Hallo all,
I finally received my S730 unbranded today. On first start up it recognized my Sim and Provider and automaticlly configured my internet settings. After playing some hours arount (with GPS, WIFI etc) I hardreseted my phone.
Now the config tool does not appear. Has anyone an idea? Can I re-run that tool?
The config tool appears when you insert a new SIM card. So if you can borrow someone else's SIM (may be better if the providers are different but it may also not matter), put that in the phone, have the phone config itself and then re-insert your own, I'd say the config tool should appear.

Okey so ive had my diamond for 3 weeks and have had this issue. The device worked fine for 2 weeks except for this problem that it keeps dropping the connection and just says "no service" but when i disable and re-enable the phone radio i get full signal. However one time the device froze and i had to soft reset. After which it said the "sim card is missing, you can make emergency calls if your service provider supports it" when the sim card was in the phone. I tried resets and cleaning the sim all to no avail. So after not being able to find anyone else with this problem i figured it must be my old 2g sim that had been causing the problems so i went and purchased a new 3g sim from my service provider (mobilezone [switzerland]) and inserted it into the device. Everything starts working again and i figure the problem is fixed. However the phone continues to drop the signal again and again over the next few days and finally kills the sim card again, and displays the same "sim missing..." error. So i have now taken it back to the retailer and they say there seems to be no issue with the device as the technichen inserts a new sim and everything works fine. The thing is that the sim cards are completely broken. They no longer work in any device!!! But it took 2 weeks the first time and 3 days the second, so the technicians agreed to test the device for a couple days, im just sure its gna work fine for that amount of time but screw up again after when i use it again. Can anyone provide any insight into this? I speculate that its perhaps an issue with my service provider since they do not have their own network but use orange (switzerland) with their custom network settings, and when configuring the device the WM6 connection wizard only has 3 options and my provider is not listed, so i use the orange config settings, which i thought may be slightly different and cause problems. Ideas?!?!?
Thanks in advance.
Sam

If it helps, I had to have a new sim to use it in my new phone (not the diamond, a nokia) because it didn't work properly, as it was a relatively old sim.
Hi did you ever get your sim problem sorted, have been experiencing same,
except my sim still work on other phones?
Dear all,
I did a search on this forum, but couldn't find any topic related to my problem, so here is a new thread.
I have a problem with phone function in my Sprint CDMA HTC Diamond several random programs installed. The phone now pops up a window with keypad saying "Unknown SIM Status, Only emergency calls can be made without a PIN" before TouchFLO starts on boot up. It looks like a SIM PIN unlock screen, and I can click clear to cancel this window and I can still make phone calls, but this window will pop up again and disallow further actions whenever I go to Phone->Option, or send a text message.
My phone is a Sprint CDMA phone, and doesn't even come with a SIM card. I guess I might have installed a program from GSM phones incompatible with Sprint CDMA, but I couldn't tell which program, and I don't see all programs in remove program list. Is there any way to get around it? Or I will have to flash my ROM back to stock ROM?
btw, my diamond worked fine before I start installing random programs.
Many thanks,
szubilly
Have just got an xda off ebay - like everbody does from the sound of it.
appears unlocked, and can surf the internet via my wireless at home. only problem is put my vodafone sim in and says cannot connect to network. There's an exclamation next to the signal icon. Does this mean i cannot connect at all?
Have trawled the forums for answers but geting confused by all the jargon. Can anybody post the network settings or cab files for payg vodafone. all the current links i have clicked on just appear as a .gif, not a downloadable file
Getting fed up now as apart from the phone part i love my new toy
It's sounding as though it is not actually unlocked. The fact you can surf via WiFi has nothing to do with the SIM, my Alpine works just fine without a SIM in for that purpose.
Try the unlocking tool here on XDA-Dev to redo the removal of the carrier lock. I seem to recall having more success with the earlier version.
working or not?
the programme says it is unlocked, but exclamation still comes up - i guess i have to put in all the gprs and wap ect settings for it to connect properly?
samsung27
yes thats normaly how one get gprs to work unless the correct setting are preset
cab file correct?
have just downloaded the cab file for vodafone settings - but it just seems to contain one xml file?
looks like registry settings but no change to phone.
have tried to hard reset - power and reset at bottom but always get the o2 splash screen and radio settings never the personal or corporate file bit where you put in the serial no. am i doing the all wrong???
the unlock screen came and said that it was unlocked but still no joy as to using it as a proper phone
Here's a CAB for the Vodafone UK GPRS settings, i am on the monthly SIM onky contract so they may not work if you are PAYG.
finally got my alpine working - stuck in a new sim and topped up. installed spb phone suite and keboard as could not get wisbat to work with 2003 version of os. just need to get some latest themes and apps to get sorted. thanks for everybodies help
samsung27
changed providers again
yes it did work with vodafone for about 2 days then battery went flat. charged it up - no setings will not work.
stuck an new o2 sim in it and signal works registered etc. will wait to see if it does it again. other wise will just use it as an app and music pda
If you drained the battery completly , you will alweys lose all the settings.
You must charge it before it is completly drained.
Hi all,
I'm new to windows-base phone, there are two problems that I have with my TD2, and I don't seem to find the answers on the forum.
For some reasons, my TD2 has no problem of updating weather, but it cannot go online at all. I don't how to fix it. Recently, it pops up two windows constantly,
One says " Cannot Connect. Dialed: The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings."
Second one says: "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network."
I bought my phone in Hong Kong, and I just installed Hard-SPL to change the language back to English. Ever since I installed it, the phone keeps popping up those two windows. I have tried to re-installed it, it worked until yesterday. I also tried factory reset, it is still not working. I really don't what the problems are and how to fix them.
HELP, PLZ!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Avril
Just a thought: borrow a SIM on a different network from a friend and replace your SIM with it, and the phone should offer to import the new network settings.
Then put your SIM back and the phone should re-import your network settings again. It's just a stab in the dark really...
The other thought (which affects users in the UK on t-mobile) the phone imports a "proxy server" setting from the SIM which is wrong. You have to delete this in Settings/Connections before you can go online with Opera.
I tried your thought #1, but it didn't work. I don't live in UK. I'm USA, and using AT&T. Are there any other ways that I can do it?
Thanks,
Avril
Hi all. I hope someone can help me with my phone.
I have this phone and I have problems with it. The phone was bought from another person, not in a store.
It does not connect to the mobile network and cannot connect to the mobile internet.
It is fully operational, all functions work (except for the sim card), the phone connects to wifi and connects to the Internet. When connected to a computer, it is also completely determined.
You ask, "So what's the problem, take it to repair, they will replace the SIM card module and everything will be fine"
The problem is this. The SIM card is fully defined in the phone. When installing a sim card, a reboot is triggered, the operator is determined in the settings menu (I am from Russia, therefore my operator TELE2, the sim card was bought specifically in order to exclude the old generation of sim cards and also a possible simlock to my other operator), but when you click on the sim card menu, calls and SMS the buttons are grayed out with the caption "temporarily unavailable" (if necessary for understanding, I will change the language of the phone and provide all screenshots of the system) and they cannot be clicked.
Also, in the engineering menu, in the simlock button, opposite the Network subset inscription, there is the number 5 and it is marked with the letter X. This means, as far as I know, that there is a lock on a specific operator. But after a hard reset, the phone does not ask for any codes to enter.
This is my question, how can this be fixed?
Will flashing the phone to global rom help?
I gave the phone to a service center (not a Sony branded center, we don’t have one in our city), they told me that software setup was needed, but there was only a chance to restore the phone.
Maybe I need root access and find some file in my phone?
Please help me.
P.S. I don't have the best English, so sometimes I can't understand you, please don't get mad at me)
P.S.S. I created this topic in the questions section. I'm sorry if I had to go to the firmware section
