Video Encoding - Settings for Tilt? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Greets,
I have a bunch of sample video files I had encoded into 3GP format for my e815 phone.
Now that I have a tilt, I would like to reecode them appropriately.
Does anyone know what formats and video screen dimensions would be optimal for video on the tilt?
Thanks!

This question has been answered many times! Encode the videos in AVI (divx) format with the dimension of 320x240 and use TCPMP to watch them.

TCPMP problem
I use the TCPMP app to play AVI files with no problems. I downloaded a podcast (MP4) but TCPMP says that this codec was removed. Tried with the WM player and it also does not read the format. I can convert the MP4 files to AVI format but it's a pain to do so.
Does anyone know how to put the codec back into TCPMP?

you could try the retail version of TCPMP... COREPLAYER.
It is still under development, even if it's already available to consumers, so the features aren't complete yet compared to TCPMP...
If you still want to use TCPMP, I would suggest looking for the AVC plugin for it...
The filename I think is AVC.plg. Don't know where to find it though...
The codec was removed because of license issues, you can download it from certain sites and put it back, but it's against the law to do so.
I'm using Sompy MovieEncoder it's work pretty good and it's free. It's compress 750 mb video file to about 150 mb. You can get it from download.com under mobile section

DVD to HTC Diamond Touch

Hi all,
Just would like to know if anyone has had the time and the patience to figure out which program to use to rip a Dvd to what ever format is required to watch on the Diamond.
Anyone know what format the files should be???
I have tried CloneDVD Mobile & ImToo Dvd Ripper. However every time I've tried after transfer It can't be read.
I've tried - Mp4 - MPEG-4 multiple types, to Xvid even Iphone & Blackberry MPEG-4 formats.
I had an AVI music video file that I tried sync'ing through WMP just to test it and it worked however quality was absolutely shocking. a 60 mg H Def good looking video on a 17" WSGA screen get transfered and come out looking like a crappy pixelated washed out 16 colour type thing on a 2.8" vga screen.
Anyway
If anybody has sus'd this issue out and has some answers. It would be appreciated
Cheers all and everybody that will or has ever given any help to anyone on this site or not.

A godd all round freeware program is Super. The User Interface isn't great but you can convert to pretty much any format and also change the fps, audio quality, pic size etc. The link is below
http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html
You have to go through 2 pages of crap and on the 3rd page is the download link. Tried to put up link for final page, but it just re-directs you!!
Hope this helps
http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/
I use this to convert avis, choose a suitable resolution then lower the audio and video quality settings for smoother playback
Thanks for the quick response Nindy & Timbermill.
I will check them out and holla out the findings.
Timbermill, I maybe wrong but as far as I was aware DivX encoded files cannot be played on the Diamond. Only MPEG4 encoded files
However, can ask you guys what format and settings are you transfering your files to for the diamond?
Cheers again
Here's another nice (and free) tool:

I use TCPMP to view my video files, it's great for divx

.MP4 Conversion to .WMV / .MPG

Friends,
I noticed that the video recorder uses .mp4 to encode video.
What free apps that are on the market these days can encode to other
formats?
I noticed there are only two options .mp4 and h.263
Please advise!
Thank You,
Tvos
A program called "Super" will convert almost anything to anything! well worth a look.
Yep Super is a good tool, but the website to download it can be a real pain.
Handbrake is great if you have a Mac.
This looks rather cool too: http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
On the flipside:
The Free version of Any Video Converter hass a nice beginners user friendly interface:
http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
Input formats:
avi, asf, mov, rm, rmvb
flv, mkv, mpg
3gp, m4v, and vob
Output formats:
avi, wmv, mp4, 3gp
wmv and flv
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2
mpg (PAL or NTSC)
yah you are correct about 'super' being a pain..took me about five minutes to scroll thru all that mumbo jumbo!
i will try both products super and any dvd to see if this does the quick job!
what format is better to use: mp4 or h.263?
thank you,
tvos
super didn't convert the mp4.. ran into problems with that application and the other couldn't read it.

Video Convertor

Hi... Which video Converter is the best for Diamond, and which video format is best (mp4, 3gp)
thx
No needs special converter for "Diamond" , You can use any video converter..
or use other players like CorePlayer so u can play without convertion..
I m using Ulead VideoStudio to convert files, in fact just to make them little
smaller to save place and I convert them to MP4 and windows medial player can play them too...
either use coreplayer for .avi or a 3gp convertor for x-vid quality but resized to 3gp (best looking imo)

1- you dont need to counvert video file anymore jast use coreplayer
2- mp4 have greater video and sound quality than 3gp
PocketDivXEncoder
Although WMP won't play the encoded files, a lot of other player will. And it does a fair bit of resizing (480x640). Above all, it's free and works brilliantly. Download it here! Cheers

I'm also interested in this question. While no conversion is needed with coreplayer, in action movies it can get choppy. Since there's colors that are lost, some trimming could make it a smoother and space efficient file, while maintaining video quality.
I tried many setting and found something between small files and good quality:
with Ulead VideStudio (or other software)
MPEG-4 Files
24 Bits, 192 x 144, 12 fps
Frame-based
MPEG-4 SP Video: 200 Kbps
32000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 64 Kbps
This setting is good for other device as well..
go with the xvid/divx encoding

Program to recode from .avi to .mp4/.3gp & embed subtitles

I need to find a program that can recode from .avi to .mp4/.3gp , resize to 320x240 and embed subtitles in the video.
I have tried several with bad or no result. If you know of such a program I would be very happy to know.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112 << try this. not too sure on embedding subtitles. never use them so far.
If anyone interested the solution is:
PocketDivXEncoder: Resize & hard-code subtitle embed from .avi to .avi 320x240
Yamb: Transform file format from .avi to .mp4 without recoding.
hello,I suppose you can try AVI to 3GP Converter.
my3gpconverter.com/avi-to-3gp-converter.html
With this free MOV Movie Maker, you can add subtitles and watermarks, apply transitions, change the video image, as well as attach music and crop the video.
Code:

This is an old thread. Nowadays there are numerous of apps that can do this like ImToo, Xilisoft video converter and many more. Also AviRecomp is great if you only want to embed subs and/or resize.

Re: AVI to MP4
Hi,
I think you can search the "AVI to MP4" keyword in google, then the best choice will appear in the first page normally.
Refer to video converters, I often use Kvisoft video to flash converter to do MP4 to FLV conversion, AVI to FLV conversion etc.
With the video conversion software, I can convert videos of any format to FLV flash videos in batches for better online sharing.
Good benefits of Kvisoft Video to Flash converter:
1. Convert Any Video to FLV and SWF
2. Edit Flash Video as you like:
Watermark video with text and image;
Merge various videos into one;
Crop video size;
Clip video into smaller parts;
Adjust the effect of video.
3. NO quantity limitation, so batch conversion is allowed.
