Hello
my herald always reconnects to GPRS, however, this reg entry is set to 0:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\|gprs connection name|\AlwaysOn = 0 (DWORD decimal)
i use htc home plugin, and it has a weather plugin but i unchecked "download weather data automatically" at weather options.
i do not know why does it reconnects, but it is annoying...
please help me!
regards,
pulyka
Do you have push mail setup? (An exchange server?) If so, then that's your culprit.
hmm i dont think so..
what is that anyway?
It allows you to:
1. Recieve emails as they come, without having to syncronize every so minutes.
2. Setup an activesync that remotely stores your contact list, todo list and calendar, thus it can be edited online from any computer and restored easily when you're not near a computer but have to hard reset the phone.
Or at least, that's what I use it for.
This is how I killed it:
Start Menu
Settings
Connections Tab
Connections
Advanced Tab
Select Networks
In the top drop down choose anything but a T-Mobile network (I chose 'My Work Network' , which isn't configured).
If I want to use the GPRS I set the top drop down back to T-Mobile Data.
thank you, i will try it.

have BB Connect installed on my Kaiser. I am able to get emails successfully over Blackberry and gmail. However, I cannot use Internet explorer over MediaNet.
GoogleMaps, the weather plugin, QuickGPS, etc can all get the data they need when connected through MediaNET but IE will not load any webpages. Also, if I connect to a wireless lan, the same thing happens. IE can't browse, but other apps access data just fine.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? There are no options to config connections within IE and the connection within settings seems to be correct (how else would the other applications be able to use MediaNET?).
Are there some proxy settings I need to change or fix? I was able to browse the internet with IE via wireless lan or medianet perfectly fine before BB Connect was configured.
Note:
I can launch BIS for internet explorer and use the Blackberry connection instead of MediaNET. Obviously though this is not optimal as BIS has lmited sites, low res pictures, etc.
I've noticed the same behavior. It happened when I opened the "email settings" icon. This opens pocket IE with an extra menu item. Since then, wifi works for all programs, but pocket IE just gives me a blank page...
Did a hard reset, and never used the 'email settings' thing again. Everything is fine now...
I've noticed the same issue. I've set my connection to medianet using the proxy, noproxy isp.cingular.com and wap.cingular.com. All other programs are able to get to the internet (google, live search, BBC internet explorer, etc.) except for the standard IE. I don't browse too often, so I use the BBC browser when I need one.
thanks all ... i know now not to click the email settings button ... did a hard reset and all is well ... MediaNet full web browsing kills BIS
Internet Explorer inoperable
Help please! I am using the Kaiser and have the following issues.
1. There are 2 capital 'E's in the top. One that says Blackberry Edge and the smaller E says Tmobile Blackberry Edge when tapped
2. I can not simultaneously use the browser to access the internet at the same time that I am using the blackberry service to access emails. One of the 2 must be suspended.
In other words, I would have to literally suspend blackberry in settings to go surf the web.
Does anyone have this issue? Can anyone at all offer assistance to correct the settings so both can work together.
Any leads greatly appreciated!! Michael
i am having the same problem. did not find a solution. started using xpress mail
Hi,
I have the same problem with my HTC Kaiser and T-Mobile Germany.
The funny thing is that T-Mobile doesn't support Blackberry on this device.
I just installed the BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_41.0.0.84.cab and restarted the device and was happy that all works fine. I got all my mails from company BES server, includes the security features which lock the device every 15 minutes.
If this will work with Blackberry mail for home users, I don't know. I tested the BBConnect only to our company server.
I have the same problem like users here has in this threat:
I can't use the Internet Explorer to browse in the Internet. That problem still exist on WLAN and on GPRS. I turned off the phone part and try to use WLAN, but I have the same problem.
I guess that the Blackberry Connect will modify the Internet Explorer (like other parts of the device) to enable security features.
If I use the Blackberry Browser I got the message that the service is not supported. I know that some colleague had the same problem with their Blackberry (Hardware device) and called T-Mobile to enable the service.
I can user Google Maps, IMAP-Mail profile, Weather software and other stuff from the Internet without problems (WLAN and GPRS), only the Internet Explorer and Media Player has problems to connect.
To solve the problem I will talk to the BES Admin or / and T-Mobile. If this will not solve my problems, I will install Opera Browser, which will hopefully work.....
Here are my versions:
Rom: 1.56.111.4 - 09/01/07
Radio: 1.27.12.32
Protocol: 22.45.99.07H

You have to go to registry:
hkey_current_user->software->microsoft->windows->current version->internet settings
and delete enableautodetect entry
This solve the problem for me

Click to collapse
You can modify the registry key 'EnableAutoDetect' key found in the registry location:
[hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\curre ntversion\internet settings']
The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000
(To disable proxy) Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001
The best option is to delete the registry key (which I did) since some posts indicate this registry option gets set to 0 after a reset.

Hi,
I changed the IE settings EnableAutoDetect from 0 to 1 and everything works fine.
I tested Opera Browser as well and it's fine, but I don't like the Bookmark synchonisation, this is better in IE....
Thanks a lot
Erik

hi guys,
after setting up my hotmail with windows live. i tried syncing with my account with wifi on and connected. but it keeps trying to send/recieve with gprs instead. so how do i force it to use wifi instead?
i still green using diamond
anyway i'm using panosha's v1.2 rom
thanks.
i saw the same problem.
however, use Windows Live to sync hotmail is fine with wifi.
yup syncing with windows live is fine..
its just the part where by you want to send an email through outlook which will activate the gprs instead of using wifi
alright found a way to use the wifi.
first i have to disable the "send messages immediately" option by going to
windows live > menu > options > email > uncheck "send messages immediately"
this way after you have typed your email in your outlook it will save it into "outbox" and not invoke the gprs to send.
right after that, you just activate wifi and fire up windows live and sync as usual. your saved email will be sent out with the syncing process.
try this
goto settings
connections tab at the bottom
then click connections icon
choose advanced tab at the bottom
click select networks
in the bottom dropdown box select your internet connection (ie orange internet)
click ok and your done
tried your method i could only find "sunsurf internet" which i'm trying to avoid as that connection uses gprs.
I have just upgraded from a DIAM 100 to a 130 so now 3G works beautifully.
However my mail set up fails to synchronise (both bigpond and windows live).
It will work on wifi but will not work otherwise (full 5 bars reception and internet does work.)
I figured it must be the settings for my telstra internet/wap setting however when i go into connections, it tells me that this is preconfigured and cannot be modified.
So has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it.
I have wasted several hours of on hold to Telstra so I thought I would ask this forum first.
I have searched the fora without success for this problem.
Many thanks

Flexmail for the win!
I have exactly the same problem. I'm assuming the Teltra ROM is locked down and you can't do much with it.
The problem is the proxy settings, don't enter them and you will be able to use msn and email, but you will loose access to the "free to browse" Telstra pages
Copied from http://configure.telstra.com.au
1. On the handset, tap on the Start button.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap on Connections tab.
4. Tap on Connections icon.
5. Tap on Add a new modem connection under My Work Network.
6. Enter Telstra Internet in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Select Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) in the drop down list under Select a modem.
8. Tap on Next.
9. Enter telstra.wap in the Access point name field.
10. Tap on Next.
11. Enter a username in the User name field or otherwise leave it blank.
12. Enter a password in the Password field or otherwise leave it blank.

Fix in Advanced Server Settings
I had this problem and fixed pretty easily by going into email inbox tab, then press menu / tools / options then tap an account to change its settings. click 'edit account setup' press next a couple times until you get to a page with "Advanced Server Settings" down the bottom in blue. click on that and change the network connection box from 'The internet' to telstra internet. click done and next til the setup is finished and you should be able to get your mail over the 3G connection
I have data plan with ATT and when ever I soft rest my phone then after I can not connect to Internet using medianet.

Have you tried just setting them in your connection setttings?
Going to Settings\Connections\Connections\Advanced\Select Netowrks and set both boxes to MediaNet.
You might want to also check your poutlook settings and make sure its set to "Connects to Internet"
Thank you advance seting worked but How to Check poutlook settings???

then softresetting and after rest I was online
Went to wheather tab and it downloaded info
Disconnected medianet and then went to stock page it Autometically reconnected and downloaded.
SO Thank you Thank you Thank you
But can you please tell How to Check poutlook settings? I do not know how to check.
once again thanks for helping
Another question is there any way I back up Settings\Connections\Connections\Advanced\Select Netowrks setting?
Awesome, glad it worked.
For poutlook, I'm not 100% this will be there unless you are using an exchange server (I run gmail as an exchange server using m.google.com as the server address) but go you your Inbox\Menu\Tools\Options, select your e-mail account, go to Menu\Advanced and the last box should be set to Connection: Internet.
I'm not sure where that registry key is but I would assume its somewhere in HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\

Hi, I'm on the same network and on the Text and Web simplicity tariff. Here is what I did. The Windows mobile version I'm using is wm6.5.x, with the start menu at the bottom left.
To enter the settings first click "start", then click "setting", then "connections".
First click manage existing connections, and delete the modem connection specified in here. (Not required but advised) As this is configured by the device and the setting are incorrect.
Next go back a step. Then click add new modem connection.
“Select a Modem” should be set for “Cellular Line (GPRS)” or “Cellular Line GPRS/3G”
Now click “Next” to start inputting the operator specific settings.
Name the connection: O2 (PAYG)
Access Point Name (PAYG): payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username (PAYG) payandgo
Password: password
Tap “Advanced” and make sure both tabs have selected “Use Server Assigned IP Address”
Tap “Finish” then Tap “Proxy Settings”.
Select “This network connects to the Internet” and “ This network connects to a proxy server…”
Tap “Advanced” then WAP. Server address is: 193.113.200.195: Port 9201. Tap OK
Tap Socks: Server is 193.113.200.195: Port 1080. Type: Socks 4.
I can confirm these settings work as I use the internet everyday on my Touch Pro. Hope this helps. If you struggle pm me.
