Guys i need to know how i can backup the locations i saved in my X1?
use garmin map source
Can you be a little more specific. What do you mean garmin map source i dont find that option anywhere.
Sandy,
Go to Garmin folder in your device root directory. Locate *.NVM. your way point is save on file GARMIN_WPT.NVM.
copy this file in your SD Card for backup. Just simply patch it back to original directory after reinstall your Garmin XT, you will have your location restored.

I'm looking for any tips for backing up my 8125 prior to upgrading on Monday. I of course am not to worried about my contacts and dates as those are in OL.
Is there any programs available to help with this? Or do I just load everything over one by one?
Thanks
David
Probably the best is sprite backup www.spritesoftware.com because it has a facility to backup and restore when doing a rom upgrade.
Next there is spb backup that does not have above feature but you can do a partial backup with custom options.
Or do a manual backup
Create backup of windows\start menu - most programs that are on the storage card dont need a reinstall.
Create copy of pim.vol in the root directory of the device - contains contact and appt information. After flash change the new pim.vol to pim.vo and copy and paste old pim.vol (use total commander or gsfinder file explorers for this) and soft reset and you will have info back.
Create backup of windows\favorites - for all your internet favorites.
You can backup your voice tag database between hard resets by copying the file CommandModel1.bin found under the windows folder to your pc or to the memory card. After rom upgrade copy it back to your windows folder and all your voice tags are back!
That will make restore a bit quicker than otherwise.
Back-up your data but backup your software is a waste if you are upgrading the OS Rom.
What I do is have most of my programs installed on SD Card. I use iLauncher so I have created a folder on my storage card "\Program Files\Shortcuts" and use sub-folders for each tab in iLauncher to store my shortcuts.
I export my config settings from iLauncher & PocketBreeze, saving them to my storage card.
Using spb back-up I will back-up PIM Data.
Now after Rom Flash I just have to install the few device installed programs (InClose, PocketBreeze, iLauncher, SmartsKeys, MS Voice Command).
I then import the previously saved config files for PocketBreeze and iLauncher.
Finally, I install cab files with my registry settings for previously installed programs and registry hacks.
Bingo, less work same great functionality...
I found a file MPFullEurope.gpi
I want to put it into the kaiser I got the mobile xt
Someone can help me haw to do that?
Thanks!

I guess it is a POI file for your country. I am in south africa and found that a file with gpi extention in poi's (points of interest) Im using Mobile XT version 40w from garmin. The older versions placed the POI files in the Garmin folder under the storage card. However the new version places my POI folder in the root of the storage card. You will need to find out with version you have and then rename the file to POI.GPI and place it in a folder called POI. Older version the POI folder in the Garmin folder and for the newer versio place it in the root of your installation media (device or storage card). Hope this helps...... It worked for me.
Hi there.
I have a folder 2577 containing 2 files autorun.exe and autorun.nnp
also i have igo dir where maps and other data is located.
When trying to run autorun.exe it says a newer version of program is installed on the card. What are directories where such files could be?
Maybe there is some short tutorial on how to install igo navigator?
phone tytn II
Thanks for suggestions
I think IGo will install on the device per default (\Program Files\iGO8\). The data is still located on your sd-card. Or look in the registry HKLM\Software\iGO8\. If there is an entry, try to delete it.
yes, thanks.
but know is another problem: it cannot locate languages files...
maybe someone could provide a tree how files should be stored
know i have program files/igo8/content/lang/ and here are my files but when starting i get initialiazation eror no language files were found
heh finally after formating micro card it works.
however in igo it says that gps receiver is connected but no signal is shown.
Has anybody idea why it could be so?
Another issue i don't know why, but every time i get in external gps->gps hardware port and change it as i need it gets lost.
as if i would set that data... maybe someone had such problem?
I want to transfer contacts and other pim data from my old Imate Jam to htc touch viva. How?
Thanks in advance.
solution
Use PIM backup on your first device..backup all the files that you want (ex. contact) and save them in a directory that you want...after connect your PDA on the PC and transfer this file (that you can find in the folder choose in the program). finally you must install on the new device (the OPAL) this fantastic app, copy the backup's file in a folder that you want in the new PDA and with the same application, RESTORE.!

Using an a program like Total Commander you can unzip the files to the root of your SD card.
-or-
Unzip the files on your computer and move them to the root of your SD card.
and if the files are in the root of my SD card, will the program recognize them? a have seen some maps in .cab file which extract the maps in the SD ,in folder something like /Program Files/Athens/

When you start your the TomTom program up it will see the map. I have my maps in a folder by itself on the same level as my Program Files folder (i can see them at the same time when you are looking at it in File Explorer.
OK, but it dont give me to select the maps, just says "No maps found" and "Welcome you can download 1 free map of your choice and experience GPS Navigation", and this is all.
What version of tomtom are you useing?

I am using TomTom7 it is version 7.45. Do you know if you have the file ttnavigator.bif in the root of your SD card?
where is this file 'ttnavigator.bif' , i dont find it, is it in the map package or in Tomtom7 package ?

If you cannot find the ttnavigator.bif, check in the \program files\navigator directory either on the phone itself and also check for it on the SD card. If it is in one of those two spots you can copy and move it.
If you cannot find it, you can reinstall the TomTom7 software.
