I have this bad problem ever since I am the user of WM5 with Dopod 838pro. I install PCMKeyboard and Blimkeys to enable one-handed application for writing short message and some small write-up.
Most of the time, when I select PCMKeyboard or Blimkeys, it just does not appear. Instead the idiot Microsoft default keyboard that will appear. Only when I am very lucky those keyboard will appear.
This is really annoying me
Anybody knows how to solve this?
Have you installed the keyboards on SD card? The SD card doesnt get power immediately on device wake-up and the keyboard stuff may not load properly. Also, the default keyboard is switched everytime after a soft-reset unless youve changed it with other applications once.
Regards,
Carty..
everytime you reset/restart the phone it reverts back to the default MS keyboard. you would need to manually set the SIP back to the custom board you want.

No, all the keyboards were installed in the device. not in SD card. by the way, I also have another Arabic keyboard also installed. Is it the culprit?

Previously, I did that by using SIPChange and I ended up not able to boot my device...
I dare not try for second time..
do you have QuickMenu installed in your device? useful program that gives a windows pc style start menu. anyways, if you do it comes with it's own SIP changer, simply changes to each board type doesnt mess anything else up.

Is anyone having the problem where they pick another input type (i.e. PCM Keyboard, TouchPal) and it defaults back to the WM Keyboard? I like to use a soft keyboard for "one-handed" use sometimes. Anyone know of a workaround or fix?
Do a search for SIP changer.cab It allows you to set your default keyboard and it will restore it after a soft reset.

I downloaded the SIPChange program and it didn't seem to help. When I reboot, it still comes up with the MS Keyboard. When I select another input method like PCM Keyboard or TouchPal, it goes back to keyboard. Any ideas? This is getting extremely frustrating.
I found with sip changer, you need to run it and make the selection there and confirm it with the button in the middle of the screen, not the OK button in the top right.
If that doesn't help, I'm at a loss as it works fine for me.
If I understand the OP correctly, it isn't simply an issue of what defaults, it's an issue of being able to select the 3rd party keyboard, period. I have the same problem with ToughPal... I install touchpal, it works for a while, then after a while it can't be selected. It's in the pop-up list to select, but selecting it results in the standard keybard. I uninstalled, re-installed, and it worked for a while, and now it's back to not working.
SIP Change also addresses the issue of the 3rd party keyboards not showing up correctly. I'd tried PocketCM keyboard and it had failed, but SIP Change fixed that once I'd executed it correctly.

I tried a couple of things as well. One of them was to change the setting to 5 seconds first. That didn't work. Once I changed it back to 10 seconds, it worked fine on this reboot. Will post back here if I run into problems again. Also, I only tested it with PCM Keyboard and not TouchPal.
Hey Guys,
Few Keyboard questions:
1) How do you set PCM Keyboard as a default keyboard to pop up.
2) How do you disable PCM Keyboard from poping up when you have the Kaiser in the slid open position (actual keyboard exposed)?
Thanks
Dmitriy
1-Search for sipchanger.cab, it allows setting the default keyboard, even thru a soft reset.
2-don't know
#2- you have to turn ClearType off in landscape mode. You probably did a tweak that turned that on.
Save you the trouble of searching. I use PocketCM Keyboard too and when i start typing on the qwerty keyboard, PocketCM just hides away on it's own.

I do have it off. I use KaiserTweak and its off by Default
Am I logical when I feel that there is almost no need to install a whole program to set for example PocketCM as my default CM when just tapping PCM on the popup menu is enough, at least till the next restart.
Installing another program is just something I have to worry about that may need either updating, takes up memory, may get corrupt, adds weight.

Nope, your logic is sound. I weigh the size of the app's memory footprint and the benifit it provides. Sip Changer is tiny and seems invisible and does a great job of keeping the keyboard you want always correct even after a reset. So I merrily add these great little apps till I kill the phone, then start over But in reality I've got a first run TyTN II and have yet to need a hard reset and I have several "must have" apps running without issue.
It's a Pocket PC and as such is made to be tweaked and far as I know, this is a forum of tweakers for tweakers.
Hey there,
I'm having an issue with my TyTN II. It refuses to switch to 3rd party SIPs.
It would switch into the native SIPs just fine, I can use them and such, but I can't seem to use any 3rd party SIPs.
3rd party SIPs (CooTeck's TouchPal, PocketCM Keyboard) would install just fine, it's listed in the list of available SIP. However, it won't be loaded as a currently active SIP whenever it's chosen as active SIP. Instead, it would load up the Keyboard SIP.
I have yet to try it with Resco Keyboard Pro.
Have this issue as well, remember back in the day this behavior was due to memory issues....
The HTC SIP's work just fine however (Phonepad etc).....
I installed Developer One AccessPanel program which is a SIP (soft keyboard), then installed a FARSI soft keyboard, everything worked and I was able to switch between them, then installed another FARSI soft keyboard and that program prevented me from accessing the other two (same problem as yours). It all comes down to how well the soft keyboards are written. I can get it to work by removing the last soft keyboard.

I have about 50% free Memory. Without anything running (just active sync). I checked through the HTC TaskMan ver. 2 or something...

I use THIS FREE PROGRAM to solve that problem .. works well for CooTeck's keyboard and causes their keyboard to be the default even after a reset.
I have the same issue, it happens maybe twice a week. Usually a restart helps but it sucks because I need to wait at least 2 minutes before I can type in my preferred input method.
Why does this happen?
Thanks, that program did help me switch to a different keyboard, but it seems that I'd have to Reboot my device every time I want to switch into a different keyboard?
Again, the only problem only applies to 3rd party SIPs, switching onto the default SIPs would only take a fraction of a second.
Am I experiencing the problem described on that program's thread?
I guess what i'm trying to say is, I'm looking for a fix that will allow me to switch into different 3rd party SIPs with no delays/having to reboot, just as I could switch into the default SIPs.
I've installed PCM Keyboard and TouchPal. I've gotten each one to work at least once, but every other time selecting them brings up the standard Keyboard. This is very frustrating... I don't understand why 3rd party keyboards don't behave like the built-in SIPs.
I've been searching for a solution to this problem for hours. There are threads in many forums but none have real solutions. Has anyone here found a real fix yet?
Incidentally, I had the muns color keyboard on my Tilt and uninstalled it to try to eliminate any possible conflicts. However my standard keyboard is still colored. I doubt this is the cause of all the trouble just because so many other people have the same problem.
OK I think I figured some sh*t out...
I read in a few places that there may be a resource limitation at start-up preventing multiple SIPs from being loaded. It was supposed to have been fixed by WM5, so I had dismissed it as a possibility. HOWEVER, it's apparently still a problem in WM6.
Basically, the today screen plug-ins and your SIPs together compete for memory. I have PocketPlus running on my device as the only today screen plug-in, but that in turn loads a bunch of other plug-ins inside of it. I went into my today screen settings and disabled it from loading on start-up and did a soft reset. EVERY SIP WORKED! I then started the pocketplus today plugin and everything still worked... for a little while. After 10 minutes or so, TouchPal stopped working. I'm sure the problem will return whenever I reset as well, unless I disable my today screen plug-ins before every reset. GRR!
UPDATE: I used the Optimize settings for Enabled IM in SK tools, and disabled the ones I don't use. That seems to have had an affect. All my SIPS loaded after the past 2 out of 3 resets. This is almost definitely a resource problem, and not a conflict or a fault of any of the SIPs.

Yep, that is indeed the problem.
yep. Having that problem as well. I wanna unstall those built in sip that I don't use and wanna have 3rd party one as a default. I will have to try sluth's sip cab see if it helps me or not.

I did that already using SK Tools. I only have 3 SIPS now but they STILL don't all load on every reset. The only original SIP I kept was the keyboard because SK Tools does not let you delete the default, and when I try to change the default to a 3rd party SIP it warns me that it may lock-up my device. I read people have had to do a hard reset after attempting to change the default so I'm reluctant to try it.
It would be cool if there was a way to hack the allotted memory for SIPS and plug-ins. That's way over my head though.
some progress
I've made some progress on this front. I've got 3 third party SIPs installed and they seem to work all the time now. I did this by doing a hard reset on my AT&T Tilt and not letting it install the bloatware. (Never used any of it anyway.) I also disabled the SIPs I don't ever use with SK Tools. When I reinstalled my apps, I took care to install anything that runs during startup to the Device and everything else to the Storage Card. Finally, I tried giving my today screen plugins a low priority load order (also with SK Tools, but not sure if this had any effect).
I'm not sure which part of all that did the job, but I suspect it was just cleaning up the device which made it run faster and smoother, thereby eliminating the memory shortage and allowing the SIPs to load.
Good luck to everyone else experiencing this annoyance.
well, the fact you had to hard-reset it isn't cool. I might do that too, though.
I hate to be posting so much, but I know a lot of people have this issue so I'm going to continue to report my progress.
After installing a few more apps including Voice Command and a couple today screen plugins, one or more of my SIPs randomly wouldn't start again. GRR!
I discovered that if I remove the non-essential links from the windows startup folder, there was enough memory for the SIPs to all work again after a soft reset. I deleted sddaemon (smart dialer / voice dialer) because I have no need for it since voice command replaces it. That saved some RAM, but the biggest memory hog, Microsoft Voice Command itself, was still there. Moving that out of the startup folder is the key. It's not necessary at startup because it's mapped to a hardware button anyway, so you just have to hit the button twice the first time you use it. No big deal. I'd rather have working SIPs.
There's a small catch. Removing the shortcut in the windows startup folder is not enough because Voice Command reinstalls a shortcut to itself if you remove it. To get around this, you can hack the executable with a hex editor so it won't do this anymore, or more simply, change the shortcut to point to a different executable and then make it read-only so it won't be overwritten. I changed mine to point to spb services, which was a different shortcut in my startup folder anyway. As long as it's named Voice Command.lnk and it is read only, Voice Command can't sneak back in there.
Now all the SIPs work again even with all my new apps installed. Woo hoo!
After a pretty nasty crash recently (screen turned to interference then total power off), I restored from my SPB backup (thank goodness for that software!)
Since then, the Dutty and HTC touch keyboard + default keyboard haven't worked right, and even re-installing the cab's seems to cause it not to be sorted.
Moreso, if I try and reboot after trying to re-install then the device locks up and never gets to the windows mobile boot screen, so I assume something is getting corrupted somewhere and causing windows not to boot.
So, can anyone please advise how to manually (since the uninstall/remove programs doesn't work in this case) remove the applications:
'duttythroy Default TouchKeyboard.cab'
'HTC Touch Keyboard + Keypad.cab'
Or advise how to extract the cabs and figure this problem out!
A bit of extra info, if it 'thinks' the keyboard/keypad is installed, I can see it in the list of keyboards available to me, but if I pick it, I get the default keyboard and the menu jumps back (I'm guessing it realised the touch keyboard/keypad wasn't working so defaulted back).
Thanks for any advise!

To me, it sounds like your backup is the problem. Hard-reset and use the keyboards without restoring your files first. If they work then some application/file in your backup is causing the problem.
Hi Guys,
i have just installed this CAB: BJK_HTC_EzInput2_WVGA_NoKbd_0409-B1_4.cab
But i would just prefere the "old" Touch HD Keyboard/Keyad etc.
How can i get them back? Because as far as i have seen BJK_HTC_EzInput2_WVGA_NoKbd_0409-B1_4.cab replaces them :-(
Is there any CAB out there (already searched but found nothing) or can anyone send me the files for the old Keyboards (Keypad, conpact Qwertz, complete Qwertz)
Thanks a lot,
BigD
Does uninstall and soft reset not bring the old keyboard back?

Hard reset will restore device to factory settings. i.e. it will be as if you just flashed a rom, everything will have been lost/reset i.e. all software, apps, contacts, emails, everything on device will have been lost except what was on SD card. You will need to set up your device again.
To perform a hard reset:
Turn off device
Hold down volume up & volume down and press power on
Continue to hold volume up & volume down until you are presented with white screen and text.
Follow text intructions and press vol up to reset to factory settings
EDIT
Are you just trying to set original keyboard as default after you uninstalled a keyboard?
If so try going to Start > Settings > Personal > Input and select keyboard
Alternatively install SIP Change and then open it and select keyboard to be used as default
thankyou very much!
so if i copy all my devices contacts etc over to the card with the cabs etc. and reload them onto the phone after the hard reset there will be minimal change i.e. i dont have to fish around for all my contacts again lol.
thanks again in advance
edit: the only reason i want the old one back is that finger keyboard 2.1 has messed it all up. im running windows 6.1 the standard rom. no keyboard will open when browsing web and the keyboard doesnt even open all the time on messages.
again many thanks
sorry again i am a noob...
how do i copy contacts to my card memory, there isnt enough space on the sim card for even half of them and i cant find them in file explorer is there something im missing? its probably an onvious one aswell.
sorry.
cheers

When in email, sms etc and keyboard pops up, have you tried selecting up arrow beside the wee keyboard symbol at bottom and selecting different keyboard?
To backup contacts you have a few options. You can either sync contacts with your pc Outlook or use free backup apps like PIM Backup & Sashimi or 3rd party apps like SPB Backup, Sprite Backup & Resco Backup
yes ive tried the switcing input method onto "keyboard" infact ive tried them all to no avail still either this dodgy little crappy keyboard or one of the other input devices, im going to hard reset i think its best. thanks very much ill use the active sinc for it.
you have been a great help tyvm
update a hard reset has sorted this problem i will do more research before installing keyboards in the future many thanks
