Hi. I was wondering if theres a way to get device info back into settings\system. Its not there. Im using Touch-it 1.0 with a couple cabs. but nothing that i think would remove device info. I tried searching for it but couldnt find it.
There was a bug in that version.
and if you're using Touch IT 1.0 ... then you should try upgrading to a newer version of it. The latest one is 4.4

I was trying to change my rom in Vista RC2 yesterday and could not get past the bootloader screen. it was late and I didnt get to mess around with it nemore.
has anybody had any success in this?
To the best of my knowledge, you need Active sync version 4.1 to make progress with ROM upgrade.
Are you able to sync using the new Windows Mobile Device Center? That is, can you do more than sync music like in RC1? If not you still might need to do the WHOS hack to get the device download.

You still need the hack.
I got it to work once by putting the device into bootloader mode first. But that was with RC1-5728. Did you give that a try?
Yes I did try and got frustrated. Read the wiki and found the info I posted above. For those interested, MS just released WMDC beta 3 today (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_Device_Center_x86/1160408330/1)
Please point to the "wiki". Is it on this forum or elsewhere. Thanks for the link to b3 of WMDC.
Sorry dude, this was some time ago. I read it up either in WIKI or on the forum. And I have always used Activesync 4.1. Tried others and WMDC without luck.
Guys, I've tried real hard to try and download the CAB file for the latest version of Slide to Unlock, but just can't seem to do it. One of the sites comes up with jiberish. And the other site says I must use a suitable browser (im using Safari).
Could someone kindly attach the CAB file to this thread for me and others having similar problems please
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339786
It's there. And I'm not sure if you realize it is now called S2U2 (Slide2Unlock2). The original S2U is dead as it had mem issues. The developer rebuilt it from the ground up. Maybe you know this already. Maybe you don't.
But anyways, I'd keep checking the "Development & Hacking" forum on XDA-Dev as new versions are posted there first.
Thanks Jomo. I checked out this thread earlier but was unable to download the CAB. But this time round it worked just fine.
Now to go and install it
Thanks again mate
Cool, no problem. Wasn't sure if you knew the latest version. Many aren't aware of it. And I'm glad you were able to get it. I hesitated to re-attach it as I don't want to put a version there that wouldn't get updated - just makes things more confusing...
Since i got the offical HTC 6.1 update when I install Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 my Tytn II freezes everytime i try to access the "settings" tab from the start menu. I've read the steps to install it on this forum already and followed the steps to the T and no luck. It used to work before the update perfectly and now it crashes everytime! any thoughts?
i'm blind!!! never mind I just read how to fix it...you guys rock on this site!!!...delete these posts!!
I'm also blind. Could you point me to where you found the fix? Thx.
The version you're using is likely not compatible. I know when I was running msvc as downloaded from dutty's cabs store, it did the same thing. I found a newer version in the 'all you ever wanted to know' MSVC thread, and it works great.

I've been googling and had no luck finding the solution for this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Just got on a plane and found out that the WM 6.1 update seems to have killed my HTC remote control for controlling Audio Manager or Windows Media.
It's one of these: http://www.negrielectronics.com/product_info.php?currency=USD&products_id=1067.
Anyone else run into this? Theres posts on installing the audio driver for other phones, but I don't find one for the Kaiser floating around out there.
There is an updated remote control driver for WM6.1. It can be donwloaded from HTC e-club.
Ah. For anyone that's also looking, it's not on the HTC US site. You have to hit the HTC Europe page and then it will show up.
Interesting. I grabbed the driver and ran the install and the app tells me I have the latest version installed. Won't overwrite or let me reinstall.
Anyone else having this issue? The control still isn't working and I can't tell what the cab files are looking to overwrite to force the install through.
Same issue after new HTC rom update
Any solution ?

Instal the WM 6.1 compatible driver from HTCs website off the bat or if the old version is installed first, hard reset and then install just the latest driver. Why anyone would want the current HTC official WM 6.1 'upgrade' (at least a WWE version) is an important question.
hi Flying Kiwi, I guess the main reason of the upgrade is bug fixing which I guess now is solving some adding others
I'm a new HTC user more used to symbian devices before.
The nokia updates are always good, so I thought it was the same for HTC.
I guess I was wrong.
I followed many times the installation procedure, but I always get the same result :
- Drivers already existing on the PC
- GetDeviceInfo.exe error on the Touch pro.
I guess the GetDeviceInfo error is the source of the pb. Maybe a pb with the ROM itself.
Thanks

Sorry I don't have one of these remote devices to test with - I just assumed (and we know what that results in) that from gauntman's post there was a WM 6.1 compatible driver but all I've been able to find is a very elderly cab (after renaming the file to have a zip extension) - gauntman please point us to a new version that does work if you know of it.
IF you have a stock ROM/Radio/SPL and the remote isn't working and installing the driver doesn't fix it or results in an error installation then my suggestion is to try the headphones that come with the remote and ensure they're fully plugged in. If that still doesn't work then it's time to contact HTC!
I tried this updated version found Here,
But the problem described is the one described.
Is there anyway to uninstall a driver without rebuilding the ROM ?
Sorry for the newbie question, but just an idea.
Maybe I should go for a stable cooked ROM and install the drivers on it.
But if not working i will cry lol

That's the one I was referring to, maybe gauntman knows of something newer.... In the meantime have you tried what I suggested ie restoring it to a stock HTC state and testing again with the headphones that came with the remote fully plugged in? If that doesn't work then it's fair and square a HTC issue to resolve.
Thanks I really appreciate your feedback.
Yes I actually did a hard reset.
The stock headphone is working fine.
So far the RC E100 has no sound problem, just the button issues.
I guess not a mini usb issue, but really a driver pb.
I contacted HTC about the last ROM and their accessory, let's see if the reputation of their technical support is as good as their product
Thanks
Michael
Hey guys,
just downloaded WM6.1 from HTC
however I found that the phone is very unresponsive at times, especially in regards to the keyboard.
There are no extra programs on the phone, so it should not be a ram issue.
any suggestions please?
I got the same issue when I flashed the OEM from HTC .. simple fix is the cancel the customization after the flash.
voila.
Also, if you've installed HardSPL in the past, make sure that you now flash the SPL version which corresponds to the ROM you are using now.
