I am trying to play around with the SIP client for WM6.
Everything works fine, except on outgoing calls
Until I can figure out how to modify my ipdialplan.xml to ignore () is there a way of disabling my Kaiser from using them when dialing?
Thanks!

The only way I have been able to remove the () combo from phone numbers is to edit the number in Outlook and synchronize. Also, even when I have () combo in a phone number, I have no problem dialing it.

Thanks, but it adds them in to non-outlook contacts as well...
Oposite problem here
I actually had to figure out how to add them I found that when my SIM numbers were imported they all came in from my previous phone as 1234567890, and I wanted (123) 456-7890. Try taking out the parentheses, space(s), and dash(es)?

Numbers in messages are normally underlined and when you quick tap them (not tap and hold )they are passed to the phone verification screen which asks if it is correct to dial (ie country and area code OK) and you just hit the green call button. This function is default on all WM devices.
Have you added some software that has changed this?

just tested it, works fine in email but not in calendar? damn thats total pants! What ever could the developers be thinking.
/sigh , I'm really trying to like this device and get used to it (i have 7 days) but so far there are little things like this which I use daily which will make my use of it so annoying.
Mike
I'd love to be able to tap on a number in my calendar notes to dial..
All my appointments and contact details are stored in the calendar yet I have to write the number down, exit calendar and go to the dialer.
I don't recall ever being able to do it with any version of WM.
I had problems with Active sync and resynced and wrote everything cfrom the computer to the PPC.
WHen I did it zapped my voicemail speed dial #.
How do I get it back
HELP
the only way I could in the past was HARD reset.
Try this
Just start the dialer, go to menu:speed dial. Go to menu:new. Create #1 voice dial from there?
The number T-Mobile gave me for voice mail is 123.
Thanks but Nope.
I already tried that.
#1 is not an option
Also aparently Voice mail is not backed up in the speed dials with PIM Backup

Think I found it in the registry. I'll assume you know all the caveats about editing the registry. Use a registry editor and go to:
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Vmail
PhoneNumber1 = 123 (or whatever AT&T uses for voicemail)
Hope that works for you.
Nope that is not the number
I ended up reflashing
But still would like to know where the speed dials are kept
Ok, I have sipdroid installed and it's working for outgoing calls. I have it linked to my GV account. Here is something strange though. I received a call on my Streak 7. But how? I mean what # did they dial? If you dial my GV # it rings on my cell phone so I'm trying to figure out how this call got routed to my streak 7 and what # they called to reach it.
How do you receive calls with sipdroid? What # does the person dial?
If you have the Streak number synced with your GV then when they dial that number (GV) then it will ring on any phone/device that is linked to it.

That's the thing.. My streak doesnt have a number. I'm not using a dataplan. Only wifi. My Google Voice account is actually linked to my cell phone # which is a mytouch 4g. When you call my gv # it doesn't ring on my streak, it rings on my mytouch4g. So I'm not really sure how I got this call

I remeber it is [email protected] ... which is odd, and I never tried if I can reach myself by "calling" that thing..
On your gv account you need to have it forward to your gtalk acct...
Guide
I keep seeing people saying they've set up their Streak 7 to make calls, (both incoming and outgoing) whether it be with Sipdroid or CSIPsimple. Thats great and all, but could somebody PLEASE help me out with a GUIDE that will EXPLAIN or SHOW how to do all of this. I think that's whats so frustrating for people. How do you do it??
follow the instructions on this link it will help you a lot. Fortunately I signed up to gizmo5 when the service was available. If you have any questions fell free to pm me.

go to your google voice settings, its in there, you have your GV forwarding to your cell.
I installed "Dialer One," "Google Voice," and "Sipdroid."
Dialer one is the default dialer which has the ability to add a shortcut to the homescreen....
Google voice is the number that I call from. Sometimes you see the "calling" GV feature thing crash, then Sipdroid takes over and makes the call...
I've run in circles with this thing as well. The reason I am telling you this is because I uninstalled all of the other apps and dialers, etc..
I DO have Google talk installed as well, but not sure if that affects anything. Sorry couldn't be more help right now.. It's a confusing cycle. Lol. Good luck.
(((( Outgoing calls show up as coming from my GV # )))
(((( Incoming calls only occur when someone calls my cell and they're forwarded to my tablet--- SOMEHOW-- WITHOUT forwarding setup. )))))

Hmmm... Let me see if I can help here.
1. You need to have a google voice account.
1.1 you google voice account setting: main forwarding: gchat has to be selected
1.2 do not choose call screening option (at least initially to get things work)
2. install Sipdroid on your device
2.1 click the "link with your google voice option on main page of sipdroid right after you installed it"
2.2 in Sipdroid setup, you will need to create an account with some provider like mine is pbxes.org
3. Have an account with pbxes.org (or maybe other service provider. but mine is with pbxes.org)
3.1 under extension: you should already have an sipdroid <200> (the extension number may be different , but this number MUST be the number in your sipdroid settings account field as "[email protected]" where 200 is the extension number
3.2 under inbound routing, you need to have a default routing which is "/"
click "/", you will see "sipdroid <200>" appear in various section, mainly "regular hours", "after hours", but there is one click which is "force regular hours", can help you simplify the setup initially to get things "work"
3.3 under outbound routing, you should see a "0 gtalk" routing trunk.
within the section, route name: gtalk
trunk sequence: 0 "GTALK/[email protected]"
4. In your sipdroid setting on your device, double check the username: [email protected]
password, your pbxes.org password.
Hope it can help in some way. Post your questions here and I will try to answer.
Cheers,
Thanks, got it now thanks to your excellent write-up. The order in which you do the above steps is of utmost importance.
My calls are still choppy using Sipdroid and Google Voice....its cool when I use a Wi-Fi connection, but over 4G all calls are choppy and full of static

did you really have to post this issue in every one of the of threads on sipdroid? I think once in your [Q] making calls over 4g is sufficient
hi,
I'm trying to solve two problems in my SGS working on 2.3.3 JVH, perhaps somebody can help me:
1. I want to add to my room integrated Android SIP client, but I can't find any which is working well. I tried this one from post 26 but it blocked my phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13401355&highlight=sip#post13401355
Does somebody have SIP client to this software version and can instruct how to install so that it can work properly ?
2. I would like to make video calls to person using Skype on his PC, but as Skype on Android doesn't support video calls can somebody advise me how to set connection or which application use to allow both sides see each other ?
thanks in advance
Google video chat works with gmail. You need a hack to make it work however.
For the integrated SIP client you need two things:
a permission file
(optional)modify framework-res.apk in order to be able to make SIP calls over cellular network
1st one is very easy, just take a look into this post:

Thanks for this advice.
I had done the same before but it didn't work.
Today I added the small file to permissions once again and it works
There is one more question now.
I thought, activating this function I would be able to call all the numbers from my contacts, but I see there is only possibility to call numbers which are specified in contacts at field "internet calls".
Is there any possibility to make SIP connection with other numbers which are saved in contacts or with numbers choosing from keyboard ? (e.g. others SIP applications like SIPdroid, CSipSimple have this functionality)

Yes, but I looking for something what allow me to make video calls with Skype.
By the way, Skype on iPhone has already this functionality :-(
Then ask Microsoft to release a real Skype for Android.
You can set the SIP caller to ask before making calls if you want to use your cell network or the internet.
Any idea wth happened to this one? i literary got a mate buying the same phone at the same place, with the feature on hand?

what settings exactly did you go for? a few guide that i've found didnt result in any success.
I found some SIP Settings with the app you recommended and managed to add my server (it's a local server), how exactly are the calls made? just dial the extension?

When placing a call it will ask you from where do you want to make the call. And just chose your SIP account.
Also receiving calls is working for me I am using voipdiscount.
I found the settings and configured an account of mine. But when placing a call it always go with one of the two sim cards and it doesn't ask which account it should use.
ALso, I cannot find where I should be able to enable incoming calls.
I set ALWAYS ASK as the way dual sim mode works, but it doesn't ask all the same.
Any hint?
Thank you.

I defined a sip account but when placing a call it doesn't ask me to use it so it seems useless as yet. Any hint? Maybe is there something else to set or configure?
Thank you.
on android 10, callingapp->settings->calling accounts->sip accounts its blank, but there is a barely visible + sign on top right. tap it and you can add a sip account.
to receive sip calls , in calling accounts, tab "make calls with" and select ask first.
also activate "receive incoming calls". (use more battery life)
