Any ideas/ suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
I installed Bandswitch (2.4.3 I think) on my Kaiser (unbranded, original ROM) a little while back. Today I tried to uninstall it, which gave an error message saying could not delete a strangely named file. All seemed ok though, until I restarted my Kaiser - it now won't load past the "smart mobility" screen with the red numbers in the bottom left. I've tried the obvious things like taking the battery out etc, and it hasn't made any difference. There's nothing else I can do - can't used sprite backup because I can't connect it to my PC. Any ideas, please?
Matt
did you try a hard reset?
A very good point! Forgot that due to my panicking at a bricked device! Is back to how it was now - just need to work out how to get rid of that program, but that can wait.
Thanks

If you perform a hard reset, it should be back to the state it was in when it was shipped to you. If the program is still there, was it on the phone when you received it? If not, are you sure you did a hard reset?
I did a hard reset, then restored via sprite backup, so the program is back, but the phone is working again

I last charged my XDAIIi last night, and this morning I plugged it into cradle and now it wont charge at all. When I go to power settings it says "Main Battery Unknown and Backup Battery Unknown" I had copied in a file 'battery.dll' after being told it was the O2 today screen battery icon, which is wasnt, so im wondering if the 2 are related. Anybody know anything?
Please help!!!
tried hard reseting it?
tar-D, yeah i've tried a hard reset, but before I did I backd up using xBackup, (which took about 2 and half hours!! its crap, can anyone recommend a better one!!), and then when I did a hard reset, it did solve the problem. But the reason I backup up 1st is cos i dont really want to have to re-install everything.
I think what I'll do is a hard reset, then copy all batt*.* files in the windows directory, then restore the backup, copy all the files in to the windows directory here and see if it works. I'll let u know wot happens
if hard reset doesnt work i think u need to reflash it
Thank God! Fixed it. I tried copying the battery files over and that didnt work cos "Files in use" error. So i've just done a hard reset and re-installed everything. Works OK now. Just wish I could get the o2 battery icon and clock back on the today screen (I flashed the ROM to get rid of all the O2 crap cos Im on Orange, and didnt realise it would take the today screen plugins with it!)

Those should work.
Ok, this has happened to me several times and i have never figured out why this has happened.
today i went to school and since we were having a test i turned my tilt off. after the test i turned my phone on. the tilt went through the normal boot (but i didnt see the att animation). then it went to the phone setup/align screen stuff, this is when i relized im screwed. after that i reset (to avoid the reinstall of the att software).
so the over all damage done is, my registry seems to have been competely erased. all my settings are lost, but as far as i can see all my files are there.
has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone have an idea what caused this? the only thing i could remember that is a cause of worry is that my main phone memory was down to about 2.3mb.
if its possible to get registry back please help, but really the only thing i want to know is how to prevent this after i hard reset and start to rebuild
:-(
are you using a fancy rom or a boring one?

Boring normal ATT rom, i have just seen to many problems with others....
maybe try the new updated one?
saying this probably doesn't help u much, but i had the same thing happen to me too, except i didn't turn it off or anything special. I just rebooted and lost the registry like you did. I don't think its your free memory though, i had over 40mb free when it happened to mine.
Nothing you can do except backup nightly so you can be prepared for next time.
If you're using the AT&T ROMs, Sprite Backup is installed by default.
Hope this helps!

Buy a MicroSD Card, they are relatively cheap, you can tell the backup program to only keep a certian number of back-ups (I keep 5). It also comes in handy if you want to try a new Rom.
You can also auto reset the device after the back-up it helps with stability.
hello all, was just wondering if anyone could help me here, iv turned on my phone this morning to find it comes to a serial screen, and im not even able to put any serial in? iv not flashed it with a new rom or anything like that, never even touched the software side, no modifications have been made, so i honestly have no idea how this happened?
i was thinking maybe i should download the original rom for the phone and just re-install that? but im with orange and have been unable to find the original rom, so any help would be much appreciated,
many thanks
Dan
Have you downloaded ANYTHING to the pda at all? Sim/cid unlocker? Files from PC perhaps? If you havent I would try Hard Reset first.
nope nothing at all =/ iv tried a hard reset bu it wont leave the serial sceen =/ it some times flashes "no image file" aswell if thats any help?
Dan
What procedure are you going through for hard reset?
i was using the - hold down the two soft keys and then use the styles to press the reset buttom, remove the stylus, keepin the keys depressed and waitin 4 instructions.
iv just turned the phone on now after it bein off for an hour, and it works again? =S
Great news. I was going to suggest you remove the battery, then do hard reset but there ya go!
ah, that could have been wot fixed it then, because i left the battery removed =) anyway, many thanks mate =)

Hi all,
I saved loads of information on my tytn II during the summer. Very important files (notes most often). I was stupid enough to let WM6 store this on the main folder instead of the micro SD card.
Earlier this evening, I tried to use the camera and the phone froze (classical...) so I pressed "reset". Except it never really restarted! I could just reach the WM6 picture on the screen and it would stay there for ages... until a white screen with black text made it clear that a program was running while i'd pressed reset (i really doubt it, i hadn't launched anything), and that i'll have to press reset to recover the initial configuration of the phone (OUCH). I pressed reset just once (too scared to do a hard reset, im not crazy enough yet) but it still does the same thing, gets locked on the WM6 screen but never shows the damned white screen with the terrible message.
Is there any (even very expensive) way to retrieve the data? I hope it's not lost... I don't give a damn if the phone is a brick, i just want the data!
Thanks for your help guys, im a newbie and im really starting to hate WM6.
hi again...
I used bootloader thinking it could save my files with it (i don't think so!) and now it gets stuck at the "smart mobility" screen with the red serial numbers... it doesn't even reach the windows mobile screen (used to get stuck there before I used bootloader).
Please help
do you guys think i'll lose my data if I flash it (meaning i reinstall windows with a new ROM with bootloader?).
I've never flashed the device... Haven't used any ROM either, simply because i don't know how to do that.
thank you
I called HTC and they told me that reflashing would make me lose all my data... What can I do? Please help, no one has bothered to answer...

If you have an SD inside when trying to boot, take it out and try again.
Sometimes a faulty SD can prevent startup.
Hello all,
I have a Xiaomi Mi Mix (256gb) and I haven't changed anything since it came out of the box in March.
This morning, after working fine in the car, the screen stopped working. There are several grey lines at the top of the screen and the notification area is flickering, and I now can’t even unlock the screen. Nothing else will work. I’ve turned it off and on and rebooted multiple times, but this hasn’t done anything. It has never been dropped or thrown about.
Any ideas? I’d like to avoid doing a factory reset, but I’m sure that’ll be my next step (although I’ve no idea how I’ll do that!). I’m a complete novice when it comes to doing anything complicated with phones, so I’m in dire need of help. I’m not desperate to send it back to China!
I really hope someone can help…..
Graeme
Seems like hardware problem.
But to check if its a software problem you have no other choice than factory reset.
Thanks. I suspect it is too, but hopefully a factory reset will help.
I tried to follow these instructions at Hardreset .info - but rather than the recovery screen I just get a screen telling me to plug the USB in and to go to pcsuite.mi.com. Fine for backing up, but not resetting! Any suggestions?

Was wondering how you would do that with no touch screen. Tried mi flash tool? Or fastboot? Not sure how far I would go if having to return to vendor. Is it possible the cable wasn't connected properly from new and just totally came off. If you're brave could take battery cover off and take a peek. Don't know what the answer is unfortunately.
