I tried to look if there is a fix on forums but with no sucess.
After a week of having at&t tilt once after using keyboard i slide it back but screen stays horizontal. anyone knows whats that all about?
Soft reset didnt work so far. i think it happend during wall charging when i started sending some messages.
So, after you reset, the phone boots in landscape? Or once you go landscape, you can't switch back? Either way, I think the kaiser uses a magnetic switch to sense the keyboard opening/closing. I don't have a definitive answer, but at least that's a starting point for some good ol' fashioned research.
yea, it doesnt want to go back from landscape. i thought wierd problem like this should be spotted before and i was hoping for a quick fix. phone is to new to have issues like this.
Swurv is right, the kaiser uses a magnetic switch to make the change between landscape and portrait. It sounds like the switch is sticking when you open it. I don't know of any way to fix it, you might have more luck returning it and getting another. Good luck.
It isn't going to actually fix the issue, but you should be able to get around it till you can swap the device : Start --> Settings --> System --> Screen and select the Portrait orientation
Best of luck getting a replacement, hope its smooth sailing.
Got curious about the magnetic switch and figured out where the magnet itself is located- If you have your screen open and tilted all the way forward, the magnet is on the back side of the screen, on the same corner where the front OK button and the messaging button are.

hi guys
I have Att tilt and since 3 days a go my phone keep turning on by it self. any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.
i'm defnitely sure u need to call in an exorcist. for the time being, pls place the phone within a ring of garlic cloves
It's probably the instant messenger receiving an SMS message with someone signing on/off or you getting a message.
if you are using a case with a magnet in it it will cause it to turn on like if you were sliding it open to fix this download kaiser tweaks and turn off the option to turn on when slide open or keep away from magnet cases

This is indeed the only thing i can imagine is happening. Strong radiowaves can turn on/off devices and even uses them..... Just to give a exemple, I work on a warship and we had a 250KW powercable with some leaks in the isolation. This causes some of the other equipment to power on and even use it while all safeties were still on!
thanks guys for your help. i will try to disable the sliding thing. i hope it works.

My brother wanted to give me his old Wizard holster which closes with a magnet. I told him the magnet might cause my screen to turn on. Sure enough, as soon as the phone got near the holster the screen came on and switched to landscape just as it would if I had flipped out the keyboard.
Guess that's why my Kaiser came with a holster that uses velcro.
This has been driving me nuts since I got my Tilt! The slightest sliding movement of my screen would wake the phone up.
Thanks for the easy fix with the Kaiser Tweak setting!
Hi guys,
I did the Kaiser Tweak setting but still same issue from before. every like 5 to 10 min my phone comes on by itself.
any other sugestions?
now im having the same problem. wtf is going on. no magnets near my phone. it sucks lol
I just got a 2nd hand htc tytn2 today and for some reason when I slide the keyboard out it does nothing. When on the basic today screen the screen doesnt even light up! Any ideas how to fix this guys? I even went as far as flashing a cooked rom to see if its software related but hasn't made a diff. PLEASE HELP as I love my new tytn2 but whats the use if the keyboard doesn't work!
Hopefully all it is is that the cable connecting the keyboard is loose -- you'd have to search these forums for some instructions on how to take it apart and check the cable.
EDIT: or perhaps more likely is that the magnetic sensor is broken.
Man this stinks. Was really looking foward to this tytn as well. Not looking foward to taking it apart and somehow finding a replacement sensor .
Oh, by the way, the keyboard works fine, the phone just doesnt react to the slide at all
OK -- if that's the case then the most likely culprit is the magnetic sensor.
Unfortunately, I seem to recall reading on these forums that it's not easy to change. There could be a missing magnet on one side -- if you take a magnet and wave it around the phone, see if you can get it to switch to landscape mode. If it does, then that's better news -- you just have to replace the magnet to get it to work.
If not, then the sensor is broken...
Can you send it back because it's not in complete working order?
Is there a way to force the phone to always be in landscape mode? I use my phone as GPS on my motorcycle (KLR650) and have it attached the the handlebars sideways. This works out great except whenever I turn or hit a bump the phone goes from landscape to portrait mode several times which lags out my GPS application and causes it to quit logging my route... This is especially when I am off-roading and NEED to keep track of my route in case I need to turn around and make my way back out.
Possible solutions might be:
-Tricking the phone into thinking it is open all the time...
-Editing the parameters on the accelerometers to think the phone is always on its side...
I don't know how to do either... I've looked for apps but I can't find any.

PM Loccy, the guy who does the better browser, and ask him if there is a way to lock the phone into landscape, because he has a setting for the browser to always be locked into landscape.
Something strange happened to me today.
The unit lost power, the screen went weird, then the unit shut off.
After charging it when I got home, I wasn't able to boot it; it wouldn't even go into recovery via home & end.
I saw something online where someone suggested trying to go into recovery mode with the keyboard open.
This worked & I wiped & reflashed the SuperBad rom.
What I've come to realize is that my display isn't working at all when the keyboard is slid under the display, or shut - so to speak.
Any ideas? Might there be a 'simple fix' to this that I don't know about?
Also ..
What happens when I close the unit is that a bunch of black lines appear across the display (looking at the unit in Portrait mode).
Looking at the unit in Landscape mode, the lines appear vertically across the screen & the homescreen appears to not rotate, but stays in Portrait mode.

Everyone that I have talked to has said it is a possibility that it is the ribbon cable for the keyboard. The replacement procedure for that is a bit complex (small parts involved) but it is possible to fix. And truth be told, I could also be totally wrong. But you had said that you re-flashed it and it continues the same problem. That sounds more like a hardware issue and less like a software issue.
Is there a way to change the default screen orientation? By that, I mean when you boot up and Moboot comes on, it always defaults to being readable with the speaker ports facing down. Similarly, in certain apps and times, it defaults that same way. Because of the HP case I have, the flap gets in the way and I'd much prefer to be able to have Moboot and the "default" screen orientation to be the other way around.

I don't think you can change the screen orientation at boot up because the way you wish to use it is upside down. However there is an app called Set Orientation that will do what you want after the Touchpad has booted.
I hope this helps.

Hmm, I appreciate the response... but sure if that app is gonna solve the issue. I know at minimum that Moboot is landscape with the speakers facing down. I want to flip that upside down (with the speakers facing up). I also noticed that in certain applications (one I used last night, but can't remember name off top of my head) opened up and immediately went to that same orientation with speakers facing down. Not til I turned my Touchpad did it flip the way I wanted it.
There definitely is a "default" landscape orientation that the Touchpad has, and was wondering if I could change that. I don't want to force the Touchpad to any one orientation, I like it able to rotate, but for things like Moboot and CWM.
