Program to switch phone modes - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Is there a program out there that will switch the phone from ringing mode to vibrate mode on a timer? Had a great little program for my Nokia N95 that would switc to "normal" mode at 9pm and then to vibrate "meeting" mode at 9am. TIA.

SBSH PhoneWeaver. SPB Phone Suite. There may be others, possibly free ones. The app should integrate with your calendar so that it goes into "meeting" when you actually have meetings.
If you want to try googling, the term is typically "profile" rather than "mode".

Thx blue, You know mode just didn't look right, but for the life of my I couldn't come up up with the right term.

I have PhoneWeaver, Phone Suite, phoneAlarm and Photo Contacts Pro that all do profile switching I believe. I like the PhoneWeaver the best and all the others are no longer installed.

Funny, the WM6 standard has an "automatic" profile
if you have a meeeting : the phone will be in "meeting" (= silent)
else it will be using the "normal" profile.
Strange that this doesnt exist too on the Professional WM6.
Edit: it seems like HTC tried to implement this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338515

SPB Mobile Shell w Kaiser usefull?

I was researching SPB mobile shell because i heard alot of good news about it. Now most of the stuff that it offers is already given from the get go on the Kaiser.
Is there anything else on Mobile shell that is not offered already by the Kaiser that is a must have or very helpful?
While i'm at it, is there any other good programs that you would think are 'must have'?
Thank you in advance!
i like mobile shell and also diary and weather from spb but i am having a few issues. The weather tab is black text and doesnt stand out from the black background. Also, when i have spb weather installed i cannot figure out how to resize the weather tab so diary goes up further. I would just use the htc home screen but the dang clock is too big
Subscribe to Club Spb and you'll find the solution to your black text problem. There's been a release that addresses the problem.
I use the following:
P+ for the battery indicator, safe mode, and PIE extensions. Everything else is off.
Shell for the Today plug-in. The menu thing and wake-up screen are off.
Phone suite as a tab (first) in Shell.
Diary as a tab (second) in Shell showing only calendar, tasks, special events.
Weather as a tab (third) in Shell.
Shell's 'main' tab as number four.
On my Today screen, I have the date, then Shell. Auto-hide is off for Shell, and Diary is set to like 172 for height.
It's the perfect setup.
Nice indeed, i'll use the same setup as yours for a bit and see how convenient it is. (however i don't see the use of installing P+ in order to have the battery bar since mobile shell show the battery icon with the percentage).
Thanks for the idea
Oh, will have to look for that black text fix, that must be pretty new. I prefer keeping Diary below the mobile shell stuff as it's my primary Today screen tool. I'm trying different apps for profiles, the SPB one is a bit too simplistic for me, and mobile shell already has things like photo quick dial.
There is definitely some overlap in features!
Phone suite works for me. I like the auto profiles (meeting marked as busy puts phone in silent mode, etc.) and other notifiers. edit: also forgot about radio on/off's on the plug-in.
I forgot to mention the close button for P+ - I use that all the time.
Used to be a die-hard Diary guy. Now I find myself just using the PocketInformant list view instead. It's easier / more detailed. I could probably remove Diary and miss nothing.
I used the SBSH stuff for a long time, too. Paired with WisBar Advanced. Didn't want to suck up that much memory / CPU on my new device.
The HTC Home plug in is great, but Mobile Shell is much, much more powerful, particularly if you pair it with other SPB products that it can use as plugins. I've got PocketPlus for a range of reasons, and having 4 Mobile Shell tabs + PocketPlus tabs means two to three tap access to everything I want.
I did like the HTC Home as a freebie, but the SPB stuff just goes much, much further.
I've tried SPB Phone Suite and it does not handle the radio/bt/wifi switching well. For now I am trying PhoneAlarm and it seems to be good. radio/bt/wifi switching works correctly. I also like that it is possible to have bt automatically switched on during a call (for using a headset) and then off after the call ends. This is a good power saver.
One question: If I disable the HTC Home plugin from the today screen in order to try SPB Mobile Shell, will the HTC plugin still be running (in the background) in program memory?
I have had ZERO issues with radio control using Phone Suite. Everything goes on and off as it should. Is it possible you're using an older version?

No, I downloaded the latest available from the SPB site. I also soft-resetted to be sure. Perhaps mine is a one-off case?
To be more precise, my problem with Phone Suite is that for example I am in Normal profile with Wifi off. I have a scheduled appointment that will trigger the Meeting profile, and Wifi is turned on with the Meeting profile. However Wifi is not being turned on with the Meeting profile or any other automatic profile. It works normally with an explicit manual profile change. Anyone experiencing the same issues with SPB Phone Suite?

So under the Automatic:Meeting profile, the selector for WiFi is "On" rather than "Unchanged?" And that's not causing WiFi to go on? I'd e-mail support and let them know. Since it's a new device on a relatively new OS, they may have some fixing to do.
Out of curiosity, I do have to ask why you're having that go on automatically, though. That's going to drain battery relatively quickly compared to standard operation. And when you're in a meeting do you always have a WiFi connection available? I typically don't, but I'm on client sites that either don't have it or have it but don't permit access. And if you're in a meeting, why are you surfing anyway?
I haven't noticed the issue myself. Do you have PA and PhoneSuite installed simultaneously?

I don't actually have the need for WiFi to automatically switch on with the Meeting profile. It's just that as a developer myself I tend to go over an application to see if all functionality is as it is supposed to be. It just sort of 'irritates' me when some things don't work as supposed.
At the moment I have Phone Alarm and Phone Suite installed simultaneously. However I actually tried out PhoneAlarm because of the issues with Phone Suite so PA is not the cause. I presently am trying PS just for the 'Reject and reply with SMS' functionality, and PA for all other profile functionality.

I'm not a developer, but do much the same to make sure that when I do want to use something, I can. I've a meeting coming up, so I'll change my profile as well and see if I get the same issue.
SPB is normally quite responsive to support issues, so I'd let 'em know and see what's what. They'll probably have a good answer for you.
Hi Leon100,
What version of PhoneAlarm are you using. Is it 1.62.
I am asking this because I tried using PA with my HTC Touch but I notice that with this installed very often the Touch fails to Switch On when I press the Power button. Most of the time needs a Soft Reset. I used the PAy Touch v2 skin and I suspect that the PA Task-Switcher is conflicting with the SPB Plus Task Switcher and causing this "Sleep-of-Death" problem. Do you know of a way to De-Activate the PhoneAlarm Task-Switcher.
will appreciate any help & suggestions

I just checked and noticed two things:
1. Automatic profiles don't "work" unless you've set the profile to "Automatic" on the PhoneSuite Today screen.
2. Once I did that, WiFi fired up for the profile as expected.
So I guess it's worth asking - did you select the "Automatic" profile?

Great, that was it. I thought that since the Meeting profile was an automatic one it would activate by itself. Thanks.
Another question now: Is it possible for bluetooth to be activated only during a call? PhoneAlarm has this facility but I did not manage to find it in PhoneSuite. It would be a power saving facility.

I have version 1.62. What do you mean by Task-Switcher? If it is the profiles that you mean then most of these can be deactivated, but there has to be at least the Normal profile available. The option to deactivate the normal profile is disabled. You can try to deactivate all profiles except the normal profile, soft-reset and see if this helps.

Not that I'm aware of, no. But I've always got my headset on and haven't run into battery issues, so I wasn't looking for it.
With BT 2.0, I haven't noticed a drain issue, but then I also always have second battery with me just in case.
I previously used SPB Mobile Shell on my rw6828 and had major battery drain problems (which stopped when it was uninstalled).
Is anyone seeing higher battery drain with SPB Mobile Shell on the Kaiser? thanks

I'm only using the Today plug-in part of Shell, and in general, I have to charge nightly.
Maybe this weekend I'll disable Shell and see how the battery life goes.

SPB Phonesuite vs phoneAlarm

So which is better?
SPB Phone suite or phoneAlarm?
I particulary like the ability to have my profiles switched based on cellID. That means vibrator @ the movies, medium volume @ work and so on.
I do plan on getting SPB Mobile Shell and SPB DIary. So maybe getting the phonesuite will be a better plug in to SPB Mobile shell.
I prefer Phone Suite - especially since it it integrates well with shell, diary, pocket plus, etc. PA kept getting me out of control with my profiles, like thinking I was silent in a meeting and wasn't. Probably my fault for causing this behavior but too much detail for me.
I also found PA to have much more than I need, and didn't want to take the time to tweak it endlessly. Phone Suite is nice, direct, and simple. And I also use a bundle of other SPB software, so having it as integrated as it can be is quite nice.
The nice thing is that SPB provides full-featured demo periods, so you can always give it a shot and see if it does what you want. I can say that there's less control than PA, but it's quite functional.
I own both PhoneAlarm and AlarmToday but this week I removed them while running a trial for Mobile Shell, Phone Suite, Pocket Plus, and Diary. So far I've removed Pocket Plus but kept the rest and I think the switch will be permanent. They are better looking and more effective.

hmm I don't agree with you. I use PhoneAlarm, Pocket Plus, Diary, Time, Mobile Shell.
For me Phone Suite has to less features so for me Phone Suite is less effective then PA! In PA there are so many things you can change and it's skinnable...

In my opinion the skins are all pretty hideous. Of course that's a matter of personal taste. It's true that in theory I could create my own but I don't really have the time for it. Phone Suite on its own does have less features than PhoneAlarm but that doesn't translate into effectiveness. For instance, as another poster mentioned, PA is somewhat buggy when it comes to staying silent. There were times when I'd be in my vibrate-only work profile and it'd somehow shift to a louder mode without any kind of indication or visible profile change. I'd consider myself lucky to catch it on a reminder instead of a phone call. The way it integrates into the rest of the SPB products adds to its effectiveness.
I think what this is boiling down to is this:
If you want a really powerful app that's incredibly customizeable but might have a bug or two, PA is the way to go.
If you're looking for more basic profiles and controls with fewer bugs, then Phone Suite is a solid solution.
In fairness to PA, given the depth of controls they provide, I'm not surprised there are more issues. With the number of different devices running around, strange combinations of apps & hardware are bound to arise. I'd be amazed if they didn't. However, it does look like they're having to do many tweaks on a regular basis based on release history.
Both have free demos, so use one for a week, then the other and see which fits you better.
My biggest complaint against SPB PhoneSuite is that it doesn't have audible repeating alarms for Missed Calls & Unread Text Messages. Furthermore PhoneAlarm addresses another inherent weakness of the WM operating system by providing repeating alarms for reminders as well and this works very reliably.
Phone Suite does have audible repeating alarms for Missed Calls and Unread SMS. At least, the current version does. You can configure whether you want an alarm for missed calls, SMS, or both on a schedule you set. I've turned off the SMS reminder, but that's my preference.
You're right on the repeating reminders, but some calendar replacements do this already so it may be SPB looking to avoid software conflicts.

I am sorry Perfalbion for my ignorance. I read about the SBP PhoneSuite from their site and could not make up that it did have audible alarm for missed calls / SMS. Thanks for updating me on this.

Wow thanks a bunch guys!
Ill prolly end up downloading both and seeing which one I like more.

Advanced Profile Prog?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a profile switcher that has the following:
(a) a today component (preferably just one line)
(b) allows for the selecting of a profile temporarily (meaning after xx minutes it would revert back to normal like MeetingMute did for WM2003)
(c) allows for the automatic flipping of the screen (e.g. car profile reverts the screen into landscape mode so I can lay my tilt on the dash)
I am aware of phoneweaver and spb phone suite, but they both lack the last component and I believe they dont allow for the temporary profile...any one got something like this?
Forgot to mention I need it on a 6.1 rom for Kaiser
Hmm, yeah. Last component could be tricky. I just bought Spb Phone Suite tonight. It does allow for temporary profiles but it works in intervals of 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. You can also set up one of the automatic profiles to start and stop at specific times of the day. The only problem with that is that it can only be one specific schedule. All it would really be good for in my opinion is maybe setting it up to be silent during the hours you sleep or something.

As the title says, the latest version of PhoneWeaver will rotate your screen, but I don't think it allows temporary profiles like your description, (though it is a simple tap of the home screen plug in to change it manually to any profile, then back again).

I'll give the latest phoneweaver a shot tonight, the time I checked it was at version 1.1, so maybe 1.2 will have everything I need. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm still entertaining others just in case cause I really missed meeting mutes interval silent feature which was great if I only wanted to mute it for 2 hours (i.e. at a movie) and wanted it back to normal after that.

I'm using v1.2.1 and in the profile definition on the "Profiles" tab I have an "Timeout" option. Meaning I can switch from profile A to B and if profile B has defined a timeout of 60mins it will automatically revert to profile A after that time.

I use WinMobileApps Profiles for Windows Mobile v2.0.0. You can set Portrait or Landscape for any profile, and it has a nice simple one line Today plugin. It doesn't have temp profile, but does have revert to scheduled. It also has a command line parameter that can run a specified program or script when you switch to a particular profile. Works on 6.1.
Ok looks like both the WinMobileApps and PhoneWeaver both do all of the above. I ended up going with phoneweaver though because of other options. Thanks to those who were able to enlighten me on the newer versions

PhoneAlarm is a good choice too. It does tons of things besides profile switching (repeated alarms of missed calls, sms, mms, email, traffic cost/counter, etc). There is a free version too.
It's really nice but tends to slow the Today screen only when you change/move plugins or softreset. Other than that it's really nice.
You should give it a try.

Custom Phone Profiles on Fuze??

Hello. Here is what I am looking for and maybe my Fuze can already do this, but I can not figure it out.
I would like to have more control of the phone profile options like I used to have on my Blackberry phones. Basically I want to be able to make custom profiles.
For example. With my old phones I was able to use an "advanced" feature in the phone profile section to create what I called a "night" setting. When this setting was activated the entire phone was on silent (texts, emails, etc, everything was silent) EXCEPT the phone, which would ring if I received a call. So it was basically a "phone only" setting. This was perfect at night because I would only receive a call if it was a real emergency.
Or let's say I want EVERYTHING to vibrate EXCEPT the phone that I want to ring. On my Fuze I see how to put the entire phone on "vibrate" or "silent", or "normal", but how do I adjust those profile settings if I want to or create new profiles
Is there a program/script/plugin that will accomplish this? Or can I already do it on the phone?
Thanks for any help with this.
i am looking for something like this too so if anyone knows of a program that does this or can make one that would be really awesome.
phoneAlarm from pocketmax.net is the program you want.
You can create several different profiles controlling everything from ring and alarm tones to backlight level to WiFi status and automate switching between each of them based on time, appointment, location...
Though written as a Today screen plug-in, there is a TouchFlo support mode that lets you run TF as well.

dgduris, thank you for the info. I am going to go check it out now to learn more. I am currently using spb Mobile shell. Does it work with this program?
thanks again for the info. I will report back what I find and how it works!
How does phonealarm support TouchFlo? I used to use phonealarm with my 8525. But with my new Fuze, I've been trying out SBSH Phoneweaver. Which seems to be working well enough. It has a pop-up profile screen menu overlay that I set to one of my buttons.
spb phone suite was the answer for me. really a nice program.
does spb phone suite mess with the Touch Flo? and my manila? i dont want to have the entire SPB thing show up in my home screen. I want to it to be like an app where i can just open it and chang I just want to be able to change profie profiles and then close it again.
I believe it will be in your profiles or setting list and it does not mess with TF3D. It works great with my Mobile Shell touch screen settings also.

Best Paid Software for PPC?

Whats the best software you can buy for the pocket pc especially for the fuze / touch pro / diamond.
Freeware is awesome there is a ton of cool stuff out there but unfortunately not many people talk about the things you have to pay for.
Any advice? Price is not an issue, quality is the importance. I am more interested in things that take advantage of the built in gsensor and light sensor but in general I am just wondering what you spend your money on as far as PPC applications go to spruce up your phone.
FlexMail, BeeLineGPS, WMWifiRouter, AEButton Plus, abcTaskMan.
Very good thread to start btw.
I like pretty much everything that has come out of SPB Softwarehouse.
I am very impressed with PocketArtist. Oh and how could we forget CorePlayer?
Coreplayer is very good. Also a lot of people talk about Tom Tom (GPS Software) One of the few programs where you can store the maps on your storage card instead of downloading while you go.
thumbs up for thumbcal! i recommend it...
Thanks for the recommendations I might add one or two of my own:
TomTom 7 is a great program
iGO8 is fantastic with a very sleak GUI
Resco Bubbles is a good game that takes advantage of the g-sensor.
Wifirouter for those times I need to uhm.. Not Tether to my Notebook?
Coreplayer is one of the best fully released media players for PPC.
phoneAlarm - it controls how the phone behaves (profiles), gives you a weather panel, quick launcher, photo dialer and more (top half of screen shot) - all finger friendly
SBSH Pocket Breeze and Pocket weather - because they fit well together (see the bottom half of the screen shot below) - again - finger friendly
Core Player
Pocket Informant - use it as my agenda and contacts application
TouchPal keyboard
List Pro
eWallet
I have always used Pocket Informant
They always update and support their product

I'm using the trail version for burglar alarm, and it rocks!
http://www.babymonitor-mobile.com/index.htm
BabyMonitor for Windows Mobile is a software, which allows you to use your smartphone like a burglar alarm. This way, you’ll receive a call if there is a noise in the guarded object.
BabyMonitor comes with noise suppression technology, that can ignore environmental sounds and focuses on the defined noises . This software also silences the phone’s ringer, in order to avoid detecting the smartphone when you get a phone call. Once sound are made, the handset will call a preset number.
Key features of BabyMonitor burglar alarm
1.
Mobility, cheapness, reliability
2.
Unlimited radius of action

When we leave home for holidays we usually feel nervous about abandoned property. Just place your smartphone in the car or house and if unwanted sounds are detected the handset will call a preset number and you’ll be able to hear what is happening in the guarded object. Remember to turn on power supply to your smartphone when you leave home for a long time.
Sounds interesting but my phone NEVER leaves my side.
Anyone else have a list of programs that you've purchased and rely on to get through your day that have good synergy with the Fuze/Touch Pro. Keep 'em coming it's good to know what programs are good to buy.
b
My list...
WMWiFiRouter...best money ever spent on PPC software
SOTI Pocket Controller...I tried MyMobiler, but this just seems to work better. When in my office, it's nice to be able to access my phone right from my PC
Salling Clicker...kind of a remote control of my laptop from my Fuze...works great when presenting a PowerPoint as I can use my Fuze to step through slides...
SPB Offerings...with the Fuze, I'm using SPB Imageer, Insight (RSSHub is comparable but needs link to download images for offline viewing), Backup and Time (like the snooze on the alarm)...some are better suited for non-TF3D, so considering SecondToday as I miss the standard Mobile screen sometimes...Weather, SPBPocketPlus, etc...all their stuff seems great.
acbTaskManager, SKTools...for diagnostics/troubleshooting, just in case
My best are SKTools, Pocket Breeze & SPB Backup...

3.
Radio noise insensibility

what??? sounds like a good idea, but i don't want my baby to be exposed to harmful radio waves at such a young age. but using it as a housealarm is a good idea, but who wants to leave their phone at home... maybe a spare set i suppose...
Could you guys give brief descriptions of the apps and if possible, links to a reputable seller? Thanks!
