Best Wizard Radio Performance: Asia - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hey All,
Just taking a quick poll for all you Wizard owners in Asia...
Just wondering what radio works best for you in your country.
Can you please post the radio version you are using as well as what country you're using it in?
I'm personally using 2.19.11 since it was released with the last Dopod Asia WWE ROM 2.21.13 (at least according to the Wizard wiki)
Here's a quick link to the Wizard ROM versions:

Thanks to all...

It depends on your location and service provider. Voting for "Asia" is useless, just try yourself and determine the one that best suit your situation.

I would agree...best radio version depends on your area...dont waste your time waiting for poll responses...just try different versions for a day or two and determine yourself.

I am using Radio 2.69. So far, no drop call or missing SMS. Call quality is very good.

Any analysis on what Radio 1.06.02 offers over 1.02.10?

I have searched the forum for some qualitative information on what the radio upgrade gets you. The masochistic geek in me is dying to upgrade the radio (after the recent SX66 Upgrade from Siemens) just to have the latests but... I have not seen anyrhing other than some conflicting anecdotal remarks on what the 1.06.02 Radio offers. Has anyone done any testing before and after the update? If so please share.
If not - I will probably lose control of my better judgement and do the upgrade. Any advice on what I should expect to see change and what might be measureable (without extra equipment) would be great. In that case I can take measurements before the upgrade and after the upgrade and post results.
BTW: this forum is great!
I am running the 1.33.110WWE Rom on my pda2k and recently was running the 1.06.00 radio, but I have changed to the 1.06.02 radio from the Qtek 1.22.167WWE rom. My b/t is better with a full 25 ft range and my wifi connects much faster and stays connected.People that I talk with say that there is no longer any echoing in my voice.
All in all, I am very happy with my pda2k now. It is an 8 out of 10.(Finally!)
Hope that this helps......

Thanks for the reply. I also saww a post that the BT dropped after the Seimens 1.33.10 update with Radio 1.06.02. Have you noticed anything else like more signal bars in GSM/GPRS?
Thanks

Europian guys - what is the best radio version for us?

I am using radio version 1.46.00.11 (Indigo lite and other ROM's). I have sometimes poor cellular reception, sometimes I am not available at all.
I am thinking that changing my radio version, might help in this.
I am asking the Europian buddies here (900/1800 GSM networks) what is the best/optimized radio version at your own knowledge/experience?
I believe the American optimized version is different since Americans are using the 950/1900 GSM networks.

Have tried the shipped radio version and my current 1.46.30.11. The performance is the same, meaning relatively speaking bad indoor (low or no signal sometimes). Outdoor good.
same for me
I was told bt someone that I might be using a bit incompatible radio version, so I'm trying to investigate.
I update my radio to 1.46.30.11 from 1.38... and and the big differens is that gps performes much faster and everything seems to be just better with this radio. seems that my batterie is last a little bit longer than before too,
so Im very happy with this update.
I had 1.46.30.11 but went back to 1.46.00.11 and its much better !!
No more dropped calls for me
Dunno why but I think for Europe 1.46.00.11 is better ...
Kind regards,
I returned to... 1.38 which seems a bit better than 1.46.xxx
Using 1.46.00.11 in the Netherlands without problems, but the original was radio was fine also. Basically, could not detect any differences so far for me but will skip flashing to 1.46.30.11 since the numerous bad experiences with it.
Where can i find the 1.38.00.11 radio? only radio

Unlocked AT&T Tilt (8925) to HTC ROM

Hey guys,
I bought a new unlocked Tilt (Kaiser 8925) the other day and I tried to install PointUI on it, but it seems to be choking with the AT&T OS.
I figured it might be prudent to flash to the standard HTC ROM without all the extra AT&T crap (I'm on T-Mobile, so it needs to work with that at least, lol). Problem is I don't know WHAT ROM to download or even how to install it. I did some digging around and a friend recommended this forum to me so I'm hoping you guys can help. I did poke around but didn't see any threads relating to what I need, but I could have easily missed one.
Either way, please help. Thanks!
System info:
HTC AT&T branded Tilt (Kaiser 8925) running WM6.0 (CE OS 5.2.1620 build 18125.0.4.2). ROM Version 1.57.502.2 (8/25/07) with radio version 1.27.12.11 and protocol version 22.45.88.07H.
The problem that presents with PointUI is this: When the UI loads other apps (messaging, contacts, there is a gap at top, it won't go back to the home, and it stops working all together). I am using PUI 1.02b. If I am using the wrong one, let me know!
Thanks in advance for the help guys. Sorry I'm a nub.
you did not spend enough time poking around

welcome to the forums
Thanks!
I did actually go through those, but I didn't know which ROM I should get. The closest I was able to figure out was by matching the radio versions, correct?
1.56.405.5 (radio 1.27.12.11) original wwe rom found here would be the appropriate one in this case then?
Also, since mine is an unlocked AT&T phone on T-Mobile, I'm going to have to unlock it again, or with the ROM listed above suffice?

Kaiser/emonster in Japan

Hey all. Great site, I'm just learning my way around my kaiser with all of the great info here.
I had a question I hope someone could answer. I am currently using an unlocked Kaiser on Softbank, but EMOBILE came out with the Kaiser also. The emobile kaiser is on 1.7ghz while the unlocked one i have is on 2.0ghz(please correct me if i'm wrong).
I understand popping in a emobile sim won't work b/c of the difference in hertz. So my question is, is it possible to change the hertz to 1.7Ghz w/some sort of software (ROM or radio etc) or is the hertz hardware/chipset dependant?
Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie

htc Japan Rom
Hmmm. I have not been able to flash this rom successfully. I would like to install the original rom now. Does anyone have the original Japan eMonster eMobile HTC Kaiser Rom? It is not on HTC website.
can somebody help me??
i have problem with emobile s11ht.
this device only work on 1700MHz freq.. can it change to 2100MHz??
coz i can't use the 3G HSDPA by now...
You guys need to flash a radio from Emobile. Either flash an OEM rom from Emobile, or a dumped radio from one.
Since it's so new and rare, there isn't any users with that here, yet since you're the only place in the world using 1700MHz UMTS (besides T-Mobile USA's inactive 3G).
is it mean that there still a chance to flash the radio freq to 2100MHz??

If you don't want to be on Emobile's network ever again, you should then try flashing one of the popular roms on the Kaiser ROM forum.
They all will give you 850/1900/2100MHz radio support, but I don't think you can ever go back to Emobile again unless you can flash an Emobile rom/radio again.
How can we dump our Radios and rebuild it again?

Thanks for the hint. I just bought one of these guys 2 days ago. Haven't done so much. Only Hard-SPL it from the Kaiser Team.
It worked with out a glitch. But, before doing the obvious, turning the JPN version to ENU, I need to make sure that just in case I can resotre that piece of machine back to it's condition.
Question is: How can we (there are some people here in the same situation) dump the rom and have it ready for a re-flash?
Thanks for any advice.
We need a Emobile Radio ROM
Well.
I'm kind of getting annoyed. According to what I have read here, there is a bad chance of bricking the phone if we just flash the phone with the aviable ROM's that we see around here.
I manage to know that, since I come from a different background and I usually take the precaution of reading the technical specifications. So, oh yes, Emobile works with W-CDMA in the 1700 Ghz range.
I definitely need to flash this phone to English (or Spanish) but after backing up the Radio ROM.
Now, how about this:
What if, when cooking a new ROM, we don't include the radio in KaiserKitchen?
I mean, when it comes to compile the packages and all that, what if we omit the Radio File?
In other words: If we omit the radio rom config file from the flash image, will a flashed phone will work?
Any clue?
Today I bought my eMonster after reading these forums for a few weeks.
So far here is where I am at:
KAIS140 MFG
SPL-1.0.Olipof
CPLD-8
Radio 1.71.09.01 (Original was 1 63 08 26)
Currently running RUU_Kaiser_WM6.1_ASIA_WWE_3.10.707.1.YK_Test
Obviously these questions will have some Japanese localization but any help would be great.
Currently I can make calls and be heard and hear the other party.
I have wifi and 3G access access.
However the problems I have are as follows.
The camera no longer works. It simply gives me a black screen.
Audio works when sliding open the phone but if I try to run media player the audio then stops working completely.
It seems there were several applications that came with the original rom that are now lost including the GPS program.
Also it seems that although the OS is in English now input itself seems limited to chinese.
Any tips from users who have an Emonster or can point me in the right direction would be great.
Thank you so much for this great wealth of information.

Which Radio Is best

I keep reading about radios and some people have better luck with different versions. is this to do with which country / network your connected to. If so could we make a list of radios that work best for you e.g.
My setup
UK/ t-mobile = L26 7.5/ 1.10.25.25 radio
feels like im losing battery quickier then the original radio
Thank you
I would also be interested in the results of this.
Was using 1.09.25.35 on 02 uk. Since going to dutty's 1.8 ROM, moved to 1.10.25.25 which seems to be better with this ROM (initial impressions).

Same for me on 3 in the UK - which drops back to orange in 2g areas. Still not as good receiption as my trinity though.
1.10 boosts my signal with some towers, at home i got an better signal with an increase of 3 bars, but at work it has dropped 2 bars compared to 1.09.

1.09.25.14 seems to work best for me here in Beijing, China.
Good battery life, good reception.
my opinion: nobody knows what is changed, so nobody knows what is best for you! i tend to believe that incrementing numbers take incremental benefits - and if i notice something which I dislike i go back one step!
in this moment, i am testing 1.12 with the same philosophy, one week of trial - and then let's make the point!
