Applications sent to background when switched off - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Hello,
a few weeks ago I installed WM6 on my Vodafone VPA compact IV.
My only problem with WM6 is:
When I switch off my PDA, all applications running in foreground are minimized, when I switch on again.
This behaviour is always the same, even if I test it after a hard reset with no software installed. Always all applications are in backgroud after I switched on again.
In WM5 I never had this problem.
I found no switch in my system settings to change this. And even in SKTools I found no switch.
Is this the normal behaviour of WM6 or is there something wrong?
And how can I change it?
Thanks in advance!
Regards
Thomas

spontaneous soft reset every so many minutes

Hello,
My T-Mobile MDA Vario spoke Dutch which was very unformortable so I unlocked it and installed the Qtek ROM. Installation was fine.
However, it kept on being confused about the state of the "flight mode"; either I could make phone calls even though the icon said it was not connected to the network (aerial with X) or it did not want to connect to GPRS even though it was on the T-Mobile network
Otherwise it all worked fine.
In an attempt to get rid of this annoying behaviour I installed the K-Jam ROM found on the FTP server of this website. Installation was fine again, however now the device soft resets itself all the time and does not always want to turn on when I push the button on top. The soft reset frequency is very unpredictable, and turning phone on or off does not really make a difference.
Any clue?
Many thanks in advance
Manhattan.
It looks like the reset problem is solved after installing an updated i-mate ROM that resides in the upload section of this site's FTP. It seems to me it has only an updated extended rom part, perhaps someone has figured out what's the difference?
thanks
manhattan
what's the filename? i couldn't find it...

Can't get 3rd party SIPs to work on T-Mobile MDA(HTC Wizard)

Greetings fellow tweakers,
I am having a problem with my newly acquired US-version T-Mobile MDA Vario (aka HTC Wizard).
For some reason, I can't get ANY 3rd party SIPs (software input panels) to work with this damned thing. NONE. I have tried at least half a dozen (Calligrapher, InterKey, etc.), and the result is always the same. The SIP installs, and when I click on the SIP icon, the option shows on the popup menu (although that menu takes FOREVER to display). Then, when I try to select it, the device reverts to the default keyboard SIP and the one I installed never works.
I once had this problem on my older Wallaby device, and it mysteriously went away. Is it possible that I have a corrupted DLL or registry setting somewhere?
Is anybody else seeing this kind of problem?
Thanks, and happy hacking.
- Justin
This is a know problem with the WM5 devices. I had the same problem.
Luckily Fitaly made a version 4 which doesn't have this problem.
All the other alternetive input methods suffer from this problem.
A small workaround: Soft reset and then choose the SIP of choice before opening any other programs. Works most of the time. Sometimes Todayplugins can interfere.
Wouter
I've tested a bunch of SIPs, and there's several where after the install, you need to soft reset first. Some of them actually do this for you (TopKey was one of them, I think).
I know this topic is months old, but I have recently run into this issue. I'm using Molski's WM5 v3.3 and am getting the EXACT issue as the 1st post recounts.
I install calligrapher, soft reset, run anything, click the keyboard icon (in order to change input methods), the PDA pauses for 7-12 seconds, menu pops up, I click on calligrapher, the keyboard icon remains and the input method doesn't change.
I absolutely LOVE calligrapher, and this is really worrying me on this AKU version.
Is there a fix for this or another AKU3.3 ROM that allows calligrapher to work?

Incoming calls - big problem

I posted the problem in another thread yet (as a reply). I open a new thread because the problem is again here unfortunately.
The problem first occured after the installation of the TomTom app.
After installing and downloading and installing the included map everything works fine. But then I connect the TyTN II to the PC and the TomTom Home application. The app was searching for updates for the installed TomTom Navigator. It brings up the message that a update is available, it was the "phone database - connect2internet" update. And now that's the strange and very annoying part: After installing the update, the phone doesn't play ANY kind of ringtone on an incoming call and the ringtones are very low.
Neither removing the TomTom app nor doing a soft reset solved the problem. After a masterreset everything was fine again. I installed then all apps (except TomTom) needed again and did a backup with Sprite Backup. After this I installed the TomTom Navigator again with the update... same problem! No ringtones on incoming calls. I did then a restore and all was ok again.
But this evening I called me myself and no ringtone was played. That's so annoying. A phone should really not have such problems. It seems that the problem is not TomTom dependent. I have these apps installed:
-TomTom Navigator
-Sprite Software Sprite Backup
-PocketCM Keyboard
-Pocket eSword
-Microsoft SQLE 2.0
-Mobipocket.com Reader
-PocketCM Contacts 0.15
-Saman SMSDeliveryReceiptFix
-MohairSofa Calendar+ Today Plugin
I hope that you can help me, I really don't know what I should do anymore.
Thank you very much in advance
Best regards

What happened with your settings? Are they still "normal", or can you see that the volume has changed to mute for example?
I've heard some people having problems with HTC Home changing profile settings to auto.

The settings are normal as they should be. It's also strange, that the ringvolume is much lower now than before when trying to play a ringtone in the settings. (The volume in the settings is the same).

You seem to tbe the only tomtom home user who is having this problem. So lets start at the beginning:
1) When you test the device, is it definitely in normal/ringer profile?
2) What have you set incoming calls to do in start, settings, sounds and notifications, notifications tab?
3) If both above are correct, does the phone vibrate if you change them to vibrate options?

Thank you for your reply.
1) Yes, there is the normal profile activated
2) There are all the normal settings (manufacturer settings)
3) This one I can't check now becuase I did a masterreset already
The strange thing too, is that the ring volume is suddenly very low. This occurs at the same time with the no ringtone on incoming calls problem.
It seems that the problem is not related with the TomTom. Maybe with another app like PocketCM, Keyboard CM or ???
Thank you again and best regards

Only way to find out is to take them off, then install tom tom and then test the device. If all is well, then add back one program at a time and test.
You may actually find that instaling them in a different order fixes it (some early WM6 roms would only allow some apps to work if you installed them after certain others and before yet more).
Thank you again for you replies. Yesterday on midday the problem was here again, no ringtones on incoming calls. Not even the restore of a backup made previously helped. One day before the restore could solve the problem.
I decided in agreement with the HTC Support and the service centre to send the device to the service center for repair. I really hope that they can solve the problem.

I as well am having this problem! It is extremely annoying as I have already taken the phone back and had it replaced and now the new one is doing the same thing.
I also had TomTom installed though?
Don't update to the newest TOMTOM using the Home Application. The update isnt even for the TYTN II, it's for other devices that need it. My TOMTOM version is 6.010 (7720) GPS Driver v1.20 MAP USA and CANADA v650.1109 - v675.1409
Everything works perfect including Trafic and I do not use the TOMTOM HOME for the fact that I do not need any sh-tware on my PC.

Today I phoned to the repair centre where I sent my device to. They told me, that the TyTN II is already on the way back to me. They changed the flexboard. I suppose this is approximately the same like the mainboards in the computers. I hope I'll get it today an I hope really that the problem has been solved. I will install the tools I need and then let's see...
Best regards

Yesterday I got my TyTN II back from the repair centre.
But it's unbelievable, the same problem occured this morning again. No ringtone played on incoming calls. And now the battery cover doesn't fit good to the device now. It's so annoying! I have to send the device back to the service centre again. I can't believe it!

Fixing Ringtones
I had this problem and worked out how to fix it.
Look at the following Reg Key (change midifile to mp3file for mp3 issues)
Delete any EventSoundHandlers already in place and add this Key.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandlers\{245F94CF-DD9C-46F9-B4C8-D2B14A877893}]
@="XME EventSound Player"
Problem fixed.

activesyn problem in 1.93ROM

Did anybody notice an improvement in activesyn?
My ROM is 1.93.831.1.
The activesyn. is still unstable. It fails intermittently and usually needs a soft reset before it can succeed.
But after repeated reset, sometimes the favorite contact list would be cleared up. How come there is still bug???
What is HTC doing?????
I am feeling desperate.
My old PPC 2003SE can even do activesyn within 10-20sec but diamond need at least ~1min to do so!!!
Switching off "enable advanced network functionality" seems to work in 1.34 ROM but not in 1.93 ROM.

Time issue in Weatherpanel, very strange....

I have an interesting problem with the Weatherpanel application and windows 6.1 on my stock Kaiser. I have set the program to use the system time but it shows up as one hour earlier on the today screen. I have tried fooling it but it reverts when I sync the program.
I have an old Ipaq 5555 that I use as a gps and have same program working just fine on it. It seems to have happened when I upgraded Kaiser to HTC's stock 6.1 rom but that was also when DST kicked in. I think this is a windows problem more than Weatherpanel but cant be sure. Not a huge issue but one of those things that piss you off until you can fix it.
Any ideas? Is there a special registry setting that sets time that program could be using? The system time is correct in all other apps and on today screen as well but would like to disable that one as the top bar is pretty crowded.
