Every time I start my TYTN II, I get a popup as follows:
===============================
Network Wizard
-------------------------------------------------------
Your current operator (31026) is not
supported. You should obtain an update from
your device vendor.
Would you like to select another network
provider?
-------------------------------------------------------
....YES.........................................MENU
===============================
I can, of course, simply ignore it and the phone appears to work just fine. However, if I choose "Yes," then I'm presented with a list of countries and providers to choose from...and there is no US, USA, North America, etc. in the list.
Now, I'm assuming this is some sort of software helper that automatically configures the network, internet, wap, mms, etc. in an effort to make things easier for the end user. So, in theory, if I've already entered all that information in the phone, then I shouldn't need this software, right?
Thanx.
I used to get that with the Dopod WM5 roms when I was using a UK O2 sim card - the Dopod was only configured for Asian markets. I guess you are using a rom from an area which doesn't support your sim card. Maybe try to dearch for the network configuration tool which supports your sim / carrier.
Yes. I purchased the phone in Hong Kong.
So, how do I eliminate this irritation?
Thanx.

Hi,
This Kaiser is unlocked. When I insert my current t-mobile (NL) and turn-on, start the phone, will the 3G/HSDPA be configured directly?
If not, could anyone point me how to configure the 3G/HSDPA? Especially if you know the setting for t-mobile NL.
Honestly, I never have 3G/HSDPA phone, I use only GPRS with the HTC Magician.
Thanks for any help.
It should be configured automatically whenever you put in a new sim card, I'm sure T-Mobile NL will be one of the many supported networks.
Worked perfectly with my Vodafone UK sim, so unless you're with some little used operator out in the middle of nowhere, I don't think you'll have any problem.
Yep. can confirm this. Recognised my (7 or 8 years) old belgian Proximus SIM and configured all settings correctly.
Network Wizard:"Your current operator (23433) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor.
Would you like to select another network provider?
When i turned on my dopod this message appeared. I am with Fido, and in Canada, Ontario, Toronto. Is there a way i can manually input settings so that my network wizard can adjust in order to work with fido/rogers? The only list of countries that i see in the network wizard is asian and other operators, no US or Canada.
Hi, first post, searched a little...need help
I bought a tilt in December from AT&T, an 8900 non camera. I'm in S. Korea and I cannot get service. I have international roam activated and AT&T has confirmed account settings are correct...Here's the deal:
1. Phone searches for a few minutes and the I get an exclamation point.
2. Goto phone settings and see "no service"
3. Change network settings from auto to manual.
4. Phone finds KTF and SK Telecom (the two providers here in S. Korea).
5. Tries to register and generally there is no feedback, but on occasion I have received the message "Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again."
6. Data is not connecting.
7. AT&T technical support (level two after the customer service rep) says the problem with the tilt is I cannot force it to use umts 2100. Then he came up with the idea that my SIM is from AT&T and that's the problem, I have to go get a local SIM from SK Telecom, but I was here in October with a Palm750 and an ATT Sim. Worked like a charm.
I'm stuck....could use any help at all!!!!
Thanks,
Steve

Are the carriers that you are referring to CDMA or GSM?
The local carriers are WCDMA/UMTS 2100 and I've downloaded the band tab dll from another post and confirmed that I am on the correct band...
I'm almost convinced it is an account problem. As of this morning my phone would continously come up with a "select" network screen (As there are 2 networks here). I select either and get the message "unable to register on the selected network, choose another or change data connection type"..
As I understand it, when I roam, my sim or phone # attempts to register across the local network to my home network and it needs authentication before I can have access...
what do you think?
bump....anyone with experience at all here?
In a simialar boat soon
I will be moving to Korea soon (Military) and I have an 8925 (unlocked) and I am wondering if I will be able to use my phone with either SK Telecom or KTF (both have GSM, I checked.)
If so, will I have to change anything in my phone? I'm using Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716 with the 1.65.14.06 Radio.
I bought the US version of the HTC Touch Diamond a couple of weeks ago. It works perfect in the US with 3G enabled on the ATT network.
However, I'm currently out of the country in Belgium and I can't get it to register onto the local GSM network. The phone finds multiple valid GSM networks.
I checked the GSM coverage maps and the networks are on the 900/1900 bands which this phone should be able to configure.
Here are the versions for my phone:
Radio 1.00.25.08
ROM 1.93.422.4 WWE
ROM date 08/13/2008
Protocol 52.33a.25.17W
Check with your service provider to see if roaming is permitted with your contract. They may be able to enable it for you if you ask them.
thanks, ill check with my service provider. under the bsnd tab i only see 850/190 gsm and 850/1900 umts. are the only radio bands nothe i can manually configure unless i flash to another radio nbh file
?
you do need to ask ATT to
"turn on" international roaming @5.99/mo. This is not automatic even if you have enrolled in the unlimited data plan in the US.
Choose AUTO on the band settings for the phone and ignore the two default numbers shown. More numbers can be added and shown on the list but AUTO will find most suitable(including all available in your locations) for you.
I have posted this plea elsewhere, but without getting any help ... pls forgive the cross-posting.
I've left my Canadian GSM carrier for lousy coverage, and my Xperia X1a is now with Telus HSPA. The phone works well, but I yet haven't figured out how to setup the X1a for HSPA data (leastwise, as it is now, if I try to 'QuickGPS' I get a connection failed message). If this cannot be remedied, I may as well not pay for data.
The phone also nags me because it believes the connection with the carrier is generally not setup properly. It's as if it has a list of Canadian GSM providers, and there are no other possibilities(?)
Please advise ...
TIA & cheerios from the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland
you would have to manually set up the data information as telus set up is so new no chefs have cooked that information into their ROMS.
Call telus and have them tell you the best settings to use.
They may also have to refresh your profile to allow you phone to be recognized properly as their settings used to be hardwired into a different set up then sim cards.

That may be the primary problem. That is, I haven't yet found a way manually set these parameters, and as a "unsupported device", the Telus person may not be Xperia-savvy any more than I.
However, if I read you reply correctly, I should be able to choose to manually configure the phone for Telus HSPA, voice & data(?) All that I've been able to find is an options list that shows all the Canadian carriers, and I'm supposed to choose one (which presumably automatically configures the phone for that carrier). I was hoping to see "other", the selection of which would take you to a dialog that would allow manual configuration(??)
you can manually do the connect setting by going to settings - connections - connections and then enter information desired.
Do not use the connection set up because that wull give a list of recognized providers from the xml files.
