okay -- my gprs connection disappears after a day or so and i have to make another connection -- if i give it the previous name then i am told that the connection already exists. any way around
second problem is that i am using bluetooth headset and i can hear songs on it but no calls -- i can hear only a loud hiss. is it a known issue and is there a way aoound it??
The Bluetooth is a known, and very "annoying"problem to say the least. The trouble is that it is not clear where it comes from. It seems to affect also ppl who have upgraded their firmware...
And in the best end-user support tradition, neither the manufacturer (HTC) nor the distributor (O2 et al) even bother to acknowledge it or say if they intend to fix it.
Are you sure the GPRS actually dissapears? There is a known problem where it will not re-connect,if you put it into flight mode and then back out of flight mode you may find the GPRS wil re-connect. As for the BT issue, have you recently upgraded the rom? The 169 version from O2 had known BT headset issues.
I will answer both the questions -- firstly regarding the upgradation of the radio version -- i have not upgraded the firmware as far the bluetooth is concerned but i did upgrade the radio version. but the fact remains that i can hear the songs being played on the media player. what i am looking for is some tweak or a setting i am missing. i have already tried to uninstall and install the drivers again but i have had no joy.
regarding the gprs a soft reset is helping but yes -- it does disappear. and the fact is though i cannot find the first connection i made, i a told that i cannot make the next connection with the old name. can i know what speeds i would be getting over the gprs connection anyway??
thanks a ton
I've received a used LG Style-i in hopes of having a decent bluetooth headset with good sound quality.
I've run into an issue that others have mentioned in different posts....
The Style-i loses it's connection and reconnects very frequently. And every time it reconnects it pulls up the voice dialer on the phone.
I have an HTC Advantage x7501 (WM6).
Has anybody found a solution to this?

I did not have the reconnect/connect issue (unless I walked out of range and then returned), but yes the voice dialer activation was a pain in the ass.
I removed the ssdamon from startup and hacked the registry to it was disabled and then installed ms voice command and problem solved. But everytime I hard reset, the problem returned...
the best solution is to install a rom without the cyberon crap voice dialer...see the black rom..it does not come with a voice dialer.
No constant reconnects here - occasionally loses the connection but its the same with eth Athena and all headsets I have tried so far....
I put up with the occasional 'SAY COMMAND...' and 'GOODBYE...' in that innocuous accent as i think the Cyberon dialler is more flexible than the MS one....
I don't get any reconnection issues, but my problem with it is that after upgrading to the new WM6 I can't seem to get Speed Dial to work from the handset any more except (weirdly) for speed dial #1, voicemail, which still works fine.
Does/did anyone else have this issue, and if so how did you solve it? Thanks in advance!
same problem
I'm having the same problem. I wonder if they are defective?
I just bought on eBay one silver OEM i-Style... where did you get yours? I'm becoming afraid.

I have bought two silver (Verizon Branded) and two Black (LG Branded), all from e-Bay. I use one daily with Athena, two are used by my sons, one with an HTC Universal one with a Wizard. Fourth was sold to a friend of my son's for use with the TM Wing. All are using WM6, the Athena and the Uni use Jetware Mobile BT extension 1.31. The others did not need it. Athena uses Cyberon VC, while the Uni and the Wing use MS VC 1.6. Other than the 'say command' on first connect, there are no issues with dropping connections or other annoyances. You can see in my signature which ROM's are in use. (the WING is running PDAVIET's modified Touch ROM)
yes, ebay

I'm afraid I got mine on ebay too. I'm hoping I can fiddle around with some settings and solve the problem. It does make me wonder, though since some folks aren't having any problems. my advantage has the latest rom on it, too.
I haven't been able to find anything on the web about warranty work on the style-i. When I do a search on the lg site, it says it can't find any matching products??? I've searched under "style-i" and " "hbm-700" Any thoughts on this? Mine is supposedly new, and I thought I'd try to get a replacement under the warranty.
I'm going to try and pair it with my wife's cheapo LG CU400 cell phone and see if it has the same problems. Maybe then I'll know if it's the device or some conflict with the HTC software.
Not on LG Web Site
When I researched the LG Style-I, it seems that is is an orphan product. It was a very clever notion, conceived when cell phones were a bit bigger and there were no sleek and slender phones like the RAZR. By the time LG designed, tested, built and launched it, small phones totally passed it by.
Most folks look at it and say, "Why do I need it?" Well, with so many small phones out there to choose from, they don't need it, so Verizon and LG dumped the product on to the close-out market and cut their losses after one large production run (I am guessing). We who have bricks for phones PDA's), need to get them now if we want them, 'cause once they're gone, it's back to the earpieces. If your e-bay source was a cellphone shop, you may get a replacement/exchange. If not, you probably won't find a warranty anywhere, certainly not Verizon on the Silvers and not from LG on the Black ones.
I don't want to mention the eBay shop until I receive and test the Style-I.
As soon as I received and tested I will let you know the results and the name of the shop.
hello!
Same problem here. tried both black and silver.

common defect?
I tried the style-i with my wife's cheapo phone and it did the same thing. It must be some kind of design flaw that's present a specific run of the chips. too bad, because it seems to be a great idea for the advantage. however, I'm reluctant to chance buying another, knowing it might be bad again.
Mine worked perfectly with WM5 before I upgraded, I can't imagine it failed at exactly the same time I moved to WM6. I'm just not clever enough to know how to work out *why* it stopped being able to speed-dial (save for the VoiceMail speed-dial, which still works) - but presumably it's the new OS, not the Style-i.
Hi,
I have a t-mobile ameo with the HTC official wm6 rom and have no problems
with connection or voice commands....once connected and paired
I just say the contact name and it dials no probs
my problem is that when i pair the style-i with x7500, it auto starts the cyberon voice dial....
after paired, i have no problems at all...
best regards
deiota
I can connect and pair OK, and I still get to use the Style-i to take incoming calls, it's just making calls with keypad Speed Dial (not Voice Dialling) since upgrading to WM6 (as I said, except to voicemail) which has stopped.
Heh! So I upgrade to the PK Black Touch ROM and suddenly my Style-i works *perfectly* again - guess it was some basic incompatibility with the HTC WM6 BT implementation.
Anyway, I'm happy again (nice ROM too)!
Style-i with X7501 Running PK 3.0...
This combination seems to be working A-OK together. I just got my LG Style-i from ebay seller "cmgwireless". It is Verizon branded and came with everything except a retail package (including lanyard, earbud, wall charger, and documentation). I would recommend anyone looking for a Style-i buy from him.
İ have HTC TYTN II. when i start to talking with phone, the person who iam talking with, says; ur voice is decreasing.. and in a while my voice is not going the other person.. cause of this i have to close the phone and call that person again..
what should i have to do?? to stable the microphone volume.. all volume bars are at the top.. is there any other fonction about microphone??
my rom: Schap's WM6 Pro 4.22 ROMs
my radio: 1.27.12.11
Have you looked at your microphone AGC setting? It might be dynamically changing during a call. Try disabling AGC via: Settings-> System -> Microphone AGC.
it was disabled, and i changed it to enabled..
(i tried this before, but it didnt change anything)
any other opinions??
I has the same problem with the voice volume in a call.
any solutions??
I've just come off the phone with HTC, Handtec & Hugh Symons (Handtec's supplier) complaining of this exact same problem.
My TyTn 2 has suffered from this problem since the day of purchase (04/09/07) and nobody seems to know what's wrong. Handtec have refused to replace the phone (despite contacting them 4 days after purchase) and HTC are unable to replace it as they do not sell any phones... they rely on distribution gateways like Hugh Symons.
I'm very, VERY disappointed and feel I've completely wasted £440 on a "phone" (I use that term loosely) which simply cannot be used.
Having found another thread on XDA forums a few weeks ago, I relayed this info to HTC to be told
"trouble is with XDA forums and other similar sites, you tend to get several replies from users who think they have the same problem, but it's actually something entirely different"
That may be true, but I doubt that's the case on this occasion.
I wish I'd stuck with my Mio A701! Their support was awful, but at least the phone worked.
Oops...
I'm also running Schaps firmware, but I've suffered from this from day one... running HTC's firmware.
The only difference (as far as I can see) is that the Schaps firmware makes it go like a rocket. Very stable (though it didn't crash before tbh) but it's the speed which really impresses.
so what should we doo.. i can do everything with this machine, but cant use it as phone lol.. its funyy..
so we should send lots of mails to htc service.. maybe we can take their attention..
Firstly, a big thank you to all contributors here, for the first time I thought I would contact HTC re problems with the diamond and believe me, I won't ever bother again with HTC support.
Over the years I've had many HTC devices and like many people here, have a strong understanding on subjects like push email. I just can't believe how difficult it is to talk to anyone from support areas regarding issues. I just thought HTC technical dept may be different, but sadly they are not.
The issues I have are (they have been discussed before but the threads have died with no solution)
1) Bluetooth headset, when disconnecting causes the Diamond to loose abilty to make any sound, be it ringing, alarm or music. This is random and only a soft reset cures the problem.
HTC response, Only HTC branded bluetooth devices are supported, tough!
2) Push E-mail, randomly forgets to check back with the server to see if their is a conenction and if not re-establish one. Logs show the device goes into sleep mode and is woke say 8 mins later (does change due to heartbeat interval changing) to ping server. however, its not waking. So I had a situation when the last server communication was 6am, and by the time I noticed I wasn't getting any mail 6 hours had past! Activesync on the device still show connected!!!
HTC response, clearly its your connection settings with your email. Hard reset and try again. Cant be our software.
Any ideas guys, I'm loosing the plot here. The handset is so much smaller and lighter than my kaiser, but I never had these issues.
P.S. I would never have bought another HTC device again if it wasn't for XDA. This forum has helped me so much over the years and also tought me the joys of WinMob!! HTC should be paying you guys!!
Bump:
Anyone else suffering from these problems? Push email is particularly frustrating.
I have this problem too. The answer from HTC is wrong because bluetooth is an universal standard and , is no reason to say to use only HTC bluetooth devices. Bluetooth should mean compatibility with all bluetooth devices . Another stupid answer from HTC.... Anybody to help us ...?

I currently don't use BT headset anymore. However, before using Diamond, I use the HTC Touch Elf with A2DPTOGGLE http://www.teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1626
It can switch between BT headset or speaker. I tried beforeWM will not automatically switch between them. I know there is problem using the same A2DPTOGGLE in Diamond, because it is a Today plug-in and Diamind hide the Today from TouchFLO 3D. You may try to use "Second Today" together with the A2DPTOGGLE to fix your issue.
Another issue with your pushmail (via GPRS), I constantly working with pushmail and there is no missing mail. there are 2 things you may need to take into account.
1) check your peak or non-peak time. if you need to constantly receive mail immediately in 7x24, you need to set non-peak time also "arrive immediately". something like that.
2) apperantly, WM will save battery when device in sleep mode, WI-FI will deactivated. if you use WI-FI to work with pushmail, you may need some registry settings (i dunno which registry to control this) to disable such energy saving capability. Or, use normal GPRS or 3G data connectivity to test.
P.S. I hate to be the support of HTC product, but seems HTC have well-known bad after sales service.
Using adv. config. I disabled ,,joint stereo'' . I have no problems with ''no sound'' after using BT headset anymore. Can somebody else to confirm this ?

I've tried but doesn't work, this problem's still here
Considering the G1 doesn't have a standard 2.5 or 3.5mm jack for line out, stereo bluetooth was the only other option. who wants to use a retarded adapter on your headset??
Is there any way to add support for this later? It has to be a software fix, as WM didn't have Stereo Bluetooth until WM6. Any ideas?
You're about a month late discovering this one
I've heard that the Google devs are working on a new bluetooth stack that may support A2DP. I've been poring over so many forums lately, I couldn't begin to tell you exactly where. But even review sites say "...bluetooth (A2DP to come later)." When is anybody's guess.
"supposedly" there will be an update the same day it releases to add in A2DP support...
yeah ive heard of 2 updates after release or on release one major and the other not......but again who knows

I hope the other update is video recording...
Oh well, this is STILL the best device T-Mobile has released since the HTC Wizard (aka T-Mobile MDA). And maybe add Outlook support w/ Activesync and Exchange. Well, that might take awhile but someother software might work just as well. Either way,
Does anyone know if word, excel, and powerpoint will work in some kind of fashion?

G1 Bluetooth
I've asked in various stores and got different answers, so I'm hoping someone with a G1 can give me a definitive answer.
Will the G1 allow another device to access the internet over bluetooth??
Specifically I make a lot of use of my TomTom sat nav during the day, and I rely on it getting traffic updates over the web by bluetooth with my phone. Before I buy a G1 will this still work?
TIA
Dave
maybe?
For now no. maybe some one will develop
Poo, that means I have to still carry a PDA and a phone, I was hoping I could put both together by getting a G1.
You can get GPS Maps and Web access through your G1, so you wont need your TomTom. However, it wont be as detailed or have voice.

YET!!! LOL
The hardware is there, but the software isn't finished yet. Right now the only thing Bluetooth can do in Android is connect to a hands-free headset. As I understand, Google is still working on the Bluetooth API and the other profiles will be enabled in a future software update.
Personally, I'm waiting for A2DP. Not a whole lot of point in loading a phone with music if it doesn't work with my headphones.

We use our PDAs alongside our TomToms in vehicles, and to be honest I quite like having them seperate for various reasons.
I'll just have to wait for bluetooth internet then maybe reconsider my position.

I agree I like having separate devices. I don't like combining too many things into one object because you can't use them at the same time. I have a TomTom, a MP3/video player, and the G1 now... But I like the fact that when the TomTom is not up to date I can switch to the G1... and if I find myself without my MP3 player I can just use my G1. I like having the option but I don't use it on a daily basis.
TomTom traffic
I understand your concern as I have a similar problem. I have the Vario II and I have had a lot of trouble with it (WM6.1) connecting to the Tomtom traffic server. My case may be complicated by the fact that I ride (tomtom rider) and I cannot get the phone to fix things in the middle of the ride The problem started when Micro$oft changed DUP bluetooth connection and everything gets messed up. I was considering the android G1 as long as I can get the traffic service that I paid but I cannot use. And just to clarify, I do have a single tomtom unit which does the GPS and all the things. The phone is only to provide connection to the tomtom plus service.
I hope that comes soon.
flashing blue led for enabled bluetooth?
is there one? mine doesnt, yours?
Mine blinks when bluetooth is active... not sure if it's only when a device is connected or not but that would be nice to only see it when devices are connected.
