um...damn.. - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

out of nowhere...when im in landscape mood...i type in the 10 digit number im about to send a text to..then i hit the D pad down...and no nothing happens...it always would scroll down to the text box and then i would start typing now i just stays in the box where i insert the phone number...
any fix =\

I'm assuming you've checked it isn't just a case of the d-pad no longer following the screen orientation? As in if you press what has become 'left' on the d-pad, the cursor focus doesn't helpfully go down a line as you need?

is dialing without touch screen possible?

Hi,
are there any applications or tweaks to make the phone screen buttons selectable with the hardware cursor buttons and the centre button to press them?
At the moment speed dial menu comes up which is ok but I would prefer to press phone and cursor around the screen selecting the numbers then press phone again to make the call.
I want to be able to dial a number without opening my hard case.
Thanks.
Ian
What about voice command? If you don't have all the buttons accessible in your case you can re-map one.
Phone manual dialing
anyone else had any joy on this?
I tried SPC phone suite and Shell both of which improve general one hand usability but not for dialing.
SPB Shell has a contact search screen with cursor key driven use of phone pad buttons but bot for the dialer of the phone - I asked them to look into it.
Voice command - any trial version available?
I love Voice Command, worthy the $. There is no need to train the app, it recognizes all of your contacts immediately.

Deactivate touch keyboard?

Is there a way to deactivate poping up of the touch keyboard? Everytime when I am in an input field the touch keyboard pops up. But if I really want to enter something I want to use the QWERTY hardware keyboard. So is there a way to deactivate that the touch keyboard always pops up?
3 new threads out of 5 total posts... some would look down upon that. Since a simple search by me for your problem did not yield any direct answers, here's your freebie. Welcome to XDA!
When you go to a text box in landscape mode and the onscreen keyboard pops up, tap the space bar on the hardware keyboard. That will tell the phone not to pop up the onscreen keyboard again until you tap the icon for it.
No, I mean not when I have my hardware keyboard folded out. I mean when it is folded that the touchscreen keyboard doesnt show up.

Click to collapse
OK, let's try this again... so is this your situation?
You are using the phone in portrait mode with the hardware keyboard closed. When you click into a text box, the onscreen keyboard pops us. But you do not want the keyboard to pop up. You want to be able to click into text fields with the phone closed, but not have the onscreen keyboard pop up.
Did I summarize that correctly? If so, I'm working on the answer, give me a little bit.
--Edit--
I just tried the following steps:
Slide the phone open
Open PIE and go to Google
Tap into the text box; the onscreen keyboard did not come up
Tap the icon for the onscreen keyboard; it came up
Tap away from the text box; keyboard went away
Tap into the text box; keyboard came back
Tap Space on hardware keyboard; onscreen went away
Tap away from the text box
Slide the phone closed
Tap into the text box; onscreen keyboard did not come back
Follow my steps just to see if that is your solution. If not, it could quite possibly be ROM dependent.
Your summary is correct.
Here is what happens at my Kaiser:
When I am on google the onscreen keyboard is there. Everything else works fine but I dont like that the onscreen keyboard comes everytime I am in a textbox.
I am using the ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403214
Try the steps I listed above. Also, if you tap a second time in the text box, the keyboard will close, but pop back up if you go to another box.
The problem is that if I open PIE and got to google the onscreen keyboard will pop up without doing anything and I want to get rid of this "feature".

how to open contact instead of dialing contact

when i click on 2 numbers as a short cut for a name and click on it, it immediately dial it instead of opening the contact, problem is i have more than a number for one contact and sometimes i want to dial the other number is there any tweak for this???? i really appreciate any help as it frustrate me dialing when i am in a hurry...
i know i could click right/left to change the number but somehow the numbers keeps changing fast like it's malfunction.
Same problem, I find autumatic dial very anoying
Is there any way to disable it and only dial by pressing the dial key ?
Thankxxxx
You can TRY to click the arrows left&right of the humber description. It should look something like this:
[NAME] < mobile number >
After pressing on of the arrows:
[NAME] < work number >
But the arrows are very small. Gesture doesn't work unfortunately. You can also use the DPAD down buttons to select the contact you like to call and then use the DPAD left or right arrow to switch between numbers for that contact. But I hate the DPAD
I would like it if you could just click and hold the contact and be able to switch numbers from the context menu...

Transcriber

I'm new to this touchscreen and have been playing with the "Transcriber" which lets you write text with the stylus (or your finger) and the phone recognises it and turns it into letters/numbers.
I'm trying (without success) to make my own gesture for the * symbol.
I use this symbol a lot and want to create a very simple gesture that will display this symbol.
Can someone please assist me?
Some clever person here must be able to answer my hopefully simple query??
There is a gesture built in for the * already, but you need to be in number mode to enter symbols. Click the "a" in the menu bar at the bottom until it changes to "123". To see how to write letters and symbols click the handwritten "L" on the menu bar and scroll through until you get to the letter or symbol you want to use and click the samples shown see the order of strokes you need to make.

Problem with Keyboard when texting

Sometimes when I am trying to text I can only see one line and my phone doesn't allow me to scroll down. If I hit enter I can still only see the one line. Anyone else have this problem?

That will happen occassionally. I think the only way to fix it is by closing and then reopening the messaging app.
I have seen this happen often if you hit a button to launch the messaging app, and then slide the keyboard open (causing screen rotation) while the app is loading. It gets confused and makes the text entry area fall under the bottom button bar.
The answer is to completely close and re-open the messaging app, and always wait until it is fully loaded before sliding the keyboard out.
Another trick is to load the SIP. Touch the keyboard icon on the bottom of the screen and it will push the text input window out.
