Changing the Homescreen to default makes VoIP directly accessible from the Homescreen.
Now here comes the bad news:
I have not been able create a working _setup.xml file as it is described in the following thread:

I want to use VoipBuster. Can anyone help?
do u have info if the cab can be used on hermes for example? TyTN
Yes should work. But I don't know about the _setup.xml configuration.
it's weird i don't know how to create the cab... cause it tutorials are saying that you need to put in "cabarc N WM6VoIP.CAB _setup.xml"
but then you'll get a .cab with 1 file the setup.xml :S
No that wasn't my problem. I was able to create the CAB (download carbarc)
But it just doesn't work. On my Homescreen it says: Voip Calling not available or something
cabarc N command overwrites the old .CAB and will be 1kb or something just with the setup.xml file?
can't find a sollution...

Thanks, just tried this on a S710. It worked. At first I got no Internet calling on the Home screen. Apparently you need the standard windows home screen. I also got the _setup.xml .cab working. Generated it, downloaded it and executed the CAB. see My setup.xml
Used the procedure of the VOIP/SIP thread
It's a bit of trying out: on/off, booting and on/off phone. But after a while it works. I used Voipbuster and tried a commercial SIP provider too. That was the same with the TyTN. Also the home screen says searching, but it is connected and you can call. Same as TyTN.
I have not tried the dial plan. So for voipbuster I have to dial 0031 70 123 4567. Also being called worked for my commercial provider. The 710 then has a local number.
Can you please send me your xml file configured for VoipBuster.
Thanks!!

dno if it's correct.... but it connects to Voipbuster, The only problem is that I cannot dial people :/ ..
I've got a connection with voipbuster.com cause I'm logging out on my PC
What do you mean you cant dial people? So you can only call people saved to your contacts?

The default port number for the SIP service is 5060 or I need to put it in manually in the URI??
uhm If I dial a number I get an error...
Voipbuster is working but i dno what's wrong
it works fine with voipbuster. but the conversation comes through the external speaker. how can i avoid this?
when i had a call on the second (GSM) line, the voip call came through the internal speakers. as soon as the other (GSM) call on the second line was ended, the VOIP conversation came through the loudspeaker again...
how can i get the voip conversation to come through the internal speaker?
any help?
thanks
I've a strange problem. I've configured the SIP client correctly and I can place a call... but it lasts only few seconds (about 15-20). Then my WiFi disconnects. I've changed energy savings on WiFi setting it to stay always on and to use full power. I've tried to use another wireless access point too, but it always disconnects.
Someone has the same issue??
[EDIT]
I've found a solution searching about RTCP protocol settings on MSDN. If you use WM6 SIP client behind a router with an internet VoIP provider there are 2 registry keys to edit:
HKLM\System\VoIP\SIP\EnablePort5060 = 0x1 (DWORD)
HKLM\Comm\RTC\NAT\EnableEarlyUDPPackets = 0x1 (DWORD)
That last key allowed my SIP calls to last more than 15 seconds

Network Service unavailable
Hello. I have read through a lot of threads and posts and I have seen some other people with the same problem but unfortunately no answer. I have a HTC S730 with WM6 Standard and managed to setup VoIPBuster, following the procedure at the beginning of this thread. On the today screen everything looks okay: VoIPBuster = selected. When I try to make a call, the screens says VoIPBuster - connecting alright and then ends with three beeps and a message saying "Network service unavailable - try again later". Strange enough things work with Fring, so I suppose my router is not the problem. Any idea anyone?
Thanks in advance
I have been able to change the dial plan on my HP iPaq 514. This might work for HTC WM6 Std devices also. See my posting on the Voip/SIP thread

There's no Dial Up Networking client Profile, so i can't use any Bluetooth cellphones as dial-up modem.
Is there any Bluetooth patch to enable DUN Profile so i can use my CDMA/3G cellphone as bluetooth dial-up modem?
I wondered why HTC crippled the DUN profile on Blue Angles & Magician (Himalaya has it), because GPRS connection is a joke compared with 3G.
i need the same for a XDA2i as i wish to use my nokia 6630 as a 3g modem or the XDA2i

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\Connection Wizard\AddIns\Partner with a cellphone
and inside:
REG_SZ "Description" value "btrez.dll,29030"
REG_SZ "Dll" value "btwizardprofile.dll,3"

REG_DWORD "Order" value 100

Soft reset ...
Now, when open the "new connection" in BT manager, I can see the new profile, run it, find my Nokia 6630, pairing .... but wizard end witch an error because ... I have something else to do but :?:
Sorry for my poor english
Bluetooth Manager -> New -> Explore a Blurtooth device -> then select your mobile phone -> then you see a profiles, supported by your mobile phone -> select all or only "Dial-up networking" -> finish.
After this in BLuetooth My shortcuts you can see icon like "<your mobile phone name>: Dial-up networking". Double click on it, and then you can see a list of connection - press "New connection..." select modem "Bluetooth Dialup Modem" and then fill all other fields, as needed for GSM network on your mobile phone. After you done with making new connection, you must click on it (in list of bluetooth connections).

Guys! Good news for you!
i made cab file of the Bluetooth Patch Ver,3900 with Blue Tooth Dial up network client service for Blue Angel(Maybe on Alpine also works,but no tested)
Just tap it on Blue Angel to install it and make soft reset ,you can patch to BT3900 and get Dial network client services with one action!
You can download it from
http://www.asukal.jp/BT3900DUN.CAB
But i am not sure BT3900 Patch is better than default one.
PLS do it with your own risk!
Enjoy it!
why I am not able to connect myself to vodafone with this patch, and the others, how you make it

Try using Resco Explorer or Total Commander to copy "browser.dll" to \Windows...
I think the built-in file explorer will give you an error, but those two should allow you to copy it over.

Hiya this is the guide I used:
http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html
I tried the settings in the thread Wise1 gave but it didn't work. Has anyone got vodafone live to work on the TyTnII?
Use the cab in here...
It uses the same browser.dll and reg settings as mentioned in the guide, but only takes two seconds (and a soft reset).
Oh, and always remember that you have to connect to the internet via the *WAP* settings before you can get on to Vodafone Live! - you'll get an error if you're connected via the "Internet" settings.
Enjoy!
It Worked!!!!
Thanks Sub69 it worked. I had spent hours trying to get Mobile TV.
Just thought I'd add one note though for those people that download the cab and then expend the Internet browser to work.
Once you have installed the cab go to START, Settings, Connections, then click on Connections icon. Click on Advanced and Select Networks. On programs that automatically connect to the Internet, select Contract WAP from the dropdown menu.
Next goto Internet Exployer and type http://live.vodafone.net. It should then work.
p.s. turn off WiFi as this will stop internet streaming on vodafone live
Thank you for this...
This worked perfectly for me, although I had to enter wsp://live.vodafone.com before it loaded the vodafone live! homepage (http:// at the start didn't work).
Amazing isn't it how Vodafone happily sell Windows Mobile devices but don't support them with Vodafone live and Pocket IE!
Personally, I use: http://live.vodafone.co.uk but as long as it all works, that's the main thing!
And yes, you must be connected via the *WAP* settings otherwise you get a "service is not responding at this time" error.
Bit of a pain that - I've tried all sorts of fiddling with the exception list etc. and I just can't get it to switch connection settings automatically when navigating to the Vodafone pages.
app to devellop...
If a dev guys could write a little apps with two big button to switch to :
* Vodafone Live wap
* Defaut internet
it's would be nice if you can setup within the applic 2 network config something like:
Button1(I):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
Button 2(WAP):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
and an option to start PIE to another web page ... with button 2...
Still not working...even with the .cab
Thanks guys...I'm another HTC TYTN ii user and I got all excited reading this thinking I'd finally found the fix (I hate Vodafone for selling me the Vodafonelive/MobileTV package and then not supporting me!!). I've loaded the .cab and followed the instructions for the reset. I'm also using WAP to now try and access the vodafone live sites...but no joy!!! :-( The following errors occur on each respective 'potential' Vodafone live page.
http://live.vodafone.co.uk - Gives me the error message: Bad Gateway - The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. Additionally, a 502 Bad gateway error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
http://live.vodafone.com - This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later.
http://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.com This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. check the connection and try again later.
wsp://live.vodafone.co.uk
Can someone please advise if I need to do anything else...or can you think of anything else that I can try???
By the way...I do at least get the EXCEPTIONS working out in Connections...By inputting the above sites into EXCEPTIONS, they do connect over WAP rather than IS(3G).
Pleeeeeease help! Cheers.
The cause is just your tricks to use exception...! Don't try to use it, even if it connect right...do a manual connect you will see the difference
I got those sorts of error messages when I was trying to work out how to use the exception list too. Very long "loading" times, followed by IE timeout errors.
Should work fine if you set your connections so that the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet" are using the "Contract WAP" settings...
Same here?!

Same here?! Kaiser (Vario III) with Dutty´s Kaiser Final 2 (TouchFlo). Running fine.
What happened:
Try to establish internet connection. "wap.vodafone.de" (without Proxy)
- Vodafone Mail works fine (POP)
- IE (only http://www.vodafone.de) works fine
- Every other page (also wsp://live.vodafone.de) The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
Add Proxy 139.007.029.001 like it is written in some "Threads":
- Vodafone Mail --> did not work any longer. Sync error (Could not establish connection)
- No IE connection is possible.
Any idea?
Thanks. Bye.
Reversing the Vodafone cab file
Hi Sub69
I have been able to use Vodafone Live TV fine on my TyTn II for sometime but recently I wanted to look on a site that won't work as it said that my phone had been detected as a Symbian S60 unit and wanted me to download a .sis file which obviously won't work on the TyTn II. Have you got a cab file that does the reverse of the vodafone Live cab file and reverts the TyTn back to a WM6 device as far as some programs are concerned. I will then be able to toggle between the 2 as and when I need to.
Thanks
I'm trying to be as explicit as possible here, so that people find it easy to perform this process. So read the first post through and it should work out.
I'll update A.Bagatov's entry in the wiki once I figure every single step out.
Hello,
I'm excited to get VoIP working. I've referred to the previous thread, and have come up with the following _setup.xml to work with Gizmo5:
<snipped>
My main purpose might seem a little weird, but I'd like to be able to make calls when my phone is tethered on a PC with ActiveSync... Through testing, it seems possible, as I current have "Internet Calling: Available" when I allow a data connection through ActiveSync, with the phone radio on or off.
My questions are...
Does that _setup.xml look alright? It must, since I have "Internet Calling: Available," right?
Also, how can I tell if the settings are correct? Should the carrier be reflecting the "provider name" attribute of the _setup.xml file? It currently states Home (I have the radio off), but have "Internet Calling: Available," and can not place calls.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Matt
[possibly SOLVED]
For Gizmo5:
Code:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="VoIP">
<parm name="SIPSettings"
value="<provision key='1232ab01' name='gizmo5'>
<provider name='Gizmo5' />
<user account='[email protected]' password='password'
uri='sip:[email protected]'
allowedauth='digest'/>
<sipsrv addr='sip:proxy01.sipphone.com' protocol='UDP' role='proxy'>
<session party='First' type='pc2pc' />
<session party='First' type='pc2ph' />
</sipsrv>
<sipsrv addr='sip:proxy01.sipphone.com' protocol='UDP' role='registrar'/>
</provision>" />
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
Change registry settings as described in this post.
[TESTING]
All with "Use Internet Calling" set to: "Whenever possible."
Tethered/No Wifi/No EDGE:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "No Service"
Wifi/No Tether/No EDGE:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
*EDGE/No Wifi/No Tether:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
EDGE/Wifi/No Tether:
- Internet access: Okay.
- Internet calling: "Searching..."
Note that "Searching..." reportedly means it's connected... it just does not update the status to available... I think this is because there is code missing from the VoIP installer CAB to handle whatever handshake acknowledgment situation occurs... I also figure this means there may be issues receiving calls; but that's not what I'm using it for anyway. (see Gizmo5's Backdoor calling feature [currently only available in the US])

To activate Internet Calling over 3G (thanks Sleuth255 & Golfman),
go to the HKLM\Comm\RTC\AdapterTypes with a registry editor (like Total Commander),
now delete both the "1" and the "2" values that are here,
next reset your device and Internet calling will connect over the data connection for your phoneservice.

Oh... damn... Gizmo5 would work, but the Backdoor dialing is only available in the US for now:
"I have a non-US number. Can I use backdoor dialing?
We are launching the program with US numbers only but hope to expand it to international numbers in the middle of 2008. If you are a registered Gizmo5 user you will receive email when we expand the program to your country."
sip:[email protected] is an example of a backdoor dial.
Hi, has anyone managed to install this, and get it to work? It doesn't install properly on my Diamond and I can only see settings for it, nothing under programmes.
I get an error along the lines of "programme not installed correctly" or something like that ... can't stand Voice Commander pre-installed.
Thanks, M.
same happend to me, but just ignore the mesage. it is installed anyway. afaik the icon for voice command always was under settings it never had one in programs.
i just installed it and it works fine, allthough it seems that the recognition is not as good as it was on my tytn. will see if it improves over time...

Interesting. I set the button to be key 1 (same as where voice commander normally resides) and yet when I press it I just get a single tone beep response, not the normal multi-tone initiating voice command one.
Haven't tried it with my bluetooth headset yet as the charge has run out on it!
Also, has anyone figured out how to remove the installed Voice Commander?
Thanks, M.
works for me!
vc1.6 i installed it 5 times and did not work after i assigned my only f))king button it just one beep not like used to 3 beeps so i create a icon in programs dir and then link button to that it works perfect. perfect recognition if anything better and faster than any of my previos pda's
MS VC 1.7 freezes Daimond to hard reset
I Posted in another thread, but it should indeed belong here :
Hope to see a working solution for MSVC soon , an official fix from MS would even do fine.

I flashed to Eslite 1.0, so i might give it another try now
I have MSVC 1.6 OK on my Diamond. It is true, that the installation tells me error when I install, but now it is OK. You can configure MSVC in Settings/Voice Command. Then:
1) you have to create link to voicecmd.exe (for example voicebtn.lnk), copy this link into \windows\star menu\programs
2) in settings/button assignment, you have to reassign long press of phone button to this new link voicebtn.lnk and now is MSVC functional

Rebooting resulted in a brick when tapping "settings" which forced a hard reset again damned

How to open websites in opera using voice command
I'm running a german version of MSVC v1.60.46220 and it's running very smooth. I read the tutorials and configured it to meet my needs. Now I want to open websites with opera using a simple command like "Start xda-developers". To do this I created a link (.url) in a subfolder of programs. This works with Pocket IE. To open the site in opera I changed the file association for the extension .url to \windows\OperaL.exe "%1%. Now opera starts but the home screen appears instead of the site that is linked. help appreciated
I cant get the talking ringtone to work on my diamond.
I adjusted the settings so it should work without an headset.
Do you have to adjust the ringtone somewhere?

to create the link mentionned by rxdoctor in post #4 :
1 - from your PC, go to \program files\voice comand on your pda (via Active Sync connection), create a shortcut here (like you would do for a file on your PC)
2- move this shortcut to \Windows\start menu\Programs on the pda
Then the name of this shortcut appears in the drop down list of programs you can assign to the button.
Now I have MS voice command working fine

i went to a 3store today to get a TYTN 2 on 3 network UK. I thought we could use the free skype minutes they offer on other handsets, but they said no, use the wifi!!!
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to connect to their skype service. Thanks
PS: Please include links to any software or recent methods you might know.
Hi, I'd also like to know if this possible. Have a 3 PAYG sim and get 30 days free skype when I pay for the internet add-on but cannot work out how to use the 3G network for my calls. Cheers
I think fring will do what you want.
The website says you can make skype calls.
www.fring.com "fring is based on a unique thin-client technology that for the first time enables true VoIP over 3G, GPRS and WiFi networks"
I installed it on my stock rom AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) but have not tested.
I hope that helps.

Thanks but i think for that you should have access to the internet. I can easily use the skype program instead. The problem is that skype is not the type of skype 3 network is using ( they use a java based program).
I read an article and someone had used the skype from a LG phones with 3 and Esmertec Jbed, but that was an Australian version. does anyone have a UK version?
This would rock if it is possible! Anyone know where to download a UK version?
I think we need to find someone with a non nokia phone from 3 UK, so he can give us the jar file. preferably LG
What do you think?
anyone from uk? or anyone knows a professional UK website? please
Anyone found this?
Can anyone with a TyTn II from the 3 network confirm if it comes with Planet 3 and Skype software installed?
I use Three...
Ah, you forgot to read the ultra-small fine print that states that the offer for *all* phones has expired and it's now only on *selected* handsets that seem to exclude the TyTN 2, also you can't get the sim-only and install the Three free Skype or Live Messenger on a non-Three phone+rom without some custom ROM hacking.
To make matters worse, if you get the £5 Unlimited Internet Access, the small print is that Three block Skype and Live Messenger so they can't be used (thought I think you can buy the £10 option that allows them?) - even if you want to pay for them outside the unlimited bundle. You can use IM+ BeejiveIM etc, to access Live Messenger though, and as far as I'm aware it seems to be included in the Unlimited access...
Oh, and if you want to access Planet3/My3 on your phone you can do so, but first you need to go into Advanced Config and change your "User Agent Custom Base" to "HTC_TyTN_II Mozilla/4.0" and then use the URL "http://mobile.three.co.uk/837_sc/index.do"
The Planet3/My3 will only work when accessing the page though the 3 connection and not WiFI or ActiveSync, but is acuttaly pritty nifty at checking you accound balance, tops ups, addons and such like.

Thanks a lot for the information you provided. Damn it, I made a big mistake as i could've got the Nokia N95 with Skype and Live Msg + unlimited internet for £5 cheaper every month...!
Hi guys,
This is a solution for the Skype on Three network issue. I had placed it on another forum (http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?p=385677) and one guy has reported it working, but apparently, it might not work with WM5, only with WM6. Please give it a whirl and let me know if it works for you.
Feedback is great for both me as well as others

(I have great and joyous news)
I believe that I have succeeded in getting the native Iskoot WM6 client for Skype to connect to the Three/3 service. I am still testing it and would appreciate your feedback.
Steps
a) Download and install the Iskoot client for Windows Mobile 6 . Try the direct link here (http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/Wi...1.54_WMpro.CAB)
b) After installation, start the application, but DO NOT sign in. Instead exit it. The reason for doing this is to create the default registry entries for Iskoot.
c) Now start your favourite registry editor (I personally use Resco Registry Editor, but you should be able to use any. Please do not ask me how to use the registry editor. This is not the appropraite forum.)
d) Head for the following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE
e) Update all the following entries to the same value "http://mobile.three.co.uk/948" (do not include the "double quotes")
BackupHost
CallUrl
DefaultSkHost
Pushhost
f) Exit the registry editor of choice and start and log into Iskoot. This might take some time. It took me about five minutes.
It should now be configured to connect to the 3 Skype service. To cross-verify, check that the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Cal lNumber has the value +447838333894 (the 3 Skype dial-out number). It should be automatically added by the software.
As I have mentioned earlier, I am still testing this. However, with this implementation, it should not use your included minutes, but the free Skype allocation. Please test the same and let us all know if that is the case or you have noticed that your inclusive minutes have been used up.
I do not know how to modify cabs. But if somebody can rebuild the original Iskoot cab with these settings built-in, that would be great.
I have noticed that the sound quality on this is considerably better as compared to the Skype Java client.

Thanks for the information. I tried it on my Hermes and it worked great.
Unfortunately, when I tried the same thing on my Kaiser, all I ever get is "Currently unable to connect".
I can't see why there would be any difference between the two phones, but the Hermes never fails and the Kaiser never succeeds!
Any suggestions?

The iskoot link is http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/WindowsMobile/iSkootForSkype1.1.54_WMpro.CAB
How do you get the address http://mobile.three.co.uk/948? I am looking for the same thing for three italy, so I cannot use that url. I have Kaiser and a three skypephone, wich include 10 hours per day of free skype call, so I will love to use the iskoot software on Kaiser and lunch outside the windows the Amoi!
Thanks

For Windows Mobile 6.1, MS .net Framework 3.5 is required, otherwise, "Currently unable to connect" error might appear
SkypeOut is officially supported (if not, very soon) by 3UK,
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/allfeatures/3skypephone/overseascalling/
with some restrictions (read the small print!)
I failed to get Skypein to work, however.
And Skypeout is a bit unstable at the moment, might be 3UK is upgrading their servers...

I think what some people did is to download a java version of the iskoot (for other non-WM phone) and decompiled the java class/jad file and find the URL string. I guess if you can somehow intercept the outgoing network traffic from a 3 customized iskoot client running on another phone (perhaps on a Symbian phone trying to communicate to the server via wifi, which wouldn't connect successfully I believe, but still let you), parse the network packet to find out its intended destination will do the trick too.

Thanks for the tip, but the problem is that the only phone with skype is the amoi 8512 (http://www.3skypephone.com/english/index.html have you ever seen it?) I do not have x-series with skype, but a specific offer wich works only with this phone. This phone does not have wifi, so I cannot sniff packet through network, and the iskoot client is not java, but specifically made for it (when I run it, the Java log does not apper), so I do not know how I could extract the url. The only thing I have done is to get its user agent to replace it on the Tytn II, the Amoi 8512 user agent is " [FONT="]Amoi 8512/R22.0 NF-Browser/3.3[/FONT]" without double quote, of course.

I was in your situation until a week ago when I found the 3 UK setting. It is so frustrating that I knew all it requires is a correct URL address yet I didn't know what it is!
What you may want to try is to first identify which X-series phone that 3 Italy support apart from the skypephone. And then change your Tytn II 's broswer agent string to one of those phone that use a JAVA iskoot client instead of a native client like Symbian client. Then use your phone browser to 3 ITA portal and try to download the iskoot (Skype) software. 3 ITA server should now think that you have a compatible phone so it will present you with the Java client. Once you go the .jar file, you can proceed to extract the URL from there...
I think people used SEW910I to get the 3 Australia client.
Try this for the Browser agent string:
SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
I tried the above suggestion myself to try to get the URL from 3 UK's client, but I can't remember why I stopped, and then later I found that the URL is already know on some other forums on the Internet...
Good luck!
