TyTN II SAP - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
The new TyTN looks good but does anyone know if the SIM Access Profile works with the Mercedes Bluetooth module?
The only thing that stopped me getting the original TyTN was that it didn't work in my car so it would be nice to know if it is fixed now. If not then I guess I will have to go for the Nokia E90 but I would like a touch screen.
Thanks,
Ady.

Mercedes bluetooth pairing
Hi there, the TyTn II will not pair with the Mercedes SAP 'puck'. It is necessary to purchase the HFP puck from MB (this will fit to the plug inside the center arm-rest).
The handset will now pair with the Comand unit, however to enable the contact list transfer it is necessary to purchase a small program from 'jetware.com'; when this is downloaded to the handset the complete contact list (including numbers on the sim card) will be seen on the cars display.
Hope this helps.

Nokia Bluetooth Car kit with HP6315

I know this is for only XDA devices, & I tried searching but I didnt see anything except for 1 post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11128&highlight=nokia+car+kit
But I thought I might try you guys here.
I have posted on other HP related sites as well for the same problem.
This site was so usefull when I had my Siemens SX56.
The only thing I wanted to know is if anyone knows if there is any add on driver I can add to it to make the hp6315 bond with my nokia bluetooth carkit model # CARK112.
I cant seem to get it to bond?
I did get my Jabra BT200 to bond and work correctly.
This is what nokia says about it?
*Compatible phones must support the Bluetooth 1.1 specification and Handsfree profile.
As far as I know the hp 6315 doesn't support handsfree only headset?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
...have you tried the "explore a BT device" in the BT connection wizard, not the "handsfree/headset" set-up? I paired it together once & it worked fine...I do beleive this "widcomm stack of BT" supports handsfree...
BTW, after I added another headset (my SE HBH-65) it didn't connect again, but BT is funny/finicky doing multi-device connxns...
Nokia Carkit with HP6315??????
Thanks , I will try that I will let you know.
...another tip...even better tyhan the last one that I don't think is necessary if you use this one : when pairing h-set/handsfree device about half way thru the wizard hit the tools button (I think?) & it default-checks, "show only handsfree devices", uncheck that & you should now see the carkit show-up! This of course makes no sense since the carkit is a handsfree device but it seems to work so go with it...
thanks that did the trick!!!!!!
I just yest spent some extended time with CarKit (it in my wife's car) & it wasn't very reliable. After turning the car off & then back on it would not re-establish a pairing. After resetting both iPaq & carkit (turning off & on again, I'd go thru the wizard again & it would re-establish but would duplicate the carkit on the iPaq...
Has your kit been more reliable? (I have the nokia Cark112)
nokia car kit with ipaq
No. mine has been doing the same thing.
...ya, my work around has been to delete the previous carkit pairing & re-establish itself - a new one - obviously not great but workable if you need it...btw, every Nokia phone (even the newest ones) work fine with this kit...so who knows - I may get the Nokia 9500...

Kaiser car (BMW) bluetooth issue

Hey all,
I tried connecting the Kaiser to my BMW and was able to setup the bluetooth connection without any problems. Once the connection is established, the car tries downloading the contacts, and thats when the Kaiser reboots. My 05 BMW has the iDrive and will display the list of contacts on the screen so I can choose which contact to call. BMW does not appear to support any HTC phones but thought I'd throw the question out there. Does any Kaiser owners around here drive BMW's, with or without problems?
Thanks fellas
Hi,
I can confirmt that everything works fine with my BMW and Kaiser
ROM 1.56.405.5
Hop, that helps.
Chris
Get your iDrive's firmware updates and download the latest DVD for it.
that will sort you out.
x5world is where you will find all the info
Thanks guys!!!
I confirm: Kaiser + e91 with cip v.25
The last cip for bmw e9x series is 27.
I also confirm that Kaiser works great with BMW X3 from 04 bluetooth kit...

Phone book working on a E46 05. If you see a message saying please wait, do just that! took awhile for the phone book to transfer. SMS message display not working, as expected.
my kaiser with 6.1 original HTC rom and enabled remote sim access works great with x5 2004. sms messaging don't work, any solution
Both my Kaisers (home & work) on Duttys 6.1 & Vodafone standard 6.1 respectively communicate fine with the BMW 3 series bluetooth - including downloading contacts.
The sound quality isn't great though....

[Solution Found!] TyTN II Connection to Volkswagen

Please read my post on page TWO for the solution...
Has any one actually succeeded in connecting their TyTN II (Kaiser) to a VW phone prep (Nokia HT-2)?
I have connected and the phone works perfect, except I can not get the phone book to transfer to the car. If I try to send it manually and send as a vCard I can read the card but not save it down. I have tried using Jetware but to no avail (unless I got the settings wrong!).
Anyone else suffering from the same thing or can shine a light on a resolution?
Mark.
are you talking hardwire or BT.
I have the BT module in my A3, no issues from day one..

I'm using BT - the phone itself works fine and it connects using rSAP perfect, except it will not download the phone book.
I would take the VW in, see if there is a software upgrade.
I have paired a Razr, 6700 (CDMA) Tytn and a Tytn II to my A3, and the phone book downloaded every one except the CDMA 6700

Have you enabled/ticked remote sim access in the bluetooth settings menu on the TYTN II?

I have contacted my local VW and they don't know of any software upgrade. They are going to ask VW but thinks we may get a negative answer back as the phone is not on their supported phone list.

Yes - As I said earlier the phone connects and works perfectly with the car - except for the phone book not being downloaded.

This may be a problem specifically to the HT-2, unless the Audi version is the same hardware. I don't have a VW, but do have an older Nokia rsap carkit (610) and that will work fine for sending / receiving calls and texts, but will not copy the text back to the phone. For contacts, it will read ones off the SIM, but refused to read the contacts from the main memory. As an experiment, try storing a couple of numbers on the SIM, then set the HT-2 to only download SIM contacts (if possible) and see if that works...least then you will know if it's all contacts, or only the main memory ones.
Thanks Steve
Already tried that - it will take contacts off the sim - all communication with the sim works just as it should - it just wont play ball with the phone book.
Maybe thats the only option available to you?have the SIM as full as possible with all the main numbers you are likely to call when in the car, then maybe hae a holder for the tytn say a brodit cradle on a dashmount so you can acces other contacts.

I've just got the Brodit holder ready to go in. (As the Car Phone takes over the use of the SIM from the TyTN, I will not be able to dial out with the TyTN - only look up the numbers so I would have to key them into the Car Phone).
The thing I don't like about using the SIM is it fills the TyTN phone book with really poor quality contacts (and I don't mean the people them selves ) but creates duplicates or even triplicates as the SIM only holds one number per name and some contacts have home, mobile and even work plus the original sync entry from my exchange server.
Its really annoying as it works perfect with my Nokia N95 and I got fed up with the symbian OS short comings trying to connect to MS exchange etc. - that's why I now have the TyTN.
One day we might be able to get it to work....!
the symbian OS has a mail for exchange client that should run on the N95 which you plug in all your exchange server details etc.

Thanks Tom. Yes it has and it does, but as with all things that use a 'middle ware' its not a seamless as the real thing. The way in which the HTC will communicate with my server is as near to perfect as its going to get and the ease of entering data and using the calender on the HTC is (in my opinion) much easier.
I upgraded from the N95 to the HTC to get what I thought was a better business phone and that I think is what I got - except for this damn phone book...!

Then I think you'll find that's the incompatibility of the Nokia carkit and Windows mobile. I tried my carkit with a Nokia 6230i and everything is seamless.
Personally I blame Nokia, since they are known to have taken the 'open' bluetooth standard and made it somewhat propriatary on their devices. For example a headset that just worked fine on a very old Ericsson (possibly one of the first bluetooth headsets, and phones), fine on both my HTC devices, refuses to work at all with a Nokia 6310, 6230 and only partially with a 6230i, as in it worked when it felt like and the wind was blowing in the right direction. I've found several bluetooth devices that do this. Look at the bright side though, at least it works for voice calls fine! My old HTC phone would pair up nicely, but unless you left it doing something (like playing music on silent) it would powerdown and disconnect after 20 mins, regardless of being in a call or not. It also required a soft reset after I turned the ignition off, but before the carkit disconected, otherwise the phone would know it was disconnected but refuse to reactive its own phone unless I went into comm manager, pressed the phone icon 3 times (waiting for it to try to power up each time), then soft reset, then switch the phone on again. It got old quickly...and no, the jetware software you can get didn't help.
try this
Make sure that your phone numbers have no symbols other than (, ), or -. Remove all other letters and symbols like p, x, extension, *, etc.
This worked to connect to my Parrot.
Sorted - The Answer...!
OK - not the perfect solution, but at least it works.
1. Pair the TyTN II to the car (Nokia HT-2) phone.
2. Switch car ignition OFF and switch off TyTN II.
3. Remove SIM from TyTN II.
4. Place SIM into a compatible phone (in my case Nokia N95).
5. Switch on N95, switch on Bluetooth, switch on Remote SIM access.
6. Change the Bluetooth ID name on the N95 to the same as the TyTN II.
7. Make phone discoverable via Bluetooth.
8. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
9. Using car controls search for new device.
10. When N95 is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as the TyTN II (if you selected the same name for the Bluetooth ID).
11. On the car browse to Settings - Phonebook - Update, this will then import all your contacts from your N95 (or compatible phone).
12. Switch off ignition and switch off N95.
13. Replace SIM back to TyTN II.
14. Ensure TyTN II Bluetooth is ON, Remote SIM is ON and the phone is Discoverable.
15. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
16. Using car controls search for new device.
17. When TyTN II is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as before.
18. Now browse the car Phonebook as normal - All your contacts are now available for you to use.
19. Don't forget to turn off discoverability on the TyTN II and to rename your compatible phone (N95) to prevent any future conflicts.
This worked for me! I hope it will work for you! Good Luck!

Crikey! And I thought I had to jump through hoops! Well done on finding a solution..how on earth did you come up with it?!
Although this works for now what happens when you add new contacts?

You'll have to add it in the same way using the compatible phone - a pain I know (especially if you have a high rate of turnover of friends etc!). But at least its better than using the TyTN as a telephone directory stuck in a Brodit holder!
The numbers are in the car phone and the TyTN is prepared to talk to it - best solution to date! If someone can better it, please do. I for one will be greatfull.

Can anyone tell me if the HT-2 phone preparation is called "Premium Bluetooth"?
I've read all the VW forums and no one can tell me if Vw's "Premium Bluetooth" module (5N0 035 730) is dual band 800/1900 or quad band 800/850/1800/1900.
I'd like to purchase one because I have an rSAP compatible phone but I live in the U.S. and we only have GSM850/1900 frequencies.
Also, does anyone know if the module downloads phonebook contacts in stored on the phone's memory (not the SIM)? In other words does it have Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)? Additionally, if it has PBAP, is it PBAP/PSE or PBAP/PCE?
One last question...does the "Basic Bluetooth" aka "Bluetooth Audio" (3C0 035 729) the kind everyone gets from Skoda support PBAP? If so which type of PBAP does it support - most new phones with PBAP only support PSE.
Any photos of the labels from both of these would be great. I especially need a close-up of the "Premium Bluetooth" unit I can't make out what is says under "NOKIA" - if it's a Nokia-specific code I could get some definitive answers from them.
Thanks!

Bluetooth Car Kit Problems

I have experienced few irritating problems with my Diamond when used in my Seat Leon 2008's stock head unit via bluetooth:
1. Phonebook is displayed always and I can call phones from there which is OK, however "Incoming Calls", "Outgoing Calls" and "Missed Calls" are not working always: sometimes I have those lists filled with the corresponding entries, sometimes all three lists are empty.
2. When I am running iGO8, the bluetooth connection gets connected and disconnected each 5 minutes or so.
3. The headset volume is really low. I didn't have that problem with my Sony Ericsson phones before.
Does anyone have any of those problems and know a solution for them?
Only thing i can say. Stock seat bluetooth is terrible. My brother has orderd a new seat and the dealer advised to choose for the pioneer mounted radio because of the known problems with the seat unit and the bluetooth functions of it.
try posting in the Accesories section, u might get more help.

Pioneer isn't that good either, I had the Pioneer radio with Bluetooth and I couldn't get it running with my previous phone Trinity P3600 and with my Diamond it didn't work either.
Willem
I have used the stock head unit previously with simple mobile phones and it has always worked perfectly and I was very happy with the bluetooth implementation in Seat. So, I think the problem is not in the head unit (i.e. an accessory problem) but lies somewhere in the "phonebook through bluetooth" implementation in the Diamond.
Hello,
I have the same problem. I have a Skoda Octavia II (2007) with built-in bluetooth and a Diamond (ROM 2.03).
I use the iGO8, and it works fine, but the bluetooth connects and disconnects randomly in all ~5 minutes. When I shut down the iGO8 or when it runs on the background, the bluetooth works perfectly, when it runs in the foreground, the bluetooth disconnects again...
Who knows wat is this problem? Should I try a new ROM? A new radio version? A new iGO version?
CyberGene: Have you a solution for this problem? Or you use a different iGO8 or a different navi software?
Thanks,
DuckHead_
Unfortunately I didn't find any solution to the problem. To be honest, I am currently using a SonyEricsson phone and the Diamond is used by my girlfriend. We are still using iGo from within the Diamond but with no Bluetooth activated.
Thank you for the quick answer.
Why don't you just take your car into a car audio place and get them to check it out for you
I thought it so that the problem with Diamond. The BT does not work only if running the iGO...

TYTN II and the Kenwood KDC-BT8041U

I am haviing trouble with the bluetooth handsfree operation when connecting my TYTN II to the above car unit. The unit accepts calls fine and I can make calls fine when dialling from the phone unit but the functionality of the head unit never works so even though the address book has downloaded andcan be seen when accessing different functions I cannot bring it up on the unit to make a call. The incoming callers details are displayed also so that suggests everything has sync'd ok.
Has anyone else come across this and if so can you give me some advice as I suppose I can live with it but it's a shame not to get the full functionality from the units bluetoth.
Really appreciate any help you may be able to give.
Thanks,
Tim
I had a similar problem with my BT car kit (ck-15w nokia)not reading the contacts from the phones memory the solution I found was to add Jetware software to the phone (http://www.jetwaremobile.com/) they have free demo download which allowed the car kit to read all my contacts ok
