Email set up problems with Telstra (AUS) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have just upgraded from a DIAM 100 to a 130 so now 3G works beautifully.
However my mail set up fails to synchronise (both bigpond and windows live).
It will work on wifi but will not work otherwise (full 5 bars reception and internet does work.)
I figured it must be the settings for my telstra internet/wap setting however when i go into connections, it tells me that this is preconfigured and cannot be modified.
So has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it.
I have wasted several hours of on hold to Telstra so I thought I would ask this forum first.
I have searched the fora without success for this problem.

Flexmail for the win!

I have exactly the same problem. I'm assuming the Teltra ROM is locked down and you can't do much with it.

The problem is the proxy settings, don't enter them and you will be able to use msn and email, but you will loose access to the "free to browse" Telstra pages

1. On the handset, tap on the Start button.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap on Connections tab.
4. Tap on Connections icon.
5. Tap on Add a new modem connection under My Work Network.
6. Enter Telstra Internet in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Select Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) in the drop down list under Select a modem.
8. Tap on Next.
9. Enter telstra.wap in the Access point name field.
10. Tap on Next.
11. Enter a username in the User name field or otherwise leave it blank.
12. Enter a password in the Password field or otherwise leave it blank.
13. Tap on Advanced.
14. Select Use server-assigned IP address.
15. Tap on OK.
16. Tap on Finish.
17. Tap on Set up my proxy server under My Work Network.
18. Make sure that This network connects to the Internet and This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet are checked.
19. Tap on Advanced.
20. Tap on HTTP.
21. Enter 10.1.1.181 in the Server field.
22. Enter 80 in the Port field.
23. Tap on OK three times.

Fix in Advanced Server Settings
I had this problem and fixed pretty easily by going into email inbox tab, then press menu / tools / options then tap an account to change its settings. click 'edit account setup' press next a couple times until you get to a page with "Advanced Server Settings" down the bottom in blue. click on that and change the network connection box from 'The internet' to telstra internet. click done and next til the setup is finished and you should be able to get your mail over the 3G connection

Ok, so after a battle with my Live Search not showing any data and unable to connect to the GPRS, I found a solution... in case anyone else has same problem, read on.
1. Reset back to all your default connection settings. It will take u 5 minutes, just follow this guide:

2. Go to your Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced
Click Select Networks
Select Media NET in the first drop-down, then click corresponding Edit button
Go to "proxy settings" tab at the bottom, and UNCHECK the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
Now close all the windows, restart Live Search... and boom - it should download everything just fine.
P.S:
The idea is to have all the settings exactly as ATT wants them to be, with the EXCEPTION of disabling the Proxy.

I've been having problems getting my unlocked AT&T Tilt to connect to T-Mobile's GPRS data network. I've done the necessary connections setups, including entering the proxy server settings (216.155.165.050:8080, etc) as well as running the disablehiddenproxy .cab in the Windows folder, but it just won't connect. And, when it appears to have connected, I can't access any websites. Every attempt simply ends up with an error message with something like 0x8008000. Google Maps won't work either, so the issue isn't limited to PIE.
I've entered the same settings on multiple phones in the past, including two HTC phones (Dash and Wing), so I know I didn't mess up on any obvious settings. I don't know what could be wrong. Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Anyone? So far still no dice. WiFi works, though, which I guess is something...
EDIT: Nevermind, I think I got it. Apparently I needed to clear the SOCKS proxy setting. It's news to me, as I didn't need to do that before on either the Dash or the Wing.
Anyway, if anyone else is having the same problem, here are the instructions (specific to the proxy settings) I found and followed to get it working:
Go to set up proxy server
Check box that says “this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet”
In the proxy server type 216.155.165.50 (you might want to highlight and copy because you will be using this setting 3 more times)
Tap advanced
Tap HTTP (if the server is not filled out paste the proxy settings in the step above in the server box) and change port from 80 to 8080 then hit ok.
Tap WAP and paste or type the same proxy server (216.155.165.50). The port should automatically say 9201. Leave this as is, then hit ok
Tap secure wap and paste or type in the server settings from the last 2 steps. The port should say 9203. Leave as is as well and hit ok
Tap Socks and clear the server setting. The port should go away. Hit ok, and you're done.

Use AIRTEL LIVE on DIAMOND in INDIA

I used diamond then shifted to Omnia and now back on Diamond.
Diamond was never able to use airtel live and the customer care people used to say that the service is not available to any Windows Mobile Device and i need to buy Mobile Office to use net on my cell. Bull S***..!!
Then i went to Omnia and it was able to run Airtel Live. Damn.. Whats wrong with Diamond then.
For some reasons i shifted back to Diamond and searched day and night to find out the solution. Here it is:-
1. Activate Airtel Live by sending the following SMS to 121: MASALA ACTIVE.
2. The service takes atleast 3-4 hours to get active. Restart the phone and resume configuring.
3. Tap Start -> Settings.
4. Select Connections Tab and tap Connections.
5. Select Advanced Tab, tap Select Networks button to bring up Network Management.
6. Under "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" drop down, tap the New button.
7. In the General Tab, type the name of the settings as Airtel Live
8. Select Modem tab, tap New...
9. Type the name of connection as Airtel Live, select the modem as Cellular Line (GPRS) and tap Next.
10. Type Access Point Name as airtelfun.com and tap next.
11. Leave username, password and domain blank and tap finish.
12. Select Proxy Settings tab. Tap "This network connects to the Internet". This should enable the next check box option.
13. Tap "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
14. Type the proxy server as: 100.1.200.99 and then tap Advanced...
15. Tap HTTP, leave the server as 100.1.200.99 and change the port to 8080
16. Similarly tap WAP, Secure WAP and Socks, type the server as 100.1.200.99 but leave the port to defaults. These are optional settings.
17. Tap OK to close the Advanced proxy setup screen.
18. Tap OK to close the New connection screen.
19. The network management screen should now list the new connection you have created in the drop-down. Tap OK to close this screen
20. Tap OK to close the connection screen.
And its done. Use IE or Opera and have fun.

I did all the steps and after them there's the Edge icon on the signal bar when some application try to connect to internet...but i still any application is not able to access the internet. When I open the site in IE i get "Request not authorized to access WAP gateway". Also its not that I don't have WAP access on my Airtel connection, the same SIM is able to access WAP sites through nokia's default browser in my older nokia 6600
NOP still works? i thought it was stopped sometime back. Will try it out.
umm..any idea whats the downloading/browsing charges?

i used to use NOP to browse net on my laptop.
airtel tried to act smart, it blocked many browsers so that only few browsers can access the web. on my laptop, i changed the user agent and worked like a charm

gmail problem now !
Blackberry connect, on htc pp300 running onWM 6.1, used to freeze the mobile frequently. After making these changes, there are no more hangs
Now gmail connection has stopped working. I get an error "error synchronizing". I tried both POP3 and IMAP connections. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem.

this phone was on contract on o2 he is now trying to set it up on his pay and go simplisty sim which includes free internet .
I have tryed so many different settings to get the internet working and email
all i get are network error messages.
the only way i can get it to conect is via wifi

Hi, I'm on the same network and on the Text and Web simplicity tariff. Here is what I did. The Windows mobile version I'm using is wm6.5.x, with the start menu at the bottom left.
To enter the settings first click "start", then click "setting", then "connections".
First click manage existing connections, and delete the modem connection specified in here. (Not required but advised) As this is configured by the device and the setting are incorrect.
Next go back a step. Then click add new modem connection.
“Select a Modem” should be set for “Cellular Line (GPRS)” or “Cellular Line GPRS/3G”
Now click “Next” to start inputting the operator specific settings.
Name the connection: O2 (PAYG)
Access Point Name (PAYG): payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username (PAYG) payandgo
Password: password
Tap “Advanced” and make sure both tabs have selected “Use Server Assigned IP Address”
Tap “Finish” then Tap “Proxy Settings”.
Select “This network connects to the Internet” and “ This network connects to a proxy server…”
Tap “Advanced” then WAP. Server address is: 193.113.200.195: Port 9201. Tap OK
Tap Socks: Server is 193.113.200.195: Port 1080. Type: Socks 4.
I can confirm these settings work as I use the internet everyday on my Touch Pro. Hope this helps. If you struggle pm me.

[Q] Can't connect to OPEN Wifi network that require WEB LOGIN authentication

1st time using Android
I may be posting similar problem that user may have face, but I tried to search for the same case and i not getting any result.
So my case is explained below
The problem:
I can connect to secured wifi network at my home and other wifi spots without a problem. But I can't connect to my office open wifi network at all. With my ipod touch,blackberry and even old nokia e72, it was a breeze to get internet access at office. After being connected to wifi, I have to go to web browser...then, it should automatically redirect me to Wifi Authentication Login page. It's not happening with my Galaxy Note android devices and is working just fine on my ipod touch.
my android devices would show signal quality as "Excellent". whenever i go to web browser, it doesn't redirect me to authentication page. instead, the connection page would time out.
I 've tried these:
-Clearing Cache.
-Factory resetting.
-Using other browsers, Dolphin,Firefox, etc.
-Apps on Android Market(Wifi Login, Wifi--etc etc.)
Does anybody have this kind of issues??? I think this is a BIG FLAW with Android OS. Need to find a fix if there is one out there

there used to be an authentication based WiFi service in my previous work place and I could easily log in using opera mobile on my galaxy note to first log in and then browse

Hi everyone! I've almost torn my hair out the last two weeks trying to figure out this problem. and I've found it!
It is a DNS problem.... you need to use OpenDNS or Google DNS and set it manually in your WIFI settings. Then the login page will appear now when you connect and you'll have internet. Here's how:
To change DNS settings and connect to our system from Android 2.3 device you can do following:
1. "Settings"
2. "Wireless and Networks"
3. "Wi-Fi settings"
4. Menu > "Advanced"
5. Use static IP
6. Copy current IP address (few lines above) to IP address field
7. Set Gateway as router IP (usually the same as current IP except last number is .1, i.e. if your phone IP 192.168.2.130 then router's likely 192.168.2.1)
8. Set Netmask 255.255.255.0 (sometimes it's different, but you should already know what to do if it is)
9. Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per table below (these are Google DNS values):
DNS 1 8.8.8.8
DNS 2 8.8.4.4
10. Menu > "Save"
11. Restart your phone (power cycle).
FOR ICS/Android 4.0 people:
1. Settings
2. WiFi (click on word "WiFi", not ON/OFF switch)
3. Press and hold preferred (or active) wireless network until dialog pops up
4. Select "Modify Network"
5. Check "Show advanced options" checkbox at the bottom
6. Switch "IP settings" to "Static"
7. Keep IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP)

Wow. This is the only thing that has worked for me.
When I changed the IP to static, the IP, gateway, network, and dns were all correct, as in your list. But they were greyed out. So I couldn't hit "save." Then I typed them in (without changing anything), clicked the save button and finally was able to log in. So something is wrong with the way android manages wifi. All the information was there, but android wasn't using it. In addition to changing the IP to static, the information has to be entered manually. Information android already has access to, but won't use for some reason.

I have the Samsung S7 and through your tutorial I am able to connect to Wifi but my company's login page doesn't come up in the browser (Opera, Chrome, Default Browser).
Any one has the other half of the solution?

2. press the three dots
3. choose you network as is
4. open chrome and go to any website that will redirect you to sign in page

Still can't login. Tried the reddit solution but didn't see a "use network as is" button or anything close. Also tried to make the IP static. Still nothing. Someone please help! I'm at my wit's end!
I have a Samsung SM-G318ML Android 4.4.4 with security patch from 9-1-2016. None of the procedures above work to get to a browser logon screen. I will go down to a nearby Starbucks soon and try using the phone's "Internet" browser instead of Chrome - I have not tried that yet. Holding down the WIFI button on the screen where you choose a particular WIFI source just sends me back to the previous screen. There is nothing labeled "Control Panel." I cannot find a screen to change from automatic to static IP, nor can I find OpenDNS or GoogleDNS. Every generation of Android seems to have significant differences in accessing these features of the operating system making this a really frustrating problem. Any suggestions - beyond the obvious "get an iPhone."
Solved on 2nd hand unlocked Galaxy Note 4 that had been reset before I bought it. Solution: downloaded Dolphin browser app and an app called Wifi Browser Login, by Cedric Ho; both free from Google Play store. In the settings for Wifi Browser Login, select: Login Action. What to do if login from browser is required. Then select: Popup WebView. I then found that connecting to public Wifi triggered the usual message that the wifi had been connected to, but instead of just not getting the browser login page that requires T&Cs to be accepted, a small window appeared asking which browser I wanted to use to open that page. It had the range of my available web browsers to select from, including Dolphin Web Browser. I selected it from that window and Dolphin opened showing the T&Cs acceptance page for the public wifi I had connected to but had previously been unable to use. I have not experimented to see if adding the Dolphin browser app was necessary or not, it might be that Wifi Browser Login alone was the solution.
I am surprised that this problem has existed since 2010 and there is no solution offered from Samsung or Android.
tryRoo method works for me. Just to be more specific though. Please read the notes before giving up trying.
1. Connect to wifi as per usual (hold down wifi button to select the wifi connection and choose the connection).
2. Go to any website so that they will prompt to sign in.
3. Sign in.
NOTE:
1. Sign in page will fail to show after the first step. Ignore it. Continue to step 2.
2. After step 1, you have to sign in before the login time runs out. So, do step 2 within the time limit (I am unsure how long. Perhaps around 1min).
3. While doing step 2, not all website will prompt you with the sign in page. Only after I have tried to login to my company website, that the sign in page appear. I have tried yahoo.com webpage, it doesn't work.
I am using Samsung Note 3 and Hotel wifi (I dun think this matter).
I hope this method works.

So I did the update for Android 4.0 except it s not allowing me to save (the button is not opening up)
Any bright ideas to fix this will be greatful ..

I have the same problem and am surprised the fix is so complex, and it sounds like it might be specific to one network which isn't much use if like me you are travelling around using dozens of different networks.
However, something I have discovered is that, for me at least, this issue only exists when the browser tries to connect to an https address (which includes google and most sites it seems). But if you try to connect to a regular http site ( I use the Indepent newspaper (uk) by default but I can't post the url) then it generally redirects me to a log in page successfully
YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this "fix." This problem has almost made me lose my mind!
