System Tray Removal - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I would love to remove the system tray from my screen and be able to reclaim that space. How do I do that? (Using Dutty's Hybrid Rom No.4 Test RTM).

Go to your windows folder, then the startup folder and remove the shortcut entitled 'init_tray'. Soft-reset. If there are still items in your system tray, remove their shortcuts from the same folder, as well.

I don't have the file "init_tray"
I appreciate your quick response. I do not have the file "init_tray" in my windows startup folder. I have an AT&T Tilt with Dutty's Rom flashed onto it. Any more ideas? All help is appreciated.

Hi MNJ4EVR,
I am using the same rom, but I do not have any items in my system tray, did you install any apps that leave icons on the system tray?

windows files?
what are you using to look for these files? file explorer? or total commander resco explorer? some files can't be seen with file explorer. on second thought its not in my folder either (big storage rom) and when I use tomtom theres that tray

Are you referring to the menu bar at bottom with the two soft keys? If so I'd love to get rid of that to gain a bit more today screen space ??

I am also seeking to remove the system tray. (BTW, the soft keys are NOT the system tray...when there are icons, they appear ABOVE the softkeys and to the right).
Can't seem to find what registry setting to tweak or what file to remove. In other HTC devices, something sits in the startup folder, but there isn't anything there...frustrating.

SpbPocketPlus Shortcuts

Could someone who uses SpbPocketPlus, zip the shortcut command directory and attach it to a reply? I believe its under "\Windows\Start_Menu\Programs\Spb_Pocket_Plus_Actions".
I'm using Faria's 3.2 ROM and SpbPocketPlus freezes it so I have the executable directory loaded on the SD card and am hoping I can use the shortcut programs especially "backlight loop".
At the very least, could you tell me the shortcut properties setting for the "backlight loop" command? I figure its ActionSender.exe with some parameters.
Thanks,
Mike H
Find the attached file if u still want it, but as far as I have realised they are just the shortcuts for the main exe's already installed.
Any way good Luck

SPB Pocket + will not run on that ROM. Been there, done that....you're lucky your device booted up completely to try and fix it. iLauncher3 works great, give it a try.

No Windows Folder???

Hi guys, I just bought my Kaiser the other day, and when I hook it up to my computer, I cannot see any Windows folder on the device itself, other than Windows Media Player in Program files. Can someone help me?
Go to My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View>and check the second one in "hidden files and folders."
hmm, that's what i thought, but I tried it and there still isn't one.. anything else?
try using a different file explorer such as gsfinder or other 3rd party. are you using a custom rom? oem roms dont hide windows folder by default
just to be sure......you are using file explorer and you are in the top level directory....right?
No, I'm not running a custom rom (too afraid of bricking), but I'll try gsfinder
OK, got it to work by downloading and gsfinder, then removing it. A little weird, but that's OK. Thanks for your help, but one more quick question: how can I customize the two lower soft keys?

Cant remove program from Remove Programs

Anyone advise on how to remove a program, if it wont do it through the Remove Programs tool? Is it just delete the files?
Keep getting "...was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the lost of installed programs?" Which I do but it still shows.

you could just delete the files, but there will always be some files left, and registry entries.
the only way would be to Hard reset and start again (unless u know the exact location of every file etc).
What program is it btw?
Ok thanks.
Its mfrazzz CommManager_8button_wizard and it has screwed up my Comms window

Get MemMaid. It cleans you mobile from all bits and pieces left behind after installing and uninstalling software. It leaves it squeaky clean and you'll be amazed at the amount on memory space you've been throwing away to bits of software that no longer work!
Hi guys.. need a bit of help here.
I installed a cab file. Now I want to remove the cab installation using the Remove Program. This error message keeps popping up " xxxx was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed program" I tapped "yes" but it did nothing. The cab installation still remains in the Remove Program list.. I have already deleted the program manually. What could be wrong. TQ

Customizing Start Menu in WM6.5

I just installed the latest Cristian WM6.5 (full).
1) How can I rearrange programs on the honeycomb main app screen (not titanium or today) into different folders? Is there a windows directory I can manipulate to accomplish this?
2) How do I delete programs from memory that are not in the Remove Programs list (there was no "Clean" ROM available)? I don't want to just start removing folders then end up screwing things up.
BUMP
No one's tried this yet?

All shortcuts displayed on honeycomb are in windows\startmenu\programs.
Just go there, create your folders and put the shortcuts in it.
Do a soft reset and enjoy

Removing apps from stock rom (not through a kitchen)

I have a stock HTC Touch Diamond. I am wanting to remove the apps I don't use like Messenger and some others. I tried through ActiveSync but because they are built into the ROM they do not show up. Is there an app or something I can use to remove these?
Thanks

SKTools will allow you to remove apps that are installed on your device that don't show up in the Remove Programs part of Settings.
Also, you could hard reset your device and soft reset before customizations run and then install only the apps that you want.
Or, use activesync and browse to Windows-Start Menu-Programs and delete the program shortcuts that you don't want to see. Though with this option all you are doing is removing the program shortcut the program files are still there.
I tried SKTools but under the installed programs section it only shows the ones I have installed. I wanted to remove the likes of WLM, YouTube etc. I ripped all the ROM data (following one of the tutorials, so I have 4 RAW files but not sure how to combine them back to an NBH file so I can edit them in a kitchen to remove what I don't want.)
Ok well I managed to reconstruct the ROM but I have no idea how successful I actually was at doing such. I followed the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066. I really want to put this ROM on the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622093 but I am afraid that if I screw up the flashing and my reconstructing of the stock ROM didn't work that I would be screwed. Any suggestions? Also my provider doesn't make the ROM available and neither does HTC (for Rogers that is).
In SKTools if you go to the Installed Programs Section click on the right softkey and select settings.
Then scroll down to "Show Applications Not Listed As Installed." Change the setting to Yes.
Maybe then you can remove what you want.
Also, you can use the Move Data part to move files, folders, and applications to Internal Storage to free up space.
Believe it or not but that is not an option under settings that will show Applications not listed as Installed... running SKTools 4.5.1.4.
Scratch that. I found it
