I found a file MPFullEurope.gpi
I want to put it into the kaiser I got the mobile xt
Someone can help me haw to do that?
Thanks!
Elgoya
I guess it is a POI file for your country. I am in south africa and found that a file with gpi extention in poi's (points of interest) Im using Mobile XT version 40w from garmin. The older versions placed the POI files in the Garmin folder under the storage card. However the new version places my POI folder in the root of the storage card. You will need to find out with version you have and then rename the file to POI.GPI and place it in a folder called POI. Older version the POI folder in the Garmin folder and for the newer versio place it in the root of your installation media (device or storage card). Hope this helps...... It worked for me.

Hello,
Have installed TomTom 5.1 but the program does not find the maps located on my SD-card. Is there a setting somewhere to tell TomTom where to find the maps??
Finicky program.
from my blog, http://www.beyondthetech.com/blogs/kjam/2005/10/surefire-method-of-installing-tomtom.html
...
On your desktop, launch Notepad.
Type & \Storage Card\New-England_and_Mid-Atlantic-Map\ or whatever the name of your main map folder is on your mini-SD card. Do not forget to add the final backslash and a have a space between the ampersand and the first backslash.
Save the file as CurrentMap.dat. Make sure it doesn't end up as CurrentMap.dat.txt!
Create a folder on your K-JAM called \My Documents\TomTom.
Copy your newly created CurrentMap.dat file from your desktop into \My Documents\TomTom on your K-JAM.
...
Wierd...dosent work.
Have created the CurrentMap.dat -file and made sure that it does not have the .txt extension.
Have created the Folder /My Documents/TomTom and put the file there
As I have a Swedish version of OS I also created the Swedish version on that map...also tried to copy the file to the /program/Navigator folder where the exe file is located.
Have done a complete reboot but the program stil don't find the maps...
Also made sure the Path and spelling was correkt "& \Storage Card\Scandinavian-Maps\"
Is not Scandinavian.Maps but *.Map. Also you not have to create a folder My documents because this folfer already exists in PDA storage. Is a system folder.
Yeah, infact it says "& \Storage Card \Scandinavia-Map\" witch I have verified on the storage card to be the correct folder name.
And you are right..I did not created the acctual My Documents folder but the TomTom folder was created.
Have looked at a friends CurrentMap.dat file (where TomTom works) but there seem to also be some other data that the TomTom software probably creates...my guess would be it's binary data. Have tried to copy my friends file to my K-Jam but stil no success.
Same problem here, tried all options I can come up with, and as soon as I revert back to tomtom 5 the map is found again.
Which lead me to believe that the "currentmap.dat" file at least is correct, or have they changed somtething with it in v 5.1 ?
fahlis: The update doesn't change anything in \my documents\tomtom folder.
Sedvese: my curentMap file is as follows: \SD Card\Iberia_Plus-Map\
If you want I can sen you the file, you open it with notepad and replace Iberia_Plus-Map by Scandinavia-Map. Who knows it can fix your problem.
Hello,
There have been several people asking how TomTom (provided in HTC support site) can be installed into SD card storage instead of phone memory.
If anybody have succeeded to do that please post your answer into this thread. I am also working to find out if this can be done. If there is already a solution, please share your knowledge!
Or at least the voices directory?
This is what I've done:
Install Tom Tom via Active sync in P3600 memory
With file explorer move the directory Navigator (located under Programs directory of your device) to the Programs directory in SD Card
Tap and hold on TomTom Navigator.exe (under SD Card\Programs\Navigators) and select copy
Go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and paste the link to TomTom (tap and hold)
Now You have two links to TomTom: remove the old one
Start TomTom from Programs Menu, wait for fix et voilĂ .....
Bye
Marco
Why would you even want this thing? It's a demo! It can only load on city map, nothing else in it as far as I can see?

Yes, Marco is right. I moved my Navigator directory to my miniSD card and saved over 5 meg of storage memory on my Trinity. TomTom works fine from my miniSD.

Using an a program like Total Commander you can unzip the files to the root of your SD card.
-or-
Unzip the files on your computer and move them to the root of your SD card.
and if the files are in the root of my SD card, will the program recognize them? a have seen some maps in .cab file which extract the maps in the SD ,in folder something like /Program Files/Athens/

When you start your the TomTom program up it will see the map. I have my maps in a folder by itself on the same level as my Program Files folder (i can see them at the same time when you are looking at it in File Explorer.
OK, but it dont give me to select the maps, just says "No maps found" and "Welcome you can download 1 free map of your choice and experience GPS Navigation", and this is all.
What version of tomtom are you useing?

I am using TomTom7 it is version 7.45. Do you know if you have the file ttnavigator.bif in the root of your SD card?
where is this file 'ttnavigator.bif' , i dont find it, is it in the map package or in Tomtom7 package ?

If you cannot find the ttnavigator.bif, check in the \program files\navigator directory either on the phone itself and also check for it on the SD card. If it is in one of those two spots you can copy and move it.
If you cannot find it, you can reinstall the TomTom7 software.
Guys i need to know how i can backup the locations i saved in my X1?
use garmin map source
Can you be a little more specific. What do you mean garmin map source i dont find that option anywhere.
Sandy,
Go to Garmin folder in your device root directory. Locate *.NVM. your way point is save on file GARMIN_WPT.NVM.
copy this file in your SD Card for backup. Just simply patch it back to original directory after reinstall your Garmin XT, you will have your location restored.

Hi all,
I had TomTom UK and Ireland working on my HTC one and before upgrading to 4.2.2 i took a copy of everything on my phone so i knew where to put the folders after the update, eg ringtones etc...
Since the update and moving the TomTom folder back TomTom doesn't pick up the maps, i have tried it in the TomTom folder on the root, putting the com.tomtom.ukireland folder on the root and i have tried putting both of these folders under android>data and the app doesn't see the maps.
Any ideas where this folder should live now?

Still doesn't work for me with my HTC One Mini (Android 4.2.2).
The only difference is that I'm using Mac OS X, so I'm unable to navigate to .metadata.xml. Instead I check it before I upload it to the device (and there's exactly sdcard). After first launch I reupload .metadata.xml, which again contains correct sdcard name. Still does not work.
What am I doing wrong?

Same issue for me, but I'm on PC. It's outrageous that TomTom has taken this long to fix the problem. It's not like they're an inexpensive application. It's really pissing me off that I spent $40 on the USA version and was only able to use it for six months before we HTC One users get hosed by an OTA update that breaks our software.
