Hello,
is it possible to use the HTC Kaiser with the mobile standart in Japan?
And what about the HTC Touch and the HTC Herald?
Thank you for your answere.
Special2k3
As I understand it Japan has no GSM networks, but they do have 3G networks, so no 2G devices, such as the original HTC Touch or Herald will work, but 3G devices such as the HTC Kaiser, Touch Dual and Touch Cruise should work without any problem, but still only on 1 or 2 of the carriers.

But the Compact IV from Vodafone (i think it is the Herald) has UMTS. So if i understand you right, i habe to use a UMTS phone in japan?
EDIT: Sorry, we have the compact III, not the compact IV.

It doesnt Work in Japan!
UMTS is a G3 Network ... but Japans G3 Network is a own System. It use different Protokolls and Frequency ... G3 only say -> you can make Video Call in a High Speed Network.

This Page from a japanese mobile provider says that the Tytn will work. So i think (hope) the TyTn II will also work.

I live in Japan, and I used a TyTN and now a TyTN II, so I can guarantee you that it will work. SoftBank and DoCoMo sell the TyTN...

I was in a telstra shop today and asked about the WM6 ROM for telstra. The salesman metioned that there had been a few bugs but 2-3 weeks was the current expection.
That's good to hear. At the moment i have a Dopod c730 and Telstra Tre 750 (with the new WM6 voda rom) on it and neither of them can get 3G/HSDPA...only Edge connections. After 3 calls to Telstra they said 1) Dopods aren't supported because we dont sell them and 2) Windows Mobile 6 updates arent supported at all...
I just wish Optus' 3G rollout would speed up!!!!!!!!!!
ha how funny, i have it no problems at all...do you have a next g sim card?!?!?
@aussienick
I too have a Treo750 Telstra but now after the WM6 upgrade is now branded Vodafone.. I can get both 3G and H (which I am assumiing stands for HSDPA) and it automatically switches to H when I am using the internet/data and goes back to 3G.. I use a Voda SIM on this phone..
This sucks
Well this sucks..My Treo with WM5 was working great with the #G speed from telstra, then when updating to AT&T rom it went to edge and now with the Voda rom from Palm UK it only allows me Edge too...
I've had the same problem actually. I started with 3G working find, then went to WM6 ATT rom, then to UK vodafone. Still no 3G just edge.....this doesn't look good. Perhaps we need to go back to the original telstra rom??? Anyone got it?
i've never had a problem. my original rom was the vodafone because i purchased my Treo 750v from overseas. worked great on Three's 3G network although i had to find the modem settings through whirlpool.net
i've upgraded to the ATT WM6 Rom and it was even better... now with HSDPA! everything was pre configured so i didn't have to do anything even!
and after Vanilla-ing the Rom nothing's changed. i get HSDPA when possible. i only get Edge when i'm deep inside a building but i have forced my phone to lock onto an UTMS band only
Could this be the reason,
The AT&T Rom only allows
GSM(900 + 1800 + UMTS 2100
or
GSM(1900 + 850) + UMTS (1900 + 850)
Telstra are using:
GSM 900 / 1800
UMTS 850 (NextG) / 2100 (shared with Three)

If that's the case, then what options are shown in the Telstra ROM or the Vodafone ROM for band selection?
I don't remember, maybe someone here has an old WM5 build, and can tell us.
I remember having 4 options on WM5 and now only have 2 with WM6.
Currently on WM6 I only have:
GSM (900+1800) + UMTS 2100
GSM (1900+850) + UMTS (1900+850)
On the old WM5 I have both above plus 2 more, 1 i think only had GSM and the other I think was GSM + UMTS (2100, 1900, 850)..
Sorry could not properly remember..

Thanks again!

Make sure you have a 3G or nextg sim, I just called into a telstra seller, and they gave me a new sim (no charge) for nextg.
Telstra have now replaced it, and it work fast. 3G normal and U for internet. 550
I thought it work OK with WM5, but maybe I was wrong??
Now internet/email is real fast, on WM6
I have an Treo 750-1.16-RWE, upgraded with 3 rom vanilla.
Treo 750 WM6 For Aussie World
Hey any of you fellow Aussie Landers used a WM6 upgrade then used PoP3 via telstra data plan on telstra 3g sim
Not keep to screw up my wife's new 750.
Spoke to Palm and they were not as sure at this 3-4 weeks window?
Spoke to head of Mobile Telstra and he confirmed problems may delay til <gulp> next year.
Either way loss of Telstra branding crap on my phone isn't an issue if it still allows her pop3..
FYI PoP3 is not Big Poo or Telstra .
Thanks in advance folks
come on telstra!!!
Telstra ROM anyone?
Does anyone have a Telstra ROM for the Treo 750, WM5 or maybe WM6 ?
What would be the best ROM to use for Telstra connectivity?

Any one else here using the HTC Diamond on Rogers network here in Canada?
I just purchased my Diamond a few days ago to replace my HTC 3600P. My 3600P connected to Rogers 3G network perfectly fine and I was able to get broadband speeds.
Now, with the Diamond I can only get GPRS (G icon on the phone) and Edge (E icon on the phone).
I am not sure if this had anything to do with it, but unlike the 3600P, when first setting up the Diamond it ask if I wanted the phone to auto detect the network and auto configure the phone. I selected yes.
In the phone settings under network tab, the network selection is set to Automatic. Under the Band tab, both select your network type and select your GSM/UMTS band is set to auto.
is my phone setup correctly, or is it that the Diamond doesn't work with Rogers 3G network only GPRS/EDGE? If this is the case now, could a ROM update fix this?
I really need broadband speeds on my work and am seriously considering returning the phone, as I specially asked the store I purchased it from here in Toronto if it would work on Rogers 3G network like my HTC 3600P and they said yes.
Current Diamond models (EU and Asia) do NOT support North American 3G bands. There was some talk from Rogers that the 900MHz band would be support but for now GPRS is as fast as you will get with your Diamond.
Just to add confirmation to what NikoL has said.
No 3G with the Diamond on Rogers.
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!
My question now is will my ASIAN/UK diamond ever work on Roger's 3G network? If yes, any idea how long this will take?
I really need broadband speed on my mobile phone for work. I still have my HTC 3600P which works fine on the Rogers 3G.
I am trying to justify keeping the phone or returning it.
Worth holding on to?

To be honest buddy, it all depends on Rogers if they support that band that your missing. If they arent going to enable it on their network then you will never get 3G on the Diamond that you have now. So its a 50-50 chance they may or may not...probably better off asking them if you ring them. Im sure they will tell you if they have any intentions of enabling that band on their network.
Now if it was me, id return it and wait for the North American version which should be released next month hopefully. But this is me personally...im in the UK and i couldnt live without 3G myself...blazing fast on my nokia n95 8gb which i sold and at the moment im having to make do with GPRS because my nokia 8600 luna only does GPRS.

What are you doing that requires 3g?
Edge and GPRS don't imped stuff like email sync, syncml, or minor web browsing.
If you need to use remote access like RPD or UVNC then sell the phone. Roger's isn't about to turn on 900mhz as that requires changing the match on existing infrastructure. It makes far more sense for them to push toward LTE tech rather then waste it on whats going out.

I work in the streaming media industry, hence I definately require broadband on my mobile phone/device.
For now, I guess I will keep using my HTC P3600 which works perfectly fine on Rogers 3G and hope that the north amercian version of the Diamond will support Rogers 3G or on the tail end, that a ROM update for the Asian verision will 'turn on' the required freq to support Roger's 3G.

I would imagine the N American version of the Diamond would support 3G in Canada...as for a rom update to enable the asian version that you have now to use 3G??..i doubt it very much as its a hardware issue. The diamond you have is missing that 3G attenna.

You are correct about the ROM update. I called HTC Canada and confirmed this with their support department. I guess, I'll be putting my Diamond up for sale on ebay (as my local dealer refuses to take back the phone - last time I'll ever purchase from them, as I specifically asked about it working on Rogerrs prior to purchase) and wait for the North Amercian verision.. or see how the new 3G iphone stands up when it is released here on July 11th.
Does anyone know if the TYTN II works on the new T Mobile 3g network in New York City? Woule likr to hear from someone who is actually using this 3g network.

it wont work for 3g. att and t-mobile are on separate frequencies that the tilt wont pickup for tmobile's 3g network.
the tilt will only work in 2G.... EDGE and regular GPRS
My phone is not the Tilt it is an HTC branded TYTN II unlocked phone from HTC Hong Kong that I have on T Mobile

what do you mean the tilt will only pick up 2G..att's tilt is a 3g phone..i have one, but i am on t-mobiles service..i had to unlock the phone to do this first...and i can switch back and forth between 3G and tmobiles edge with the diamond commmanger app....ii just cant use att's 3g because i have a tmobile sim in my phone
Doesn't work.. I'm using TyTN II for NYC T-Mobile.. no 3G
It doesn't work because it uses different FREQUENCIES.
Look at it this way:
You want to call your friend, he has an htc touch. Let's call him, Lenny.
Then you change your mind, and you want to call your other friend, who also has an htc touch. Her name is Michelle.
If you dial Lenny's phone number, you won't get Michelle just because she has the same phone.
ATT 3g and T-mobile 3g are the same TYPE of network, but they use different frequencies. Just like Lenny and Michelle have the same phone, but different phone numbers.
Make sense now?
The TYTN II and it's Variants were not designed to operate on the frequency that T-mobile 3g operates on.

lets break this down a bit better for him so that he may undertand your post.
"it wont work for 3g. "(That is a period for a very short sentence, and he meams )
It won't work on tmobile 3g.
"att and t-mobile are on separate frequencies that the tilt wont pickup for tmobile's 3g network."
This one is more straight forward now that you have a better version of the first sentence.
It should go something like this
It won't work on the Tmobile 3g because att and and tmobiles frequencies for 3g are totally different from each other and the tilt doesn't support the tmobile one (as you know it supports the att one), BUT it does support edge and gprs..
Can the radio in the TYTN be changed to the new T Mobile frequency.whats there now is 1900/2100 and needs to be 1700/2100.

Hello all, sorry if this Thread was post on forum but i can't find it. So my problem of my kaiser is i Upgrade Official HTC ROM WM 6.1 ESP and my TyN II is Unblocket and i can get company Cell Phone Digitel TIM Venezulan but wen Network is Searching Get for 5 Sec. 3G and back to GSM normal i mean show icon E.
I checking other phone is HTC Touch and 3G work fine. can any one tell me is my Kaiser can get 3G?
Configuration all is Fine APN, HSPDA are on, GPRS Authentication PAP
PS. Digitel TIM don't have HTC TyN II (Kaiser) Product List.
Sorry my english sux :S
Should be able to get 3G as long as you have a TyTN II with the right bands... I think South America uses 850 and 1900, which if your TyTN II originated in Europe, it probably doesn't have the 850 band, which is the primary band for 3G, where as 1900 is usually used for voice over GSM and EDGE data.
Has anyone ever been able to figure out how to activate the 3G in the T8282 Radio? I know this was discuussed a while back and there was lots of controversy over whether it could work...
I have searched for updated answers and found nothing as to the current status of this issue.
Just want to know before I go ahead and sell my Blackstone. Great phone but Edge is too slow for me. If you are interested in buying mine PM me. I only used it a couple of months primarily for this reason and it is in pristine condition.
It is unlocked T8282 and using it on AT&T network in USA.
afaik you can't do it, i'ts an hardware limitation and software is not related.
fast way to fix it? sell your t8282 and buy a t8285
T8285 or is it
How can you tell?
I bought a supposed T8285 and after installing Topix 3.1.2 it won't connect to 3G anymore just E
Now when I look at the Hardware Identity it says T8282... then how could Ihave had a 3G and H connections?
check setting
check if 3G is enabled if not enable it and config the setting 2 auto .
I have T8282 and it has 3G/H ^^
