Anyone had any luck connecting their AT&T Tilt/8925/Kaiser to a Mac using iSync or have a recommendation for any other apps to keep their address book/iCal up to date?
Thanks!

Is iSync not an option for this phone? Is there a free software that does the trick?
free option
Yes there's now def a free option, tho not tested it myself, check: http://www.eltima.com/products/syncmate/
Personally i reckon the missing sync is the dogs wotsits so would say go for that as its well worth the money and they've just got it up to speed with leopard as well!
SyncMate does also work quite well with HTC devices if you configure the MAc and the mobile device accordingly. And it's free!
I love syncmate. Works perfectly. Just set up your device, install the syncmate driver cab on your phone, and bam, you can sync everything.
A much better/slimmer piece of software compared to Missing Sync. Missing Sync seems very bloated and complicated.
Syncmate not so good
I can't sync correclty neither the contacts (no photo, no ringtone) nor the calendar. My HD crashed so I no longer have Missing sync which was working great. Anyone can help for a serial or a crack ? thanx for your help
syncm, ate worked great for me for a while....but ever since they have the PRO upgrade every time i connect it asks me to install the syncmate dfriver, which is already installed!! i can do this 3-4x a week, still no sync.
Also, the sync never worked that well w/ ical...
I've got to add my vote for The Missing Sync, http://www.markspace.com/

I've just installed Microsoft Vista and find it a very nice operating system.
For my phone I had to install the Vista version of ActiveSync, I paired up my phone with that prorgam and it worked flawlessly.
But what FU#[email protected]% idiot has made an option to overwrite the phone data with that of outlook WITHOUT asking a deletion approval.
When installing software on my Vista machine askes me several time if I'm sure.... But that louwsy program just deletes everything without even asking.
Fortunately, I was just a merely 250 contacts that I've completely lost since my backup was lost due to the Vista installation.....
Normally the contacts would be in the deleted messages box, but since I've turned of that option I completely lost everything...
BASTARDS !!!!!!
(Sorry for that.)
I'm going outside now and break something....
Hope that'll release my frustration..

hahaha
It happened to me several times cuz I always reflash my PDA and format my laptop.. I decided to save them in Microsoft's servers and add them to Messenger live contacts
When you pair your devices the MOBILE DEVICE CENTER is asking you how you want your data synchronized: replacing on mobile device, replacing on pc or combining! I guess you haven't paid attention! Even after you paired your devices you can change this options in the settings.
yikes, im sorry about that. Also happened to me not too long ago except on XP when I deleted the contacts on my phone. I resynced hoping that phone contacts would be restored, but instead stupid activesync deleted all the contacts off outlook even though AS was set to "replace items on device"!
Thankfully, all my contacts were moved to the "Deleted Items" folder, and I could restore them! (hit ctrl-6 when in outlook) I hope this helps.

Microsoft needs to make Vista Windows compatible.
After this happened to me twice I started to backup my contacts regularly with PIM Backup...

damn straight! best program i've ever used. by backing up to a memory card once/twice daily you cant really go 'wrong' as such!
now, if only it was a 'requirement' for all cooked roms!
sorry to hear about your loss. lol. i very nearly lost my ENTIRE MSN messenger contact list (comprising of some 400+ contacts) but luckily i had 'tried' WLM on my smartphone before hand and it had synced them to that!
WLM is weird in the only sense that it will delete from both your phone and from your messenger list!
go back to XP Pro.

Typically one should never upgrade a Micky$ OS until SP1 is released, XP and W2k are both great examples. My biggest complaints are USB and network speed when copying data... just today went back to XP on my Thinkpad... just SO much easier when dealing with PDA's... (more importantly, my version of Ghost Server won't live under Vista... that's a deal closer for me... and screw Virtual PC and such, no time or desire)
Here is My 2 cents worth:
Windows 95 was a huge improvement over Windows 3.1. --- Excellent Job!!!!
Windows 98 was just a suckier version of Windows 95.
Windows Millenium Edition ME totally sucked. I fell for it. They got my $100.00 ----- ripped me off.
However Windows XP really hummed. --- Excellent Job!!!!
Windows Vista is just a suckier version of Windows XP.
Windows Vista = ME2 Only this time they're Not getting my $100.00
Thats just my Opinion.
Stick with XP Pro...............................(I can hear Mac users saying "get a Mac")
Mac is not a solution - it limits just about anything you want to do with the computer. IMHO Win XP offers much more in terms of available software and hardware compatibility (even over Vista).
I agree Mac is Not an answer. I got a supervisor at work always telling me how much better a Mac is. I never agree with him.
My Laptop has a door on the side where you can slide out the HDD. I have 3 Hard Drives.
1 has Linux -- can't begin to figure that one out.
2 has XP -- its my Old Faithful. Tried and True. The one I use.
3 has Vista Ultimate -- slmgr -rearm every 30 days. Testing it. It really does suck.
PIM Backup is the best!
Sorry to hear. I use intellisync to sync my data. I sync some stuff from lotus notes and some stuff from outlook. But the main reason i use intellisync is because before it does anything it prompts you with a dialog and tells you what it is about to do. Then I can go ahead or cancel or re sync everything.
I've tried other products and they didn't prompt and I've spent hours cleaning up duplicate entry's after the first sync.
Right now I'm having a few probs with intellisync though and am working with their support to figure it out. But its still one of the best sync programs I know of.

I just had the EXACT same thing happen to me. Its a good thing I had a "not too old" backup saved to the Airset Website. Otherwise I would have been TOTALLY screwed.
yep i know how you feel, had the same thing happen on my Magician and on the Hermes and more times than i can remember on the Nokia suite previous to that (believe it or not its worse than Activesync).
as for Vista im running it on the home laptop (it came with it) it is quite a shiny OS and considering the amount of surveys and control groups microsoft apparently did to perfect it (or finish it) its surprising there wasnt one Pocket PC user that said "hey you know that over write function in activesync..." unless there was and they didnt listen.
It wasn't Vista that caused the problem...
Personally I like Vista, the only thing I find crap is that you have to approve every program to run. It's great for security, but really crap If you play WOW, everytime the answer is yes, Vista won't remember it.
And someone mentioned that there is a choice how to sync.
That's correct, but when you pair your device it's kinda hidden in extra options I believe, I've found the button now. Still lost my contacts.
I find it really absurd that there isn't any message or approval question on the device. I think it would be nicer to let the program ask what data to keep what data to lose, if I setup syncing with data from the computer It will overwrite telephonenumber I've changed in the phone.
But I think I have got my contact almost complete again. It's a shame that I lost the phonenumbers that I pickup with te red button (ignore) or wiggle the scrollwheel up and down (silence).
Can anyone recommend a secure password manager for my kaiser that will;
1) sync via Windows Mobile Device center to a desktop companion, and
2) work with Vista.
I have for years used SplashID however it does not play well with this combo. I am finding having to manually initiate syncs with the RAPI Sync version to be a pain.
E-wallet. Has it's own sync, but uses the activesync connection to update the Kaiser. You can set up the E-wallet desktop companion to sync whenever you connect.
Handango.com
SPB Wallet is also a nice one!
I've tested many of those wallet applications and I like eWallet by Iliumsoft most. Specially the future development on this wallet seems to be the most professional. You can try it out: www.iliumsoft.com

Secret!
Secret! works very well! Secret! Desktop 5.1 works well on Windows Vista now (testet with Device Center 6.1)
see http://www.linkesoft.com/secret/
Does splashid not work then? I too have used it for years, on an iPAQ PDA. Have just got a TyTN II and was going to transfer it onto it. However, I have not used my iPAQ for a year or so now (been using a Nokia N73), and have also upgraded to vista in that time. My version of splashid is probably well out of date too.
I use AI RoboForm. Works good for me.

Here's another vote for the KeePass combination. I use this myself.
Secret by linke soft
all these password managers have one flaw imho: they focus more on form than on function. all these icons and stuff... at least i do not need that.
http://www.linkesoft.com/
offers a very "non shiny" yet very functional password manager with nice "small" yet helpful features:
data entering in txt-style, desk top application available (no icons and stuff)
automatic copy and paste
TAN or OTP management (at least interesting for german online banking)
collapsing paragraphs for better overview
read-only-mode for preventing accidental overwriting
easy backup: all in one file
i think, that is all you need to have!
Hey guys has anyone found a solution for syncing the Touch Diamond with a Mac??
I am using the latest version of Missing Sync and its not working, it starts to connect, gets to 2 dots then stops and says the connection attempt failed I click Learn More and follow the directions in there, it has instructions on allowing certain programs in the firewall and the missing sync listener is on of them, however I can't find that program either in the firewall or anywhere on my hard drive under a spotlight search, anyone else have this issue?
Anyone else try any other programs??
I have also tried sync mate, it did sync, but there were lots of entries missing and it didn't sync my calender at all.
I have now tried manually instaling the cab file for missing sync to my device but still no luck...
im using missing sync 4.0.3 on 10.5.3.. i dont have any problem syncing with my diamond. however after i sync my contacts on address book, I can't open the "people" tab on the today plug'in anymore so i have to hard reset. but for all other things, missing sync works fine.. when u sync the songs from itunes, u can ever has the album photo.
good luck
sometime buzz the USB cable, please try the one that comes with phone
Im occasionally getting the following error message when instaling, don't suppose anyone has had anything like this before??
I also used appzapper and deleted eveything it found on version 3 I amwondering if I deleted the wrong thing.
"The system extension "System/Library/Extensions/MissinSyncWM.kext" was installed improperlyand cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."
I checked the missing sync forums, and officially, they do not yet support windows 6.1. Here's the link. I guess we just have to wait for a few weeks (or months) before it'll be supported.
For uninstalling the missing sync app, I would suggest heading to their forums and posting your specific problem. Good luck.
Anyway, I'm excited with the htc diamond. I just held one yesterday and it really felt good in your hands. Although the interface is still slow (this may be due to wm itself rather than HTC's design team) but I hope that the advance config app can fix this one. I'll try to play some more this weekend.
u can try SyncMate, it can sync Address book and iCal for the unregistered version. http://mac.eltima.com/sync-mac.html
Problem solved, did a permisson repair then reinstalled and it alll worked. Also I wouldn't recommend syncmate, it garbled my contacts on my phone thankfully not on my mac though....
Have an HD2...thinking about making the official jump, being that there seems to be no solid port to the HD2.
Questing is...Will I be able to use the Microsoft My Phone app to import contacts and such to the HD7?
Thanks.
No it doen't work on wp7 only on wm6.5

Ok...if I setup my live mail with my HD2...Contacts and such will sync to my live account?...Not the other way around erasing my contacts on my phone, right?
I looked up instructions and it mentions that " your live contacts will then sync to phone"...I have no contacts on my live account....wouldn't want it to sync and delete everything I have...
Thanks.
Also, must add...I played around with the demo...and I I believe the GUI responsiveness is the best I've ever experienced and tested on ANY phone/OS combo...
There are some weird things about the new OS...but nothing that's a deal breaker. I like the approach that is being taken with the apps as well...quality over quantity. Netflix was a major attraction. I thought the Metro UI was gonna suck...but, it didn't. I also like the simplicity, I believe that also contributes to the speed of the UI.
Correct me if I'm wrong...the Windows 7 hack to the HD2 that these guys are working will boot from SD?...

you can upload your contacts to soocial.com using their winmo app, then export the .csv file to your computer. Then in hotmail (windows live), import contacts, click on the outlook box, then click browse and click on the .csv file that soocial gives you. Then when you set you your new phone and enter your windows live id, it will push the contacts onto your phone.

Hello, as previous link has expired, I've put on Dropbox the file again but I'm unable to post the link here as I don't have 10 posts on XDA forums. If interested, send me a PM.
For me (under OSX Leopard 10.5.8), synchronization worked two times, but since I've upgraded my Sensation to ICS, sync does not work anymore. Device not detected by HTC Sync... No answer at that time !
If HTC do not decide to develop a real functional soft for OSX, I'm afraid I'll have to change for an iPhone...

I can't get HTC Sync to work since upgrading to ICS either.
I tried SyncMate, but that managed to wipe my entire contacts list and calendar (which I had asked it to do to prevent duplicates) but failed to leave me with a single entry in either on my 'phone. When I tried to sync again, it then tried to re-write and duplicate every entry on the iMac in both Address Book and Calendar.
Aaargghh!
I had backed up my address book before I started, so I restored it then synced it with GMail, exported my iMac Calendars to GCal and synced them back to the HTC. Phew!
For copying music and pictures, I've had to go back to doing it manually with Airdroid.
It is a real pity that HTC Sync has stopped working as I found it very good once set up. The iTunes integration worked very well and I used this regularly to update my playlist. If HTC Sync isn't fixed, I too may find myself looking to another device.
I [may] have come up with an answer to this:
I have on my iMac a copy of VirtualBox which allows me to run Windows (tm) in a virtual environment on the iMac. I use this as a final resort for those things that I can't do, and can't replicate in the Mac OS, such as the speed camera locator update software which is Windows only.
I decided to try the PC version of HTC Sync and see if it worked. I copied the software from the internal drive of the HTC Sensation into the 'PC' and installed it. After the numerous required reboots I tried to sync the HTC with the PC version of Sync. This failed, but I was notified that an update was available for the PC Sync. I downloaded and installed this. After another reboot, I tried again. This time the HTC Sensation was recognised and tried to sync. As I don't have iTunes, Outlook or any of the required programs on the 'PC' I couldn't sync anything, but it proved that the 'phone side of things was working.
I then went back to the iMac and reinstalled the HTC Sync (Mac) software. This then located the 'phone immediately and once I set it up as before, I was able to sync almost everything that I had done prior to the ICS upgrade. For some reason, it is refusing to work with the Calendar and stops if this is selected, but everything else seems to be working as before.
Here's hoping it continues to do so...
It may be that the PC version re-wrote some corrupt settings that the Mac version couldn't, or perhaps the PC version replaced a driver App on the 'phone, either way, it seems to have fixed it. If you have a friend that has a PC, it may be worth a try?
