Damn....
Please remeber one thing before posting in threads about a released ROM:
- it is HARD work
- it takes TIME lots of TIME
- cooks still have a JOB or FAMILY
- they do it for FREE
- they cook THEIR PERSONAL rom
- maybe they ask "What to put in" BUT it stays their personal ROM
- cooking, porting and releasing is a very HARD JOB
So if you like the work - tell them
If you have bugs - tell them
If you have improvements - tell them
BUT DON´T tell them that you don´t like the work
don´t write a another release thread "i take your rom because teh XXX sucks"
don´t blame a cooks WORK
Because that happened we lost:
Itje = sad about reaction
ttran = sad about reaction
They take a break because of some guys spitting on their work and bombing with PMs
STOP IT! Please!
We need people like Itje, ttran, ivanmmj, and all other developers and user here who are working
constructivly!!!
@ itje and ttran and all cooks: Please report posts blaming your work and I will delete them!!
Daniel(mopps): I agree 100% to what you said. People should request, that too in the forums. They should not PM the cooks and 'demand' something. Also, they should stop complaining about their ROMs. It requires a lot of hard work and hell lot of time. Making the ROM; debugging it; polishing it; testing it requires lot of patience and time.
They make the rom avaliable to us for free. They dont charge us anything. Then, why the fu** some guys yammer about the contents of the ROM.
Message to the guys who complain: flash back stock WM5/WM6 and install what you want from the forum. Dont complain
The problem is that people are more likely to complain if something is not working that be thankfull when it does. Bad thing imo.
I'm using ttran's ROM at the moment (being pretty new to PPC devices) and it works like a charm. (Already did this in his thread, but) Thanks a lot!
It's very disappointing that a lot of people come here just for the software, they don't read (no matter if they know how to read), they take everything as granted, they cry for things they don't see, then they blame the cooks, no respect for the free meals.
The internet made a lot of smart people, it made much more stupid ones too.
Thanks to the cooks especially Itje, I'm running his Touch-IT.
Thanks to duprad, a nice humble tutor.
Thanks to everybody who contributes to this forum.
Let's keep it alive, active, and fruitful.
Peace.
o crap the title need to be bold and the thread need to be sticky. This is a big problem the better the rom get the more the complaint. i only read this cuz i saw your name under it.
ivanmmj = hasn't released his WM6.1 yet so hasn't had the opportunity to get the "my mms isn't working" complaint yet.
Actually, my MMS is working, but I'm sure it won't work for someone.
Shame...I love the work of Itje (I fell in love with touch-it so i haven't tried any other custom rom).
Maybe is it possible if the cooks like it to use some development/bugtrack software. This way bug's don't get reported hundreds of times. Especially when $#%@$#%-users who don't read can be banned from the tool.
Right now the forum is flooding with: "I just ignored everything you wrote and now my device is bricked. It's your ROM and I am too lame to use the search function so help me"-posts. And that makes the useful posts harder to find.
Who needs mms???
I do like the work of the rom-cooks and would like to take the opportunity to say "Thank You for Your work"!!!

I dont know if anyone here follows the PSP scene, but history repeats itself. Dark-AleX is the prime example http://www.dark-alex.org . His situation about a year ago is the exact thing that is going on here. In case you dont know, he creates custom firmware based off sony's original. Pretty much the exact same as the cooks do here (only 100 times harder.)
People were complaining thousands more than this place and he is the only "cook" (as the wm6 scene calls 'em).
Bottom line, he quit the scene for a while because of complainers, and everyone who used his CFW was upset because no more updates (and PSP updates are pretty much monthly). It was tough on everyone. But luckily he is back now, and based on following the PSP scene for long enough I can offer you some pretty good advice, based on this similar situation.
My suggestion to the cooks is this:
1) grab about 5 guys you trust on this forum, who are intelligent and can beta test, and don't mind doing it.
2) limit your releases from like 3 a month to once a month (or fewer) to ensure a working release and keep the complainers from demanding so much
3) work less frequently, and have little to no contact with the general public, dont monitor your thread (it gets too stressful). this is why you have the 5 or so guys you can trust. They are the middle man, and in turn get releases sooner than the general public and a little clout.

Very sound advice.
Cooks:
Keep in mind - some poeple are never happy regardless of the case; you've just got to let that go. See those of us who appreciate what you do and tell you such.
I know that at least a few of the cooks mentioned has received a PM from me offering support and thanks for their work or thier comments in their threads.
ITJE - Love your stuff bro do what you got to do to get where you want to go and don't let anyone stand in your way.
Ivanmmj currently LOVING your CleanROM Final - looking forward to your next works . . . .
tran001 Loved and used your Open Touch series - keep up the good work!
just want to say for the record that i have complained to ttran before (during the rocky periods of very early versions of open touch). then i realized, i was an ass to do so. so i paypal'ed him 5 bucks (beer money) soon after. sorry about that ttran. lol, i think we moved passed it though.
when a scene grows you get more noobs. and "noobs" suck the life blood out of a thriving community. if you cant use common sense or a search button than you are a noob at using a computer.
there goes the neighborhood.

They DO!
They have betatester and everyone who knows me - I try to help everyone...
BUT they also want to be proud of their work... adn it is soooo disappointed when someone starts yelling at their work...
And some parts only can answered by the cooks because the reghacks are sometime a "secret" of each cook - and that is good so...

I am an active open touch user so i can only speak from my thread interactions with ttran. His beta testers need to moderate and be the communication between the users and him. In theory he has them but in practice i do not believe he uses them like he should. Thats nothing bad on his part, he wants to be on the ground level with the end user as well. Which is ok, until it gets overwhelming - which it obviously has gotten. Cooks can still keep their secret and only deal with beta testers who will not know their secrets, if it is that imperative to them. I agree it is disappointing that this is and has happened. No one wins from this situation.
Ban those ungrateful, undeserving and disrespectful ************s.

What a shame
This is disturbing news to this avid reader / member too. I am a junior member who has used several of ttran's roms (and gave him some beer $) AND am eagerly waiting to try ivan's cleanrom wm6.1 if he blesses us with its release.
I work in a very high stress I.T. environment with users making unrealistic demands all day long (but at least I get paid) so I can relate to wanting to take a break. Ttran and Itje are very valuable members to this forum! I read their posts on many different threads and appreciate all they do.
Other members and especially newbies - READ! READ! READ! Not of all my forum searches give me the answers I expect, so I search more and READ READ READ. Please do the same!

Manila 2D seems to basically slow applications down and be riddled with bugs and other tendancies that need to be solved and reprogrammed because it stinks. Skip the fact it wasn't orginally written for the Kaiser. It's still a piece of crap.
Why are the chefs (and more largely phone makers) so obsessed with this junk? It's not more efficient in most measures I think of. It's definitely slower.
HTC Home with Homeplug has most of the same capability and is more functional for most people's needs. Sure, you can put more apps on the Manila Programs page but so what....? I only use that page when I'm driving and my fat fingers can't control from the start menu. I don't plan on making Registry Changes while passing Granny in the RH Lane on my motorcycle so who cares?
Why has the benchmarking of ROMs dropped off with the loss of some of the Great Chefs of Kaiser's Past. Let's focus more on functionality and lose the fluff until the power of these phones can keep up with the fluff.
How many Manila 2D Roms have you seen with a benchmark test included with it lately?
Eggsactly....lol.

Absolutely...
I prefer a sharp, hard cheddar with a Cabernet that I'll bring with me that will knock your socks into next week.
But you didn't even have an opinion on the matter eh?
Cooked into ROM
Actually hyper dragon's rom and many others with it cooked in it runs smooth. Installed I have noticed it runs crappy. But I don't think they should forget about it.....part of these forums purpose is to help people develop and use these developments to make our devices better.
So with that said please continue your work and forget about peoples comments that show disrespect towards that work.

Hyper runs fine for me Mr ignorance. Have fun with this thread.
we being humans like options..and thankfully for the chefs here we have plenty of it...
so we have loaded ROMS like garmin's DK, sakajati's hyper dragon, NATF base, etc
and well we have "fluff-free" ROMs like bengalih's BRR or notatreofan's NATF loaded, etc..
if you read the ROM descriptions, you should find what you need and if you do..please donate, rather than creating redundant threads!
From M2D, we got everything handy on the todays screen and accessible by a smooth GUI
At this moment, I think M2D is still not mature for Kaiser until it get landscape support. Unlike other PDA w/o keypad, the chance we have to work w/ landscape is far greater. Other than that, most functions work fine w/ a bit trade off on performance.
Therefore, I took out HTC home and made a M2D "ready" rom (instead of cook in), and give user the cab in case users wants M2D. But this is just me and other cook may think otherwise.
I resemble that remark, at times.... .
But, in this case, Mr Bradercrain, I would recommend a review of your remarks before throwing personal insults toward someone expressing a mere opinion about the direction that Roms are taking.
When you say your Rom "runs fine".....compared to what? A dinosaur??? I agree Mr Bradercrain. See what I mean?

I think that the speed is not the most important thing here, I think that all the cooks that are spending so much of their time trying to offer something "NEW" to a somewhat boring platform should be Held in reverence not criticized for all their efforts. They do this work for FREE and I am greatful for everyone of them. Your post said how some "Great cheefs have droped off" maybe they were frustrated with complaints form people that are ungreatful and demanding. manilla 2d is not bad but why cook in a rom while its still in beta
actually i find htchome tab more usefull
but manilla is awsome but i am bored of it
and samsung omnia rocks touchwiz is awsome screw htc
all i wish for is that not all roms have manilla
change a bit
home or m2d..i guess its upto the chef and his preference..
as for gentlemen who are not satisfied with the package, they have 2 options..
option one:
download a base rom
download cabs you want installed (try p1tater's and alltheway's 4shared folders)
use sashimi or uc to install them all after flash
option two:
B-Y-O-R

Unlike some of the posts above, I'm not intent on deriding your opinion, and I think you have a point - although it's not the speed and the bugs that are the problem IMO because those will likely be solved by the great minds here. But for me, it's nicer eye candy than HTC Home, but I have tried both and gone back to the tried and true (for me) - I pack a lot more on my screen with Spb Pocket Plus and Spb Diary, Battery Status, WMA Phone Profiles, and Sun'n'Moon.
Seems to me that Manila 2D is an attempt to look pretty like the iPhone, but how does it increase the functionality of my WM6.1 PDA phone? Someone please enlighten me.
Then try Manila 3D | But u need Diamond or Raphael
and whats the point..??

Ed,
I appreciate what you are saying here, and I will do just what you recommend.
I am merily trying to see if anyone else has noticed what I see. To consider whether other GUIs are beyond this beast that is so prevalent in the restaurant menu selections. I am a pioneer by nature.
But, I think the fun that was intended by me has made our more sensitive community members ruffle their feathers, instead of considering the merit of what I say.
But, thank you for your offering to me. You will see a donation to the chef that makes the next NON-Manila 2D ROM I select.
One closing comment to consider:
Most of those that have left did not leave because of anyone ungrateful for their effort. They left for faster phones. They left their little dinosaurs behind....
Eggsactly hang.tuah. We will join you soon my brother. You are a pioneer ahead of me. I was kind of disappointed about 4.7, but I understand!!
wow i think you r whole judgement is premature... my phone actually is running faster and smoother than its ever ran... im using darkforcesteam manilla rom and have yet to experience any freezing or lag.... and maybe if u headed over to the general dev. and hacking u would know and understand why it is still in beta... but in short the chefs here are great and put much effort to keep our phones on the cutting edge of technology. and i would suggest the next time u want to put out ur opinion do it in the general section after uve researched ur complaint and how the mast majority feels a little more... cuz clearly manilla2d is not about millaseconds of performance and its in beta cuz they are advancing it almost daily did u know that there is theme management now and compatible with almost all devices damn kinda hard to make final when this is so new and so many improvements are continually being achieved... and since this is a matter of opinion since ive put manilla2d on my phone with the amazing opal dialer ive never been happier with its functionality i cant stop scrolling through the darn thing
and this is why we love manilla 2D whens the last time u seen htc home look like this...

Here is one free one that I know of, however it is in no way the best. It actually references an online database to pull the drinks, so you would need a data plan to utilize it. It can be downloaded from freewarepocketpc at http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-pocketender.html
The best one that I have found is not free but was only like $14 USD and is fantastic. It is from Town Compass, but it is quite inclusive... Here's some of the info: http://software.techrepublic.com.com/abstract.aspx?docid=490101

After looking through what was available, I'm a bit appalled by how horrible most of those apps look (and work).
I'm a former (and possibly returning) bartender and used to be a regular on one of the bigger online cocktail forums...so trust me when I say that most of the apps I saw are abysmal in both looks and function.
If there's enough interest, I'd consider throwing together an application to do this all much better. Any thoughts?

Try using www.avantgo.com and add the "Drink Boy" channel. You'll get good recipes on a nice interface that you can view and search for offline. When you're online, it updates itself. I've had a lot of fun with it.

I would definately be down. I totally concur. Half the bartender apps are outdated or are a bit difficult to navigate through. Being an amature bartender, I use my database quite a bit, but yeah if there was a program that would allow you to enter in your liquors on hand and priovide you with possibile combinations... Damn... That'd be sweet....

1/3 WILD TURKEY 101
1/3 BACARDI 151
SPLASH OF GRENADINE...

I freely admit, since I'm out of work right now, I'm fine with being a whore
I've already got a bit of this started, but I'm working on another project first that I think will get a lot of wide-spread usage across the forum. But I'll get back to working on this one very soon.
In the mean time, are there any particular features anybody is looking for. I'm sure it'll be easy enough to figure out all of the features the drinkers want, but what about bartenders? Tell me how often you think you'll be entering drinks, what extra features do you need. Will you actually be using this while at work...with your fingers?
I know this is in the Raph section, though it belongs in Q&A or D&H, but does anybody here want a QVGA version, or dare I ask, W(Q)VGA? If this app is going to see finger-based controls (which I'd expect to make sense), it's not really going to work out having small windows controls, so graphics/resolution will be considered for the first version.

I used to be a regular contributor to the forums there...The biggest problem is that the drink database is absolutely cluttered with incorrect entries and missing a lot of common recipes.
When I start building a collection of recipes, there's actually a couple of people from that forum that I'm going to ask for help/collaboration. I'm also going to throw them a heads up to ask for any thoughts from them on what they would like to see.

I'll post more info to this thread when I start it, and then I'll create a release thread in D&H (and post a link to it here) when there's a reasonably good start on a beta version.
You can help out by giving some ideas of what features you'd like to see in it.
this is very cool that you'd consider putting an app together, pour...the best reference app/source I've found is that DrinkBoy channel on avantgo. That said, my advice would be keep it very simple. Not only will this, hopefully, take burden and time from your investment to the group, but I don't think I'd be looking for anything other than:
-thorough database with accuracy on both contents and how to prepare
-a "my favorites" option for quick look-ups and personalization
-organize at the root based on main ingredient (e.g. rum, vodka, bourbon)
-a search option with fuzzy-esque searchability (e.g. southside, southsides or southsider would produce the same drink recipe)
I guess these may end up being more work than I thought but an accurate db, easy search and browse engine with a "my fav's" organizer would be PERFECTION for me!!

I kinda suspect, with luck, my app will draw attention from hopefully every group....the college students, bar patrons, and even bartenders from different types of places. For that reason, a "simple" app might not be too likely. Simple interface is definitely part of my plan, but the application itself is going to be pretty powerful and probably meant to cover a lot of people's uses.

- Favorites will be very easy to implement, so this is pretty much a sure thing.
- The database itself is a subject I intend to take more seriously than a lot of people probably expect (more on that in the future).
- I've got several ideas for searches/filters, each will be fleshed out as I build it. I'm aiming mostly for live searches and the first will be using quick ingredient filtering.
- fuzzy search...I'll see what I can do, but that's one I know very little about. Some quick googling turned up some information that's possibly VERY usable, but it's all written for the the big brother .Net Framework while the Compact Framework gets no love. I'll bookmark some of this stuff and see where I can go with it after I've released a first version. As much as it might be cool, I can't justify porting Lucene.Net to the compact framework for this project. In the mean time, I can use a "Sounds Like" mechanism that would probably do pretty well for an early version. I'm also a little worried about performance.
As a note, I'd previously said that I wouldn't be starting this until I finished another application. I feel a little dumb for not seeing it sooner, but I discovered Sashimi exists (though I haven't started testing it). While it sorely lacks about half of the features I planned to build, it does a far better job at the other half of the features I had in mind. I'm going to try out Sashimi for a while to determine if there's enough reason to build my app (or possibly a configurator/extension of sorts for use with Sashimi, if possible). As a result, I'm going to put that project on hold and move on to this one.
Second note...err, request actually...I'm ok with graphics...sometimes...But I want to make this app graphically attractive and possibly add skinning ability. At the very least, I will need a few decent looking icons for a few things, at the most, it might turn into an entire interface design. One of my goals is to make this app roughly comparable to something people might expect to buy form the iPhone AppStore (after all, everybody is *****ing about the lack of pretty WM apps). So, if anybody has decent graphics skills and is up for helping out, drop me a line and we'll bump some ideas around when I get to the right stage.
wow i had almost forgot about this thread glad to see something has come of it!
definetly excited to see what you come up with
Is this program still in active development? I hope it is because it sounds like it could be really nice/useful!
Hi all,
Very quick one. Is there a WinMob6.5 ROM available for the Kaiser (known by me as the Vodafone v1615)?
Thanks in advance

WM 6.5 has not been officially released by M$ yet and when it is, it will not be available for the Kaiser.
But waiting for M$ and HTC to improve our phones is not why we are here, go here to unlock your phone and then take advantage of the many " custom 6.5 roms " available in the rom development section
Wow some people really don't try anymore. Back in the day he would have been flamed hard core.

How is the flaming going over at the ** choke ** choke ** iPhone support forum ?
I don't really do anything in the Iphone forums, there isn't a site anywhere near as good as this one for the iphone.
There are a few things I miss about the tilt but I do like the iphone.

Give the guy a break
I mean, the whole point of a site like this is to serve information. Frankly, you need to be a borderline OCD to find what you need..
Why does it have to be a 'rite of passage'? Its a valid enough question for a newb. There isn't a 6.5 sticky in the ROM section, listing available ROMs, and a search yields 87 page results, each with their own # of threads. How do you pick which one to use? I'm sure to get flamed myself for this, but I can understand the frustration of some who just wants to upgrade to 6.5 and get on with his/her life, without having to spend a week searching, just because 'y'all had to do it'.
The whole point of these devices is so SAVE US TIME, not for us to slavishly spend 3 days working out how upgrade the crappy ROM, unlock the phone, and erase all data, only to try and reload the whole load back. And then do it again because the dialler was rubbish, or the sw keyboard didnt work, it was too slow, or something like this. In the old days of valves and ticker tapes, they had 'acolytes' in white coats to serve the mainframe, change the valves and unclog the ticker puncher. We were slaves to the machine. Seems to be happening here too!
Give full kudos to those wizards who create the ROMs, no idea where they get the time or energy, but bless them for doing it.
PS. I am borderline OCD myself, just in different things now.
If it really is all about proving your Google skills, I stand corrected. But I remember my first time too, thinking I was about to brick my £400 device, and incur the wrath of my provider.
Slay.

I have to agree with you. I love to research, but it can be a daunting task with all the threads and possible roms available for your phone. Then finding a radio that works well for everything, if you are lucky.
I have spent the last few days looking at different roms and radios, with my wife asking "What are you doing that takes that long?" If she only knew that I could brick my phone and be forced to buy a new one to experiment on LOL
But, hey it can be addictive to get it just the way you like it.

Wrong........wrong........wrong.........!
This is not McDonalds, this is not Harrods, this is not HTC tech support. The whole point of this site is to " serve " no one.
This is a library, a vault of WinMo and HTC knowledge. When you walk into a library for knowledge on the Hong Kong economy, you don't walk upto the librarian and say, ".........gimme all you've got on world enconomy, I' ll be sitting over here waiting. " Nor do you announce at the door, to all others there , what you are looking for.
The librarian points you in the right direction and you go and search and read, and read and search until you are able to go into work and say, " boss, here is my proposal on our expansion into the Hong Kong market, make me lead on this account. "
No one is paid here to help anyone. When people do help, it is out of the goodness of their hearts and their desire to share their " hobby " with you.
They are not here to serve anyone anything.
If you have neither time nor the desire or the " OCD focus " then leave your phone alone.

That Kyphur post should be permanently displayed above the main menu.
Word!!!
In all honesty, the OP could have just gone into rom development and seen a bunch of WM 6.5 ROMS, there would not have been days of eye burning search's.
The fact is this. You are an idiot if you don't take the time to educate yourself on the things you want to do. You owe it to yourself and your wallet to make sure you fully understand all of the things you need to know before bricking the thing.
As one of you posted, I too was scared during my first flash, I read the same posts over and over and over and over, until I felt like I understood what was going on..

it really is not about going through "a rite of passage" when a noob gets flamed...the flaming is to drive home a point...and the point is that the time you spend reading and researching is an investment that will save you from mistakes and future troubleshooting and it will save you from bricking your very expensive device (which is a natural fear) in the worst case.

As a newcomer to xda developers (but a veteran of other technical forums) I cheer this perspective.
Whilst I am prepared to sweat blood & tears sifting through the myriad topics on device & ROM options, I would happily bow to my subject peers if they could simply answer a basic question with the required answer; rather than flaming the poster for not having read every post on the forum and deciphering the rubiks code, or something like that...

The problem is that you don't have to sweat blood & tears for a question as simple as looking @ ROM development, noted if you can see the STICKY @ the top then you can probebly see bellow too?
Most of the common users see @ least 5+ posts a day that could have been solved via a simple walk in the park not a dig in the graveyard.
We are not here to persicute "flame" noobs just to help them if they have done the required searching for ones self, they learn nothing by being spoonfed except to be more spoonfed.

the main question for this thread was something trivial and showed that noone even attempted to look. The answer was out in the open and if it were snake, someone would have been bitten.
Hi,
I have an X1 with the latest updated software from SE.
I want to see if I can get my device to be more responsive / improved / resolve some quirks.
But I don't really have time to read through pages of FAQs and learn about cooking and kitchens and then research all the roms, etc.
So what I would like to request is for some phone optimization consulting services in exchange for green rectangles.
What I'd like to do is:
- Discuss my needs for the phone and how I currently use it.
- Get feedback on how we can improve the phone's performance and responsiveness to those needs.
- Walk me through any kind of ROM fixes/upgrades.
- Give me step-by-step documentation on repeating the process so I can do it again if I need to.
Please either post here or send a PM with your qualifications and an estimate. I think this will run about 2 hours (1 hr or less of discussion via IM and then 1 hr of doing upgrades, etc.)
Thanks.
well...as a personal non-offensive opinion. but if you don't have time to read here, then you shouldn't be thinking about trying to mod your phone to begin with.
I'll give you this free advice.
if you want to get rid of some annoying things and the very very unresponsive speed on the wm 6.1 on your x1. get xperiatweak2. that's something that'll help a heck load.
if you are willing to take the chance of modifying the rom (which sony will say your warrenty is over if they find any rom mods that have been done to phone), then read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070 . as far as modding the rom goes, this topic has the most accurate information i've found so far.
and I highly recommand you read the forum topics that are posted here in the forum. That will help you more than us trying to tell you what to do and do everything for you.
we are all here willing to help you, but you need to do your part too.

I'm helping to start a new industry of cell phone optimization consultants, and you seem to turn your nose up at it.
I started my company doing things that others could do if they spent a few hours looking through documentation but just didn't have the aptitude or time to do so.
I have XPTweaker already. I presume you guys have made improvements to the ROM(s) to make the device run faster and better - or am I mistaken?

hey guys what is going on here ?
the man wants personalized help and is willing to pay for it. this is a reasonable request and i find it "trollish" to start and argue about it. it doesnt really matter what his background is. its a standart business decision to save some time and pay someone qualified to do required work or provide infos.
also i find it very annoying to scroll past a bunch of useless so-called "funny" images just to keep track of real posts.
how about helping people instead of using this as a personal entertainment-stage ?

+1.
To OP, maybe you can list your spec/requirements here. Then me or others could see how to help.
BTW, HTC Advance config tools is much better than Xperiatweak.
Maybe this better fits in Marketplace but I have a feeling that the expertise I am looking for lives here and not there.
I do not have time to become an expert in Rom modification and an expert in the variety of ROMs available, or in all of the applications available. I just don't. I'm an expert in other areas and can't also be an expert in this one. The opportunity costs are too high.
I tried reading the post earlier on HOW TO mod the rom but that's just a small part of the equation. WHICH rom? Why? what other applications? Etc.
There's something called comparative advantage. It means that - for at least one person here I hope - it is better for both of us for me to do what I'm good at, and use the revenue from that to compensate you for your expertise in X1A modifications.
If everyone took the approach of having to personally learn how to do everything they wanted to do, I would be out of a job and they would get a bad result or run out of time.
I think there's a certain elitism that some people hold, and it's probably a big reason as to why Linux hasn't gotten anywhere in the main stream, but I know that not everyone is so elitist so I'm hopeful that at least one of you who is an expert in this area would like to earn a fair amount over a period of an hour or two.
Anyway, PM me if interested. Posting here would probably get you labeled a "sellout" by your peers.

Alright, perhaps I misunderstood. That's just how it came across to me.
I think that Jackleung made a good point - it might be a good idea to be a bit more specific as to what you want.
As in the scenario you described earlier, here people also have specializations within certain parts of modifying the ROM/software. With a bit of specificity you might just find the right guy(/girl) for the job.
I'm not saying that you have to either join the club or screw off.
all that I'm saying is that if your willing to pay money and get someone to teach you the steps of getting things done and all that. why not spend a little time here and read some of the posts that people have posted up?
most tutorial posts here are all written up in steps, it's simple, easy, and direct.
and like the other guys have been saying all this time, you need to be more specific as to what you want so that the other members here can help you.
and similar to what I said from my first reply to you. I'm in no way trying to be rude to you or offend you in any sense. I just wanted to give you a little suggestion to help that's all.

I agreed to his "comparative advantage" theory. It's true it's more effective if everyone works on his/her specialty. (e.g. I gave up to teach my wife how to config (not even rom cooking) WM phone. I rather configure it for her... )
And least synpax stated very clearly he is willing to pay. Unlike some suckers who request free service without do his/her own readings. But again, it's more effective if synpax can list some of your spec/requirement here first.
orelsi, please stop your pointless and harassal reply.

This kind of group therapy might not give out any results (as we would need someone who has been able to recover from it), but at least we will be able to get past the feeling that we are in essence lonely in this world since no one outside of xda-devs seem to understand what we go through
So, what exactly is ORD?(thanks Fallen Spartan for the definition)
I have finally figured out what is wrong with us all.
We got something that can be called ORD
Obsessive-ROM Updating Disorder
you might have it if you:
-Flashes new roms as soon as they are available
-Need to have the lastes OS build
-Need to have the latest packages, it do not matter if there is no changes to the application, just as long as it has a higher build number.
-Is often forgetful in daily activities cause you are thinking of what the next leaked update will be
-Often does not follow instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace because your urge to browse websites sutch as Htcpedia or xda-developers.
-Difficulties completing household chores as you are constantly refreshing your browser for updated roms
-Often having difficulty concentrating on conversations as you are constantly backing up contacts etc, setting up mail and customizing graphics on the newest rom
-Appearing not to listen when spoken to (often being accused of beeing obsessesive with "that damn phone"

I...Hate...XDA
My name is Blair and I am an Addict!
I have been an addict since I got a Kaiser 2 years ago.
Now I cook my own personal ROM's, helped Root a couple Android Devices, and cant stop visiting XDA waiting to get or help with the latest and greated WinMo/Android Mod.
Phewwwwwww!
I feel better already.....ohhhh wait is that a new WinMo build...........
Lol!
I´m Orb and I´m a humanoid, so I can type more and faster
I´m waiting that a profession: Psychologist for not humans to be created, so I´ll be in the first list to get an appointment, I have problems
The real story:
I started on Winmo world back in 2004 when I saw a friend of mine with a Blue angel, I was amazed with it and later on I got an Universal from a trip to Europe, since that I got in love with WM/HTC world, but something was missing....I was bored...
Until I came across XDA!! and all changed, the possibilities were almost infinite on flashing (flashed so many times I´ve lost the count)and customizing, money was my limit to buy more devices so I stayed only with great Uni from 2005 till 2009 that I got the chance to buy a Rhodium (I am not counting my wife´s Excalibur on this story).
Later on I wanted to have a Maple to upgrade my wife´s Excalibur and was looking for one for several months, and recently I´ve found a great deal!
Flashing continues...
That´s the end of the story....for now

I cannot believe that you stole my idea, and used it, and didn't give me any credit for it at all. I made the post/thread "I... Hate... Xda!" and I'm not even linked here, seriously? So mean!! >:{
My Story ...
It started back in late 2008, early 2009. I had just purchased my new HTC Fuze and wasn't very satisfied with how it performed. After a few hours of searching, I came upon XDA Developers and started reading about what could be done to my phone to make it better. In excitement, I created an account on the forum ...
At first, I was flashing ROM's to my device so that I could get the best features and performance. I would leave the ROM on the device for a few weeks; then weekly, daily, and finally ... hourly. I didn't notice that I was becoming addicted at first; my friends and family had. We would be at a social dinner or event and I would find myself logging into XDA from my phone to see if a new ROM had been released. I'd pretend to be involved in the conversation we were having, but cursing inside at the fact that I wasn't in front of my PC to download and flash it to my device.
Popular chefs like NRGZ28, NATF, and ARUPENTHAL would announce an updated release of their next Fuze ROM and I would find myself refreshing my browser every hour waiting for the "uploading" message to change to "uploaded & ready" - like a junkie waiting on a street corner for his pusher to arrive. I would get frustrated at how long it was taking to download the ROM from my 16 Mbps downstream connection. I would stay up all night trying to figure out the best time to download ROM's so that I could push my 16 Mbps connection to it's limit - I even called my ISP to complain about the fact that I couldn't get an OC48 fibre optic connection to my house. I even called RapidShare, Hotfile, MediaFire, and 4shared technical support to plead with them to remove the waiting period - I even bought every single item from the popup advertisements.
During the day, I would find myself taking several breaks so that I could check the forum to see if a new ROM was available or another registry tweak that would enhance my phone. I would tell my colleagues that I had a bladder condition just so I could sneak to the bathroom and check the forum. If a ROM had been released, I would go back to my desk and announce that I wasn't feeling well just so I could go home to download the ROM.
I found myself filled with anxiety wondering if someone else had already downloaded the ROM. Would there be a download slot left for me? I found myself pre-booking helicopter flight services to my home just so I could get there as quickly as possible and make sure that I was the first one to download the latest ROM. I found myself setting up sockpuppet accounts so that I could trace the IP Address of any member who had downloaded the ROM before me ... just to call their ISP and have their accounts suspended so that it wouldn't happen again.
And it got worse; I met a dealer name Da_G. He started supplying me the latest versions of kitchens so that I could make my own ROM's. No more waiting. No more pushers. I was "plugged-in" at the source. I would find all of the latest application packages, and add them to my kitchen. If I ran into a problem, I knew I could turn to him for another fix. I craved it more than life itself; I needed the latest ROM ... even before HTC thought of it.
Near the end, it's all I could do. I even worshipped the great goddess Flar of XDA, so that I would be blessed into the order of modship just so I could get into the "inside track". I sold myself like a cheap prostitute/junkie in need of "just one more fix; and then I'll quit; honest". Then another release of Opera or SenseUI would come out; then a new version 6.5 - the cycle would repeat itself over and over.
I found myself waiting in dark alleys looking for iPhone users just so I could show them the latest ROM I had built; "see," I would say, "I have an app for that too". I was a lost soul like those that perish in the Bermuda Triangle; except mine was that of a lost GPS signal. I found myself on street corners calling friends and asking: "Can you hear me now". I lost everything, my house, my home, my wife, my dignity, my HTC Fuze. I felt like I was in a deep dark cave unable to use the backlight of my Fuze to shine the way.
But then, I was saved - I found ORDER. Founded on the teachings of the grand master ITJE and his three followers of the HardSPL: FALLEN SPARTAN the mystic flasher, STYLEZ the rominator, and the all-knowing MIKECHANNON; the high priest EGZTHUNDER1 seeks to enlighten those afflicted with his wisdom. He taught me that all was not lost ...
I simply had to go buy another phone.

Thank you for your testimony hilaireg, we all know how difficult it is to expose yourself and talk to others about this "demoniac addiction" that is eating all of us inside. Let me tell you, that we really care about you and know what are you passing through, but accepting this and opening to give your testimony...it's a huge step towards sanity and rehab.
We all going to be with you in this long journey to become xda clean...for once and for all...but it's going to be difficult....maybe some up downs...but we will be here for you to provide guidance.
Please group...let's say together "We love you" to hilaireg. And when you feel depressed or that you are going to fall again for this addiction, repeat to yourself...BOOSFRABA....BOOSFRABA...BOOSFRABA...
I hope that helped.
hilaireg... I love you. Ha I lied.
I think I'm the most annoying XDA User aren't I.
