[Solution Found!] TyTN II Connection to Volkswagen - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General
Please read my post on page TWO for the solution...
Has any one actually succeeded in connecting their TyTN II (Kaiser) to a VW phone prep (Nokia HT-2)?
I have connected and the phone works perfect, except I can not get the phone book to transfer to the car. If I try to send it manually and send as a vCard I can read the card but not save it down. I have tried using Jetware but to no avail (unless I got the settings wrong!).
Anyone else suffering from the same thing or can shine a light on a resolution?
Mark.
are you talking hardwire or BT.
I have the BT module in my A3, no issues from day one..

I'm using BT - the phone itself works fine and it connects using rSAP perfect, except it will not download the phone book.
I would take the VW in, see if there is a software upgrade.
I have paired a Razr, 6700 (CDMA) Tytn and a Tytn II to my A3, and the phone book downloaded every one except the CDMA 6700

Have you enabled/ticked remote sim access in the bluetooth settings menu on the TYTN II?

I have contacted my local VW and they don't know of any software upgrade. They are going to ask VW but thinks we may get a negative answer back as the phone is not on their supported phone list.

Yes - As I said earlier the phone connects and works perfectly with the car - except for the phone book not being downloaded.

This may be a problem specifically to the HT-2, unless the Audi version is the same hardware. I don't have a VW, but do have an older Nokia rsap carkit (610) and that will work fine for sending / receiving calls and texts, but will not copy the text back to the phone. For contacts, it will read ones off the SIM, but refused to read the contacts from the main memory. As an experiment, try storing a couple of numbers on the SIM, then set the HT-2 to only download SIM contacts (if possible) and see if that works...least then you will know if it's all contacts, or only the main memory ones.
Thanks Steve
Already tried that - it will take contacts off the sim - all communication with the sim works just as it should - it just wont play ball with the phone book.
Maybe thats the only option available to you?have the SIM as full as possible with all the main numbers you are likely to call when in the car, then maybe hae a holder for the tytn say a brodit cradle on a dashmount so you can acces other contacts.

I've just got the Brodit holder ready to go in. (As the Car Phone takes over the use of the SIM from the TyTN, I will not be able to dial out with the TyTN - only look up the numbers so I would have to key them into the Car Phone).
The thing I don't like about using the SIM is it fills the TyTN phone book with really poor quality contacts (and I don't mean the people them selves ) but creates duplicates or even triplicates as the SIM only holds one number per name and some contacts have home, mobile and even work plus the original sync entry from my exchange server.
Its really annoying as it works perfect with my Nokia N95 and I got fed up with the symbian OS short comings trying to connect to MS exchange etc. - that's why I now have the TyTN.
One day we might be able to get it to work....!
the symbian OS has a mail for exchange client that should run on the N95 which you plug in all your exchange server details etc.

Thanks Tom. Yes it has and it does, but as with all things that use a 'middle ware' its not a seamless as the real thing. The way in which the HTC will communicate with my server is as near to perfect as its going to get and the ease of entering data and using the calender on the HTC is (in my opinion) much easier.
I upgraded from the N95 to the HTC to get what I thought was a better business phone and that I think is what I got - except for this damn phone book...!

Then I think you'll find that's the incompatibility of the Nokia carkit and Windows mobile. I tried my carkit with a Nokia 6230i and everything is seamless.
Personally I blame Nokia, since they are known to have taken the 'open' bluetooth standard and made it somewhat propriatary on their devices. For example a headset that just worked fine on a very old Ericsson (possibly one of the first bluetooth headsets, and phones), fine on both my HTC devices, refuses to work at all with a Nokia 6310, 6230 and only partially with a 6230i, as in it worked when it felt like and the wind was blowing in the right direction. I've found several bluetooth devices that do this. Look at the bright side though, at least it works for voice calls fine! My old HTC phone would pair up nicely, but unless you left it doing something (like playing music on silent) it would powerdown and disconnect after 20 mins, regardless of being in a call or not. It also required a soft reset after I turned the ignition off, but before the carkit disconected, otherwise the phone would know it was disconnected but refuse to reactive its own phone unless I went into comm manager, pressed the phone icon 3 times (waiting for it to try to power up each time), then soft reset, then switch the phone on again. It got old quickly...and no, the jetware software you can get didn't help.
try this
Make sure that your phone numbers have no symbols other than (, ), or -. Remove all other letters and symbols like p, x, extension, *, etc.
This worked to connect to my Parrot.
Sorted - The Answer...!
OK - not the perfect solution, but at least it works.
1. Pair the TyTN II to the car (Nokia HT-2) phone.
2. Switch car ignition OFF and switch off TyTN II.
3. Remove SIM from TyTN II.
4. Place SIM into a compatible phone (in my case Nokia N95).
5. Switch on N95, switch on Bluetooth, switch on Remote SIM access.
6. Change the Bluetooth ID name on the N95 to the same as the TyTN II.
7. Make phone discoverable via Bluetooth.
8. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
9. Using car controls search for new device.
10. When N95 is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as the TyTN II (if you selected the same name for the Bluetooth ID).
11. On the car browse to Settings - Phonebook - Update, this will then import all your contacts from your N95 (or compatible phone).
12. Switch off ignition and switch off N95.
13. Replace SIM back to TyTN II.
14. Ensure TyTN II Bluetooth is ON, Remote SIM is ON and the phone is Discoverable.
15. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
16. Using car controls search for new device.
17. When TyTN II is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as before.
18. Now browse the car Phonebook as normal - All your contacts are now available for you to use.
19. Don't forget to turn off discoverability on the TyTN II and to rename your compatible phone (N95) to prevent any future conflicts.
This worked for me! I hope it will work for you! Good Luck!

You'll have to add it in the same way using the compatible phone - a pain I know (especially if you have a high rate of turnover of friends etc!). But at least its better than using the TyTN as a telephone directory stuck in a Brodit holder!
The numbers are in the car phone and the TyTN is prepared to talk to it - best solution to date! If someone can better it, please do. I for one will be greatfull.

Can anyone tell me if the HT-2 phone preparation is called "Premium Bluetooth"?
I've read all the VW forums and no one can tell me if Vw's "Premium Bluetooth" module (5N0 035 730) is dual band 800/1900 or quad band 800/850/1800/1900.
I'd like to purchase one because I have an rSAP compatible phone but I live in the U.S. and we only have GSM850/1900 frequencies.
Also, does anyone know if the module downloads phonebook contacts in stored on the phone's memory (not the SIM)? In other words does it have Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)? Additionally, if it has PBAP, is it PBAP/PSE or PBAP/PCE?
One last question...does the "Basic Bluetooth" aka "Bluetooth Audio" (3C0 035 729) the kind everyone gets from Skoda support PBAP? If so which type of PBAP does it support - most new phones with PBAP only support PSE.
Any photos of the labels from both of these would be great. I especially need a close-up of the "Premium Bluetooth" unit I can't make out what is says under "NOKIA" - if it's a Nokia-specific code I could get some definitive answers from them.
Thanks!

Cingular 8125 Bluetooth and BMW UFL
Can someone please help, I Just purchase a Cingular 8125 PDA with: Rom v: 2.25.11.1 WWE Rom d: 5/11/06 Radio v: 02.25.11 Protocol v: 4.1.13.12 Extrom v: 2.25.11.102 My problem is that i loose Sync with my BMW bluetooth car, When i sync it to the car the first time everything is ok, I can see receive calls, Make calls, can see the contacts on the car screen.. But when i used it again, it looses the contacts from the screen and looses sync with ULF ( or ULF) .. Not certain what to do, i just install the jetware v. 1.20 and will try to get it to work and see if it does anything but if anyone has a problem like me and has a solution i would be greatfull for the help..
The BMW handsfree system (bluetooth) is not 100% compatible with the Wizard. The closest I got was just the ability to make and receive calls. To be honest, I'm surprised you got the contacts to download and appear on the iDrive system. Just make sure you have the system properly paired... in the car: Settings---Phone---Pair then from the phone discover your car and enter the pass key...normally it's a 4 digit code in the owners manual kit they give you.
Yeah i got the phone to star pair to the car, But yeah for some reason when i pair for the first time the contacts come up and stay and are viewable from car screen but next time i used it there gone and they won't show up unless if i delete the device and re pair to the car.. weird and it sucks cause its hard to dial from phone cause the bluetooth will not give you sound until the other party answer then it will give sound on the car..
why not use the keypad that's under the start button in the car? it slides out and you can dial from there... on a separate note i recently purchased a hw6945...it pairs with the car and also downloads the phonebook and it stays there too....pretty nice i must say.
Oh yeah its preaty nice to have the phonebook on the car screen.....Yeah using the phone dial button is ok.. and i do used them but the problems its that i have about 283 contacts on my phone book and to be honest i can't remember everyones numbers in order for me to call them, when there on the phone book just scrow from car stering wheel and i find them fast.. but its something that i would to live with until someone is able to fix that issue cause i know its not the BMW ULF on the car cause mostly all other models of phone work fine..
would you like to know a little secret? try this... see if you can get your hands on a Motorola V330...synchronize your contacts with the V330.....then pair up your V330 to the bimmer. Now once it has paired the V330 the ULF will download the contacts into the BMW's communications--->phone book area. Once download is complete just return the phone to who ever you borrowed it from (make sure you restore their settings and erase yours). Now continue to be on your merry way.... Alternatively you could actually purchase a V330 and consider it to be an adapter for your Wizard to synchronize your phone book with.
I have a v3 razer also which works fine, all contacts come up, but keep in mind that those contact will erase ones i used a diffrent phone.. they don't store on the Bimmer ULF memory, and even if they did they will not work with the cingular 8125.. I mean i can used the razer in the car and then used the cingular 8125 outside but sucks to switch sim car everything i do so.. There is no essie solution to this but deal with it...
TyTN II SAP
Hi, The new TyTN looks good but does anyone know if the SIM Access Profile works with the Mercedes Bluetooth module? The only thing that stopped me getting the original TyTN was that it didn't work in my car so it would be nice to know if it is fixed now. If not then I guess I will have to go for the Nokia E90 but I would like a touch screen. Thanks, Ady.
Mercedes bluetooth pairing Hi there, the TyTn II will not pair with the Mercedes SAP 'puck'. It is necessary to purchase the HFP puck from MB (this will fit to the plug inside the center arm-rest). The handset will now pair with the Comand unit, however to enable the contact list transfer it is necessary to purchase a small program from 'jetware.com'; when this is downloaded to the handset the complete contact list (including numbers on the sim card) will be seen on the cars display. Hope this helps.

I havent noticed a visible IRDA port on my device but I was able to beam a contact from one phone to another. It took some wierd positioning of the phone but it did work. Seemed like it worked from the left hand side of the phone. I didnt use bluetooth, unless the tilt automatically attempts using bluetooth withut saying if it doesnt have irda?

The Tilt/TyTN II/Kaiser does (I beleive) automatically enable BT to beam.
Hi, I know this is an old thread. Let me put what I found anyway. The 8925 Tilt does not have IR. However, on selecting the Beam under settings, engage recieve beams and you can send stuff to it with BlueTooth. I just fired up the old 8525 and sent over some of the contacts with the extended info (extra numbers, picture, ringtone) and the 8525 connected BlueTooth without a hitch. Understanding that you were more interested in employing the IR as a remote control. I noticed a number of hits on a Bing for BlueTooth to IR. It would seem the last couple of years have spawned a number of IR handoff devices that recieve your BT command and pass it off to PS3, etc with IR projections. Some appeared to have a combination of WiFi function which would extend your range from device drastically. I know this original bit was like 3 years old. And solutions are old hat.

BOBBYDS1 is your connection between the Kaiser and the Car Kit using Bluetooth as a headset (in other words the phone still functions and you can look up and dial with the phone) or is it using rSAP (Remote Sim) which switches your Kaiser into flight mode. I ask this as it will determine which way you look for a solution. If its using rSAP then most Nokia systems that are fitted into cars as factory fit have not yet developed the correct software to communicate with Windows Mobile devices, in which case you will need to remove Jetware from you Kaiser and use my solution on a previous post as quoted above. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...+Nokia+car+kit Mark
The phone still functions as i can disconnect by the phone it self here is the thing sometimes I can disconnect call by the nokia bluetooth device but a lot of times I cannot disconnect, i have to pull phone out of my pocket and end call
@BOBBYDS1 and fb.knight No offence guys, but you need to go back to Junior High and learn how to use commas, question marks and letter cases. Posts like that will rarely get you any kind of a reasonable response.
what nokia bluetooth car kit are you trying to use?
Still not clear if your carkit is using headset or rSAP profiles. Can you either tell us the model of the carkit, or tell us if you can browse the internet from the phone whilst its connected to the carkit? Punctuation good enough there Dark?! (JOKE!!)
IT is a Nokia CK15-w Bluetooth Car kit Here is a link to it. http://www.nokiausa.com/A4431279 Also I can surf the internet while it is connected to the bluetooth.
Looks like that model supports: Hands-free Profile 1.5, Phonebook Access Profile 1.0 (Source: Nokia Europe The Kaiser supports: File Transfer Profile, SIM Access Profile (rSAP), Dial-Up Networking Profile, Personal Area Networking Profile, Hands-Free Profile 1.5, Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (I'm guessing A2DP) (Source: www.theunwired.net So I'm guessing that whilst it will work as a glorified headset, you have no chance of getting your contacts downloaded! Should be able to get them from your SIM, just not the main memory. Wonder why Nokia removed the rSAP profile? It was on their 610 (rSAP only) 616 (rSAP and Handsfree) then from the 810 and CK-15 it seems to be handsfree only. This could be why so many are having problems with Nokia carkits, Nokia went and changed the supported bluetooth profiles. Funny, I would have thought the newer the model, the more it would have done, but I guess not! Glad I looked into this as I was thinking about 'upgrading' to the 810 for the full handset, guess I won't be now!
I am getting confused, I downloaded the jetstream program to the phone and was able to download the contact list no problem. The problem i am having is when i make a call from the nokia bluetooth when I am done and hit the endcall button on the nokia it does not end the call, I have to pull out the phone and hit the end button on the phone itself. any suggestions on how to correct this.

Click to collapse So downloading contacts isn't your problem, hanging up whilst having jetware installed is? Better post would have been something along the lines of: "I'm having trouble ending calls on my Kaiser using the end button on my Nokia CK-15 carkit. I installed the Jetware program to enable downloading contacts, but this stops the end key working on the Kaiser, before this it was working fine just the carkit couldn't download contacts. Does anyone know of any settings in Jetware I can try, that would restore the end key function, or other software that would still enable me to download contacts and have and end key?" - That might have got you an answer sooner... Right, the phone as it comes doesn't support phonebook access, thus you won't be able to download your contacts. Actually, none of the Nokia bluetooth carkits support downloading contacts from the internal memory of a Windows Mobile device, probably because no Nokia uses Windows Mobile (yet). You add something like Jetware which gives you the ability to access the phonebook, but then you are unable to end a call via the carkit. My best guess is Jetware does something which interupts the commands from the carkit. I'm also guessing your stuck with either having contacts download or and end call option. Add Jetware back and play with it's settings. You may get lucky. However bluetooth is very buggy and the only way to get 2 devices to work perfectly with eachother without running the risk of having to fiddle or loose something is to buy them from the same manufacturer and check they are fully compatible with eachother. Two devices from 2 manufacturers don't always work. Here are some examples: Old Ericsson headset, will work perfectly with my old HTC phone and can't even be seen by my Kaiser. Slightly newer one (that has an LCD for caller ID) will work once connected until I switch it off, then requires the old HTC phone to be soft reset before it will connect again. Works perfectly with the Kaiser. Brand new, cheapy Motorola headset does what it feels like with no consistency on my older HTC, again works perfectly on the Kaiser. My Nokia 610 carkit will connect to both phones, but whilst the older phone needs to be soft reset before turning off the ignition (otherwise the phone part of things crashes), the Kaiser will connect and disconnect just as Nokia intend. The carkit will only download SIM contacts. The fix posted above isn't really a fix, it's fooling the carkit into thinking that another phone (the Nokia N95) is the kaiser, downloading the contacts from it and then reconnecting the real Kaiser. Not a fix, but a brilliant workaround. Also noticed that the CK-15 uses bluetooth version 1.2, the Kaiser bluetooth version 2. This might be something to do with it. In short, I think you will have to live with either a phonebook, or an end function. Welcome to the wonderful world of bluetooth. It also doesn't help that Nokia hasa a history of making devices which don't work with anything other than another Nokia device...
Is there any way to change the kaiser to use bluetooth 1.2. Also is there a way to contact jetware besides email as they dont reply.
In your reply you state thAT Nokia devices csnt download from internal memory of kaiser phone, how can i set it up to download from the sim is there a way.
BOBBYDS1 said: Is there any way to change the kaiser to use bluetooth 1.2 Click to expand... Click to collapse I seriously doubt anyone will be writing a bluetooth stack v1.2 for the Kaiser anytime soon. I also have a feeling that the versions are hardware, not software related, so its impossible. I think you may have to accept that the Kaiser and Nokia will never play nicely. Why don't you install Jetware, sync your contacts, then either disable it (I'm sure I remember an option in the settings when I tried it previously) or just delete the program? You could keep the installer cab on your device somewhere as its only 500kb for when you need to reinstall it? If there isn't a phone number on the jetware homepage, I'm betting you can't call them. But I did notice there is an advanced set-up options menu. Did you try unchecking all the boxes apart from phonebooks? If the "hang-up/swap to incomming call" option is unchecked, Jetware should pass that command to the phones standard bluetooth software and give you back your end key. From the Jetware site: "When this option is unchecked the Extension will allow hang up commands to be processed by the built-in code, which will disconnect all active voice calls." If it's currently checked, try unchecking it.

Can you either tell us the model of the carkit, or tell us if you can browse the internet from the phone whilst its connected to the carkit? Punctuation good enough there Dark?! (JOKE!!) Car Kit with Diamond - not syncing tel nos
I've had my Diamond for a week now and apart from the battery life being a bit poor - I love it! I'm managing to get through all the little niggles and annoyances with the help of you guys - but this one has me stumped! I set it up with my bluetooth car kit. Its an Alpine stereo with a bluetooth unit attached (iDA-X001 with KCE-300BT if anyones interested?!). The car kit has worked fine with most of my previous phones except Nokia Symbian ones. Perhaps this has changed in newer updates to them - but the original N95 wouldnt display my phone book.# It works the same way as a Parrot - in that the unit checks your phone book for recent updates - and keeps them stored on it. Then you can dial from it by selecting a number from your 'local' phonebook. The Diamond seems to work fine with incoming calls - but sticks at 'Updating' with outgoing - meaning I can never make a call from the car kit without dialing with the handset. Its like it never pushes the phone numbers across to the bluetooth adapter (which is meant to store them). I've clicked the Remote SIM on in the settings. Anything else I can try? Is there a way I can FORCE my contacts onto it?
