I put one of my AOL accounts onto my Tilt using AT&T xpress mail, and I want to remove it now because that account is just a bit too busy (spam) and it's not as important as my main email address. Plus I can always use wap.aol.com to check it anyway.
I go into messages and highlight the account and choose delete and nothing happens.
I went back into xpress mail and theres no option for removal.
How can I get this account off my phone?
Can you remove xpressMail from your installed programs? Or was it part of your ROM?
I was just looking to get rid of the account it created, not the program itself, but if I have to I could delete the program, it's listed in remove programs area.
Yes, you cannot delete the account without removing the program. If you wanted to set up another account, you remove the software, then re-install the software and go thru the account setup again.
BUT A WARNING: make sure you have deleted your XpressMail account online BEFORE you remove the XpressMail software from your phone. Otherwise, its possible you will get a series of SMS "pings" that will not stop and can come at you as often as 10 a minute. Basically, log in to you Xpress Mail account online and tell it to stop sending you email (or any other notification), then delete the account. Then remove the software.
I cant seem to find an online option for deleting the account. There's an Xpress Mail Professional Edition registration/login area on AT&T's site but I dont see anything for the personal edition.
How do I go about canceling the account online before I delete the program?
Its been a while since i did it. I don't remember how I did it. If I happen to find it, I'll post it.
EDIT: I used personal edition also. Basically, log in here: https://xpressmail.cingular.com/subscriber/login.stp
and there should be an option to remove your accounts. This is in essence deletes your account.
If this doesn't work for whatever reason, or you start getting the SMS msgs when you remove the software, refer to my posts (esp. the last one) here:

Thanks.
I think I managed to do it from the phone though. I went into xpress mail settings and I choose the option to remove all account data (removed all emails from the account) and then I choose the "Re-Register" option, which deletes the account completely and then walks you through setup again. I choose that but after the account was deleted I just exited the program instead of recreating the account.
cool, glad u got it worked out. i just know myself and others had issues.

so my question is what if you removed the Xpressmail software before you remove your email, how do you stop/remove your email from Xpressmail afterward? will it automatically remove after a certain time?

Any emails deleted off Gmail server WILL disappear off your phone. Your phone is only a client to the server and reflects what is there. You would have to create a new 'folder' in Inbox such as 'Saved' on your WM device and copy them there (before you delete on the server) to save them.

would it be possible to save them into outlook on the phone? i tired to do that before, but i didn't see were you could move it from gmail to outlook unless you did it via active sync, but that means i'd have to be at a computer everytime. Or is there another program were i dont have to move an email everytime so it doesn't get deleted?

No, the mail client on WM devices is a very basic cut-down version compared to a PC, you can only move files within each service, not to and from services. There may be 3rd party app's out that do this.
Soz.
well i wont be able to create a new folder with gmail, because it doesn't allow you to, you can only create what's called "labels" so it looks like i may have to find a program that will allow me to keep the emails on my phone while i can delete them off the sever, any suggestions? preferably something free and easy to use. Or is there a way to use the outlook provided to receive the emails and keep them even if i delete them off the server similar to how desktop outlook works, w/o having to use active sync?

I don't personally as I prefer to use pop accounts that I have more control over. I am sure someone else on here will be able to help you with that.
One last thought, do you have another email account with Gmail (not used it myself but some of these give you more than one logon) or even set up another Gmail account called <username>backup and have your mail forwarded by your first to your second (via Gmail online settings) and then set the second up on your WM device also. When you delete from the first, the second will remain!
Just a thought!
Hi,
I know some of you have suffered from disappearing mail when using WM to download mail from Gmail via POP and I believe there have been some work arounds (using recent: and/or setting your WM6 to not download the entire smg), but I've never been really satisfied with them. Well, since I have a TILT, thought I'd ask my fellow Tilt folks to try this out.
In any case, I tried this workaround and it seems to be working. If someone would be nice enough to double check my steps to see if this works for you, this just might solve the whole GMail/POP/WM6 mishaps.
BTW, as a discalimer, I don't know if someone's come up with this type of solution!
Ok, we'll need two Gmail accounts, one that is your PRIMARY-GMAIL account and then you have your SECONDARY-GMAIL account (bear with me, it'll become clear why in a bit).
Typically, your PRIMARY-GMAIL is the account you receive all of your mail and from which reply from.
Your SECONDARY-GMAIL account (either create one or use one that you already have) is the account from which you'll download mail from with your Windows Mobile device.
Setup your PRIMARY-GMAIL account to "forward a copy of your mail" to your SECONDARY-GMAIL account and "keep Gmail's copy in the inbox"
Enable POP on your SECONDARY-GMAIL account.
On your Windows Mobile device, create a new email account and manually configure to download mail from your SECONDARY-GMAIL account and set it up to download 50kb.
On your Windows Mobile device, set up the OUTGOING server to NOT use the same credentials and then put in the credentials of your PRIMARY-GMAIL account.
That's it! When you receive email to your PRIMARY-GMAIL account, it's forwarded to your SECONDARY-GMAIL account. Your WM device will download mail from this Gmail account. When you reply from your WM device, your WM device will use the credentials of your PRIMARY-GMAIL account and because of the way GMail's interface works, it uses your PRIMARY-GMAIL account as the SENT FROM. Thus to the rest of the world, you downloaded/received it off your PRIMARY-GMAIL account but to you, it's downloaded from your SECONDARY-GMAIL account, but replied/sent from your PRIMARY-GMAIL account. You should be able to download/receive the entire message now without fear of email disappearing from your PRIMARY-GMAIL account.
Sorry, it might sound confusing and convoluted, but this seems to be working for me. No more worries of disappearing messages, etc etc. Would anyone else mind testing this out?
Thoughts?
Thanks!
pretty good workaround. I just use IMAP however.
Um yeah, why use POP when IMAP works now? Pop SUCKS!

Just go to "messaging" from "start" and open e-mail accounts.
You can delete or add new accounts from this application.

hi,
thank you for the reply, but my case a bit strange.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404851&highlight=email+account
I can see the account icon shows at the right hand side (TouchFlo3D interface), but when i click at "Menu"->"Accounts"->"Accounts...", the email account didn't listed there
Therefore, I try to create for another email acount and use back the same account name, the system prompt me that I have to use a different account name (eg. Yahoo!) as the email account name already in use (although there is no any email account listed there). So, I change the account name to "Yahoo!-2" and now in the account list only listed this newly created email account (but the dummy email account i created still remain invicible and cannot get rid of it). Please help
I have a strange email issue on my WP8. I use Yaho Mail if that matters; the problem is that when a new email comes in it deletes the one before so I always only have one email in inbox..
Is it deleting also from the server side? Did you try to delete whole account and setup again?

Yeah, I've actually deleted it a few times now. I don't know what is up with Windows Phone where it won't remember my account password even though it is entered correctly; after a while it will say your attention is required and I have to delete it and add it back so it can work. I use to have this issue with Windows Phone 7 and thought that it would be addressed in 8. I'll have to check on the server side.
Okay I found out the issue but I don't get it. When I go to Yaho mail, all my email is in the Trash I moved everything back to the inbox and it shows up on the phone. However when I open my Outlook it sends all of my Yahoo mail to the trash but only online
Ok, I cant really test because Im not using that email. Do you have some settings on your server side that could affect this, also does your service provider offer alternative servers for downloading email?
You probably have the account setup as IMAP, you could use POP and set the settings so it does not delete emails after downloading etc?

---Blank Message---
I have a Pixel 5 that I've been using Outlook on because I hate the gmail client, which has been working fine until now, when I'm trying to add a new Exchange account. I'm having two issues that may be somewhat related or not. As part of moving to the new server, I had to remove my old account. Before doing so, I moved all of my contacts from that account to the device. When I selected them all and then selected 'Move to another account', I was given the choice of moving to the device or to google. As I DO NOT want want my contacts in google, I moved them to my device. I then removed my old account, and proceeded to try to set up Outlook for my new account, which I end up getting 'The connection to your mail server times out. Please check your mail settings.'. The settings are correct, and other mail apps (gmail, nine, etc) work fine. Only Outlook refuses. About the only thing I've been able to find is Microsoft claiming it's because TLS 1.0 and/or 1.1 are enabled or it's a certificate issue. Well, it's not. The certificate is proper and trusted, and only TLS 1.2 is enabled on the server, 1.0 & 1.1 are disabled. Microsoft 'testconnectivity' site confirms that all is proper and functioning, including activesync.
I more or less gave up on Outlook for now, although if someone knows something I haven't found that'll make it work, that would be appreciated, however, at least for now, I decided to give Nine a shot, which may be a viable option. But that's where my other issue comes in. When I moved all of my contacts from my old account to my device, I was given the option of moving to my device or to my gmail account. Now, with my contacts on my device, when I select them all and try to move them, the only option is the gmail account. The 'Contacts' from the Nine app show up in the list of accounts when I go to select what account I want 'Contacts' to look in, and when I move a contact into my Exchange contacts, it shows up on my phone, and if I try to move the contact synced from Exchange via Nine, it give me the device and gmail options, but the phone refuses to give me an option to move my contacts that are on the phone anywhere other than gmail. Does anyone have any ideas why?
Thanks
Just to add - I dug out my old HTC phone and charged it up to do some further testing... using it's 'Exchange Activesync for HTC Sense' (which, in my opinion, is probably the best, most straightforward e-mail client I've ever used on an android phone), it works PERFECTLY. No stupidness, syncs things as expected, contacts and all. I set my account up on an older ipad that doesn't run the latest ios and thus won't run outlook, but with the native app, works perfectly. But my Pixel doesn't seem to know what the heck it wants to do. It seems like everything other than 'Outlook for Android' and my pixel knows what it should be doing and just does it, but my pixel is just out there running circles in the cornfield..... I also saw some bit where I could select WHICH contact lists to sync where there were more than one in the account, but I haven't been able to find that again, and have moved all 'contacts' folders out into a PST so that it's not trying to sync all of the different contacts folders when it does decide to sync something.
