are you bored of your iPhone yet? are the features getting old? do you miss windows mobile? Do you have anything to look forward to?
should have kept your Kaiser...
Oh good... another useful thread.
Reporting to close. . .
I'd rather have a kaiser of an iphone. Although, I'm pretty sure people are able to make some kind of software for the iPhone now. hacking it or something.
I had the iPhone and I came to the kaiser. Its called jailbreaking, once you do that an app called installer shows up and you install apps from there.

1.1.3 is full of apps now. I actually use the iPhone a little bit more than the Kaiser today. Just because I wanted to see what's all the fuss was about with 1.1.3. But hey iPhone and Kaiser are both great devices, that can not be compared.
You can compare a Kaiser vs. Touch, or iPhone vs. Prada. Both are very different devices. Those who say same old functions, what do you mean same ole functions, both devices are packed with apps.

iPhone = silly cell phone that pretends to be and costs like a PDA

Kaiser way better
Anyone who gets a iphone is a very silly person.....Kaiser has so many apps. and programs that iphone doesn't

I'll take it farther - I'll take Windows over Mac any day.
Heck I'd rather use Win98 than latest Mac OS.
And this one time, at band camp..............
I would take Lepord over Vista and WM over OSX Mobile. Mac's win in the computer's side but not on the Mobile side.
you can keep ur kaiser and ur iphone.........my firefly pwns them both
Ahahaha, like that will ever happen. . .
haha..
the iphone...
i had 1.. also my uncle had 1..
we played... we had fun!!!...
but....
then it came sooo repetitive...
the same things always...
then i sold it...
and my uncle too =) ...
haha..
is just funny.. i had both devices..
well i have my kaiser because it has more apps, productivity and some Business Man Style.. iphone was for me more like a psp than a pda =)
*too the first 2 repliers**
i made this thread not to gain any new apps or prosper from, but just for talk. to hear opinions and compare the 2. yea there are other threads like it, but i dont find this thread pointless, perhaps it's just the wording I used.
so it appears most people went with the iphone and then they realized everything was the same. yea there are apps for Mac OS but not enough to make you wanna keep the phone. the emulators for the iphone arent that great either, all screen and not really stable.
ok.. for that is the off-topic so..
maybe a "Social Room" will solve things like this
i.e: a social room in kaiser section for kaiser users =)

ive seen another forum where on the front page there is some sort of IM thing, that would be nice. users just talk on the front page.

Does anyone know if there is a Emulator for N64 that would work on the diamond?
looking around, everyone says its not possible because of the hardware... but this was a year ago, before the Diamond

Nonsense, here the link:http://www.pocketplayers.info/Jooml...ard&Itemid=32&func=view&catid=10&id=2326#2326
Check the date, it was a april fool.
Nope, we are not a warez site, sorry... ^^
But CharlyV is right, it was our joke for april fools' days this year.
We didnt expect it would get that much attention... our report about the dreamcast emulator didnt last that long in other boards...
Hm? Since when is emulation considered 'warez'??
Iagree with krakout! If you have an original copy of the game...I have the psx with many games, but she's dead..i'm very happy to return in my favorite game with my diamond or my PC! The better psx game doesn't exist in PC (like ff9 by example..)
In general, and in fora the world over, emulation-related talk is always considered ok. Linking to ROM files MAY or may NOT be ok (for some systems and/or companies it is), but that's another story. What is the forum's policy?
For instance, I'm trying to make CaPriCe32 work on my Diamond. CaPriCe32 is an Amstrad CPC emulator; now, Amstrad has given permission for its ROMs to be distributed and used freely, so...?
We only offer emulators, but usually not any roms, isos or bios-files.
The only roms we offer are those that are officially freeware (some games like FOTAQ or BASS for ScummVM) or that are distributed by the companies themselves (Cinemare for example, who offer roms to their classics themselves).
@krakout (best akanoid clone for c64 btw ^^): Amstrad roms are really free? That would be great, then i could offer a selection of games in this case as well.
I was refering to the site as being a Warez site, so i couldnt like to it.
It was on a German site about a month ago, didnt understand much of it, but from a rough translation they thought it was going to be released soon...
So, is there any reason for there not to be a emulator?

(krakout was plain great on the CPC as well, only less brownish )
I used the word ROM literally here: Amstrad has given away the code for the machines' ROM chips, so I wasn't referring to the games themselves.
That said, there are hundreds, if I'm not mistaken, titles whose rights holders have given them to the public; I think those rights have been researched and you can find everything at TACGR.
Oh okay, i misunderstood the rom part here... ^^
I thought TACGR is down?
Ah yes it is, but then again, plenty of places to find the disk images... All the TACGR contents have been compiled into a GOODCPC ROM archive anyway (which I've been seeding on torrents for a long time now myself).
PM if you need any details
Does anyone know why is it so difficult to get a N64 emulator to work on a ppc when ps1 emulators work fine- I get around 50-80 fps on my HD2.
Are N64's actually more graphically demanding?
hey.. im wondering the same thing. I have a sprint touch pro 2 running FPSEce and it works fine. i would assume N64 roms would be much less taxing on the phone since its alot less memroy and ram needed to run it
Sweet!
Imagine that playing Golden Eye on your Hd2....
As above - Chl 5 8pm tonight
i doubt this will be usefull or give you the result you hope for.
I doubt they will even know, let alone try, about flashing and the massive advantages this gives. I doubt they will touch on the various 3rd party apps that really make this phone and instead, will focus on a standard "factory fit" which, lets face it, is a bit crap. Will they cover the fact that this phone is an exellent business tool (oh how i miss TV/VGA out ... )
I also doubt they will mention the Iphones failings, its 2.0 software disaster, its "push" (yeerrr right!) email or the fact people are having there entire contacts and calendars being wiped out in front of them or again that they STILL can't change batteries
I see them going for the Iphone.
Who knows, Germans have choosen Diamond as a best phone on the world with iPhone as a 2nd with quite big adventage. Who knows, maybe those people will make some big review and will compare those phones in every aspect.

The Gadget Show IMO is only of use to morons - the sort who go to Currys etc and believe the 'salesmen' when they say they need a £80 monster hdmi cable. They never set things up properly and i'll guarantee they haven't flashed the roms etc. I know you shouldn't really need to but thats my point, gadget show is for people who don't know nothing!

I watch the gadget show because some of it well put together and you can tell the producers/presenters do know what they are talking about even if they do have to dumb it down for a maintream tv audience somewhat.
As regards the flashing issue, I doubt they will go into it in detail but why should they? Most users don't know about it and if you did tell them they probably wouldnt want to be bothered with it anyway. Its a big time sink just for a setting up a mobile, which should really have been done by HTC in the first place.

Thanks for the link, i hadn't realised before how crappy that show is, are they trying to be Top Gear or something! They're doing camera shots of the pavement that are so quick the phones blurred! And if the presenter emphasised his words anymore he'd explode.
In that video, that kind of test is always going to be about looks, if you even try to use the phone you wont know how because youve only had 5 seconds with it so all they can compare is looks, size, weight etc and go on what the presenters say.
Two things immediately spring to mind on watching the clip - Apple has spent a fortune on promoting the iphone, so that anyone who watches TV will have an idea how it works - if the touch screen from the Diamond had been given similar video tutorials on primetime TV, no doubt a lot of people would find the interface just as user friendly.
The other factor is the Apple effect - people feel that Apple has a brand value akin to Richard Branson's woolly jumpers - all cuddly and vaguely environmental/hippy chic. I prefer to be apart from the crowds, not queueing to buy on the basis of marketing hype.
Well I'm definitely sending my Diamond back. The one they had on the gadget show had a hardware keyboard and a Nokia label. Mine has neither.

I suppose you are right in a sense, they didn't give the HTC a proper review ... as they didnt have one!
I stopped watching the gadget show a few years ago because i get the feeling that they really dont know what they are talking about, the reveiws and tests that they do are completley stupid and of course they are given more money to say good things about certain products.
There was an episode i flicked onto the other month, and they had picked out a bunch of HD TV's an said they were gonna get the best experts in the country to give them a thouogh testing to see which one was the best! So they took them to the tech guys (pc worlds attempt at making ppl think that their getting good advice!) who stood about 2 foot away from the screens an said that none of them were particaully good and then said the most expencive one wa no good because it was a Plasma set and could suffer from screen burn!
In short the show is biased to whoever pays them the most money to give the best review!!!1!!!
Right now the Diamond is the best phone on the market and that includes the iPhone. But I think it will be my last Windows Mobile phone, it all depends on whether Apple can fix the shortcomings of iPhone next time around. The main reasons I will jump is because
1) The iPhones slick UI and large screen
2) iPhone is getting better developer support than Windows Mobile - eg where are the windows mobile facebook, myspace and shaznam apps? they dont exist. Imagine the situation in 12 months!
3) Storage - 4GB is too small. 16 an above.. much nicer.
Things Apple need to improve for me to jump ship
- Bluetooth file exchange
-A2DP
-MMS
-Video calling
-Open up the phone - let me use it as a USB storage device, let me dump media on it without itunes
- VGA screen?
- Let me sync tasks over exchange
- Support external storage cards?
Thats really it for me, and they are getting close. I do love Windows Mobile but its the lack of developer support now that irks me. It never used to be this way, but now sadly use Windows Mobile users are being ignored.
First off, Apple loves to keep you in their little world, so you'll never be able to use an iPhone outside of iTunes to transfer files. Second, most of the Apps cost money, the WinMo availability of freeware is above and beyond IMO. Third, why not just wait around for a Touch Pro (up to 32GB) if you want memory card support? I agree with you in some ways, the iPhone has a very appealing UI and big screen, but I can't say I'll be converting any time soon. I'll leave the iPhone 3G to my girlfriend and be happy with a Touch Pro, whenever that may be. Best of luck with whichever device you choose, hope your cellular experience is a good one.
Well in terms of UI - yeah the Diamond works well. The main thing that concerns me is developer support, and im noticing this as my other half has a 3G iphone now. Nothing new is being developed for windows mobile, yet the app store continues to thrive.
Have you used facebook on iphone, its amazing - I can view all my contacts pictures in full screen high quality. Now the Diamond has a higher resolution screen.. so wheres its facebook app.. oh right there isnt one. Same with myspace, same with skybymobile, same with shaznam, same with ebay - there just isnt the support for windows mobile anymore, so this is going way beyond the matter of UI and frills
As for storage - come on! would it have killed HTC to put a micro SD slot in the Diamond? The Touch Pro is ugly and obese, not an option for me
I need communications.
What the f** should I want facebook and all those other crap site need for ???
If you need phone for entertainment get yourself that I phone. But I need it for my business and I'd be ashamed to hold up an I phone in front of customers.
It's that little toy thing, an I phone. The diamond isn't and does the job with sms, calling, exchange, activesyncing, emailing, easy to use, and some photo's videos just as good not better.
I get tired of these topics.
There's a program for eBay but it's $3.99 a month I think, as for MySpace, MySpace Mobile? I don't know, but once SkyFire releases it won't matter... It'll all be as good as we've ever seen it.

Wrong - this thread is very necessary. Its about improving the diamond through developement.
We all agree that the diamond has a fantastic spec right? Well how many apps out there are taking advantage of its technology? The facebook thing was an example. I mean there is not decent facebook app for a VGA screen - no shazam app for windows mobile professional at all. Im not comparing apples with oranges but the Diamond's features are not being fully exploited. Why are developers jumping ship? Windows mobile used to be kick ass for developer support.
We will have more high end WM devices soon, touch pro, omnia, xperia... so whats the excuse?

No one is slagging off the Diamond. I love mine, its a fantasic device - my concern is that windows mobile is losing developer support rapidly, and as a concequence the diamond has no real support for VGA apps that take advantage of its hardware.

Ya...in looking over my wife's iPhone3G I am quite impressed with the quantity and quality (visually) of free software available for the iPhone...and the iPhone is still in its infancy when you compare it to Windows Mobile. Hopefully Microsoft's upcoming App Store will promote more development on Windows Mobile.
Having said this...I wouldn't trade my Diamond for an iPhone...but the free apps are definitely impressive over there.
Another trend that I am starting to find annoying is the huge price difference between iPhone and Windows Mobile application.
Case in point;
Bookworm on WM: $9.99 per http://www.astraware.com/ppc/featured/bookworm/?skucode=0058-000-0045
Bookworm on iPhone: $0.99 as per http://www.popcap.com/games/iphone/bookworm
Not only is the iPhone version of the game 1/10 the cost of the Windows Mobile game...it is better...with better graphics and more features.

If you want games, get a PSP or a Ipod Touch.
Keep your Diamond for the important things, GPS, music, organiser etc...

and? still the same question, how do you know whats "usefull" for me?
The point is, dont tell people whats important or usefull for them if you dont know them and their needs or desires. Just let them decide..
Makes me really sick this ignorant atittude...

Hey, I'll take that link too please.
here linky linky
I'd like the fabled link to goodies for my diamond, please.
Many hours on the crapper at work playing solitaire
Sorry didn't mean to be ignorant, just meant that the Diamond really isn't designed for games, where as the Ipod touch/iphone/psp/ds have a dedicated graphics chip, these devices are much more focuses towards games and media than the diamond, the diamond has fantastic abilities for GPS navigation, business applications, time management and all round usability.
I shall say it again, if you want your diamond for gaming, then perhaps you chose the wrong device.
But yes there are some simple addictive games, the odd 3D style game like NFS, but still will not even compare to a dedicated games machine
