Can the 6510 be used as a bluetooth GPS? I have a Hermes and would like to be able to bond it to the 6510 for GPS use. I have played with it some in the past but could never get it working.
Never Mind....
I just upgraded to a Kaiser... Problem fixed...

Good Call.
Changing COM ports?
I've got a 6515a and a Hermes. Prior to upgrading to WM 6.1 on the Hermes, I was able to connect the two devices for GPS thru bluetooth, but now I can't get a connection. Is there anyway to change the COM port for bluetooth Serial porting? My Hermes only gives me the option of COM 1,3,5,8, but 6515 broadcasts on 4. Any way to change 6515 to 5?

I thought I would add my tuppenyworth to the Tomtom problems with the XDA 2i. Bought a wired Tomtom "Official" GPS receiver for it and tried it with TT5 to no avail. It would not recognise the receiver at all no matter how I tried to specify it's com ports etc..
I eventually upgraded to TT5.1 and it worked immediately with no problems at all. Been working fine ever since.
if it matters
hi, i have a xda 2i and use tomtom 5.20, when i use my wired gps i was told to switch off the infra red beam, mine seams to work like that.
port problem?
could anybody help? my xda2i never works with tomtom5...
how to switch the beam off pls??
switch off receiving beam????
under setting > connections > beam
O2 XDAIIi with tomtom 5.21 and BT GPS receiver
but there is still problem with the signals, it can display the right UTC time, and numbers of satellites, such as 29 on the North, but there all gray and said no valid GPS signal!
the com ports couldn't be changed which are com5 inboard, com6 outboard.
does anyone know what the proble is pls??
ps: I installed the BTHTools1100, but no change
see the attachment pic
many thanks
Hi Piers,
i've got exactly the same problem :-(.
With a GlobalStar BT348, the GPS signals are plainly perfect. But when i connect the official Tomtom wired receiver, i only get the grey bars, although, like you, the UTC and spinning wheel are there, indicating the GPS is detected.
I looked at the compatibility list on the Tomtom site, and besides Dell and iPaqs, there seems to be nothing compatible with the wired receiver.
Anybody has other information?
Hi again,
I think I found the solution
1. of course, "receive all incoming beams" has to be off
2. apparently, you can not have a paired BT GPS receiver (even inactive) when you want to use the wired Tomtom receiver...
I guess it has to do with the way WM2005 deals with GPS... :?:
So, in BT devices, delete the partnership with the BT receiver and everything works fine with the wired one. In TT5, simply declare the receiver as a wired Tomtom
I used it this morning, driving 100km, 90minutes, without a crash or anything

If I understand you correctly
1. you want to know whether you can share the GPS receiver in the Kaiser with your laptop - Yes but you will need something like Franson GPS Gate to share the built-in GPS signal over activesync or BT.
2. Yes, iGo works fine with th internal receiver.

Yes, you understand me! Thank You!!!
Do you know what is TouchFlo?
TouchFlo is the finger scrolling of menus and panning pictures and web pages. It's inlcuded in the Tilt ROM.

I've been trying to link a TyTn II to my S730 as a remote GPS receiver for TomTom Mobile. I thought I would try GPS2Blue first because it's free.
There is lots of advice on getting GPS2Blue working with XP laptops but has anyone successfully paired with another WM6 device.
I can pair the 2 devices ok and swap files through Bluetooth Explorer but nothing happens if I switch on GPS2Blue:
- if the phones are paired GPS2Blue can't open the BT port
- if the phones are not paired, GPS2Blue will activate BT on the TyTn but the S730 can't discover it
- in both cases, there are no options on either phone for setting incoming or outgoing COM ports (unlike WM5)
I'm guessing that the TyTn is presenting itself as a PPC device, not a serial GPS device. But I thought GPS2Blue was supposed to rectify that.
Can anyone help?
Hey Guys,
it seems a bit like a stupid question (and maybe it is) but how do a actually connect my s730 to a ... lets say GPS Bluetooth receiver?
I read the manual ... I got the two devices paired.
Everythings fine. Until it says that I am connected to the receiver. The problem is, I am not. At least the receiver says so.
Until last week a had a Asus P525 (WM5 PPC). It was no problem to get a connetion. I paired the devices ONCE, activated BT and chose connect on the paired device everytime I needed it. Unlike WM5 PPC there is nothing like "connect now" anywhere. It seems like I have to re-pair the devices everytime. But that can't be right.
Thanks in advance,
Samuel
With some GPS programs, after you have paired, you need to create a com port over the connection. Did you do this?
With Tomtom 5.2, you do not need that. It just finds the device as soon as it is paired.
Hope that helps
I have TomTom 6 installed. And it says that I have to connect the device. On my WM5 PPC I used Navigon MobileNavigator 6 and had no problems at all. MN|6 found the device itself. Maybe its TomTom which causes the problems.
Sorry I can't help. Since I learned that TT6 was not suported on smartphones, I gave up any plan on upgrading. 5.2 is enough for me.

Did you disable Bluetooth explorer?
@phailo
Yes, it is disabled. I tried Efficasoft's GPS Utilities and these CAN connect to the receiver ... and get a lock.
What bothers me, is that there seems to be no real bluetoth manager on the s730. It would be great to get the Broadcom Bluetooth Manager to work.
Hi
Is there any software for the tytn2 which will allow me to use it as a bluetooth gps?
Thanks
i have installed a program named GPSgate. You can try this... but i never tested it. You can link your gps to bleutooth virtual com port and trough USB i thougt.
Good Luck
GPS2Blue, work perfect with my Kaiser and my UMPC via bluetooth
Looks like GPS2Blue will do the trick - what settings did you use on the TYTN2 ?
Thanks
I had the same question this morning Downloadd GPSGate end it worked perfect as a GPS via BlueTooth.

No just kidding. I installed the software on my TyTN II. Then started the program and it came with a wizard. I checked Active Sync and BlueTooth. After that you have a new row at the bottom of your screen. There you can see that it is active. I turned on the BT on my device. Then browsed BT devices on my computer and there a got a SPP port and it was mapped to COM18. In my program (which we wrote ourselves at our company) I connect to COM18 and all works fine.
Yes Blue2GPS is small, simple, light and it worked with NO FUSS and no bull.
I can use the GPS on my phone to track my position using Google, Microsoft's Live search and Delorme all the while sending a GPS signal to my laptop where I can also track my position - Lots of fun!
GPS2BLUE is but simple - It works.
Beautiful. Had exactly the same question and this has flatly answered it I spent hours this morning trying to get my Tytn2 to work as a standalone GPS receiver that my old brick of a Ipaq h6340 could use for it's SatNav software.
Thank you to all
Yep, try GPSGate.....
This is going to sound silly, but is it possible to share a bluetooth GPS via Bluetooth on the Tilt?
I have an unused smartphone with Tom Tom on it which I'd like to use as a car nav so my Tilt isn't tied up doing it. But I want the Tilt having use of the GPS for TrackMe and other things.
I will not use the Tilt's GPS for many reasons, so I use a Bluetooth GPS, and share it out to multiple programs on the Tilt via GPSGate. All that works well. But it'd be nice to be able to share the bluetooth GPS with the other smartphone as well.
AFAIK the GPS won't connect to multiple devices, and I tried to set up a bluetooth output in GPSGate which didn't seem to work. I know the Tilt can connect to multiple devices on Bluetooth, but perhaps GPS data is too much to share. But figure it's worth asking.
