Hi, Ive looked around the forum and cannot find a solution to my problem. Ok, step by step here is what I did: I used the button 1.05 custom ROM, this was installed successfully. Then I used the definitive guide to unlocking the G3 wizard using the lokiwiz tool and this was successful as far as I know. I then upgraded to the t - mobile 3.08 ROM as this was recommended before upgrading to a WM6 ROM. This is where the problems began. I tried to flash Faria's WM6 crossbow rom and partway through the flash it hung and got stuck in bootloader mode. I read around the forums and tried to downgrade back to button 1.05, the tmobile 3.08 rom, and also the cingular 2.25 rom. The furthest I got was about 49% on the progress when my phone returns to the bootloader screen. My phone always seems to do one of two things: I either get a communication error "with my pc" which starts the recovery process(which never actually works) or I get error 274 which says that I am no longer connected to my pc (even though it still says "usb" on the screen of my pocket pc. I know that my battery will soon run out and I will have to buy a new one to resume trying to get my phone to work again. I ve also uninstalled active sync, re- down loaded and installed it, rebooted my computer (as was suggested) and this didnt work. Some one please help me as I am pretty new at this and cannot find this exact issue on the forums. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

You have misread and misunderstood the definitive guide.You are confusing T-mobile 2.26 and IPL/SPL 3.08,its T-mobile 2.26 and not T-mobile 3.08. T-mobile 2.26 is a Rom ,an OS (Operating System) and IPL/SPL 3.08 are the latest upgrades to Bootloaders and not a rom.
Now,after downgrading with Button's Rom 1.05,your phone's IPL/SPL must have been 1.05,then you applied lokiwiz02b to SIM/CID unlock the phone,but ipl/spl must have remained 1.05 as you had Button's Rom 1.05 installed on your phone.
In order to upgrade to wm6,its required to have IPL/SPL 2.xx,so you were supposed to flash T-mobile 2.26 to get your IPL/SPL 2.26,but,instead of flashing t-mobile 2.26,you flashed IPL/SPL 3.08,so you have now IPL/SPL 3.08,correct ?
IPL/SPL 3.08 is an option to upgrade your IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) but upgrading to T-mobile 2.26 is recommended,so that you get IPL/SPL 2.xx to upgrade to wm6.There's your mistake,got my point ?
So,now try to downgrade to ipl/spl 2.xx or 1.xx,to do so,download the official carrier's rom of your phone from it's website and flash to get back to its original default status.
After that reread the guide correctly and follow the method.

OK i downloaded the official cingular ROM 2.25 and attempted to flash it. I got about 76% done and got a communication error. I've tried to do it several times since then with no luck. However, my ipl and spl did change to 2.25. What should I do now?

ok,get into Bootloaders (tricolor screen)check usb appear at the bottom of bootloaders,,try to get down to ipl/spl 1.xx,first try with button's rom,if it works,fine,otherwise try xda_minis_launch rom or wizard_love rom,if any of them installs,download WST tool and check the status of your phone by hitting the 'CID Action' button.It'll verify if your phone is locked or unlocked,ok,if unlocked then flash t_mobile 2.26 and if locked,run the lokiwiz02b again to unlock.
while flashing,turn off any antivirus,firewall and don't surf the net,check email or play any games.Leave the phone and pc alone.Must have a fully charged battery.Delete partnership with activesync and uncheck 'Allow usb connection' in the activesync,it helps sometimes.Try with a different usb cable or plugin usb cable in other usb input slot of the pc.I do hope,it might do the trick and work out fine.

A friend om mine owns an MDA Vario, upgraded to Molski's 2.26.. The Wizard lags horribly at games, music and any other cpu intensive task (even before Molski's ROM!), their are also strange logfiles on the root of the wizzard (dbgtostorage..) about 4MB each, they pile up and one of them (active one..) can't be deleted so its in use by something.. what could it be?
Anyway, I think it's an hardware issue and want to send it for RMA, before doing that I want to flash it back to stock Dutch TMobile IPL/SPL/ROM..
For some reason the SPL can't be downgraded? ROM and IPL change after an update but the SPL sticks at 2.26 (Molski's)
The latest TMobile (2.21) can't be used asks me to find a newer updatetool, can't downgrade..
I've already tried Boot's 1.05 but it won't downgrade the SPL and also tried the Cingular 1.8, same problem.. SPL stil 2.26..
What would happen if I would flash an G4 device with G3 IPL\SPL, would the device stil work but crash or is it just not possible to flash G3 on G4 device?
Is their some commandline IPL\SPL\ROM updatetool without checks and stuff?

If you do this I'll just about guarantee that it'll work

I'm attempting to follow the "Stickied" guide posted by faria (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263116
), the same as posted by Dr. Puttingham (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435). I get stuck trying to downgrade to Button's 1.05 ROM. I've tried several times with no success.
Each time, the progress bar will progress to 98% on the PC and the Wizard. Then the PC will move to 99% leaving the Wizard at 98%. Then the PC will move to 100%, and then eventually close the ROM updater application without displaying the final success message. The handheld stays at 98% until, after a few hours, the battery dies.
My goal is to install Faria's AKU3.3 ROM. It is my understanding that a CID Unlock is required to make that happen. Even so, I attempted to install it without first downgrading. The ROM installation seemed successful, however, when the device rebooted the same ROM seemed to be installed, only this time without the Extended ROM.
Any advice or alternate methods you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you have a g4 and doing this may brick it can you please provide the correct ipl/pl info 2.26.00 G3 or 2.26.01 that would make it g4
You may want to try a different PC to flash it too in case it's a software malfunction in Windows.
man, first you gotta to downgrade the rom 2.26 from T-mobile to CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe
after that you can CID unlock it.
hi all..My MDA VARIO IPL is 1.01 and SPL is 2.26.I flashed MDA 2 times with Button Rom but no changes happend with SPL and its same.I want to upgrade my MDA to the latest Rom available with WM5.Now m stuck with my phone and dont know excatly wat to do.I downloaded the latest Rom from T-Mobile website and try to install but it gives me error i.e "249 Invalid Vendor ID ".

You may try to unlock first, then reflash again and SPL should also stay at 1.01.
I beg to differ. When I CID Unlocked My G3 USA T-Mobile MDA, the SPL never Changed until I flashed it with the 3.08 IPL/SPL.
I just proceeded with the upgrade and everything went fine.

That's just my experience. My Wizard was unlocked this way.
There may be many undiscovered solutions.

How did you CID unlock? Via imei-check's? Or your bootloaders were already 1.xx?
i've installed now Button Rom but still my IPL is 1.01 and SPL is 2.26 which is same as it was before with T-mobile Rom.Anyone can guide how to downgrade my SPL.Also how to chek whether my Phone is CID unlocked now? I run lockiwiz and i think its CID unlocked now but still wana confirm.
OK..finally i got IPL and SPL same i.e 1.01.Now m going for the next step...

To CID unlock my G3 USA T-Mobile MDA, I simply used the tutorial [READ FIRST] The Definitive Guide to Unlocking & Rom Upgrading G3 Wizards and followed the instructions to the letter.
When I received my device, it was a factory shipped USA T-Mobile MDA with IPL/SPL of 2.26.
I flashed the button ROM giving me an IPL of 1.05 but leaving my SPL untouched.
I installed EnableRapi.cab and soft-reset.
I connected as a guest by canceling synchronization.
I downloaded lokiwiz and ran lokiwiz.bat and pressed U to SIM unlock my device and let it reboot itself.
I once again canceled synchronization leaving my device connected as a guest, ran lokiwiz.bat and this time pressed C to CID unlock my device and let it reboot itself.
I used WST to check to see if my device was in fact CID unlocked and it was.
This time I allowed my device to synchronize with my PC when it connected and then proceeded to flash the T-Mobile Official WM5 Rom directly after completing the unlocking process and it went smoothly.
Then I flashed the IPL/SPL set of 3.08 and that went smoothly.
Then I flashed the 2.19.11 T-Mobile UK Radio and again, that went smoothly.
After all of that was completed, I experimented with new ROMs for a while until finally settling for TNT.1437 TouchFlo using the 2.19.11 Radio and never had any problems the whole time.
Everything went so smooth that I thought about writing another tutorial that was simple and to the point describing the process that I used and detailing how to do it since all of the tutorials here are very complex and can be confusing to a noobie flashing for the first time but never got around to it.
Short version:
I have an xda Mini S

spl 2.21
OS 10.1.0.811
I was running the mfrazzz WM6 I think it was vers XM6r5 RC1. I tried to updgrade my ROM to a new one because if issues I was having with this version. It was great but I could no longer surf the web and my unit would crash with the WAN and internet running.
I had to CID unlock my phone last July to get this XM6r5 RC1 to run (I believe I did anyway).
Today I attempted to flash the button ROM to my phone and it made it about 22% then the phone reset and crashed (started to loop on and off at the green, yellow and blue screen). Now it starts to update the rom but most of the time it reenters that loop shortly after the button rom app starts. The battery was full when I started. I have tried 2 different PC's with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
Additional info: the reason I tried to upgrade the phone was it would crash when accessing the web via wifi (just recently). When connected to the PC it was fine. If I used the wifi sometimes it would work for 5 mins sometimes none but everytime I would it would crash and start to loop on and off crashing at the splash screen showing the IPL and SPL. The only way to recover it was to pull the battery. It is now doing this reboot loop at the bootloader screen when it crashes).
I hope thats not TMI but I really want my phone working again.
I just discovered that it will start the reboot sequence regardless of whether it is plugged in or not. It will start randomly rebooting once it is turned on. I tried installing the RUU Hermes Qtek rom and now it is telling my my ipl is 2.26 as well as my spl.

I have a o2 mini s too mine is g4 i dont know yours but if you have hard spl you shouldnt flash official rom if you said that you have 2.26 ips slp then you should not have problems flashing to your official rom but if that doesnt help use the wizard love.

Its really strange,if you say you had XM6r5 RC1,which is your device, G3 or G4 ?,cuz if you have a G3 phone,how come you have ipl 1.01 and spl 2.21.wm6 roms cannot be installed with ipl1.xx,got to have ipl/spl 2.xx. Also you say you Cid unlocked the phone.Are you sure ,it was xm6r5 OS ,which was running on your phone ? How did you flash it ? with ipl 1.01 and spl 2.21 ?

Ok please bear with me my recollection is hazy on this. Last August my phone was runnging the O2 software. After checking in here I identified my phone as a G3 phone. I then checked to see if it was CID locked (after doing a posted test it appeared to be). I don't recall how I did the CID unlock. I followed the CID and flashing insructions posted somewhere in the xda-developers forum (it may have been with the rom I used (mfrazzz version) I think I flashed the original O2 xda software from the O2 site then I flashed the Wm6 to my phone I believe it was XM6r5 RC1. I think it was the XM6r5 RC1 only because when it would boot I would see 3 splash screens. First was a Cylon witht he HTC logo, followed by an orange speedometer (with the IPL listed as 1.01 and spl as 2.21 OS was 10.1.0.811 and I don't know that the GSM numbers were) and the third was the splash screen from mfrazzz (dark blue/green with mfrazzz on it). I am pretty sure it was the XM6r5 RC1 build but I could be wrong I think it was the latest at that time. It was stable for several months (basically until 2 weeks ago) when I deleted the recycle bin and temp fold from the memory card (not the device). After that if I accessed the web via wifi it would crash then go into a repeating loop and the LED would change from green to red. The only way to stop it was to remove the battery. I don't know what else to tell you. When I left it yesterday it was at ipl/spl of 2.26 after initiating a RUU hermes . . . . I left it overnight started it up with button rom and it made it 60% then started looping again and gave the error code 274. A second attemp made it to 14% then code 302 (it started to loop again. It still says ipl/spl 2.26. I'm really at a loss here.
ok, I believe,what you are saying must be true,anyway,its not common or observed or even seen to have ipl 1.xx and upgrade to a wm6 rom,untill you have a cid unlocked phone with ipl/spl 2.xx, I'm really,rather, surprised,how you got it!!! or you might have got ipl 1.xx after now again flashing Button's Rom 1.05,the second time now.
Anyhow,now download the official carrier's rom or T-mobile 2.26 or xda_minis_launch Rom and try to flash and recover back to default status and check with WST tool,speciaaly the 'CID Action' button,to verify the SIN?CID lock/unlock status of the phone, then proceed further,ok

I don't know how I got it either. I do know that the ipl/spl while it was working was 1.01 and 2.21. After my first few attempts to load the button rom and then a version of the hermes and t-mobile rom, my phone boots to the bootloader screen and has ipl/spl of 2.26. I have attempted the t-mobile rom a few times but the most successful was the initial attempt after letting it sit over night. It almost made it through (80%) with the t-mobile rom then it crashed and started its loops again. Subsequent attempts made it to as high as 60% and as low as 14%. Is it possible to charge the battery while it is in boot loader mode, perhaps with a wall charger and not plugged into the PC. I ask b/c I am worried my battery may be getting too low and also when it is plugged into the pc it boots automatically. Perhaps I should ask this but do you know where I can get the xda_minis_launch Rom I have searched here and google and no luck. What i did find here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard_Upgrades gives me an error 530 unable to switch message.

Thanks! I will dl that and try that rom. Have you heard of a phone rebooting like mine does? Today once again I was able to start RUU (t-mobile) and once again it made it to just over 80% and then the phone would reboot and start looping until I removed the battery. I tried again immediately and it made it just past the phone verification before it started the reboot loop. Since then I have been letting it sit. Any suggestions or ideas as to why it would do that?

It won't charge in bootloaders mode or from the pc via usb cable,but you can charge it with a wall charger and its always better and recommended to have a fully charged battery before flashing.

So if it is powered off and I use a wall charger then it should charge. When I started this process the batter had a full charge but I have no idea where it is at now that I have attempted to flash it so many time. With the new rom it only makes it about 65% then it loops. It is really starting to wear my patience.
ok so after reading many many times and attempting to flash to 1.05 which worked but i was never able to upgrade. I used the shell tool to try and get XM6R5 to flash and it locked up. since then the phone now starts to boot but locks in on the button rom (from button with love) and shows
IPL 1.05
SPL 3.08
GSM 01.12.10
OS 1.5.4.2
After sitting on this bootup screen for over a minute the picture looks shaky??
So i attempted to reflash to 1.05 again and it goes all the way to 100% and tells me successful and reboots then locks up! So i try to flash back to Tmobile rom and i get a 296 error: ERROR {296} : UPGRADE ONLY This NBF file cannot be used for your PDA phone. please get new NBF file.
The usb and active sync wont work either.
I even held the comm and voice button and pushed reset and tried to format and it says format failed.
Please help, i now wish i never attempted to flash to WM6. This is a brand new replacement MDA and i figured i would attempt to upgrade it before i did anything and now it seems locked!

First,how did you get SPL 3,08 ?,did you flash the ipl/spl 3.08 before flashing the button's rom 1,05 ?
Secondly,There was no need to upgrade with 'Shell Tool',after downgrading to ipl/spl 1.xx by button's rom,you shud have used 'lokiwiz02b' to SIM/CID unlock the phone and upgraded to any wm6 Rom.Try to get the phone in bootloaders mode(Tricolor screen),if it gets there,download the official carrier's rom of your phone from its website and flash it in the bootloaders to bring the phone back to its default status.After that downgrade with button's rom 1.05 and SIM/CID unlock your phone with 'lokiwiz02b' and upgrade to wm6.
its very hard to brick it fortunatly

I flashed to 1.05, then tried tmobile 2.26, once i did that i upgraded to 3.08 which made ipl/spl 3.08. I tried several times to reflash to 1.05 again and the ipl changed back but the spl stays at 3.08. I have flashed several times to 1.05 and the spl will not change from 3.08(how can i make it do this) So now that the 3.08 is stuck there the original tmobile rom wont install and it gives me a 296 error when attempted.
I have taken the battery out and gotten into bootloader on reboot however, when i flash to 1.05 or tmobile and it goes thru the cycle... once it gets to 100%(I also get the pop up that says upgrade successful and hit ok) the phone reboots and then gets stuck again in the splash screen?!?! then the screen gets shaky looking as well?

hmmmm, thats the mistake.After downgrading to ipl/spl 1.xx after flashing button's 1.05,you shud have first sim/cid unlocked the phone and then flashed t-mobile 2,26 to upgrade to ipl/spl 2.xx.Then shud have upgraded to any wm6 roms,upgrading to ipl/spl 3.08 is not at all necessary for upgrading to wm6,but an option,where as,ipl/spl 2.xx is only required for wm6 upgrading.
You,instead,of getting your phone sim/cid unlocked,flashed and upgraded to 3.08,but to sim/cid unlock,its required to have 1.xx,now it won't downgrade to 1.xx with button's rom.Its very commonly observed that after upgrading to 3.08 without getting the phone sim/cid unlocked,it becomes a pain in a** to downgrade to 1.xx and unlock.Now its a catch22 situation,where it doesn't downgrade to 1.xx for unlocking and nor accepting any other rom flash,its stuck at splash screen at 3.08.
Now,the only solution is to get the phone back to its default status.Try to flash either official stock rom,button's rom,if button's don't work,try the xda_minis_launch rom or the wizard_love_rom in the bootloaders mode.You got to keep your patience and it might take several flashes with either of these roms to get through.

ok heres the scoop...
ive tried the tmobile official rom 2.26 upgrade and the xda_minis_launch rom and the wizard_love_rom (Love rom seems to be in a foreign language and gives a error 300) in the bootloaders mode and every time it will refuse to read the usb and gives me either a 264 or 296 error with these roms. Not sure why the phone says its not connected for the above roms but will read buttons rom still saying its not connected
The only rom that seems to read for whatever reason is buttons rom and i have flashed it 5 times at least now and always tells me it works but then gets stuck in bootloader with a glass of beer and the same ipl-1.01 spl- 3.08 gsm- 01.12.10 os- 1.5.4.2
so i dont know what to do!! there must be someway to get this thing to work!
Yes ! I understand it sometimes becomes very annoying and frustrating,but you got to keep cool. believe me and I can assure you there's nothing wrong with your phone as long as it can get into bootloaders.It's just that the bootloaders have got corrupted and stuck on spl 3.08,its only spl 3.08 which is creating all the problem,untill and unless it doesn't downgrade to either spl 1.xx or 2.xx,it'll not be possible to flash any other rom.now the only way to get the bootloaders corrected is to flash any official rom to bring both ipl/spl to 1.xx or 2.xx.
ok,when you get the phone in bootloaders and connect the phone via usb,does a small usb appear at the bottom of the bootloaders screen ? forget about the activesync for a while,cuz activesync doesn't work or get connected in bootloaders.The only way to verify if the phone has established connectivity with the pc is to verify if usb appears in the bootloaders.Rather I'll suggest you to delete the partnership with pc in activesync and uncheck the option 'allow usb connections' in the Async.If its verified that usb appears and has connection in bootloaders then you are good to go and run RUU,but if there's a problem and it doesn't show in bootloaders then your usb is not establishing proper connection.In that case,either the usb cable is faulty or the mini usb port of the phone is damaged.Check and verify this.
Secondly,lets try to flash the Rom with replaced RUU like 'RomUpdateUtility_wizard_Noid', or 'newromupdateutility_wizard_noid' or 'Ruu_Mun',you can find them in the forum.Either copy and replace it with ruu in the rom or copy and past 'nk_nbf' in the rom to the folder of these RUU and try to flash in the bootloaders,but first confirm the connectivity of the phone via usb as explained above. ok,was your phone CID unlocked when you did back up with sdcard using 'Mtty' program ? cuz its not possible to go through recovering back by this method if the phone is CID locked,the rom will not back up to sdcard,it'll give error.Here his phone is still Cid locked and he has upgraded to 3.08,now it won't let him downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx to use lokiwiz02b and SIM/CID unlock his phone.

ok here is the problem im having now. ANY ROM i attempt to flash to in bootloaders mode or 3 colored screen WILL NOT WORK! it gives me a 264 error on any of them besides button rom. I have tried several times to upload tmobiles official rom and it tells me i have to get a newer nbf file!
I pop the battery out and wait a few seconds and then hold camera button and power, (now in bootloaders) i then plug in usb and the USB letters do show on the bottom left hand side. I also disabled allow usb connection on active sync.
i wish i understood why no other rom except buttons will flash? even muns ruu wont work, it gives me a 300 error invalid update tool!
