I have recently purchased an Orange TNTY II which did not come with the Tom Tom Software and would like to know where to buy it from. Have seen that the HTC site has it for £70 but states that it can only be use=d on one particular screen so am a little lost as to where I can get the full european maps from. Can anyone help please
well, I've just got my TyTN II this morning, and haven't installed Tom Tom yet, but had it on my Universal which I bought from www.tomtom.com - it installs through the TomTom home application which you can download to your PC.
hope this helps.
There are, of course, always "other ways" of getting TomTOM
And for your benifit (i.e. when searching), the phone is called "TYTN II" not "TNTY"
Thanks for the help guys and apologies for calling it the TNTY and not the TYTN. I have dyslexic fingers when I type.
Will see what I can find out from various sites.
Cheers and take it easy

td really appreciate if anyone could help, as ive posted before with no success. Im using a haicom gps mouse, but my problem is software. Pocket streets sucks, ive purchased Gpsdash, which is grea, but has no maps bundled. Problem is, i live in ireland, and i believe that a lot of packages dont have good mapping here. So can anyone please advise me, or send screenshots etc. on which package to buy?
There is nothing mainstream that covers Ireland that I have found.
http://www.destinator1.com/
Covers Ireland
I have destinator, Ireland is very poorly served the same as Smartst pro, it gives very little info.
xdeire, send me a message, I may have found what you need in the form of the new software and maps that include Ireland, it is by Navtech and I even found my old address in Waterford. I am running it on the Medion xscale WM2003 ppc which comes with the kit so it should work on xda, it isnt sold seperately but I dont think that is a problem. It also has voice directions/
I have just taken delivery of the new Orange HTC TyTN II and all is going well. Typically they have removed many great apps, including the Internet Calling, HTC Home and Touch stuff and other HTC includes.
The TomTom 6 Navigator that some are reporting comes with the HTC version is not included with this, so I have installed the version I had installed from CD on my Hermes (SPV M3100).
The problem is that even when updated to version 6.030, the app simply cannot connect to the GPS. How can I a) check that Orange have not removed that and b) configure the GPS control panel to work.
This is driving me barmy!!!!
(On a seperate note, is there a single list of the great CABs for the Kaiser - rather than 52 pages of a thread?!)
The cabs are all in the first few posts...
My O Tytn2 works fine with GPS... just look at the EXTERNAL GPS settings for com and speed and use them on Tom Tom?
Orange Tytn II
Is that Uk Orange .... are they calling it Tytn II or is it an SPV no.
I wasn't aware that this had been released by orange yet
Uk Orange. HTC Tytn 2 branding
Released last week.
Tom Tom 6 on Orange
if you go on to the tom tom site and under support just type built in gps
there is a tutorial for another phone but it works on tytn II
why do orange play around with the roms and remove things
has anyone tried the cooked roms on orange.
i read a post that someone who did it cannot use any network cards
steven
Hi,
I searched both TomTom thread and the forum and still could not find the .cab files for 6.030 (I only find 6.032 which is not working with my Kaiser).
Anyone can help me?
Thanks
if you have a TyTN II, use the TomTom that came with your phone on the disc.
if you have a Tilt, use the cab that I posted in my tomtom tilt (working) post. search for it.
if you have one of the other variations, I can't help you
I dont have TomTom on my cd.
I have tried installing 6.0302 and it wont work (need to upgrade ROM notice).
Anyone knows how to fix this problem? I saw couple of post regarding this error but still no resolution.
If I installed 6.030, how can I get my trial map?
Thanks!
you paid for a TyTN II from HTC and you dont have TomTom on the disc that they gave you?
Did you buy this thing used?

Not necessarily true - for example the MDA Vario III in UK doesn't ship with TomTom on disc either...

And neither does the Tilt. But the Tilt, the Vario III, and the TyTN II are all different phones sold by different companies. And since the OP said that he doesnt have TomTom on the CD that came with the phone, there's a logic assumption that they think they own a TyTN II phone and that phone did in fact come with TomTom on the supplied CD
Hi All - I can see a few post about the above software. Tom Tom are saying that V6 Navigator is not officially compatible with the Kaiser. Can I assume because there are manly positive posts about it here that it DOES work OK on the device?
I'm with O2 and although they sell (and I've bought) 'Co-Pilot', I been having a few problems with it triggering the message 'the server has been reset...blah...blah...all your data needs to be resynchronised' when I try and sync the device with Outlook. The resyncing is a L-o-n-g process and it wipes out all my quick dials too - ouch!) Co-Pilot Support have confirmed it's a known problem on some devices..so I'm not looking to fix this as O2 are sending me a credit)
Thanks
I got the "o2 Stellar" yesterday and TomTom 6 works fine.. Just find which com port the GPS is assigned to in Start -> Settings -> External GPS .. Then just assign TomTom to that com port via the configuration - I used "Other NMEA GPS Receiver" but I dont think it matters which option you choose aslong as you choose the right port.
TomTom 6 works brilliantly well on my "Stellar".
Got TomTom working on my AT&T Tilt. Pick other GPS receiver, Baud 9600, COM4.
Well, seeing as HTC sell the Tytn II with a trial version of Tomtom, you would rather expect it to work!
Got tomtom v6 working perfectly fine on my tilt with duttys v3 rom. Like posted above, most likely its com 4. Initial start takes about 30 seconds but after that full blast reception.

TomTom is not trial, it's special Kaiser full version.

The Tytn II ships with a "Taster" edition of TomTom 6 (version 6.032). Thus I expect TomTom support the platform
Actually I have a "Pukka" copy of the "Navigator 6 software and maps of western Europe", and have raised a few calls about the software (the version on my CD shipped with V6.010, so I asked for latest specifying my exact device, and was pointed to the "downloads" area of tomtom website (version 6.030 is there))

T-Mobile now offer Co-Pilot with its Tytn II varient (MDA Vario III)
Having had a quick "play" with a co-pilot system, it looked fancier (and has a better "Licensing" policy than tomtom) however I preferred the TomTom software (my Girlfriend has an old TomTom Go)
I have TomTom traffic and Safety camera's options purchase and find these excellent
If you can test co-pilot you might prefer it. I preferred tomtom
Always worked flawlessly on my HTC Kaiser, never messed with gps settings either
Tom Tom and Co Pilot
Thanks everyone. I'm going to purchase Tom Tom as Co Pilot caused a few serious problems on my Stellar
But you should have TomTom already if you own Kaiser device...

true... plus, there's always *other* ways of getting TOMTOM
Older version also works, but the 6.032 has "Build-in GPS receiver" option. In older you need to manually set it up as other NMEA receiver. In Poland EraGSM (soon to be T-Mobile) provide Vario III with full version of TT6 with regional maps.
I'm running TomTom that's "for the Trinity" from HTC e-club. I used the same thing on my Trinity and it auto picked up the internal, and has internal GPS setting. On my Tilt, this option is not available, but picked other, baud 9600, com 4 and it works nice and fast
tomtom 6
Hey all, been running tomtom 6.032 on my o2 Stellar with absolutly no problems at all!! It is by far the best sat nav for pocket pc. I have tried most programs out there but tomtom wins hands down for speed, stability and performance.. 10/10
I agree duncstar- have tried iGo and Navigon but TomTom is far quicker and more stable.
Out of interest, can someone calify the differences between the TomTom Taster and regular TomTom?

No its not - its not special in any way. You have to buy any of the maps you wish to use (except for the 'free' city map they give you).
I installed TomTom Navigator 6 V6.010 with 6.75 US/Canada maps into my Tilt...everything works except one feature in the point of interest. It doesn't list nearby "stores" in the Los Angeles. Only show Apple etc. stores that are in the east coast, what gives? What can I do to fix this? thanks
Thanks for help

Thanks Duncstar for your help. Especially as you're an O2 user in the UK too Thanks also to everyone else who offered advice and pointed me in the right direction. I did read some stuff about 'maps not showing up'. Duncstar - Did yours work literally 'straight out of the box'?
I have an imported Kaiser here in the US. Tom Tom works perfectly. I bought the usa/canada maps from amazon for $125. Installed it and no issues. I did have to select the gps, used 57,000 baud, com 4 and it's great.
There's also a "quick gps" application on your phone. Use it to help zero in the gps even better. It wants to run once a week.
I also bought and installed the Mr. T voice and I'm officially the biggest nerd on my block now. Turn Right Sucka!
Oh yeah, I"m not sure which version of TT6 was on my kaiser. When I installed the purchased software, it loaded up version 6.010. I had to go to tom tom's website and download the 6.030 version.
Hi there,
I'm new here, since I just got my new HTC Tytn II and registered here for info etc.
Although the Tytn II did replace my old Nokia 6680 and iPaq H3970 for some functions, I can't get it to work with my TomTom Rider 2nd Edition Europe.
I used the TomTom Rider with my Nokia to be able to make and receive phonecalls while on my motorbike.. always had fun with it. But now.. sigh!...
I tried everything, installed the BT_DUN.cab and copied the modemlink files into the Windows folder of my Tytn II.. but no results..
is the WM6 + Tytn II combo crap or is there another workaround/fix update orso?
Thank in advance..
Little_Bear
Tested the Kaiser with a Garmin Zumo tonight.. worked flawlessly.. so should be an issue with TomTom?
Anyone? plzzzz...
Seems like I stand completely alone in this issue.. although.. on the forum here..
I have been calling with TomTom support for a few times.. and they are not giving any comment on this problem. I talked to a supervisor of the support-department and he said the development department wo'nt give any information about if they are working on this not-want-to-pair trouble with the TytN II and TomTom Go-Rider combo.
Since the TytN II does pair with a Garmin Zümo and even the phonebook synchronisez perfectly (where most of the Symbian phones don't) I also talked to the Dutch HTC support department about this if maybe they could work something out.
Garmin did provide a softwareupdate for their Zümo devices, where before that time the TytN II wouldn't connect to the Zümo as well.
Anyone with enough technical knowledge who has ideas about this? I really don't like to sell my Rider 2nd Edition for only maybe 200 Euros and have to buy a brandnew Zümo for 575 Euros, where I still have to buy an optional bluetooth Cardo Rider for my helmet, since TomTom Rider comes with one.
Anyone?
Tried everything so far.. nothing..
I just can't believe this sjit.
always best to do trial and error with gps providers before sticking to 1 or 2 and forking money over for nothing
