Manager (pg 163). I'll be interested to hear what your network provider has to say about the problem.

tmobile sim in att tilt problems!

Help! Unlocked Tilt Problems
i recently purchased a tilt online and it is brand new everything is fine with the phone but i unlocked the phone because my company switched from att to tmobile, so before i unlocked the phone my att 3g sim card worked fine with the phone, wifi worked fine 3g icon came up in network bubble at the top taskbar...but after i unlocked the phone and placed the tmobile sim card in the tilt, no Edge or gpsr icon shows up at the top next to the signal strength icon and when i click on wifi and go online everything works fine but after i go back to commanager to turn off the wifi....the wifi icon doesnnt go away from the top taskbar..its just shows the no signal wifi icon when the wifi is off. So then i took the tmobile sim card out and placed the cingular sim back in the phone and when i click on the wifi button and then press it again in commanager to turn wifi off the icon, it goes away like normal....so is there something wrong with my tmobile sim card? which is why its not showing any edge or gprs icons for some reason? even though i dont have a data plan i should see when i am in an edge area...what is annoying me the most is when i place this tmobile sim in the tilt, the wifi icon wont go away when the wifi is being turned off in wireless manager. PLz help this is very strange and i cant seem to find out how to gain these icons and lose the wifi icon when wifi isnt on.

wow are u serious nobody has had prblems with the wifi icon not going away or any other icons not going away when there not supposed to be turned on? ..this is a huge forum i know i can find someone to help me figure out why this tmmobile sim card is doing this to my phone and not allowing the wifi icon to go away from the top task bar when i go into comm manager and press the wifi off button it doesnt work...the wifi radio itself turns off and theres no data being sent to the phone from the wireless router but the icon stays on the phone and the only way to get rid of the icon is to go in comm manager and press the phone button to turn of all connections to my phone. I am not one to help because I am also a noob and your issues are not ones I have seen. BUT - let me give you what help I can:
Recommendations -
1. use punctuation.
2. use concrete sentences
3. specifically tell what you did and enumerate each problem separately
4. indicate what ROM you are using
5. indicate what changes you made to your phone AFTER you went to the TMOBILE card
Now - here are some guesses -
1. you had an AT&T phone with AT&T connection strings - and you think that unlocking the phone and simply putting in a TMOBILE card will make the phone work?
My guess is that you are going to have to change some data connection strings at least? AT&T is not going to allow you to use media net to surf the internet with no contract using a TMobile card.
Remember - you are asking people to use their spare time to help you fix YOUR screwup. Make it easy for them to read and help you.

ok so i have a brand new ATT tilt regular htc/att rom no flash upgrades nothing. So i had to unlock the phone to use it with my tmobile service. After i unlocked the phone and placed this tmobile sim in the phone something strange with the wifi happens, when i turn on the wifi the icon comes up like normal on the top taskbar, and when i turn the wifi off after use the icon doesnt go away....this is strange and never happened when i had my old cingular sim in the phone...is there any way to fix the icon and make it go away? or am i going to have to turn off all services in the commmanager by pressin the phone button to take the icon away whenever i use wifi. that didnt work...all it did was add tmobile data to my connections. My wifi icon still doesnt go away from top taskbar when i turn wifi off. Since i unlocked this att phone an im using a tmobile sim card, do u think i should install the official tmobile windows mobile 6 for HTC phones? seems that this tmobile sim card is the culperate of making this wifi error, because when i take this sim out and place an old cingular sim in the phone it doesnt do this error. Wifi turns off when its suppose to and no icons hang around. If anybody has ever heard of this problem plz help...i dont want to go to the last resort of switching to WM 6.1 right now or something i like WM6

I will bet that you are not going to get help -
1. you use run on sentences that are VERY difficult to read
2. you do not specifically state your problem or goal
3. you state "that did not work" you do not QUOTE what you were trying so no one knows what THAT is (although I am suspecting that you ran the suggested cab file)
You need to:
1. use EXPLICIT SHORT sentences
2. engage the CARRIAGE RETURN KEY
3. enumerate your issues
4. tell us what you want to happen - we CANNOT guess what you have hosed up
5. Not an expert - so you will need someone else to tell you that this is true - but each company "brands the device and makes it so that the phone works with their system. If you are leaving AT&T and going with TMOBILE I suspect that you MAY need to flash to a ROM that works specifically with TMOBILE BUT
SPECIFICALLY STATE what you want - for example:
I have an HTC TILT - it was an AT&T phone and I want it to work on TMOBILE -
Currently - nothing works on the phone and here is what i have done.....
or
Currently everything works on the phone EXCEPT...
Just my opinion and I am going to quit responding to your message (which you may actually appreciate) as it is obvious that they have no effect.

dood whk im not in english class....im on an online forum trying to get help to fix my phone..get a clue or get a life cuz obviously u have nothing better to do but tell people to use punctuation when im obviously not worried about how i type in a freakin forum u jerkoff...and for have this thread up for a week and getting limited help on what i ACTUALLY NEED HELP ON MY ATT TILT AND WHY A TMOBILE SIM MAKES MY WIFI ICON NOT GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE WITH WIFI AND TRY TO TURN IT OFF..THE DATA STOPS BUT THE ICON DOESNT GO AWAY FROM THE TOP OF MY PHONE...IT JUST STOPS SEARCHING FOR SERVICE WHEN I PRESS THE WIFI OFF BUTTON...there, so i guess i need to use a new rom and flash a radio or wutever that is....that conection setup cab only put tmobile data in my conections. It did nothing to switch att defaults in the phone to tmobile, thnx anywayz guy who gave me that app....if anyone has had these issues with tmobile sims plz respond and not reply with english lessons

Stange "triange icon"

Hi,
I have just been to Belguim. During this time a new white triange icon was shown on the top bar. What is it for? Nothing happened when I clicked on it. After return, it disappeared.

anyone know how to disable that roaming icon because my operator carier being merge to another one and now that annoying icon always show on my screen even im not roaming

You need a new SIM card which is from your merged carrier.

i'm pretty sure theres a registry hack for that, but can't seem to find the thread right now... anyone?

Note that this is a workaround, and will disable the roaming icon even when you are actually roaming... just remember the bills

looks like thats the reg hack i need.. because there is no more roaming by my carrier in all over my country here,so i dont need that annoying white triangle anymore. But ill go to my CS carier first,hope they can do something. thx guys

oh.. some my apps keeps telling me that im roaming at start up. will that hack solve this prob? hmmm i dont think so.. anyone can help? (just in case my CS cant do something,like usual)
