To control ppc from pc: program for Linux - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I used Linux, but when i used ppc from pc i can used Pocket Controller-Pro 6, but it is only for win. Is there a simil program but for Linux?

You might search to see if anyone has tried to get that to run under Wine.

i thought about that too, but i doubt that it will work. It's too in-debth for an emulator if you ask me. Sad that there ain't no linux for our devices...

if there was made a vnc server for pocketpc you can use that
i sugest googling for "vnc pocketpc server"

Active Sync isn't compatible with Wine and without Active Sync, Pocket Controller-Pro 6 don't work.
Moreover, on Linux the pda isn't recognized. The system don't look him

Any idea?

Hi guys,
Right yep I looked into this a while ago, a few points:
* Linux detects and works just fine with my kaiser, i connect it up, it gets an IP and happily will let me talk to it, transfer files, etc (Running kubuntu)
* Remote control, there isn't a fab way of doing this, I use pocket VNC server on my kaiser, and use crossover to run winvnc on my linux machine (for some reason the linux vnc client won't work/doesn't get a supported screen resolution/colour match)
So hopefully that'll help you along. Firstly you need to get your linux machine 'connecting' to your wm6 device.
You also need to REMOVE the ipaq/default kernel module that loads when you connect your kaiser, as you should be using the rndis_host/cdc_ether drivers instead, so tweaking your udev rules are needed, so when you plug your kaiser into usb you should get modules like this:
rndis_host 7424 0
cdc_ether 6528 1 rndis_host
usbnet 18824 2 rndis_host,cdc_ether
And dmesg output on mine shows:
[96659.436000] usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
[96659.612000] usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[96661.388000] rndis0: register 'rndis_host' at usb-0000:00:1d.0-1, RNDIS device, 80:00:60:0f:e8:00
I can then see an interface come up:
ifconfig eth2
eth2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 80:00:60:0F:E8:00
inet addr:169.254.2.2 Bcast:169.254.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::8200:60ff:fe0f:e800/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:8050 Metric:1
RX packets:36 errors:31 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:2
TX packets:45 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:2306 (2.2 KB) TX bytes:6849 (6.6 KB)
Which lets me ping my kaiser:
ping 169.254.2.1
PING 169.254.2.1 (169.254.2.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 169.254.2.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=128 time=4.29 ms
64 bytes from 169.254.2.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=128 time=3.40 ms
The main instructions on getting it to mesh together are at http://synce.sourceforge.net/
Its not easy though! be warned!!

Oh and you *have* to remove pin protection from your kaiser for this to work, the odccm daemons and their brothers (dccm, et al) will not work right with pin protection as I worked for a long time trying to get that working without success.

What pin? SIM pin?
However very thanks

nah, you can leave you're sim pin, its the device protection pin/security you need to not use (the one where you wake up the device and it asks for an unlock pin)

Ah, ok. Thanks

WM5: Unable to sync with my laptop with Toshiba BT!

I just bought an Asus M6VA laptop (called Z70 something in the US), and it has built-in Bluetooth. I can connect with the serial port OK, I can use the Dial-Up Networking to surf the net with my laptop and the BA as the modem, but I'm unable to get AS working. I have AS over BT working with my office computer, that has a Logitech DiNovo Media Desktop bluetooth, with Widcomm stack. But the Asus has a Toshiba stack with a totally different setup, and I can't get it to work.
The Widcomm stack sees AS and even an audio gateway, so I can use the PC as a handsfree device for my BA (even though the sound's rather terrible), but the Toshiba stack only sees a serial port and DUN on it. i would appreciate any pointers and help!
have you set up active sync on your laptop to connect via bluetooth.you have to click on file conection settings and select allow connection to one of the following and then select the com port your pocket pc is using.also when you setup your pocket pc to connect to your laptop it gives you the option of serial port but you also have to have active sync selected aswell if it does not show up then press refresh.let me know wat happens.
I tried again, and when I connect the serial port, I see "Microsoft ActiveSync cannot recognize this device for one of two reasons " and then it suggests that it wasn't connected properly, or that it isn't a PPC or smartphone.
I have the serial port on the PC set to Com6, and AS is set up to allow syncing through that port. On the PPC I have outgoing port Com 0 (just about the only port I could get it to accept, but I tried one other, I think it was Com 9, and that didn't help). I have done a bunch of refreshes but I can't see active sync as an available service on the laptop. I belive that's the problem, since I could see that on my office computer, and that connected and synced without problems.
In AS on your laptop delete any previous partnerships with your PDA. If possible, delete any laptop partnerships in AS on your PDA as well. On your PDA, go to Settings -> System -> Bluetooth Settings. Choose to start AS setup...
It sounds like your laptop may be using the MS drivers... There should be an option to make your laptop Discoverable, but I'm not very familiar with the MS stack... more familiar with the Widcomm. Look for something like Advanced settings in the left window pane...
Let us know if any of that helps!
I have tried that , but clicking on the Start button gives me a window "Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or Active Sync profile as your AS partner". And I have already bonded! Bonding again doesn't change anything.
http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/579009962631/m/519002845731 use these instructions that is what i did and it worked fine.let me knw
Nope, it doesn't work at all. Like I said in the first post, this is not a Microsoft stack, it's a proprietary Toshiba stack, and it doesn't have any of the setup windows or settings that this guide mentions.
You've probably thought of this....
Maybe you need to manually create a serial port to your PDA... When you paired the PDA to the laptop, what services were you offered? If Serial port is available, create the connection, note down the COM#. With BT started, in AS allow synch via new BT COM port...
Yes, I have tried that, and it didn't work.
I finally managed to do it! I found a way to use the Micro$oft BT Stack instead of the Toshiba one, and now I'm finally set up for AS over BT with the guide mentioned above. Thanks!

Remote Desktop Problem

I Installed WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab on my Tilt and on the connect screen entered ip address (68.50.15x.xxx) for computer and user name and password of my PC account and left domain blank. It comes back with error message.
Coannot Connect. Likely Reasons
1. The remote computer is not set up for this
2. Reached maximum connections
3. A network error occurred while connectin
I have set up a user account on my PC with password and access to remote services.
Number 2. cannot be true as there are no connections right now.
What am I doing wrong, Do I need to tweak anything to make this works.
Please help.. Thanks in advance.
Make sure you have the port open. I don't remember the number because I've changed my default port but I'm sure you can google it.
Port Number is 3389. How do I open this? I am directly connected to the cable modem. Thanks
You should try to connect to your pc using another pc first before focusing on connection on the PDA. Maybe some firewall software on your PC is just blocking incomming connections on port 3389? HTH
I used MS port queri to query the port. It looks like something is blocking the port. I dont know what. I tried the connection after disabling mcaffee firewall. still no luck.
Port queri returned with this
Querying target system called:
sk-machine
Attempting to resolve name to IP address...
Name resolved to 68.50.1xx.xxx

TCP port 3389 (unknown service): FILTERED
portqry.exe -n sk-machine -e 3389 -p TCP exits with return code 0x00000002.

"FILTERED" means, that the connection attempt was actually rejected by the PC. Meaning: there is an a firewall which is filtering the port. Maybe you have the windows firewall still enabled?

Try installing Hamachi both on your pc & kaiser, then you'll be able to connect securely from it with a fixed ip, no need to open ports

or setup an account over at LogMeIn. Web-based, fast, it's perfect for me.

You probably just have the Windows Default Firewall enabled. Which version of Windows are you running?
Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/internet/sp2_wfexceptions.mspx
Vista
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/4da18300-9044-47b6-9038-595c78db81ab1033.mspx
If that still doesn't fix your problem then look at your internet security/virus scanner
My Windows XP sp2 Firewall is turned off and also to be on the safer side, I have checked remote access under "exceptions".
I turned off my Antivirus (Mcaffee) firewall and tried ms port queri again and it still shows as filtered. I dont have any routers, PC is connected directly to the cable modem. Do you think ISPs block port 3389? ISP is comcast, rockville MD
I have made sure that Terminal services is running and Port 3389 is listening (netstat -a)
There are so many articles about identifying blocked/in active port 3389 port on the net but none actually says how to fix it.
That would suck if they block it. Try this out. Oh and I don't think just disabling the virus scanner will solve your problem if that is what is causing it.
http://www.auditmypc.com/firewall-test.asp
Maybe that will show you something you don't know already. (like if all your ports are closed, which would mean there is an active firewall somewhere) Also I would suggest that if you can't get it working any time soon, try to get a router and another computer hooked into yours. This way you can have a network and comcast out of the equation. Try remote desktop from the other computer. Also
Are you using XP pro or home?
Thanks Chumley, I am at work now so will run the firewall audit later on. I have xp media center (which would be home I think).
I tried to telenet to port 3389 to my Home Ip, connection errored out. So port 3389, even though shows as listening, still being blocked by something other than AV firewall or windows firewall.
media center is based off of pro, which is good because then remote desk is actually a feature. HEHE.
hmm, when I do
telnet ip 3389
it's goes to a totally black screen. Never tried that before. I think you can do the port test from work.
Cannot do the firewall test from work as it bases its test on work ip.
for telent test you can type telnet in Start->run
then
o [ip] 3389
I get connect failed.

USB-OTG to USB/Ethernet Not Working

Hey Guys,
I have a question about using USB-OTG to USB/Ethernet adapter with the Nexus 6. I am running a nightly CM12 version 12-06022015. I have a USB-OTG to USB/Ethernet adapter. When I connect everything to the phone and the computer the phone recognizes the setup and I can view eth0 in the terminal and even assign a static IP to the eth0 interface. The adapter also shows activity lights and so does the ethernet port on the laptop. However, I cannot ping the computer. I have the ethernet port on the Laptop configured with the address 192.168.1.100/24 and the phone eth0 configured as 192.168.1.101/24 but the request times out trying to reach either device. The crazy part is that if I leave the laptop doing a continuous ping and reboot the phone through the terminal it pings until the phone is fully booted up and then it stops pinging and returns to the request timed out message!! I am at a loss. Any help would be awesome. Also sorry if this is in the wrong thread but it looked appropriate to post here.
Solved. I downloaded an app from the play store called "Ethernet" and had it automatically assign the IP. For some reason it assigned the phone an APIPA address. When I configured the laptop with an APIPA address on the same network it worked like a charm. There was an interface that showed up with "busybox ifconfig" command that had an APIPA address but it wasn't the eth0 interface. I believe it was the rmnet_usb0 interface bit I'm not sure. Either way the app worked but I'll continue to play around and get it to work without the app.

Wifi stuck at turning on, question on hardware numbers

There are plenty of wifi issue not turning on under this forum, a lot of them were resolved by turning on and off, reload rom etc. But I narrowed down to some question possibly hardware related and need some clarification on settings.
Wifi was working on a older android mod. After a certain time left the machine, I dug it out recently to use it and wifi is "suck at the turning on phase". Android will also goes into a boot loop after 30 sec after boots. I even tried CM11, CM12, Evolv and all of them were the same thing, stuck at turning on wifi.
So I went to recovery and looking at the hardware address , numbers and settings and discover few things.
The adapter name is not the typical eth0, it's call dummy0. Also there is something call "lo" Link encap:Local Loopback under the hardware.
Here are the numbers:
dummy0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr DAlB0:37:5E:9F:93
BROADCASTS NOARP MTU:1500 METRIC:1
(follow by a bunch of 0s on RX packets etc etc)
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 METRIC:1
(follow by a bunch of 0s on RX packets etc etc)
Now looking at this information, the dummy0 should be the wifi adapter information right? What is broadcast NOARP means?
I have tried to turn on the dummy0 device and it will show UP Broadcast, also turning on ARP (I read somewhere this should be default) and after booting back into android, these settings will revert back to the information above.
Can anyone shine a light on if this is the right place poking at the wifi adapter setting or it's some type of hardware failure causing the wifi not turning on?

If you do not need any DATA and what to start clean then follow this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hp-touchpad/general/hp-touchpad-optimize-android-swap-t3901773
Wifi works on all the ROMs listed on that guide, if flash as listed.
If after doing the Automatic_ Wipe_All and flash any desire ROM, the Wifi still does not work, my last suggestion will be to open the Tablet and see if the Wifi antenna (wire) came off.
If is a hardware issue and the Wifi does not work, then a wire Ethernet connection must be use to connect to the internet:
To do that, buy an Android Ethernet adapter ( make sure you can get the drivers to be built into the Kernel )
Also a USB OTG that provides power must be use to for the Ethernet adapter.
The Tablet can be use as a Dektop computer or Laptop.
